Emma Frost as a the mom version of Meet the Parents' Robert De Niro ahahahahahhh I can't.
The dialogue is funny, overall, and the scene at the Summers house looks pretty wholesome and gemütlich (sorry I can't remember the English equivalent). An enjoyable issue but… I feel sorry for the cyborgs.
3.75 stars. Kid Cable hit the Space Knights with the okie doke and one portobello later, He and Esme head back home. Also cool thing we learn about Cable in this issue.
I'm really loving this series. The art is gorgeous and the writing is kinda' wonderful. I guess I prefer my X-books with a dash of humour, and this one has just the right amount.
I enjoyed that Cable used some timey wimey Bill & Ted style nonsense to defeat the Galadorians (and that this will clearly come back to bite him in the ass in future). I really, really, really love his relationship with Esme. I can see trouble brewing between the Cuckoos over this boy. And, of course, I love Emma acting like their over protective mum.
The dinner scene at the end and the conversation between Nate and Scott was just... *chef's kiss*
I'm loving the X-books at the moment and this is definitely one of my favourites. Which I seem to say at the end of all my X-book reviews, but they can all be my favourites if I want!
After a strong start the series has wobbled the last couple of issues but this one pulled the threads together and ended this Mini arc strongly.
The dialogue between Cable and Esme was fun, the fight was a good one although left me a little confused as a returning reader I'm a little confused with the Cable v Cable narrative and the ending with firstly Emma was brilliant and the family together was a nice ending.
All ready for the swords event now, hopefully the quality stays up.
Better! The action & dialogue/story are nicely balanced. We learn that old Cable knew young Cable was going to kill him. ...I actually don't know if this was a reveal since it took place during my break from X-Men. I think the family dinner thing is cute but isn't Havok currently being held by Goblin Queen? And where is Vulcan? Seems like they got that backward or maybe the reading order isn't quite linear? Why the fuck do the lady cyborgs have hourglass figures? That's big dumb.
I am definitely willing to change my rating and opinion of this issue (and series thus far). My big hope is that the current story lines in the series: Order of X kidnapping mutant kids and machine aliens develop and pay off more in future issues.
