At five years old, I met her. The girl who would change everything. She hunted; I killed. Granted it was only a spider, but it was a lifetime pact. She hunts for me. I kill for her. But nothing good lasts. She hates me. I loathe her. Until I can barely recognize the friendship we once had. The only thing we still share are the lies…

This preview of what is to come in this series was impressive and very intense. Langston and Liesel's story began immediately, and very powerful for two young children to make such a serious pact. I can't wait to read more!
Lies We Share is the Prologue to the spinoff from Truth or Lies and Sinful Truths. This fast-paced, well written BBF short novella has an intriguing storyline and introduces you to Langston and Liesel. It does end on a cliffhanger.
I voluntarily reviewed and advance reader copy of this book.
When this pair was 5-8 years old they met each other as next-door neighbors as Langston tried to escape the house after one of his father's drunken rampages. Outside he met a little girl who was just like him and came from an unstable house - Liesel. She was trying to hunt a spide that had been annoying her the past few days. The pair connected and soon Langston had the nickname Killer and Liesel had the nickname Huntress. As the pair grew older, they stayed each other's confidants until Langston's mother died, and then his father remarried a wealthy person when he was 12 years old. During this time, Liesel snuck in as Langston and took his beating. She never told him. The book then jumps to fifteen and eventually 16-18 years old where Liesel's mother is a maid for one of Langston's friends and Langston has grown into a dangerous killer and living up to his nickname. In this book, we read as after Liesel's mother dies, the pair have one last thing to do - kill Langston's father. Read as Huntress and Killer manage to achieve their goal, forever basking in the dark secrets they have kept for one another. Will this interaction bring them closer together and reignite what they had experienced as children or will it push them further apart as Liesel realizes Langston is the jerk he has always been and hasn't changed one bit? Find out in this prologue "Lies We Share" by Ella Miles. This book gives readers the backstory for Vicious Lies also by Ella Miles.
**I received a review copy of this book in exchange for an honest voluntary review. All opinions are my own and not influenced by my source.**
Langston's story has been building since we met him in Taken by Lies so I have been eagerly awaiting the release of his own series.
I have no idea how things will go and that's what I love the most about this quick introduction. Their history is so deep--much deeper than I anticipate or knew--and getting the reader exposed to that past helped to set the stage for what is to come in this new series.
Fast moving and intense prologue!! I had no idea what to expect when I started this book but it definitely left me needing to read the next book. This was my first book that I have read by Ella Miles and from what I have gathered, is that we were introduced to these Characters in the Truth and Lies series. It was an interesting prologue and it most definitely left me wanting more. I personally felt there was something missing... and the connection between the characters (in my opinion) was lacking a little BUT I do understand this is the prologue and is a quick backstory to our two main characters. I have high hopes for this series :)
This is a well written , fast paces story with strong characters in Langston and Liesel. It's a great start to a new series with the author bringing secrets, abuse and intrigue. She starts with their early years and takes them forward to their teen years. It's an intriguing read which does end in a cliffhanger. I'm looking forward to the next book.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
The lies are deep seeded between Liesel and Langston but when the chips are down, they repeatedly prove to be there for one another. A mystery is left open-ended in this prologue. I look forward to seeing where things go next.
Oh wow! If this book is a prologue to Vicious Lies, then I can’t wait to read Vicious Lies! This book was great! It was so intense! I really need more of Langston and Liesel.
Fans Of The Truth Or Lies And The Sinful Truths Series Will Be Thrilled To Finally Read Langston And Liesel’s Story!
This is the prologue to the Lies series, the long-awaited story of Langston and Liesel. The series also includes: Vicious Lies, Desperate Lies, Fated Lies, Cruel Lies, Dangerous Lies, and Endless Lies.
The Lies series is a spin-off of the Truth or Lies series and the Sinful Truths series. Enzo, Zeke, and Langston have been friends since youth. They began training to work for the notorious Mr. Black while other kids were more concerned about making the football team or attending a dance. Killers all, their friendship has helped them weather the dangers that they face.
In the Truth or Lies series, Enzo Black has to be cruel to be kind to Katherine Miller. Despite it all, Katherine begins to fall for him only to discover that it was all lies. Their tumultuous relationship has you at the edge of your seat.
In the Sinful Truths series, Zeke Kane is rescued from certain death in the Caribbean by a siren. But when they cross paths again, he discovers that the mysterious Aria Torres, a.k.a. Siren, has a few tricks up her sleeve. He meets his match in Siren, who had lured him into a trap. He struggles to keep his family – Enzo and Kai – safe, and he hopes to save Siren, too, in this angsty and cruel game.
In the Truth or Lies and the Sinful Truths series, it had become increasingly clear that there is tension between Langston and Liesel. They are like water and oil, but there is sexual tension as well at times. No explanation has been given, but it all points to something from the past. This prologue to the Lies series tells the early part of their story.
Each book in these series reads like a roller coaster, with unexpected gut-clenching twists and turns. The characters live in a brutal world. Every time the couples cross paths or begin to drop their defenses, something seems to pull them apart. There are many questions and many lies, but answers do come with patience. The books in each series are best read back to back since the plot is very complex.
In Lies We Share:
Langston Pearce, five, has a troubled childhood. He has learned how minimize the abuse he receives, but the empty cupboards do nothing to satisfy the hunger that eats at him. The dirty little girl across the street captures his attention, however, and helping her hunt for a spider leads to a friendship that helps them both through their difficult lives. They become best friends, and they lean on one another for everything. She is the huntress, he the killer. And whenever things get tough, they get through it together.
Liesel in unafraid, and she doesn’t play the damsel in distress. Her father left her and her mother when she was three, and they live in a rough neighborhood where children typically see, hear, and experience things at far too young an age for their tender minds. She and the boy from across the street become fast friends, and she suggests a pact. She will hunt for him, and he will kill for her. Even in their youth, they both instinctively understand that one day their hunting and killing will involve human life. They agree to this unbreakable vow. And should either break it, the other gets to take or demand anything.
At his young age, Langston feels a protective instinct for Liesel. He imagines their futures linked. But events that occur a few years later blow up all he believed in, and their lives go separate ways. When circumstances bring Langston back in to Liesel’s life, she doesn’t consider herself lucky. She doesn’t want anything to do with the boy that once meant everything to her. But their lives are intrinsically linked, for better or worse. He doesn’t seem happy to see her either, and a truce of sorts is reached. But when difficult times arise, their instincts overcome the hatred that typically colors their feelings for one another. This book ends in cliffhanger.
The earliest days of Langston and Liesel’s love/hate relationship are explained in this prologue that will have fans eager to get their hands on the first full book of the series. Deep bonds and painful events begin to explain their underlying chemistry as well as the animosity that clouds their feelings for one another. Their story is well-written and plot-driven. The characters are carefully crafted. The story is written in first person. The POV alternates between Langston and Liesel. I rate this book 4.5 stars.
I received an advance copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
MAYBE THE MOST INTRIGUING SERIES YET, WITH ONE EXCEPTION **3.75 stars**
“You’ll call me huntress, and I’ll call you killer.”
And so it begins … Lies are again at the heart of this ongoing and turbulent series appropriately titled the Lies Series. LIES WE SHARE is the prequel showing how it all began for dangerous femme fatale Liesl and playboy killer Langston – the last of three couples which follows the interconnected Sinful Truth Series and Truth and Lies Series. I have been on the wild ride of these books since the beginning, and swept away, intrigued, repulsed, and desperate for HEAs in every step of their darkly tragic and emotionally gritty journeys. This couple is no different than Enzo and Kai and Zeke and Siren who came before them. All I can say is hang onto to your britches because this one starts out with a bang in childhood and promises to be as much of a rollercoaster as the others.
The story of frenemy lovers Liesl and Langston gets off to such a crazy start in childhood. A couple of dirt poor kids who find sole friendship in each other and solace from their tortured, heartbreaking lives. Even as tykes, they recognize the fated roles they will eventually fill one day. And to think that it all starts with the hunt and “murder” of a spider and the pact of a lifetime. It was adorable and horribly sad at the same time.
This author has a real way with words that always ensnares me and makes me just as invested in how this couple evolves as I was in the others. But as intriguing as it is, there are things I just couldn’t swallow as believable. Their actions and behavior when they are only 15 years old was totally ridiculous, no matter how pivotal it is to their relationship and the direction of their lives. Without giving away what happens, I don’t care where they came from or how fast they were forced to grow up in a harsh world, their actions would only be credible if they were older – college age at least, not fresh high schoolers. They were too sexy, too worldly, too adult, and too experienced at things I didn’t believe they could pull off. Ironically, I totally believed the act that Langston committed, but not their ages. And it got worse when they were 18. Too young to act so old and make me believe it.
This reaction takes nothing away from my intense interest in the rest of their series which will find them in adulthood and make total sense. Everything about this prequel was great – heartwarming youth, mistaken betrayal, and darkly fated at the same time. I just can’t overlook the age issue.
And Now It Begins ... just what games are Langston and Liesel playing?
Langston’s first ki11 with Liesel was a spider. At five years old they learned that she can hunt and he can ki11. A vow was made, a pact was formed. Whoever breaks it, owes a favor. It was a pinky promise …. unbreakable. Just what was that vow…. and which one breaks it? Which one calls in the favor? Who really benefits?
This is the background to how Langston and Liesel’s lives became intertwined. They had rough, painful and sad childhoods. But the unthinkable happens and they turn on each other…. but don’t forget about that vow, that pinky promise … it will be cashed in one day.
This is the start of Langston and Liesel. If the rest of the series is as compelling as this prologue, then it will be well worth the read. Can’t wait.
👁 OBSERVATIONS:
… Calling in that vow actually served it purpose for both Langston and Liesel. Dear ol’ daddy was way to arrogant to realize he would one day account for his sins.
… Cynthia was far from innocent when it came to Langston’s mom’s demise. She had to know. She, as well as the dad, needed to suffer the consequences. She needs a BIG comeuppance. Monstermom needs to meet and face a real monster.
… I did keep wondering how on earth a penniless drunk like Langton’s dad could even meet a rich, entitled woman like Cynthia? Her place in society meant the world to her, so why would she take a second look at that poor, slob of a father?
… Does Langston ever find out what happened that day he woke up and Liesel was gone?
… At the end of the Truth or Lies series, we are left questioning Langston. Was he really a betrayer? I’m counting on this new series to fill in a lot of those questionable gaps concerning Langston’s role. I have a hard time picturing him turning against Kai, Enzo and Jake. And how does Liesel fit into all this? Just what game are they playing? Anxious for answers.
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of "LIES WE SHARE" This is the spin-off from "Truth or Lies" & "Sinful Truths" which I've read both they were excellent series you should have for sure I've been waiting for Langston & Liesel's story this was great getting their background. Langston & Liesel meet at 5yrs old he kills a spider for her they give each other nicknames she's the huntress and he's the killer they form a pact for lifetime he comes from an abusive home a monster for a father and she comes from a single mom. Langston's father kills his mother and he's remarry in a rich woman and moving away he never saw Liesel after that until he was 15yr old her mom was hired by Enzo Black as a maid they lived in the guesthouse gating each other. Langston & Zeke work with Enzo and Liesel is always around things have changed over the years between them after promising to be friends forever but when he calls in the pact they work yogether to take out his father her the huntress him the killer. Liesel's mom dies of an overdose all alone at the grave Lansing show up with a single rose like she did for his mom he wants to talk but she has to go to her old house first they'd meet later when she arrives at the house she surprised when her father answers the door she hadn't see him since she was 3. I definitely recommend to get this excellent well written start to this new series with a shocking ending for Liesel and Langston after the criptic message her father gives her along with an envelope that has a letter to explain everything then she must burn it. I Soooo can't wait for book one to this series "VICIOUS LIES" looking forward to Liesel and Langston's journey.
Langston and Liesel - will they make it through the lies?
Langston and Liesel met when they were children and they made a pinky promise to look out for each other always. She spent the night with him after his mother had died and he had to move. But she left early in the morning before he woke and took his clothes, but did not tell him why or say goodbye. So when he left, he was mad at her and thought she was going to replace his friendship with the other boy she had talked about. She was eight and he was five.
He keeps his promise to keep her safe by giving money to his friend to give to her. However, he keeps this secret to himself. And when he asks for her to keep her part of the pact, she is there for him.
Moreover, when her mother dies he is there for her. After the funeral he goes to see her, but her father is already there. He gives her some papers and tells her to lie, it will be the only thing that will keep her alive. Langston sees her and asks her if it is true? But she doesn't know what he is taking about. Just when she is getting into her car he ripped the paperwork in her hands in half but doesn't realize it until later. Will they ever get to read the whole thing together and find out the truth is? Or will the lies they keep from each other tear them apart?
I know that they have feelings for each other and I can't wait to see if they will admit it out loud. This is only the beginning of a twisted mystery of two innocent children coming out of the worst of circumstances. This book leaves you hungry for what's going to happen next. Five stars. This is an ARC and I am glad to give my honest review.
Huntress and Killer make a pinky promise..........and so it begins
All I can say is WOWSAAAA!!!! about Lies We Share. This is a the Prologue to the spin-off from the Truth or Lies and Sinful Truths series. It is the story of Liesel and Langston. All three of the series are intertwined by the friendships, pacts and actions of the three boys and Liesel who form a pack that takes them from youth into adulthood. Liesel and Langston grew up living across from each other on the very wrong side of town. Both are poorer than poor, he has a physically abusive father and she has a father that left when she was three years old. At five years old they make a promise/pact that will be realized when they are fifteen. But their friendship/relationship takes many different turns along the years based on events that are both out of and within their control.
This first taste of Liesel and Langston's story was mesmerizing and really drew me in. It made my heart break in several different ways and sets the rest of the series about these two characters up in a most interesting way. Let's just say that these are not people you would want as enemies as they have a very different code they live by. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series, Vicious Lies, when it is available.
What an amazing start to Liesel and Langston's story I was completely blown away and on the edge of my seat and had to keep turning the page's to see what would happen next. Langston and Liesel grew up across the street from each other in a bad part of town and both had a extremely hard life but they were best friends regardless until something happened that changed everything for them. Now years later and Liesel's mum works for Enzo's dad and Langston works with Enzo but things are definitely not the same for Liesel and Langston even after promising each other that they would be friends forever when they were younger. Omg this book broke me apart because of the type of life they both had and you could feel all the pain that they were going through and I can't wait to read the next book in this series. Ella Miles is an amazing author and writer and I definitely recommend you read this book and other's by her and you will definitely not be disappointed.
If you’ve read the other books by this author, this is in the same vein — dark and twisty with characters that deal with more than most people should while they are still children. This is Langston and Liesel’s story. We’ve met both characters before and there has always been an underlying tension leading the reader to believe their is more to their story than we know. This is their backstory — how they meet as children, the friendship they developed and the vow they made. We are left with a cliff hanger but this sets the scene for a new storyline. This is a good place to jump into the series as this is a spin off. I warn you though that you’ll have to go back and read the other stories if you start here. The characters are dark and damaged and believable. The story is twisted and full of surprises that help explain the character’s attitudes and actions. This is a fast read and sets the scene for the series.
Lifetime of Lies - the revelation is just the beginning
Lies We Share: A Prologue by Ella Miles is a well written peek into the Langston and Liesel saga. Their bittersweet beginning and hate-filled beginning of the end is utterly intriguing leaving no doubt there is a great deal of trauma, drama, danger, anger, longing, defeat, elation, ultimate highs and lows to come. The Huntress and The Killer will no doubt be tested beyond endurance ensuring breath stealing, heart pounding and pulse ratcheting suspense, anticipation and tension. Overall, a teasing short read inciting a 'must have more' feeling for these characters. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily sharing my review.
I was so glad that Langston and Liesel got their own story. After reading about them in the Truth or Lies and the Sinful Truths Series I wondered about their relationship. They met as children both from abusive and neglected households. After he learned he was moving, Langston had a misunderstanding with Liesel and cut all ties to her. He called her the Huntress and she called him Killer (because he killed a spider for her!) When they found each other in high school, he was indeed a killer. I can’t wait until the next book about them, Vicious Lies. If you haven’t read the previous series I mentioned, you definitely need to add them to your TBR.

Lies We Share is the prequel for the new Lies Series by Ella Miles and features the early years of Langston and Liesel from the time they first meet until their late teen years. When they are five years old, they form a pact between them and act upon it the first time at age fifteen. A secret is revealed a few years later which may change their lives. Ella Miles has written another fantastic beginning to a new series which has well developed characters and an intriguing storyline. I am eager to read the next installment in this series entitled Vicious Lies which continues the saga of Langston and Liesel.

What a way to start off a new series with a bang! Langston and Leisel share so much in their lives, a chance meeting when they were five and became the best of friends forever, they made a pact and gave each other nicknames Leisel the huntress and Langston the killer. They would be there for each other no matter what, until Langston left, never to be heard from again until fate stepped in and brought them together again. Older now they still held a grudge against each other for past mistakes and misunderstandings, but little did Leisel know that Langston would be calling in his favor so soon. Wow, just wow! Loved it and can’t wait for Vicious Lies. I received a copy of this book.
WOW! WHAT AN EXPLOSIVE START. The huntress and killer always stay together, but Liesel and Langston don't. The two that connected because of pain and misery in their childhood, have now separated due to misunderstandings and stubbornness. The childhood pact has been drawn on and there's nothing left to make them stay together. The prologue itself is very interesting and gives us an insight to the minds of Liesel & Langston.
Desperately waiting for Vicious Lies! The Lies Series is gonna be blast!!!
Lies we share. This prologue is intense! I was captivated by the story. This beginning to the story is unforgettable. I enjoyed knowing how things started for Langston and Liesel. The suffering they went through as children helps me understand their relationships as adults. I am dying to read the rest of the book! Ella you left me with my mouth open wide and gasping for air. A must read series!!!!!!!! You must read the other two series to understand the truth. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. *** I voluntarily read a Review Copy of this book. All opinions stated are solely my own and no one else’s. ***
Lies bring so much pain. You hunt I kill that is some pack these children made. This book is so sad and so wrong how these children lived. It is all downhill for both the huntress and killer now. A simple lie has caused the two friends so many problems. This book is about lies it is very powerful and I am looking forward to reading Vicious Lies next. I got this book back in August and this is the first chance I have had to read it. It is good and if the next book is the same Ella Miles fans are in for a real treat. Pick this one up and then get ready I think the readers are in for one h--- ride.
OMG, I'm giddy over here! I've read Enzo and Kai's story and fell in love with the Black Family and all the characters within that circle. Then came Zeke and Siren's story and that just cemented the investment of feelings I had in Ella Miles' work. Now, with 'Lies We Share', she's given us Langston and Liesel's story and what a beginning this turned out to be. I could literally visualize those two five-year-old kids and their world in my mind. I could hear their conversation. Feel their heartfelt bond towards each other. Ella Miles has the innate ability to transport this reader into whatever world she has created and makes me feel a part of it. I whole-heartedly recommend this book.
Langston and Liesel are just kids when they meet. Langston is from an abusive home and Liesel from a single mother poverty home. They meet by chance and become bets friends. Fast forward to a few years and they are no longer friends. A secret from Liesel’s past now ties the teenagers together.
An interesting start. Background information is learned about these 2 characters. Enough to have you wondering what does the future hold for these two. Left me feeling sorry for how they grew up and the turn of events.

This is the story of how Langston and Liesel met at five. They were neighbors in a run-down neighborhood. They were always hungry and Langston was always beat by his father. They had nicknames for one another that would prove true later in life. The story takes us through until they are 18. The horror they suffered will shape the people they become. Langston, Liesel, Enzo, and Zeke form the beginnings of the group they call family. They are closer than blood family and no one will separate them. Now, Langston and Liesel each hold half of a huge lie that could cost them everything~ What will happen? This ends in a cliffhanger…I received this as an ARC and am leaving a voluntary review.
This Prologue was enough to have me purchase the first book in the series and add Ella Miles to one of my new favorite writers. Langston (Killer) and Liesel (Hunter/Huntress) live across the street from each other in a drug, poverty and crime infested neighborhood. Maybe it's due to the shared circumstances of their meager existence but the two develop what seems like a lifelong friendship they hope will span a lifetime. Little do they know that while their current life is hard, what is to come will test them both. This book will immediately addict you to where you crave the next installment of their lives.
Lies We Share by Ella Miles it's a brief introduction (or a prologue) to Langston (Killer) and Liesel's (Huntress) story, showing how they met and connected! Their life was not easy since the beginning, they found themselves in pretty much the same circumsrances until an act meant to be good turned out not being understood and their bound shook in its basis. The mystery it's definitively there, so I'm curiously wainting for the tale to unfold! A very enticing start!!!
