Sometimes a case isn't over…
US Army Detective Regan Chase has just solved the most horrific investigation of her career. One that cost the lives of a dozen soldiers, their wives…and nearly her own.

Regulations are clear. Regan's barred from interrogating the terrorists responsible—especially the doctor who deliberately infected her with that deadly psycho-toxin.

But the doctor will only speak to Regan.

The Army has no choice. Dr. Durrani's cohort, a former Army translator, claims there's a traitor in their midst—and there's evidence the translator's telling the truth.

With the stakes critical, Regan heads for the government's newest classified interrogation site: A US Navy warship in the middle of the ocean. Regan's prepared for Dr. Durrani's lies. But there's no way she could've anticipated the rest.

Within minutes of her boarding the ship, the translator is dead.

His killer? The last man in the world Regan would've suspected: Major John Garrison. Worse, John's admitting his guilt.

The only detective aboard, Regan must push her personal feelings aside and follow the evidence. But as the investigation deepens, Regan uncovers a second, deadlier, terror plot that leads all the way to the US embassy in Pakistan—and beyond.

Once again, Regan's on the verge of losing her life…as well as another.

A life more valuable to Regan than her own.

If you are already a fan of the Regan Chase novels by Candice Irving, then you are in for a real treat. Her newest of the Deception Point Military thrillers is called Backblast, and it is her best work so far. There is intrigue, suspense, action and romance (not too much). Each chapter builds up enough excitement that will keep you reading to try to discover the answers of what is going on.
I am not going to rehash the story or spoil any of the mystery. The synopsis provides enough of a teaser to stimulate your desire to read Backblast yourself. Regan Chase is a woman with a very strong set of ethics and honor as a military CID agent, and is a great investigator. But she is not infallible and shows that with her empathy and internal struggles.
This is a great read that will make you long for more adventures with Regan and her crew. Keep on writing, Candice, because we can’t wait for your next work.

This book had me holding my breath so often I thought I was going to need a breathing treatment at the hospital. Some of the reasons for that are : the main character Regan Chase, her boyfriend Major John Garrison, the murdering Dr. Durrani, interpreter Tamir Hachemi, spook Sam Riyad and a host of other characters. Some make it out alive. Many do not.
There are so many twists and turns and possible double crosses, following each character through to the end is like rolling in a nest of rattlesnakes. You can't tell where one ends an another begins.
I've been with some of these characters through a few books and I thought I knew who could be trusted. It turns out, I was wrong.
And I still don't know for sure who all might have sold out his countrymen. There are possibilities of one, two or more traitors. And our country's options for avoiding war are skating on a razor-sharp edge.
I'm so anxious for the next book to come out. I think I'll check back on every book Candace Irvin has written and make sure I've read them.

As usual, Candace Irving writes a superb followup in the Deception Point series. No spoilers, but Backblast has more surprises, twists, and downright gut wrenching scenes and every one of them seems real. Backblast is superbly written, the characters and emotions are real so real, I can feel them myself! Very well researched. A must read that's hard to put down.

Great read. Regan is a kickass CID investigator. Looking for traitors, while still recovering from her own attack. Really enjoying this series and hope for more

Regan is back and must find a traitor to her country. Bad things keep happening while she is searching. Who can she trust? Another great adventure. A little profanity but a good story. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Backblast is a blast.  I can not say enough about her writing skill as it is very very good.  The book has multiple mysteries going and Detective Regan Chase (She is CID agency.   All the mysteries going on Chase is doing the lead on them all .   This is a very good book and I am sure I will read it again.  There is a lot of mystery and Scotland yard type Detective work.  Chase is a Warrant Officer and the lead on all the different mysteries. Not much gun fighting at all and you just get carried away in the reading.  There is just so much pleasure in this reading.
This one made me keep turning the pages way too late.  I will be reading more of her work like AIMPOINT.

So real and gut-wrenching and emotional, I felt Reagan Chase's anxiety as though it were my own!

Backblast, Book two in the Regan Chase, Deception Point Military Detective series by Candace Irving is the explosives follow-up to Blind Edge. The energy that Candace Irving infuses into her writing, is so powerful, so electrifying, it punches you in your gut as you read. That emotional gut-wrenching tension is so real in Backblast, it is as though you are there experiencing every moment as Regan Chase works this case. I honestly felt like I was having an anxiety attack at the sa4me time as Reagan's! I even had to do some
deep breathing exercises just to keep reading! Candace Irving knows how to put the the THRILL into a Thriller.

Once again there are so many twists , turns and misdirects in the plot of Backblast, you may want to start your own flowchart/murder board. Backblast is not a book you read when you are not alert, and don't expect to sleep after reading it. Hours after I closed my Kindle for the evening, I laid in bed running the events again in my brain. This book was a better wake -me -up than my morning coffee.

Candice Irving is a fabulous writer. Her words are so enticing and descriptive. Backblast is amazingly well-written, the characters well-developed and multi-dimensional. I especially appreciated that the main character, Reagan, is not only a kickass heroine, she dominates the book. In Backblast, the male characters are support actors for the female star, Reagan! The sensitivity and understanding of women in the military, shows through in every word Candace Irving writes in this series. As a woman veteran myself, I feel Candace really gets me!

Altogether, Backblast is a Must Read,as is this entire series. Pick up this novel, strap yourself in, and prepare for the most emotional, exhilarating experience ever!

This is book three in the Regan Chase Thriller series.  Regan is an US Army Detective that has seen been through a lot but she must keep working her case to prevent more death and destruction.  Regan has been part of uncovering an international plot that could cause worldwide devastation.  She is still recovering from her last case that now seems to be crossing over to this new discovery.

This is another great book by Irving!!!  Even if you have not read the first two books, you can still follow along.  This fast pace thriller had me on the edge of my seat.  The many plot twists kept me guessing right up to the end but did not make the book scattered.  That is my favorite type.  Regan Chase is a kick a** female lead.  She is smart, tough, and good at her job.  If you like suspense, intrigue, treason, murder,  plots for international destruction, check out this book!

I received a review copy of this book from the author.  I was not required to leave a positive review.  I am voluntarily leaving a review which is my opinion alone.

Backblast - a review by Rosemary Kenny.

Army MP/CID Special Agent Regan Chase, a female version of Jack Reacher, must work with her (possibly untrustworthy) boyfriend, SF Major John Garrison, to reveal the traitor in their midst that once more turns into an international mission.

In a double whammy against her, Regan's only lead to the rogue agent is the evil Dr Durrani, who previously endangered her by injecting her with a neurotoxin, that may or may not have long-lasting side-effects.

Whom can she trust - if anyone?

Candace Irving's latest Regan Chase thriller, Backblast, will keep you engaged and 'locked and loaded' to get the traitor in your crosshairs as the tension mounts exponentially to the very end. Can you guess who the villain is?

Backblast by Candace Irving. (Deception Point #3)

This is the 3rd book in this series with Regan Chase and John Garrison and the conclusion of the story arc that started in Aimpoint, a prequel novella, continued in Blind Edge and concludes in this book. After the events in the previous book, Regan Chase is trying to recuperate from her ordeal but there are a lot of loose ends that need to be cleared up in order to bring this case to a close. Major John Garrison is chasing his own clues and they get their Happy Ever After for now in their personal life. This book maybe read as a stand-alone book, but the author states that these books are best read in order to avoid spoilers. I was engaged with both the story telling and the characters over this 3 book story arc. A great read. 5 stars.

Brilliant intricate and full of "I can't stop reading," suspense in the third of this thrilling military and hot romance series. A series that gets you gripped from the very first page and I spent the last week reading into the wee small hours all of this series from Candace's.
