Patricia Fisher is trying to settle into village life, but the dead won't let her be. She’s a P.I. and used to investigating murder, but her latest case is just … well, it’s spooky.

What started as a missing person case goes south fast when a body marked with pagan symbols is found in the woods. It’s her client’s son-in-law, but the daughter is still out there and a chance encounter with another investigator, none other than famed paranormal investigator Tempest Michaels, sets Patricia on a path of paranormal discovery and starts a race against time to save the missing woman.

The pagan symbols point to a hidden cult and the dread suspicion that they plan to sacrifice her client’s daughter at midnight on Orion’s solstice.

And that’s tomorrow night!

While the police chase false clues, Patricia’s super-team follow the breadcrumbs, but they soon discover this case is far bigger than they thought. As they glimpse the truth, and her friends start to go missing, Patricia realises she has come too far to stop now …

This humorous cozy mystery contains no cussing and no graphic descriptions of violence or sex.

Let's start this off with an invitation to get some FREE books. No, you didn't read that wrong, we are talking about multiple free books. I love giving away free books because once people delve into the fast-paced mystery thrills I write, they go on to buy lots more.

All I need from you is an email address to send them to. Here's the link you need - https://mailchi.mp/fd47a6eb4ae5/patri...

When I wrote my first novel, Paranormal Nonsense, I was a Captain in the British Army. I would love to pretend that I had one of those careers that has to be redacted and in general denied by the government and that I have had to change my name and continually move about because I am still on the watch list in several countries. In truth though, I started out as a mechanic. Not like Jason Statham, sneaking about as a contract killer, more like one of those greasy gits that charge you a fortune and keep your car for a week when all you went in for was a squeaky door hinge.

At school, I was mostly disinterested in every subject except creative writing, for which, at age ten, I won my first award. However, calling it my first award suggests that there have been more, which there have not. Accolades may come but, in the meantime, I am having a ball writing mystery stories and crime thrillers and will claim to have more than a hundred books forming an unruly queue in my head as they clamor to get out.

Now retired from the military, I live in the south-east corner of England with a pair of lazy sausage dogs. Surrounded by rolling hills, brooding castles, and vineyards, I doubt I will ever leave, the beer is just too good.

Solstice Goat is the second book in the Patricia Fisher Mystery Adventures and the first book in the Patricia Fisher Blue Moon Mysteries.

That's right!!! steve higgs has brought P.I. (private investigator) Patricia Fisher together with P.I. (paranormal investigator) Tempest Michaels of Blue Moon Investigations. This is truly a winning combination!

I loved this book and found that the characters complement each other perfectly and work well together with their teams to solve this mystery. This book kept me completely entertained from start to finish with quirky characters, humour, action, pagan rituals, danger, and intrigue.

I cannot wait for the next book in this fabulous series!
I read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book with no obligation.

Knowing Patricia was hired to investigate the disappearance of a young married couple, her friend Detective Mike Atwell calls when a body is found in a copse just off the beach. A young man is seated in a chair made from broken tree branches, his naked body covered with pagan symbols and dead from a stab wound to the heart. Not far away, Patricia notices a tall man and realizes she’s met him before — he’s Tempest Michaels, owner of the Blue Moon Investigation Agency. She rents his former office space across the street and they previously bonded over owning dachshunds.

Now, approaching the crime scene, he admits an interest in the case — a year earlier, he was hired to find two missing women, but their bodies turned up in similar condition. He hasn’t been able to forget them, and the two decide to work together, although Patricia’s new client will take precedence.

It’s clear to Mike, as well as forensic experts Steven and Simon, that the victim was ritualistically murdered. With help from bookshop owner Frank, Tempest and Patricia are soon scoping out an abandoned industrial plant, where an occult group prepares to sacrifice a young woman — halted, of course, by the timely arrival of what appears to be a floodlight-equipped police helicopter with a bellowing Mike on the horn, followed by Patricia driving a participant’s pricey BMV into an empty drainage pool. However, the police threat is just a ruse to intimidate the cultists, comprised of a crew headed by the ever-resourceful Jermaine, and the cult members vanish into the night before the arrival of DI Quinn and the newly-installed Chief Constable for Kent, Albert Brady. The latter is so infuriated by the botched raid that he upbraids Quinn and fires Mike on the spot. Stunned, Mike retreats with Patricia and Jermaine to her palatial manor along with Tempest, Big Ben (summoned to the plant by his old army buddy), and Jermaine’s boyfriend Marcus, the helicopter pilot. With Barbie in the mix, they devise a plan.

Patricia hadn’t planned on dazzling anyone during the rescue, but the newly elected Lord Mayor of Kent, David Sebastian, accompanied Brady to the plant and is thoroughly smitten by his new constituent. Although a bit flattered by his attention, she finds his unnecessary presence suspicious, which prompts Tempest. Calling upon Jane Butterworth’s invaluable hacking skills, he manages to snag the gang invitations to the exclusive birthday party of porn magnate Ivor Biggun, where Sebastian will be an honored guest, and they chase down the Lord Mayor, only to find far more dangerous activity on the menu.

After Mike is ambushed at the Kings Hill bypass while following an influential cultist, Jermaine and Patricia track the entire group to an ancient historical site. What they find stuns behind belief, quashing their theories and revealing a very personal group of hostages, as well as the identity of the murderous High Priest.

Steve Higgs has crafted a paranormal mystery combining the indomitable forces of two of his favorite characters and created an new and outstanding story that will doubtlessly lead to many more.

This is a great story. Pagans and partying. All in all it's a damn good read!

If you like the sort of story, 'hinged around a local town with lots of excitement,' sort of book then this is the very book for you.

Patricia Fisher has a lot on her plate, when she is hired to investigate two missing persons. A husband and wife. But before she can begin to do more than make a start on the case, one of them is found dead in and unnaturally arranged. It appears to have been something to do with a pagan cult. Now Tempest Michaels and the Blue Moon agency are joining forces with Patricia Fisher and her loyal team, to find out what the heck is going on.

This story is filled with dangerous situations and battles that would make you wince, plus many fun outcomes. It's an utterly brilliant book to read!
I really enjoy Patricia's stories; they are always a laugh and are always cleverly written...wait till you get to the bit with the underwear, what a laugh!

It's hard to say what is the best part of this book, it has so many good points to it. But I have to say that the bit with council meeting was the part that made me laugh the most! I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall as the old saying goes. Yes, I know that it's not real...leave a girl her dreams ok!

Anyway, as I was saying, this is a brill book. It has the ability to make a dull afternoon into a great one, at least it did for me!

It doesn't get any better than to blend Patricia Fisher and Tempest Michaels working together to solve a case. Patricia has solved many crimes with the help of her friends. Tempest has also solved his cases with the help of his friends. Put the two together and the fireworks explode.

Steve Higgs has taken his stories up a notch by matching these to sleuths together. His characters are fully fleshed and are consistent throughout his books. You can read the series in order or they work just fine as stand-alones. I can't wait to see what adventures Patricia and Tempest have next. I definitely recommend this series.

I’d actually give this 3.5. I’m getting tired of reading about the silly dog. I appreciate Big Ben; Barbie is somewhat annoying. The pagan tie-in is intriguing.
Patricia is hired to track down a couple that has disappeared. The husband’s body shows up dead. The police officer in charge finds Patricia rather annoying, even though she has helped solve cases. In fact, he gets so ticked off that he fires Patricia’s friend on the police force. Then, a much higher level officer shows up and wants credit in solving a big case, and wants them all to stop interfering.
I have ordered a few prequels, but I don’t know if I’ll continue the series.

Solstice Goat

Patricia is hired to find a missing couple by the woman's father. When the husband is found murdered and has pagan symbols painted on him she teams up with fellow private detective Tempest Michaels from Blue Moon 🌙 agency. They have to unravel all the clues and misdirection to solve the case. The characters from both agencies working together was really fun to read and some of the things Patricia did had me laughing just picturing it in my head. Can't wait to read the next book.

I suppose I am used to Patricia and her team solving puzzles on their own. Adding the Blue Moon team took something away from that for me. But this is only my personal opinion of what suits me. I'm sure other fans will welcome the combination of talents these two teams bring and be looking for the next book in the series. It was still a great story and thoroughly enjoyable book. You do write a ripping yarn Mr. Higgs :)

Love the mix of characters!
A great story which also adds characters from another series as they join together to figure out what's going on when a man is found murdered and his wife is missing. I just love the author's imagination and how swiftly and smoothly his mind works to create the most interesting stories. Such an intricate weave, and yet, he does it with ease! Don't miss out on a great adventure!

Patricia is still working on the missing person case when the son in law is found dead with pagan symbols on him. The race is on to solve the case before the full moon when a local sect wants a blood sacrifice to summon an ancient god. The problem is that a high profile person is involved and Dt Atwell has been fired.

Is it possible that the Patricia books keep getting better? I love this series! The action kept coming with humor to keep it going. The cross over of the Blue Moon crew helped that a lot and I always love those guys in action. Even Quinn is becoming a familiar irritation. Another excellent Steve Higgs story. Recommended.

A bit of a romp. It scrapes in to three stars for pace and amusement, for me an small improvement on the first in the series. Its punch-em-up,shock-and-awe, car-chase, style is better suited to an old B-grade movie or tv filler series than reading. Nevertheless I kept reading in a break between a couple of long, demanding reads.
And I’ll probably read the next in the series.

Patricia Fisher along with her Butler Jermaine and her friend Barbie investigate another murder. Patricia is an investigator who gets some interesting cases and one leads her to a pagan cult whose members act like demons by sacrificing young women. Her boyfriend Mike got fired when he tried to look into it however the police chief had good reason to want him out of the way .....

Awesome

Steve I have no ideas where you get your ideas from. But love the idea of over lapping some of the characters. It brings all your books together but yet making each book more interesting. Each book is a challenge in it's own way to figure out. Amazes once again. On to the next one.

Really good

Well, Patricia joins up with Tempest to find missing girls and friends out that there are Pagans about and they are going to do a sacrifice. Murder, bombs and mayhem all happen when they bring the group to justice. I can't wait to read the next book.

This story is longer and a little grittier than the previous novels, although still no graphic language, sex or violence. There is still murder, mayhem and humor. This tale involves pagans, rituals and Patricia saving the day once more.

Nice mix of two investigation styles.

As always, good. Just did not seem as humorous as Patricia Fisher usually are. Nice introduction to Tempest Michaels if you've never read the Blue Moon Investigations series.

Congratulations Steve on reducing the typos in this book! You are a prolific and clever writer and I really enjoy your Patricia Fisher series but “James Whitmore” and “Anthony Perkins”? Too cutesy for me. I look forward to the next in series!
