Metok is banished from his tribe to the top of a Himalayan mountain, Mount Enkidu. He soon discovers a hole that transports him to a warm world filled with two rivaling one an omnipotent being restricted to the jungle, the other a group of people residing in a crater in the endless plains. Metok struggles to find his place among both and discovers to what lengths he will go to become accepted.
I enjoyed the uniqueness of the protagonist's dilemma, the settings and the pacing/flow of the story. It was interesting that I was never 100% sure which side I wanted to believe/root for, since there were merits and suspicions aplenty for either. However, I would have preferred it if the ending were a little more fleshed out, as it felt a bit abrupt. I won't say any more so I don't spoil anything. Incredibly imaginative and rich!
