Mika works in law enforcement and is married to one of the most distinguished detectives on the police force. While everything looks good on the outside, Mika’s home life is anything but normal. With a controlling, two-timing husband, she buries herself into her career. She soon crosses paths with Jakeel, an ex-con fresh out of prison. The jovial jailbird piques her interest, and Mika soon forgets that there are certain lines you just don’t cross. Playing a risky game, she finds herself in a very dangerous situation, playing with two men on opposite sides of the law. Can Mika walk away, or will she make a move that could lead to murder and mayhem in her once quiet life?
This was good & messy! & had some funny parts. Lol Full disclosure, urban is nottttt my go to !! But this book might have just changed this. It wasn’t just seggs & violence & unnecessary cuss words. The story actually comes together in a way that adds up. The chain of events actually made sense, I had a beginning and a closure. Definitely a high 4.5 to 5 stars I actually don’t have any complaints. Everything that Mika said in this book was a pure fact. Each emotion she felt I feel like other women have either felt at some point in their life. Or had a friend who felt that way.
Mika has been married 15 years. She loves her husband but can tell that he has gotten too comfortable with disrespecting her. Meanwhile her husband, has screwed 1 too many people over. Literally. While Mika is trying to Focous on her job as a Parole officer , & not her cheating husband , her newest client who just did 7 years — is mixed up in the no good doings of her husband. But Mika has no idea. Helping her new client with a 2nd chance on life , will also end up helping her.
This book was good for the beginning to the end. The sad part was Mika was a good woman, and she did not deserve none of the pain that her husband gave her. But in the end she ended up finding love where she never thought she would find love. A beautiful ending.
This book started off dragging a little. But it picked up FAST. The storyline was predictable to a certain extent. But I have to say that I enjoyed the book. The biggest take away: Know your worth.
