When a broomball rivalry turns deadly, can this psychic sleuth save the man she loves? Mitzy Moon doesn’t do sports, but girlfriends are supposed to try new things. And watching her handsome sheriff’s team strut their stuff across the ice has its perks. But the thrill fades faster than cheap lipstick when the opponent’s captain is found murdered, and her boyfriend is the prime suspect.
With no alibi, her main squeeze quickly loses his badge and gets tossed off the case—and the harder Mitzy digs for the truth, the guiltier he looks. She’ll need the help of her interfering Ghost-ma and a spoiled feline to clear her beau and still have time to make a special pie for the holiday potluck!
Can Mitzy score a win for the home team, or will her dreams of a clean sweep be forever frozen?
USA Today Bestselling author Trixie Silvertale grew up reading an endless supply of Lilian Jackson Braun, Hardy Boys, and Nancy Drew novels. She loves the amateur sleuths in cozy mysteries and and obsesses about all things paranormal. Those two passions unite in her Mitzy Moon Mysteries, and she's thrilled to write them and share them with you.
This book series always leaves me with a full heart and a smile on my face. This year has been incredibly hard for me with the pandemic. Well, it's been hard on everyone and this was the perfect book to give me that Thanksgiving cheer and look around and see how blessed I really am.
Mitzy Moon and Sheriff Erick Harper are dating, really care for each other, and are taking things slow. When she goes to her first broomball match, she isn’t ready to see this side of Erick. She’s a little concerned when Erick and a player from the other team fight, but she’s assured that’s how broomball is and that Erick is just defending his team members. But Mitzy has a right to be concerned because that player is found dead the next morning, and Erick is arrested for murder. Poor Mitzy (and poor Erick)! I felt bad for both of them.
The characters in the Mitzy Moon Mysteries are unique, flawed, and loveable. Mitzy is smart, hilarious, and determined. Grams and Pyewacket are supportive and assist her in any way they can. Grams’ lawyer and friend, Silas, also helps Mitzy out a lot, and he’s taught her a lot about using her gifts. He’s a persnickety old man, but Mitzy and Grams love him.
Mitzy goes undercover at the nearby community college. She’s good at going undercover, and Grams always does a good job of picking out the best attire for the job. It cracks me up that in the small town of Pin Cherry Harbor, no one seems to be surprised when they see Mitzy wearing a wig.
Lies & Pumpkin Pies has a big twist that I wasn’t ready for. It is the tenth book in the Mitzy Moon Mysteries series, and if you like murder mysteries with some humor, great characters, twists, and a little romance, you’ll love Mitzy Moon!
Another great mystery in Pin Cherry Harbor! When Erick is accused of murder and the evidence stacks against him, we once again rely on Mitzy and her amazing sleuthing skills, both normal and paranormal, to crack the case. I love how Silvertale weaves a web of lies and clues with both new and old characters making you wonder "who dun it" with every twist and turn. This new story was a great addition to the series, and I can't wait for the next one!
In the last episode of the Mitzy Moon series "Tracks and Flashbacks," Sheriff Erick "To-Hot-To Handle" Harper helped Mitzy in Sedona to track and solve the murder of Mitzy's mother. This time it's the good Sheriff who needs Mitzy's help. After a heated argument on the broomball rink (a bit like ice hockey without the blades and using brooms) The man Erick fought with is found dead the next day and all clues point to the good Sheriff! Can Mitzy prove otherwise, or will she need to learn to bake so she can smuggle a file into jail? So it's back undercover for Mitzy as she and her mentor - in all things alchemical - Silas Willoughby go back to school to find out who would want an aggressive broomball playing, Professor of Archaeology dead?
Another belter of a book, I love Ghost-ma and The tricky caracal Pyewacket if only everyone would listen to him from the start...but then that would deprive us of another of Mitzy's undercover persona's. Trixie Silvertale writes a clever plot with characters who over the 10 books have become friends more than just words on a page. I am invested in what happens to them. When I start reading a book in this series I need to clear my calendar for the next day or two as I do not want to be interrupted I want to read and immerse myself in Pin Cherry Harbor, I want to grab a cup of coffee at Myrtle's diner and shoot the breeze with Odell and Tally, spend an hour in the Rare Books loft of Mizty's book shop picking the brain of Silas over the tomes there, but most of all I would love to have a conversation with Mitzy and find out where she gets her T-Shirts, I want one!
Is it possible to fall more in love with a series? Yes! Yes it is!
In this book Mitzy really has to up her game when it's her sweet hunk of a boyfriend Erick, who is also the Sheriff, that has been accused of murder. Thankfully she still has Ghostma, Pyewacket, and Silas to help her find the real culprit, who by the way is a despicable snake in the grass. Mitzy really kicked some butt in this book. She really showcased all that Silas has taught her thus far. I really loved this book! Another amazing adventure. Can't wait for the next one! I did receive a copy of this book from Hidden Gems, but I loved it so much that I bought it too.
This series gets better with each book! I adore Ghost-Ma and Mitzy. Their relationship just gives me all the feels. In Lies and Pumpkin Pies we have Sheriff Erick in the clink just as Thanksgiving is approaching! Even more shocking is it appears he may have committed murder! Mitzy is definitely on this case. Will she be able to get him free before Twiggy’s Thanksgiving dinner? I love this series so much. I am always eager to read the next book. For me, it’s more than a magical cozy mystery. My draw is seeing Mitzy grow into her new family. In my opinion, this has the Hallmark feel. Orphaned, former foster care kid inherits more than a bookstore from a grandmother she never met and it completely changes her life for the better. Her solving cozy mysteries by new found magical powers, is a bonus. I can absolutely see this on the screen. This is book 10 in the series. While each mystery is complete, the story is such that, this is one series I strongly recommend you start at the beginning with. I warn you, the first book is a rougher Mitzy. She has been through the foster care system. It left a wound that only started healing when Mitzy arrived at the bookstore. This made, for me, a rocky beginning. I have never regretted my staying with the series. By book 3 my heart was stolen and I was a Mitzy Moon fan. I encourage you to start with Fries and Alibis. I promise it won’t take long to catch up as you will become hooked on this series.
Special holiday rule, “I’ll bring dessert” doesn’t mean you have to cook it.
Mitzi is at it again, playing detective. Sheriff too-hot-to-handle gets into a jam, Mitzi is the woman for the job. She even works with detective Paulson. They decide to work together to solve the case and in doing so find they actually have a lot of the same goals. Undercover work is in her blood. She has been dodging men, jobs & landlords for years. I don’t think she ever thought she’d be back in school, on purpose. She’s learning about archeology & Norse history. She’s becoming a mentor to a group of young people & feels a new sense of purpose. Silas, her mentor, works with her honing her new “special skills”. She learns a lot about the people in Pin Harbor. Even people who aren’t family came be the best family you could have.
This is my new favorite and I can't tell you why! I couldn't put it down. Trixie goes to a broomball game and pretty much had a good time even though she doesn't know the first thing about it. Come to find out, Erick is the Captain of the local team and the protector of his teammates. When he and Gerhardt Klang get into a fight after the game, Mitzy is a little disappointed. When Klang is murdered that night, Erick is the only suspect. You better believe Mitzy is on the investigation to clear him. She has help from ghost-ma, Pyewacket and Silas. There's lots of laughs along with tense moments and Mitzy's powers continue to grow. I definitely recommend this 5 star paranormal cozy.
Mitzy is introduced to broomball! When a murder happens and Erick is arrested. It’s up to Mitzy to solve the murder and set him free. Once again Mitzy goes undercover, this time to college. I really love when she goes undercover and tries to blend in. Ghostma come up with the best disguises! I love how her and Mitzy’s relationship is evolving. I also loved seeing a different part of Twiggy and get a glimpse into her home life. Get ready for a big shock in the end with Paulsen! I never saw it coming. I love this book and this series. I couldn’t put it down!
Another great mystery from Trixie Silvertale! I love the snarky, eccentric characters living in Pin Cherry Harbor, Almost-Canada. Mitzy Moon is tasked with solving the crime when Sheriff-Too-Hot-To-Handle, Erick for short, is the prime suspect. It was fun to learn more about him and his mom. Each new book in this series is better than the last, and I really enjoyed this one, especially the great twist in the plot. Looking forward to the next one!
Mitzy goes undercover as Darcy again in this book. Darcy is a very believable persona and is quite successful. This mystery was a bit more intense since Sheriff Harper’s freedom and innocence is at stake. I enjoyed the story immensely and still LOVE Pyewacket and Silas! I liked that there was more involvement with Silas this time. I was also ecstatic with the whole Rory Bombay resolution. This is a fantastic book in a phenomenal series...I loved it!
Murder is once again in the air in Pin Cherry Harbour and this time Mitzy really has to use her sleuthing skills to get to the bottom of this murder else her boyfriend, the sexy sheriff, Erick Harper loses his job, his credibility and ends up in prison. Yes, he is the one accused of killing his opponent in the ice rink, a broomball player, Gerhardt Klang who played on the opposite team to Erick's but there seems to be more to Klang than just a sportsman. In this book Mitzy fights heart and soul for the one she loves, once again going undercover by donning another wig and enrolling in college. I love that Mitzy's psychic powers are growing stronger in every book, and that the romance seems to be getting serious finally. I also enjoyed seeing her working so closely with Silas Wiloughby, her mentor and attorney and friend of her ghost-ma who had made Mitzy her heir upon her death, thus changing her life forever. I also love the input Pyewacket, her inherited caracal adds to solving her mysteries. This series is so much fun to read, it really grows on one and I personally cannot wait for our 11th mystery and dread the day the series ends as every series has to do sometime!
Deputy Paulsen finally has Sheriff Erick Harper right where she wants him. In jail! The bully from a rival broomball team is found dead after a very public fight with Sheriff Harper and the Sheriff doesn't have an alibi.
Deputy Paulsen isn't exactly working hard to clear her boss, so it's up to Mitzy, Silas, Pyewacket and Ghost-ma to clear his name. What important clues will Pyewacket find? How will Mitzy's Pin Cherry family help her get her favorite Sheriff out of jail?
You definitely don't want to miss Mitzy's latest adventure! There are twists, turns, laughter and the good food from Myrtle's dinner as Mitzy solves this puzzle.
Another fast paced mystery added to this wonderful series! Sheriff Eric finds himself forced to sit on the sidelines which is code for...in jail. Yes, Mitzi and her quirky crew must come to the rescue. I thorough enjoy the creativity of this author! Every tale is different, and all the nuances of each scene makes me feel as though I am watching everything unfold. The storyline is a wonderful blend of mystery murder with a finch of supernatural. All my reviews are always voluntarily written.
Another great book by the talented author Trixie Silvertale. When a captain of the opposing Broomball team ends up dead, all evidence points to Mr Too Hot To Handle (aka Erick) as the culprit, and its up to Mitzy to clear his name before he loses his badge and goes away for murder. But who could hate Erick enough to frame him and send him away for something he didn't do? Its up to Mitzy, Ghostma, Silas, and Pye to step up their game and solve this case before its too late, but can she do it, or will whoever is setting Erick up get to her first?
I thought this was another good book in this series.
I thought this book was super fun. I love when Mitzy goes undercover because we get to see her fun and playful side. I also enjoyed the humor in it, which is always a plus to me. On top of the usual entertaining sleuthing theme, there was an interesting story arch to keep the reader engaged as well.
If you are looking for hilarious shenanigans, paranormal detective work, and a growing love story, then Lies and Pumpkins Pies would be a good book for you.
I have been a fan of the Mitzy Moon series since it first came on the scene with Fries and Alibis! This is such a fun series and in true Mitzy fashion she uncovers the real murderer when she takes on the case! Of course this time she has an special interest in finding whodunnit because the suspect is her boyfriend,” too hot to handle handsome Sheriff Erick Harper”!
With her three special sidekicks, Ghost Gams, Pyewacket, and Silas they all add their input to help her decide on the best course of action to take and during that investigation who should show up but her old nemesis from some previous cases!
I urge you to get involved with this series today because I know you’ll become “hooked” as all of Trixie’s fans are with this delightful series! Her fans just keep growing and I’m sure you’ll want to “catch up” with all the previous books as well so you’ll be like all of us watching and waiting patiently(?) for the next installment to find out whodunnit and how Pyewacket gives Mitzy the clues she’s needing to solve the case with the assistance of Ghost Grams and Silas of course!
Bravo fo another great story Trixie and I can’t wait for number 11 to come out!
This another great installment in the series. Following an altercation at a Broomball match the previous night, the sheriff is arrested on suspicion of murder, when his opponent is found murdered. Of course Mitzy dives into the investigation, to prove his innocence. This case involves undercover work and an old enemy. Failure is not an option.
Keep writing them Trixie and I will definitely keep reading them. This was another great read and so much fun with the shoe on the other foot this time. I love this series and always look forward to the next book to snuggle down with.
Mitzy is watching her hot sheriff play broomball. New to her, but satisfying to watch from many different angles. However, after a satisfying win, Sheriff Erick finds himself in jail charged with the murder of a member of the opposition. Mitzy is forced to attend college classes undercover to find the murderer.
Once again, another home run (or broomball goal) for this author. I love the characters and the story line. Can’t wait for the next installment!
This is such a great series. This time Mitzy has to help Erick. Erick has a fight with an opponent during a broomball game and when the man is found dead, Erick is arrested. It seems like an open and shut case. Mitzy knows he would never kill anyone and sets out to prove it. She has to go back to college to get the information she needs to clear Erick. What she finds is an old nemesis. Can she clear Erick of the murder charge?
Another great Mitzy Moon story. This time Sheriff Too hot to handle is the one wrongly accused and Mitzy must find the real killer before the Sheriff is sentenced for a crime he didn’t commit. I loved the unfolding of the clues and the intensity I felt while Mitzy scrambled to unravel this mystery. It also had those cute moments of “Aw” and of course the relief of a good laugh before things got too intense to handle. Another great novel and I can’t wait for the next one!
I loved this book. The sheriff is arrested for murder and Mitzy has to save the day and goes undercover at a college. This series is wonderful. Love the characters and seeing them grow and develop more with each book. The writing is interesting and humorous. It’s one of my favorite series. I can’t wait to see what happens next.
Mitzi and Erick are back in Pin Cherry Harbor after uncovering the story of Mitzi's mom out in Arizona. Things are quiet until a professor at the local university is killed. With Erick's permission(!) Mitzi goes undercover to find out what was so precious that someone was killed for it. With Silas filling in for the murdered professor, he and Mitzi infiltrate the clique of preferred students in the course to discover something is very, very wrong. Another great Mitzi Moon story from Trixie Silvertale!
In the latest addition to the Mitzy Moon series the latest murder mystery becomes personal when involves Erick and an unsavory person from the past. A college professor is murdered and Mitzy goes uncover as a transfer college student with Silas going uncover as the temporary professor. It takes both of them plus Pye to solve this one and get to the bottom the murder. Great story and as always cannot wait for the journey with Mitzy Moon and the gang.
This continues to be my favorite cozy series. All kudos to the author, one supremely talented lady with many loyal followers in each of her series! So if you have never visited Pin Cherry Harbor in almost Canada, why not pick up this book and go there today?
Mitzy has helped her almost boyfriend, Sheriff Erick, solve plenty of murders since moving to town. She has even been accused of committing more than one of the crimes.
But what will Mitzy do when Erick is suspected of a crime? Go undercover of course! Even Silas jumps in to try and clear Erick’s name. Who could possibly want Erick out of the way?
Grab this latest adventure of Mitzy Moon and find out!
Trixie does it again! This series never gets stale. Fast-paced. A real page-turner. “Lies and Pumpkin Pies” gets really personal for Mitzy when her boyfriend Sheriff Eric is accused of a committing a murder, and she has to use her sleuthing skills to free her man. And a cad from the past reappears,
The gang is all here in this installment – Ghost-ma, Pyewacket, Odell, and all the endearing residents of Pin Cherry Harbor. And Silas goes undercover as a college professor! But the best part of this series overall is watching Mitzy learn to trust and love those around her. That is a big deal for someone who grew up in the foster care system. I would love to live in Pin Cherry Harbor!
The sweet romance between Mitzy and Eric continues to deepen. Surely soon Eric will be told of Mitzy’s special “gifts”. I am sure he is already suspecting something.
If you are looking for a sweet quick cozy mystery read, I HIGHLY recommend this series. I get excited with each announcement of a new book in the series.
I did receive an Advance Reader Copy of this book. The opinions expressed herein are entirely my own.
Sheriff Too-Hot-To-Handle is under arrest on suspicion of the murder of a member of the opposing broomball team, and Mitzy is in high gear to prove to Paulsen that she's on the wrong track . . . AGAIN!
Can "Darcy Brown" uncover the truth quickly enough to rescue Erick from being on the wrong side of the holding cells without his help?
Is it possible that Mitzy and Paulsen are on the same side this time?
Lies & Pumpkin Pies lays it all out there, with even Silas taking an active part in the investigation – what could possibly go wrong?
Another great read, totally unputdownable; I read it ONE afternoon! I highly recommend it. And if – for some reason – you haven't traveled to almost Canada to meet all the inhabitants yet, trust me – you can read Lies & Pumpkin Pies easily as a stand-alone, but you'll soon be so drawn in that the other nine will be next on your TBR!
[I was fortunate to receive an Advanced Reader Copy of the book from the author, with no obligation to review. All opinions expressed herein are entirely my own.]
Brilliant, loved the characters especially the cat, storyline was superb with an excellent adversary returning from previous novels in the series. Great paranormal touches and a lovely touch of humour. I would highly recommend to aid your enjoyment that you start earlier in the series but this can be read as a standalone. Just listened to the audiobook. Excellent I received an ARC copy through Hidden gems and am leaving a voluntary honest review.
Loved it! I have always liked archeology but know how crooked some people can be about it too. :( As from the beginning, love the characters and their interaction. Each main character is growing in personality, they seem so real and believable. The twist on what happened to the criminal is fabulous and so totally unexpected. You keep writing them and I will definitely keep reading them.
