serialsleeper is one of my favorite authors in wattpad, so i am deeply disappointed in this. i've read all of the thrillers she had written when i was on 9th grade and i remember being awed by how gruesome and graphic they are. that's probably the reason why i got so addicted to horror and gore, her works became my standard. however, when i've read this book, it's so underwhelming i almost ditch it. it took me a whole lot of 4 days just to finish it because the story drag so much i wanna die. the narration was also cringey and extremely childish, like a third rate wattpad debut novel in the 2010s i almost vomit out of disgust. characters had no depth and all appear to be always having conflicting emotions. they would be saying the most serious and saddest thing and it will end with an exclamation mark. that too, the over usage of exclamation marks made all dialogues seem comical. ironically lacking emphasis just like the characters in storybooks. this book had so much potential, especially the plot, it was just devastating how poorly written it is. it could have been more.
I managed to read this book within a day and it was amazing. I went through spirals of plot twists and emotions in this book. What I loved about it is that I actually wasn’t expecting the killer to be the killer, idk if you understand, but I like it when I try to guess something and for some reason the author proves me wrong. I loved the characters in the book—especially Trick, my new book boyfriend🤪 The book wasn’t that scary but it gives you goosebumps from time to time. Every chapter of the book leaves you clueless and unable to process what the duck—see what I did there?—just happened. Also, some parts of the book may be disgusting, disturbing, and graphic to some of ya’ll, especially when it comes to the killings. But all in all, I loved this book. It was amazingly put together. I also loved the spine-chilling buildup of the story.
first of all, i love the idea of using BLACK pages for this book!! it matches the genre and im obsessed with it !! i love the entire story, from the plot, plot twists, the characters!
however, i didn't like the special chapter, i guess it's the editors fault.i think they change it a little and made it something idk, it's just not very Serialseeper. I know her writing style, it isn't like that :/
I'm not good in writing reviews but AAAAHHHHHHH THIS IS CURRENTLY MY NUMBER ONE FAVE THIS 2022 WANNA EXPLORE MORE STORIES FROM ATE BAMBI 🤩😍💗🤌 btw this is my first read of Hunyango and this review is for the Book Version 😃😊
Rate: out of 10, it's 9. The way I rate is sa kada star equivalent to 2 points and minaminus ko everytime may napapansin ako.
Overall: I read the book version and after every chapter, I went to the Wattpad version just to read the comments (which I regret sometimes since there was spoilers ☹️) but even though I was spoiled, this book would definitely be one of my favorites. I really really love it, and I enjoyed reading it.
Hindi ko sinasabing hindi pde ang ganun pro for me ksi, it's not normal dba? Lalo na if wlang scene na sinabing ganun tlga ang pagpalaki sakanila pro hindi eh, khit ksi mukhang naghihirap sila, actually sa halos lahat ng characters ata English speaking and I find it mejo uncomfortable knowing their social status? Ang mabuti nlng ay maganda yung pagkakasulat and pagkakadeliver, sadyang awkward lng ako kapag ganun.
Second: May mga parts na hindi naclarify? I mean my mg nabasa akong new names na feel ko nmn may impact dpat isang part ng story pro prang hindi na naexplain? Or siguro magiging part sila ng other story na connected dito pro sana nagkaron ng konting note or explanation about dun ksi parang pagkatapos nilang ipakilala, ganun na, wla na sila?
Maybe may nakalimutan pa akong comments ko about dto dahil tlgang nagustuhan ko yung book, and ang basehan ko ksi kapag gustong gusto ko yung book is tlgang ireread ko sya, and I know ireread ko to someday.
its refreshing to read a wattpad book again with taglish and the filipino humor, it was so funny at parts! i was quite slow with reading it and i stopped for a bit, overall the plot was quite nice, cute ni sav and trick tho hihi

it came out strong in the first half of the chapters, but it lost me at the end slightly. the plot was not that good but it was also not meh. some of the minor plots were out of place.
randomly picked up this book at PBF. now, tell me why I spotted a typo on the very first page? despite that, I still finished it. believe me, I tried lol
Okay first of all, the physical copy is the best thing ever. Black pages, beautiful cover art, and page designs. Now on to the story part:
Serialsleeper is definitely a Wattpad gem. The writing in this book however is not the best, a bit cringey, but it's fine. Trick's character is very funny, I like how there's a comedic relief while the story confuses you with the mystery of the 'Hunyango.'
Overall, I enjoyed the book hence the 4 stars. But let's be real, this book can easily have holes and flaws. One of the biggest things I noticed while reading is the flawed revelation of the real Hunyango. While it is our job to guess who's the Hunyango, we didn't get enough introduction to all of the characters. Author intentionally gave the Hunyango less book time to have us forget about them and to surprise us when they got outed as the killer. It's a poor execution. It wasn't shocking, it wasn't unbelievable because we do not have a lot of things to say about the Hunyango. They were not there 80% of the time.
I like the Hunyango lore stuff. What I didn't like is the revival of Trick, where the author bent all rules just to bring him back to the story. It's ridiculous, really.
What matters most, though, is the enjoyment. And I definitely enjoyed this one.

That’s right!!! This is a horror story filled with jawdropping and stomach turning plots. Hunyango is a story about a group of students who went on a hiking trip to Mt. Torryn, which is very mythical and full of secrets. 𝗛𝘂𝗻𝘆𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗼 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗺𝗶𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗲𝗹𝘀𝗲’𝘀 𝗯𝗼𝗱𝘆 𝗯𝘆 𝘁𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗯𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗱.
This was the second book I finished this year and one strange things is that both books highlighted a scene which involves petrichor as a romantic coded plot. I don’t know why but it seems like Petrichor is my word for this year.
I am very satisfied with the ending, which was also supported by its special chapters. I love me some tragic novels, but horror stories are so adorable too and interesting. You can do so much like having your own personal preference of the monster, rather than just seeing what’s in the movies.
Overall, this was a very good read!! It took me two days to finish. Though I know I can finish it in one sitting, I was just too scared to continue🥹 so I took a break.
I randomly saw this while I was browsing at the bookstore, not gonna lie that the premise was quite intriguing. I bought this thinking that it was a horror book, like the kind that makes your feet sweat and keep you sitting on the edge…but wtf half of it makes me think I’m reading a romance book (iykyk). If you wanna read this go ahead, you can absolutely read this book in the middle of the night without being a scaredy cat. This won’t send shivers down your spine, it’ll make you cringe hard instead.
Btw, the copy I got was a special edition which includes bonus chapters and the border art is on point. Despite the things that could’ve been improved, I still find myself enjoying this (I’ve read serialsleeper books when I was younger and I remember liking it, this reminds me of the good old wattpad days). As my first filo book this year, I don’t hate this, I really just wish they could work more on the ‘horror factor’ the plot and the execution could’ve been better.
Not gonna lie, Hunyango reeled me in from the start. The early chapters were gripping—dark, intriguing, and laced with tension that had me flipping pages like crazy. Serial Sleeper definitely knows how to hook a reader with mystery and suspense. But as the story progressed, I found myself slowly detaching. The pacing started to feel rushed, and major plot points were unfolding too quickly for my taste. Then came the twist: spiritual fantasy elements. Suddenly, characters had supernatural powers—and I was left wondering, Wait, what? I wasn’t expecting that kind of shift.
I mean, count me in for Mt. Torryn, but it felt like a jarring detour from what the story originally set up. That said, just when I was ready to rate it lower, the special chapters dropped—and wow, they truly redeemed the story for me. They added emotional depth and gave the narrative the satisfying closure it needed. And I have to say it: I LOVE TRICK. That character alone made the ride worth it.

Sampu silang magkakaibigan ang umalis, sampu rin silang bumalik, ngunit ang isa ay nagpapanggap lamang. Isang Hunyango.
This is my last book for the month of August for #AkdangPinoyReadathon2025, but that doesn’t mean I’ll stop reading works by Filipino authors. In fact, I still have a lineup of books I’m excited to dive into!
Going back to this book, in all fairness, it gave me chills and goosebumps. I missed reading stories in Tagalog. The narrative was truly impressive, especially the twist. I loved the bond between the characters, which made me feel sad when some of them had to say goodbye. I deeply appreciated the themes of family, friendship, healing, and of course, love.
This book made me laugh, cry, and grieve with the characters whose stories came to an end. If you’re looking for a horror story that’s not just scary, but tender and haunting, this one’s for you.
I really loved the plot of this book. I understand that it's a horror-fantasy (supernatural), especially since it involves killer shapeshifters. However, I felt that the fantasy elements overpowered the horror. As far as I know, horror is supposed to be the book's major genre, but the balance seemed to lean more heavily towards fantasy at some point. That's my only critique, though. Overall, I still enjoyed the book.
