Future Kodiak Island is a wilderness paradise, home to giant grizzly bears, grizzly/polar bear hybrids, wolves, herds of elk and rivers of salmon. Humans are a barely remembered threat to the animals there, until the island is chosen by a group of black-market filmmakers as the scene for their newest production. Andrewsarchus mongoliensis was the biggest predatory mammal that ever walked on land. When the filmmakers introduce a pair to Kodiak Island, the bears and wolves find that they’re no longer at the top of the food chain, fighting for their lives against a savage prehistoric foe. Told almost entirely from the point of view of the animals, this is the second novella in the “Versus” series of speculative fiction pitting modern animals against prehistoric ones.

Her works include the Jack Salem comics, the Ursa Major award-winning short story The Monkeytown Raid, the Griffin Ranger novels, and numerous other creations.
