Fiona Miers has a super busy life, like most modern women. But she always finds time for reading and writing romance.
Her love affair with the romance genre started when she was only 11 years old, when her mother and Nana handed her her first Mills and Boon.
Since that day, she's built her own business, become a mother to two beautiful little girls, and fallen in love with the most spectacular man on the planet.
Fiona writes historical romance. She also writes paranormal romance and more erotic stories under the pen names, Amelia Shaw and Tamsin Baker.
I tried with this one but gave up. The premise was great but the execution was terrible. It was boring and plodding and I just couldn’t get into it. Also, I was disappointed because the hero is supposed to be really shy with women but somehow is super sauve with the heroine. I wanted to see some stuttering and stammering and shyness with her, dammit!! It just fell apart for me. Maybe someone else can have better luck with it, but it was too boring for me.

Will they let a scoundrel tear them apart ...
Oh my it has been a while since I have read this author, I loved her Heir And Spare series. So when I saw this upcoming release, I could not let it pass, even more as it was abut a scholar wallflower. Robert, despite being a duke’s son, is a quiet man all devoted to his work and more than shy among women. In fact he loses his nerve when he is to talk to a woman. When he is all verve when he plaids in court but tongue-tied if he is to address a lady. Until he meets a miss who seems to free his mind and allow him to be himself with her. Julia is a sweet and kind young miss with a good heart. Why she keeps company to her great-aunt, seing past the elderly matron’s character. She is no demure miss but does not believe marriage is the right answer for her. Yet with Robert, she feels like she has found a kindred soul, if only her peace of mind was not threatened by her hostess’s grandson, a selfish cad.
A fun and fast paced read with two sweet lovers and a ugly villain.
𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 onscreen detailed lovemaking scenes.
I have been granted an advance copy by the author, here is my true and unbiased opinion.
Very frustrating, too much telling, not enough showing. For example “Freddy continued throughout the night to act inappropriately.” HOW? What did he do? Too much of this type thing.
ADULT Historical Regency Romance 💕 Robert🐺🍆⛲, the third son of a Duke, is a barrister. Jobs or careers were highly frowned on by the aristocracy, but the author has him working . He travels to his brother, the Duke's estate🏰 for a get together, and gets involved in a family dispute at the neighbors estate🏰.
The neighbor, Arabella👵, an older wealthy woman, has her great niece, Julia💃💋, there as a companion for the summer. Robert🐺🍆⛲ and the niece are smitten💕, but Arabella's wastrel grandson, Freddy👺, tries to come between them. He's only in it for the 💰money.

I enjoyed the book but it needed a good proofreading and there were a few confusing parts that had a bit of continuity problems. I thought Julia's character was rather weak and indecisive. Lord Robert 🐺🍆⛲had a stutter around women, but Julia💃💋 had a worse problem asserting herself, even when it was all important!
I thought this was poorly written and poorly edited. I shouldn’t have finished reading it because it really was a waste of time. The one concept of his crippling shyness around women wasn’t really developed and his brothers came across as just mean and cruel. Strange book.
I liked portions of this story. The characters were pretty easy to sympathize with but the flow needs work. I don't really care for the lackluster way the villain is dealt with. First she decks him, then cringes when the hero does the same. I'm sorry but meh.
The main characters are likable, nothing new in the storyline. The only thing of interest about Robert is that he is very shy around beautiful women which makes his brothers behave like middle schoolers by teasing him (a reason not to read any other books in the series).
The book needs an editor - the heroine’s name changed from Julia to Abigail several times. The inappropriate use of first names was grating.
Lord Robert and His Bride, Book 2 of The Duke's Brothers series (which should have been named "The Duke and His Brothers, since Book 4 is about the Duke himself), was about Lord Robert Melton, the second brother to Charles Melton, the Duke of Waign, and Miss Julia Gould, grand-niece to Lady Arabella, neighbor to the Melton family. Julia was spending the summer with Lady Arbella, her great-aunt, as she had for the past several summers. When Arabella's grandson showed up, uninvited, unwelcome, and demanding she pay off his debts, Arabella sent Julia to the Duke's home to ask for Robert's assistance with dealing with him. Robert made several inquiries about Julia's cousin, Freddy, to find out how deep his debt went and what could be done to prevent him from further harassing Arabella and Julia. While waiting for a response, Julia was threatened repeatedly by her cousin and Robert was determined to ensure her safety. This book moved at a faster pace than the first one and therefore any chemistry between Robert and Julia did not truly have time to develop properly. There were hints at a possible passion, but it just simmered below the surface. There was a touch of angst and drama, but more than anything all that really happened was that Robert's siblings went overboard about his inability to interact with women on a general basis. The brothers often overstepped the boundaries of teasing and were sometimes even cruel in their treatment of Robert. As fast as this book maneuvered, it really didn't have the time to truly form a good romance novel. More than anything, it could have been described as a mere outline of a possible book that really never developed into a complete story. It lacked completion. That being said, I couldn't give this book even a 4-star rating, nor could I add it to the Keeper for the Shelves collection. If the author were to revamp the story, add a little more meat to the bones, and fill it out with ... anything, actually. It was like being offered a steak and only being given a seasoned bone with no meat.
Lord Robert Melton is a successful barrister yet he is quiet and shy, and he finds it difficult to converse with women. He is visiting his family's country estate in the off-Season to enjoy its beauty. He finds that Lady Julia, a sweet young woman visiting her Great Aunt Arabella for the summer, doesn’t provoke the same degree of shyness, however. In fact, she calms him and the two are attracted to each other.
But in the midst of things, an obnoxious relative, Freddy, arrives uninvited to demand Lady Arabella pay off his gambling debt. He further intends to marry Lady Julia, only for the money, of course, and he will ruin her reputation if that is what it takes to force her compliance!
The ladies consulted with Lord Robert, their barrister neighbor. Will he be able to intervene with Freddy? Can he stop his harassment of Lady Arabella? Can he find a way to protect Julia and keep her reputation intact?
This was such a good story! The characters were likable, even with their imperfections, with the exception of Freddy the lout! The story line was well-paced and gave the reader hope for a happy ending with the skillful barrister on the job! Grab your copy and see whether he can truly thwart Freddy and save the day!
I have been looking forward to this book ever since I finished reading the first book in the series, Lord James and his Bride. This book lets us know more about the second Melton brother, Robert who is shy among women but is an orator in Parliament where he frequently displays his skill as a barrister. Robert meets Julia, who is spending the summer as a companion to her Great-Aunt Arabella, and the two of them just click. Neither of them has thought very much about marriage for themselves but now they begin to wonder if that might just be a possibility. Enter the villainous grandson of Arabella who is bound and determined to ruin things for everyone unless something is done to stop him. Another wonderful book by this author and now I will anxiously wait for the book featuring the third brother, Thomas to be released soon!

Robert is a barrister who finds it difficult to speak with beautiful women. When Julia comes to him for help at the request of her great aunt, he is surprised that he can converse easily with her. They meet several more times and just click. Meanwhile, her great aunt’s uncouth grandson who has arrived unannounced and uninvited, is making demands and causing trouble. Things come to a head and serious decisions need to be made. Julia and Robert are both endearing characters who make an adorable couple. Freddy is despicable, and Arabella is not the wizened old coot she pretends to be. This story has a few close calls, emotional ups and downs and a wonderful cast of characters. It is a beautiful tale that leaves you smiling and satisfied.

Lord Robert and His Bride. I found this book to be a good read. I was caught up in the story. The characters were quite interesting and gave me a sense of English living. The language was so historical and relevant to the times of the story. Julia was a perfect lady and discovered that maybe she would find love while visiting her Great Aunt Arabella. She had obstacles to get over but Robert seemed to be the one to help her through it all. Robert comes to her rescue several times. But once again, true love wins. This is another great story in this series! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. *** I voluntarily read a Review Copy of this book. This is a dramatic, interesting, sweet and romantic story. Robert is always nervous and tongue tied around pretty women, until the day Julia shows up at his brother's house to see him about a legal matter. Rather he finds himself at ease with her. Julia had not been interested in getting married, until she finds herself intriguingly drawn to Robert. As they spend time together, while Robert deals with Julia's great-aunt's legal problem with her grandson, they find themselves becoming closer and more interested in each other. But there is trouble lurking around Julia and her great-aunt that threatens Robert and Julia's future. This story is so easy to get into but not to put down. I loved the storyline and characters.
I liked the plot and how it proceeded through the book. It seemed like the plot could actually happen. The character portrayals leading up to the main action was great. This book has a great balance in it between details and action. The only thing I didn't think necessary were a few details in the last couple of chapters. It seemed like she was trying to squeeze in steamy scenes. It just didn't feel like the book needed it.

A fun book. This was a fun book to read it had great characters that I just loved. It had some steamy scenes with a plot that was so realistic. Robert a barrister who has a problem with speaking to ladies now his brothers Charles and James has tried to help but nothing works. Julia is a sweet wallflower and appears to be the only lady Robert has been able to be himself and he fell hard. A great villain with awesome twists that were wonderful. I really enjoyed the books and I highly recommend it. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
Robert is a barrister in London and retreats to his family estate. There he meets Julia, who is staying with her great-aunt. Robert is very shy around women but can argue in the courts. Julia is not looking to marry. Then Freddie her cousin comes to stay and demands his aunt pays his gambling debts and make advances on Julia. He thinks he will have her and tried to ruin her. Robert is a kind person and is always trying to do right. This is not a long story but it was entertaining. Regency is one of my jams.
The second book in the Duke's Brothers series a well written story that held my interest until the end. Successful barrister Lord Robert Melton, and Lady Julia Gould's story. They meet in Weymouth because Julia and her Great-Aunt Arabella need his help against Julia's cousin Freddy, a really nasty man. I enjoyed seeing this story unfold, they where just meant to be together. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is the first book by Ms.Miers that I have read, but not the last. She has presented us with well drawn characters in challenging circumstances, and surrounded by lovely settings.
It is nice to see characters to are drawn to the comfort and acceptance thay find in each other. Support from extended family promises that this really is a HEA ending.

I could easily predict the next chapter, same plot as previous book! Even the steamy sex scene was basically the same. The introduction
of Freddy was at least a new twist. I like historical romance, not much interested in their sex lives, that's just to sell books, I guess. I am interested in see in what the author does with Tho.as in Book Three!
I so much enjoyed this wonderful story. I loved Robert I thought he was an exceptional character, always doing for others. Julia is so likable, she isn’t afraid to speak her mind. I was intrigued from the beginning and it didn’t let me go, even at the end.

I enjoyed this book. Lord Robert is a barrister in London and a successful one even though he has problems speaking around women. When he goes to the family estate in Weymouth for the off season, he meets the lovely Lady Julia. A spark ignites and of course there's romance and a nasty cousin to deal with that's intent on inheriting his grandmother's estate.
The beginning of this story was nice and naturally paced for a new relationship. But then midway through the author threw in a scene in a sitting room that I believe was out of character for Julia and Robert. And then rest of the story was sent into hyper speed so the story could end with the typical happy ending. I was disappointed.
A beautifull story about a shy man and a sweet lady . A very good great aunt , a evil cousin . I just hope that we can read the story of the Duke and Emma .

At a loss for words. This story actually started out well. Too bad it couldn't continue. It did successfully end up as yet one more pandemic era piece of garbage literature, however.
I thought the book was good. I enjoyed it very much. This was when there was Lord s and Dukes. I loved when Robert married his wife. I especially loved it. When Freddy got what he deserved. I hope that you enjoy it has much as I did.
He always stuttered when in the social setting of a beautiful woman. That was before he met her. She was visiting her great aunt in the country when her crazy cousin showed up demanding money and marriage. Good story with lots of twists and turns.
