Wedding planner Ellie Moon is dreaming up the most beautiful bespoke wedding for Charlie and Daniel, owners of Cornwall’s favourite cream tea bus. Even though her own life has been turned upside down and she’s had to rent out her charming Cornish cottage with its climbing roses and lavender beds, Ellie is determined to give them a day to remember.
Her new tenant, handsome mechanic Jago, keeps popping up around the picture-postcard seaside village of Porthgolow. When they’re thrown together in the effort to help his elderly father get a spring back in his step, she discovers that he is full of surprises. Can romance bloom and give Ellie the fresh start she’s been wishing for?
I grew up in London surrounded by books and with a cat named after Lawrence of Arabia. I studied English Literature at the University of East Anglia and live in Norwich with my husband David.
I'm a total book nerd and my TBR pile is out of control. I would quite like to be a ghost hunter, and I'm a huge fan of a fictional hero.
When I'm not writing, I spend my spare time reading, returning to London or exploring the beautiful Norfolk coastline.
I love hearing from readers, so please get in touch if you have a question or if you just want to say hello.
I've just finished reading this incredibly lovely book and I have a massive smile on my face.
This was just what I needed to read, it's comforting as its part of a series that I'm loving while at the same time feeling fresh and new due to Ellie being a brand new character.
And I loved Ellie, who has been hired as Charlie and Daniel's wedding planner - yes Charlie and Daniel from book 1 are finally tying knot (so long as nothing goes wrong), and its great to see more of their storyline even from an outsider's perspective.
In fact all the previous main characters from the other books are present and it was wonderful to be back amongst familiar faces, and to see all the wedding preparations for the big day.
And it's not smooth sailing at all, and there are numerous challenges that Ellie has to overcome in order to put together the perfect day. While at the same time she keeps seeming to end up in the orbit of Jago, her new tenant, as she can't seem to abandon her garden, and he is hoping to re-connect with his father.
I was going to say that this is a fabulous way to end a series if that was indeed the case, but I've just had a look and so excited to see a book 5 available on pre-order already that I know I can't wait to get my hands on that. There is though a lovely conclusion to this part of Charlie and Daniel's lives, and I'm focusing on them as they stole my heart all the way back in the first book of the series.
This can be read as a standalone but why deny yourself the pleasure of reading three other equally fabulous books featuring Cream Teas, Porthgolow, Gertie, and just incredibly enjoyable writing that will transport you into all of these characters lives.
I absolutely adored this book, I loved the wedding planning, but also the gardening aspects which were calming, the story between Jago and his father, and how central the father is much of the book, who is in fact another character who has stolen my heart! And there are a couple of four legged friends to keep you on your toes too! Cressida McLauughlin at her very best and I'm so glad I've been able to devour this book.
Another highly satisfying read from this series. I didn’t think I could love the main characters any more but this story from McLaughlin did just that.
Another lovely book in this fabulous series. It’s so lovely to dip back into the goings on in Porthgolow and see what everybody is doing. This time it deals with the marriage between Charlie and Daniel plus other characters. I love happy endings and this one has it all. Highly recommend these books.
Review If you want romance, food and Cornish scenery then this is the book for you.
It is beautiful. I didnt want it to end. I could have quite happily carried on reading and finding out what happens after the wedding. The descriptions of Cornwall are stunning and you can certainly feel the sand on your feet. The food sounds amazing and the barn transformation was just beautiful.
I loved the characters within this book, they all bought something different to the table. I really enjoyed watching Arthur's mood lift as his character unfolded.
I'm looking forward to reading more of Cressida's book. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
It’s been lovely being back in Porthgolow again and this time is wedding time. Meeting up with Charlie, Daniel and the others felt like coming home and the introduction of Ellie, Jago, Rose and Arthur was a perfect addition to the story. More than just a wedding story, Cress McLaughlin has a perfect way of writing such emotional topics and I loved how this took me through all the feels.
This series has been so good but this book was outstanding from the beginning the book is written so well and has you hooked from the first page. Lovely to go back to the Cornwall and hear more tales about the bus. The characters are brilliant and the plot is outstanding and has you hooked straight away. It’s full of romance and weddings and families and friendship it’s a heartwarming read with some heartbreak as well. Ellie is a wedding planner and as been ask to plan Danial and Charlie’s wedding and she wants to make a big go of it. Sadly her own life is falling apart as she has split form her boyfriend and having to rent out her beauty little cottage as she can’t afford to run it and she’s moved in with her sister. Jago moves into her cottage and she can see love at first sight when she sees him but doesn’t want to admit it she doesn’t want to give up the garden of her cottage either she keeps seeing jago around and when she goes to the cottage and her sister asks for her help as well as an old man in the home she goes to is loosing the garden he enjoys and she wonders if her sister can help and let jago let the old man tender the garden at the cottage. Little do they know that the old man is jago’s father and jago wants to amend things with him but will they be able to and enjoy time together. Also will Ellie be able to plan all the wedding and make it just perfect for the wedding couple. Problem is the day of the wedding comes and disaster hits and can they all sort it out and the wedding can go ahead or not. Plus Ellie and jago start getting closer but will things break down between them or can they find love together and help each other.
This was the perfect summer holiday read and I didn't want it to end.
I loved the range of characters and the descriptions of the Cornwall scenery, the food, gardens and wedding planning. I mean, who doesn't love a wedding?!
If you're looking for a cosy, comforting read this is highly recommended.
It's like putting on something you will know you will be comfortable in. I was hooked from a few pages in. Thank you Cressida can't wait to read the next in the series and return to Porthgolow x
Ellie and Jago's story was one of happiness and sunny times. I really enjoyed this book and actually it was a bit sad reading the last book set in Porthgolow in the series. However, it was such a fun, easy read.
The Cornish Cream Tea Wedding follows the story of Ellie, a wedding planner, who has had to rent out her cottage in the hopes of gaining more income. Ellie's been tasked to plan the wedding of Charlie and Daniel (from book one), but whilst she's planning the wedding, Ellie is also dealing with her new tenant Jago. Jago has moved from Plymouth to Porthgolow to help his dad and reconcile their relationship.
Jago and Ellie instantly hit it off and their feelings only grow for each other when they keep bumping into each other and their paths keep crossing. Jago's dad lives in the care home near Ellie's cottage, and it just so happens to be where Ellie's sister, Rose, works. Ellie and Jago form a bond of helping his father whilst planning Charlie and Daniel's wedding.
I loved seeing all the different characters from the first three books come into it and also new characters like Jane and Pauline. Ellie and Jago are very different from each other with Ellie being more organised and strict with how she spends her time whilst Jago is more laid-back. However, the opposites attract dynamic rings true and it was great to see the two of them brush off on each other and overcome issues in their personal lives individually whilst learning to be together as well.
The Cornish Cream Tea Wedding was such as a good summer read that I will definitely revisit in the future. If you like any of Cressida's other books, you'll for sure like this one.
I’ve read this book but as the four part ebook series rather than this full length novel, which is why this hasn’t been included or added towards my 2022 reading challenge as the individual four ebooks have been added to it already.
To see my review for this book, then please visit the individual books on here which are as follows:
Cornish Cream Tea Wedding 1. Down on One Knead (2021) 2. Two Tarts Beat as One (2021) 3. You May Now Eat The Cake (2021) 4. Breaded Bliss (2021)
I have really enjoyed reading the Cornish Cream Tea series and I think that Cressida McLaughlin has written a really good book with The Cornish Cream Tea Wedding. We meet some old characters and some new ones in this instalment. It is a great read, I just love this part of Cornwall and I am sure it is based on Mawgan Porth. Brilliant characters, a fantastic location, great plot and of course a wedding. Another fantastic book. Although this is part of a series, I think that it can be read on its own without reading the others but as this is such a great series, I would read the others too.
Such a nice book, it was the perfect escape and hard to put down, I loved it! I was really pleased how everything turned out at the end. Can't wait to read the next one!
The Cornish Cream Tea Wedding by Cressida McLaughlin was an utter joy to read from start to finish. In fact, I think it has been the best book in the series since book one as it just had such a good feeling about it right from the opening page. All the old favourite characters we have come to know and love do make a reappearance but this time around it’s Elowen ( Ellie ) Moon who is the main focus of the story. She is a wedding planner hired to organise the wedding of the stalwarts of the series Charlie and Daniel. A couple who are calm, confident, assured, competent and friendly and one who I feel readers have really been rooting for an outcome for since we first met them. This book felt like their story was coming full circle as we saw their relationship previously blossom and develop and now they are finally tying the knot. The run up to the day and the day itself will not be without its problems and it’s up to Ellie to make sure things turn out OK and the couple are provided with the wedding of their dreams.
Once again Cressida nails the setting of the Cornish coastal village of Porthgolow. I still sit and read these books and just wish that it was a real place and that one day I could pay a visit. Sadly that is not to be but the descriptions and vivid imagery of all the little shops and cobbled streets, not to mention the beaches and rugged coastline are just fabulous and really help to add that little bit of extra sparkle to the book overall. The Cornish Cream Tea Bus, as run by Charlie, features again as do her cousin Delilah and also Hannah from the previous book and I am glad they are not forgotten about but yet at the same time they don’t steal the show. I can’t also fail to mention the descriptions of all the Cornish cream teas and treats that leave your mouth watering and this time around, flowers do have such a symbolic and important role to play particularly for Ellie.
But now it’s Elllie’s turn to share her story and it was a fabulous story to read about. The inclusion of Ellie’s home, Cornflower Cottage, was brilliant as it became a pivotal point for several of the new characters and it allowed different storylines to be explored. The love she has for her cottage and the garden she has created shine through and even though she has moved out and rented it out, and is now living with her sister, the devotion and what it gives her in return on an emotional level are vitally important. The garden and some new friends will hopefully sustain her through the challenging times ahead. As the new characters that feature are all lost in their own way and need some support, comfort and someone to guide them in the right direction. Something that will bond them together and in doing so perhaps they can sort out the problems that seem to dog their life. For too long Ellie has been trying to be independent, to find her own solitary space in the world but she may come to realise that happiness is closer to home and simply found if you look close enough.
Ellie loves every aspect of her job organising every last minute detail until it is just perfect but she is struggling to make a real success of her business even though it is her passion. Having rented out her cottage in order to boost her income she hopes the wedding of Charlie and Daniel will be a great success and even more business will follow through word of mouth. She puts such enormous pressure on herself to make it a day to remember and throughout the book I felt she really doubted her capabilities. She lacked the confidence to just go for it and I think this slightly stemmed back to her previous experiences with her own marriage. But underneath it all you could see she was dedicated, hardworking and had the tenacity to see things through to the very end even is she did waver along the way.
Ellie does go into overdrive to find a suitable location for the wedding and to help Daniel with something extra special for Charlie for the big day. But at the same time she needs to realise she has to allow some room for some spontaneity in her life. To learn that perhaps she can’t control everything solo, that she would drive herself mad trying to and that it’s OK to feel like a failure if something goes wrong but that others will be there to pick and prop you up and to steer you in the right direction. No matter the obstacles, disasters and mishaps that may arise along the way, of which there were many, but they all added to the overall sense of fun and excitement that existed throughout the book. Ellie has the weight of expectations on her shoulders and in my mind she created a lot of this herself as I do think Charlie and Daniel were quite laid back. But I suppose if this is your livelihood you dedicate 110% to it. The wedding fuels a fire in her even more, that perhaps she had been lacking for a little while despite all the brilliant qualities she possessed. She will soon learn as will several of the characters that we grow by making mistakes and learning from them.
Of course there had to be some romance in this story given the title, apart from the wedding which when it eventually arrived was so beautiful and real. Said romance comes in the form of the delectable Jago Carne. Ellie first encounters him on the lane to her house where her car has broken down, he is like the knight in shining armour coming to her rescue. At first she doesn’t realise he is her new tenant for Cornflower Cottage and she wonders who is this man? What is he doing in Porthgolow and most importantly is he married, single or what? What exactly is his story? Jago was a closed book initially until certain things come to light. I loved how his story became so effortlessly intertwined with Ellie’s. Her sister Rose and her job as a district nurse have an important role to play and this strand of the story was touching and heart-warming in equal measure.
Jago needed help and a confidence booster to face what he had been running from. He had his issues but I think in this case he was being a typical man and was finding it difficult to open up. At some points I think Ellie did stifle him when it came to his personal life and the situation he was trying to resolve and she learned this lesson the hard way. Yet at other times the sparks really flew between the pair. The chemistry was undeniable between them and you really wanted them to get together because you just knew they were perfect for each other in every way. That they would really compliment each other. All in all The Cornish Cream Tea Wedding was a fabulous and really enjoyable story and the perfect addition to the series. I look forward to reading Christmas Carols and a Cornish Cream Tea when it is published later this year.
Loved reading about Ellie and her journey as a wedding planner , her clients and her tenant/love interest Jago . Now it took me a while to get back into chick flick books as I’ve been reading a lot of drama and detective based books. So this was a great chilled out , happy go lucky book which left me smiling ☺️
Ah a trip to Porthgolow was just what I needed. The Cornish Cream Tea Wedding was a perfect summery read (and went so well with the wonderful weather this week). It has love, food, flowers and a snuggly warm feeling – what more could you want for a lazy day of reading? This novel is part of a series but it works well by itself too. The more of them you read, the more you become familiar with the characters and the village but there are enough snippets of information to update on who is who. Ellie Moon has been hired to plan the wedding of Porthgolow’s darlings, Charlie and Daniel. She’s determined to get it perfect and make a success of her business (which hasn’t been blooming recently) as well as getting over her divorce and moving in with her sister so she can rent out her beloved cottage. Ellie is a delightful character and is just so joyous to read about. She hasn’t had great luck and yet still manages to be cheery and supportive to everyone she comes across. I was rooting for her from the beginning. Everything and everyone she interacted with is treat with so much care and tenderness I wanted her to find happiness. Jago is also a new introduction, renting Ellie’s cottage, and also trying to reconcile with his father. He is a gentle soul and I like his mischievous sense of humour. I became really invested in his relationship with his father and willed both parties forward. I love all things wedding related and really enjoyed the planning process. A wedding, or news of one, always uplifts my mood – I don’t even need to know the couple and it an be fiction or real life. It was fab to see Charlie and Daniel were also key characters in this book as they began the whole series and have featured in all the novels. Of course, there is no Cream Tea bus without Charlie so it’s pivotal that she is still included. The sub-plot of Arthur’s flower garden and his relationship with his son was equally as enjoyable as the wedding planning plot. It was quite thought provoking about how sometimes relationships break down and risk never being repaired. It was such a tenderly written aspect and I loved it. Porthgolow is such a beautiful setting, a picturesque fishing village by the sea sounds so idyllic and I’d love to actually visit one day – yes folks, it’s real! I loved the book and found it so uplifting. I am looking forward to book 5 and to reading the books I have missed, as I really think I could read about Porthgolow and its inhabitants forever.
This is book #4 of the Cornish Cream Tea series. As the title suggests, there’s a wedding happening in the little Cornish seaside village of Porthgolow. Ellie Moon is a local wedding planner, and she’s been asked to plan the wedding of Charlie, the owner of the Cornish Cream Tea Bus and her fiancé, Daniel. Ellie is a new character to this series, but what a lovely character she is! The book begins with her moving out of her beloved little cottage to move in with her sister, Rose. Ellie has rented the cottage out to newcomer, Jago Carne, who has come to Porthgolow to resolve some family issues. The book focusses on Ellie and Jago’s storylines, but like others in the series you get to meet lots of familiar faces along the way!
I really liked Ellie and related to her easily. She’s working hard to make a success of her wedding planning business but has obviously found it hard to move away from her delightful cottage. Who could blame her though? It sounds such a wonderful place to live with beautiful gardens and a view of the sea! There is obviously a connection straight away between Ellie and Jago, and who could blame her for that as well as Jago sounds an absolute dream! It was a lovely journey following, not just Ellie and Jago’s blossoming relationship, but also the planning of Charlie and Daniel’s wedding! I’ve read all the other books in the series, so I did feel that one of the seats at the wedding should have my name on it!
The book was a delight to read, being light-hearted, fun and plenty of sunshine and blue skies to warm the coldest of days! The village of Porthgolow remained as picturesque in my mind’s eye as it always was, and I loved meeting Gertie again, particularly with her stunning makeover! It was filled with wonderful characters, both old and new and I became completely wrapped up in the storyline very quickly! I am though very sad that I must now wait for book #6 of the series (I’ve already read book #5, Christmas Carols and a Cornish Cream Tea, out of series order!) How will I cope without my Porthgolow fix! This has, so far, been a truly delightful series, which I would definitely recommend!
Cressida McLaughlin is at her enchanting best with her latest uplifting, warm-hearted and wonderfully new romantic tale, The Cornish Cream Tea Wedding!
Wedding planner Ellie Moon is overjoyed that Charlie and Daniel, owners of Cornwall’s favourite cream tea bus, are about to get married. Ellie intends to pull out all the stops and to give the happy couple a wedding day they will always remember. While her professional life is going great guns, her personal one is a completely different story. Having had to rent out her charming Cornish cottage, Ellie’s entire world has been turned on its head, but she intends to make the best of things and not to let her personal woes get in the way of her job. But that was before she began spending more and more time with her handsome new tenant, Jago…
Gorgeous mechanic Jago is worried about his elderly father. Jago would love nothing more than to see his father smile again, but he needs Ellie’s help to do so. As the two of them are thrown together, they begin to get closer and sparks soon begin to fly between the two of them. As a tentative friendship quickly gives way to something far deeper than either one of them imagined, will Jago and Ellie find the courage to take a leap of faith and a chance on a happy ending? Or will they allow their fears and insecurities to get in the way of a love that will last a lifetime?
Summertime escapism does not get any better than Cressida McLaughlin’s The Cornish Cream Tea Wedding. As delicious as an ice cream on a hot day, The Cornish Cream Tea Wedding sparkles with hope, heart and humour and readers will find themselves falling in love not just with the charming village of Portglow, but with Ellie and Jago’s captivating and feel-good love story.
Cressida McLaughlin strikes gold once again with the perfect summertime romance that will keep readers glued to their sunloungers: The Cornish Cream Tea Wedding
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I received a digital ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. I believe that this is the first book that I have read by Cressida McLaughlin, but I can honestly say that it won’t be my last. This story is simply gorgeous and made a dark and dreary evening very enjoyable. Set in Cornwall within the fictional town of Porthgolow, the focus is on Wedding Planner Ellie Moon. Determined to make a success of her fledgling business, Ellie has rented out her beautiful and treasured cottage to handsome newcomer, mechanic Jago. Moving in with her sister, Rose, Ellie hopes to save enough money to give her business a strong foundation. The story focuses on Ellie’s plans for the wedding of Charlie and Daniel, but the arrangements have unforeseen effects on many members of the local area. As Ellie searches for a suitable venue, she discovers that Jago may be able to offer her more support than simply paying his rent and that there are parts of Porthgolow that she has yet to uncover. Originally released as a four-book series, I thought that this story was a breath of fresh air. I loved Ellie and her blossoming friendship with the handsome Jago, which had me turning the pages to see if they would ever act on the obvious chemistry between them. This is a full ensemble piece with some wonderful characters who each add a glorious layer to the overall story. A firm favourite would have to be Arthur, Jago’s grumpy father who struggles to find a common ground with his son. There are various locations mentioned in the story, but Ellie’s cottage garden piqued my imagination, and I could almost smell the fragrant blooms with each visit. There’s a lot happening as the plans for the wedding head to fruition, from a flooded barn to Millicent the friendly pig, there’s plenty to keep your attention and escort you to the big day itself. I loved this book and will look out for more from this author.
This is the perfect summer read – romance, weddings and cheeky animals that steal the show against the back drop of the gorgeous Cornish coast. Contining the adventures and romances of the inhabitants of Porthgolow, the booknpicks up where The Cornish Cream Tea Christmas left off but can be read as a stand alone. The characters from book 1, Charlie and Daniel, owners of the Cream Tea Bus and the Crystal Waters Hotel, are getting married and have due to their busy schedules have hired local wedding planner Elowen Moon to organise the big day. Ellie is the queen of organisation with to do lists for her to do lists – but her own life is going less well. Finances have forced her to rent out her beloved cottage and move in with her sister so she revamp her business. And Charlie and Daniel’s wedding is the high-profile event she is looking for. It just has to be perfect. Ellie’s tenant is Jago, gorgeous (of course), and laid back, the mechanic is the opposite to Ellie, but the attraction is instant. Jago has returned to Porthogolow for reasons of his own. But with Ellie as landlady and finding herself involved in Jago’s personal life romance seems unlikely. The previous characters from the series all cameo in this book in various capacities but there are also fantastic new ones. Ellie’s sister Rose is direct and outspoken and Jane and Pauline are working hard to refurbished their farm and establish it as an events venue despite the mud. I loved Jago’s father, Arthur, who is living in a residential home and still grieving for his wife. The stars of the show are Lord Montague the cat and Millicent the pig who turn up and cause havoc at the worse possible times. This is a fun read. Lots of beautiful scenery, a gardener’s dream and delicious food. Surely its time for The Cornish Cream Tea Bus Recipe Book! Fans of the series will love this and its a perfect joyful summer read.
𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐓𝐞𝐚 𝗪𝐞𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 🍓 ⭐⭐⭐⭐ If there ever was a true feel good, enlightening rom-com, then have it be known, this is up there with the best of them. Absolutely what we all need in this uncertain gloomy world, 𝘌𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘦 𝘔𝘰𝘰𝘯 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘭𝘥 𝘢 𝘣𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘦. This is a part of a gorgeous collection of The Cornish Cream Tea books, but this is actually my first (certainly not my last) and I guarantee this can be read as a standalone free from confusion and disarray. An absolute joy to have experienced, from the characters, to the setting, to the hope and love it oozes from every page. I found the writing style wonderfully easy to capture its reader, and I soon fell in love with more then one character, one with four legs perhaps more than the rest. I would describe this book as 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐨𝐝, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐢𝐠𝐠𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐬𝐨𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐛𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐮𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐩𝐞𝐞𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐬. I have loved every one of the Cornish Cream Tea series but this one felt like a real staging post in the series. Having followed Charlie's story and her romance with Daniel, this book focuses on the preparations for their wedding. Enter the wedding planner, Ellie, and a new set of characters to follow! I liked how the new characters were interwoven with the familiar faces. Ellie turned out to be a likeable yet complicated character who was dead set on improving her wedding planning business and utterly focused on helping couples arrive at the wedding of their dreams. Suffice it to say, in this case, there were some major hurdles, not all of them under Ellie's control. Jago is the mirror image of Ellie as he tends to let life drift by. Ellie struggles with her role as his landlady as she desperately misses her cottage and the garden. Through her actions around the cottage and her attempts to help his father overcome his isolation, you see that she has in fact got a heart of gold. Brimful of romance and set on the beautiful Cornish coast, this has all the ingredients which made the series so loved by its readers. This one will not let you down. In short: Can Ellie make dreams come true? Thanks to the author for a copy of the book
Elowen Moon (Ellie) is a wedding planner and owner of New Moon Weddings. When we meet Ellie she is in the process of organising the wedding of Charlie (the owner of Gertie, The Cornish Cream Tea Bus) and Daniel (the owner of Crystal Waters). She is hoping that organising the village of Porthgolow’s most anticipated wedding that it will give her business the much needed boost it needs. In order to save money she has rented her home Cornflower Cottage, her pride and joy to generate funds to a new tenant, Jago.
Whilst organising the wedding, Ellie also a keen gardener offers to help Arthur a residence of Seascape House Care Home to rehome his garden. It transpires that Jago is Arthur’s son and they have been estranged for many years. So Ellie comes up with an idea to work at the garden at her cottage with Arthur so she can spend more time at the cottage but also to attempt to ease the rift between Jago and Arthur. Can Ellie organise the perfect wedding and fix Jago and Arthur’s relationship? With the weight of the world on her shoulders could Ellie’s professional life or personal life take a tumble?
I absolutely loved this book and it did not disappoint. The last time I visited Porthgolow was December 2020 when I read The Cornish Cream Tea Christmas and since then I’ve been looking forward to returning and meeting the characters again. I adore this series and all the characters because when you read the books it feels like you personally know the characters and Porthgolow just feels like home.
This book and the series are simply amazing and so well written it’s hard not to be sucked into another world. What I liked about the book and the storyline is that it wasn’t just about a wedding. There were many layers to the story in addition to the wedding, Ellie and Jago are getting to know each other and learning to find love again and with the help of Ellie, Arthur and Jago are reconnecting. It was nice to see so many familiar characters incorporated into the story as well as the introduction of new characters. There is just something about the way the characters are written by the author that make them feel like friends rather than strangers. As a character I couldn’t help but like Ellie because she is very funny, especially when she is thinking something but says it out loud instead. When we meet Ellie’s sister Rose there is a clear contrast between the two characters as Ellie is more cautious and methodical whereas Rose is one that will seize the day and just take control.
This book can be read as a standalone but I would highly recommend reading the whole series to get the most out of The Cornish Cream Tea Bus and the Porthgolow experience. You will not be disappointed!
The Cornish Cream Tea Wedding - Cressida McLaughlin
Wedding planner Ellie Moon is dreaming up the most beautiful bespoke wedding for Charlie and Daniel, owners of Cornwall’s favourite cream tea bus. Even though her own life has been turned upside down and she’s had to rent out her charming Cornish cottage with its climbing roses and lavender beds, Ellie is determined to give them a day to remember.
I am almost sad that I have caught up with this series, every time I visit Porthgolow it feels like you are being welcomed back. Once again, Cressida has written this book in such a way that it could easily be read as a stand-alone. This series has so far had me hooked as I am really enjoying the way that new characters are added to the town in each book - meaning that whilst the books are all connected there is no need to worry that there will be a lot of repetition.
I am now really looking forward to reading the fifth book in the series that will be releasing shortly.
Gah Cressida has done it again with another installment in her Cornish Cream Tea series. I love visiting Porthgolow and it made a perfect accompaniment to my own holiday, I didn't even mind that the main character had the same shortened name as me, which does normally cause me issues. Elowyn (Ellie) is a wedding planner and has been having a tough time after her divorce, she rents her much loved cottage out to Jago a mechanic moving back to the area to spend more time with family. All the characters from previous books made a come back, if you haven't read the others it doesn't affect the reading of this one, but I do prefer to read in order. I loved the idea of being a wedding planner, so thoroughly enjoyed reading about the trials and tribulation of Ellie and her business. The fact that Ellie is 40 and has some baggage made her feel real and relatable and Jago was just lovely. Be warned though, this book will make you hungry, so maybe have some snacks on standby just in case.
