It's been a long wait - but oh was it worthwhile to finally get to read the end of this amazing trilogy.

This is the third book in the Earthlings series and I absolutely loved books 1 & 2 - Earthlings and Dominion - which I read a couple of years ago.

Having been such a long wait (and having read so many books in-between) it did take me another little while to get into this again and to reimmerse myself into this world.

I think if I'd had time, I'd have much preferred to grab the previous books for a re-read and then binge the whole trilogy in order - but I just couldn't fit it in.

I'd definitely recommend reading this as a whole series and in order though, as the character and world development continues throughout and there's definitely spoilers through the later books.

Once I'd had a good chunk of time to re-invest - this all came flooding back and I immediately fell back into the world with the resistance.

There's not much else I can really tell you about the book because I hate giving spoilers, but this was again, packed with adventure and danger and finishes off the trilogy perfectly by tying everything up for us nicely - including a much appreciated epilogue too.

This has been an emotional journey from start to finish and I'd suggest you go into this book prepared for some shocks.

I grabbed the tissues more than once!

This is such a beautifully written series and I've loved every second - it's very sad to see the characters leave - but I'm excited to see what might be next for this author!

Peridot (Peri), Euan and the Resistance have survived the battle, but the war isn’t over.

The second book in the Earthlings series ended on a big cliffhanger and left the fates of the characters hanging in the balance so I was intrigued to see what happened to them next.

The storyline was fast paced and told from the perspectives of multiple characters, some old and some new. It took me a little while to get use to the multiple narratives but once the story progressed it became easier and I was able to easily identify the character that was narrating the story at the start of each chapter.

The events of this book pick up straight after the last book. The battle is over and the characters are trying to rebuild a new life while coming to terms with everything that has happened. But there is still some sense of uncertainty about the future. All Peri wants is to create a world where everyone (humans, animals, those who possess magic) can live together harmoniously. But can that dream become a reality when danger isn’t far away in the form of the Descendants who are likely to retaliate against the Resistance. To protect everyone Peri has to seek the help of an unlikely ally in Vallaeartha. What I liked about this story is it explored Peri’s relationship with her parents and what happened in the past, answering many of my questions.

Peri is a character that has grown immensely throughout the series. She is not only powerful but also a leader who others look to as a sign of hope. But being a leader does take its toll on Peri. I loved seeing the relationship between Peri and Euan grow. Euan has always been by Peri’s side and in some ways helps to ground her when things get tough.

One of my favourite scenes in the book is when the whole camp comes together to share a song and food. It’s exactly what everyone needed to lift their spirits.

There was a big plot twist towards the end of the story and the introduction of a new character which took the story and everything I thought I knew as a reader in a completely different direction. The ending took me by surprise and wasn’t what I was expecting but it was the perfect ending to an amazing series.

Just because I cannot choose my favourite – have both quotes:

• "Save the animals, save the world."
• "Just because animals can speak, doesn't mean they can't communicate."

This highly anticipated finale picks up three days after the dramatic events of Dominion (book two), following the failed attempt at liberation and the fall of The Regime. Right from the start, the book delivers a strong sense of continuity, with Peridot recapping the last battle—an excellent way to reimmerse readers in the story and remind them of what’s at stake.

I will state that a helpful addition would be a glossary, or a brief information section at the beginning of the book, to reintroduce key character and groups, such as the Magickborn, the Resistance, Familiars and the Descendants, which would make it easier for readers to navigate the intricate worldbuilding, and vast character list.

Once again, the story is told through multiple point of views, which allows deeper insights into various characters. It’s especially rewarding to hear from particular favourites, such as Euan and Peridot, though at times, the sheer number of characters can be overwhelming. Standout characters for me include Joe, Lucky, Terran, Peridot, and Euan, each contributing unique perspectives to the unfolding rebellion.

Seph and Hades provide some light-hearted moments, their banter resembling that of an old married couple—an unexpected but delightful dynamic. Meanwhile, Peridot carries much of the emotional weight, making her journey and plight all the more compelling and engrossing. The strong friendship trio/bromance between Evan, Terran, and Dave is another highlight, adding warmth to the story, with unexpected happiness in the face of their possible downfall.

A fantastic twist is the Greek mythology influence this book has, seamlessly woven into the narrative. Seeing how Euan is connected with Hades, Peridot with Persephone and Terran with Cronos adds an intriguing mythological depth. The time rewind element was a surprising and brilliant twist, as was the unexpected development of the Terran and Dave’s relationship, what a lovely moment of light!
The author masterfully tackles important themes such as animal abuse, animal rights, and animal exploitation, seamlessly blending them into the fabric of the story. The worldbuilding remains top-tier, and the character development is deeply heartfelt, making the emotional moments hit even harder.

The epilogue is absolutely adorable—an incredibly satisfying and wishful happily ever after. However, the book doesn’t shy away from emotional devastation; the death of any loved character is always difficult, but the author managed to balance the heartbreak with the characters love really well.

Overall, this finale is a powerful and moving conclusion to a fantastic series, delivering intense action, emotional depth, and thought-provoking themes. The author has crafted a story and series that will stay with readers long after the final page, and is one that I will always highly recommend and be privileged to have read and thought about long after completing it

"Using our powers for something good instead of destruction is hard not to get excited about."
When you are getting ready to read third book that you were waiting for a long time, and when you remember that you had all kinds of emotions while reading the first two books in the trilogy, you think you are ready for whatever is going to happen and then you end up in a puddle of tears, several times! I thought I was ready to see this world again, all the animals and humans and elemental entities that I've loved, but I wasn't ready for some of the deaths, I was crying, at work, at home, crying so much, and I was grateful that I was alone all of those times that I cried over my beloved character deaths, because I was a mess. I'm not naming them, because spoilers, but have some napkins around, just in case.
"No Earthling deserves that fate."
I've always loved elemental magic in books, but this trilogy has it on another level, their magic comes from ancient beings and you don't always know which entity is inside them powering them, but when you do get to know, oh it's so beautiful and horrible and amazing to have them portrayed that way.
"I want to save lives, not end them!"
Not everyone shared this same sentiment, but most of them were eyeing each with hunger and only some of them were trying to achieve peace and stop the killings and farming of humans.
I expected different kind of ending, and even though it ended beautifully and we got to know more about how it all started and why it had to end that way, I still felt like I wasn't ready to leave this world so quickly, I've gotten too attached to the world of talking animals, to the magic they share with their familiar humans, and to the kindness most of them showed eachother, despite being treated horribly during their lives. This magical world will forever stay in my heart, I will someday revisit these books, whenever I need a reminder that love and kindness will always win, no matter how dark the times might get.

This was an intense finale. The stakes have been building up throughout the series with twisted reveals, shocking revelations and dangerous truths. This brings all the characters back for one last push to save everyone and find a compromise for peace.
Not only are they fighting a resistance against the enemy animals, but from their own Elemental magick, mythological descendants and their ancient rivalries that brings chaos and drama to an already tense situation.
This story sees the warping of reality to help undo mistakes in time, drawing on the God's powers, and welcoming new bonds. It also explores the secrets Val has been keeping from Peridot all this time, and sees a desperate attempt to alter fate.

This trilogy has definitely evokes a lot of emotions, and makes you contemplate human greed, animals lives, and finding compromises to live.
It's also a journey of friendships, found family, love, vengeance and compassion.
This was a fantastic conclusion and answers all the questions that have been building.

I'm honestly so bummed this series is over now. Books one and two totally hit all the right spots and I was so excited to get my hands on the next instalment.

This last book jumps right in where that crazy ending of book two left us. Everything's flipped on the mainland now. The Resistance is trying to make a safe spot for people running from trouble, but there's new threats coming from across the water, and nobody knows if they're friends or enemies.

With everyone freaking out about the Descendants coming for payback, Peridot, Euan and their crew have no choice but to ask Vallaeartha for help, even though she's fighting her own battle with the darkness inside her.

This finale to the Earthlings trilogy really puts friendships and loyalties through the wringer as Peridot and Euan figure out how far they'll go in the fight for everyone's freedom.

Not gonna lie though - this one didn't hit me as hard as I was hoping for a series finale. If you haven't started yet, I'd seriously wait until you can binge all three books together. There were only a few months between me reading books two and three, but it felt like forever. I forgot a bunch of details which made parts of this book pretty confusing. There were also some slower sections that kind of dragged the story down. Still, it was a decent read with enough exciting moments to keep me turning pages.

Gotta give a shout-out to that epilogue though - it wrapped everything up really nicely and gave us that happily-ever-after we all wanted.

Land of Hope and Glory is the final part in the Earthlings series and having read part one ( Earthlings ) and part two ( Dominion ), I was really looking forward to this read, and let me tell you, it definitely lived up to my expectations and certainly did not disappoint.

So this time, the Resistance are trying to build a sanctuary for refugees on the mainland, while darkness is rising overseas and so Peridot, Euan and their friends must search out the help of an unknown quantity, Vallaeartha.

Will Peridot and Euan succeed in their fight for freedom? Be sure to pick your copy up to find out.

So all in all, another great read.

It's an immersive, fantastical world with truly memorable characters, heart stopping action, and a brilliant storyline that I'm sure will keep you up late turning the pages long after you should have gone to sleep.

A magnificent finale to the series.

I’ve been waiting for this final instalment of the Earthlings trilogy for some time, and was a little disappointed with it to be honest. It was still good and finished off the story well, but at times just fell a little flat. Maybe it has been too long since I read the second and this is why. I hope the finished version of the book has a recap at the start for this very reason.

There are lots of twists in this one, there’s also lots going on - sometimes too much that it’s difficult to keep track. I remembered most of the characters once I got into it, and it was nice to meet these old favourites again. I enjoyed meeting some of the new characters and their back stories, not so much the Elementals….

Overall, a good ending to the trilogy wrapping everything up nicely (kind of) but at times felt that some bits dragged and wasn’t doing it for me :(

⭐️⭐️⭐️💫/5 (3.5/5 rounded to 4 for Goodreads and Amazon)

OK so this book series is just SOOOO good! Like all the stars good, and if you love fantasy / dystopia then I HIGHLY recommend this series.

Like if you read ONE series this year from a new to you author I recommend it's this one!

It's BRILLIANT! Like so unexpectedly original good.

Firstly I know lots of you loved the cover when I shared the bookmail thr other day of Land of Hope and Glory, so here's the whole set together. And aren't they gorgeous!

This series is set in a dystopian alternative world with magic, elementals and oh did I mention that animals are in charge led by an evil chicken named Alan?

No? Well, it is, and there are LOTS of very different and thought-provoking twists because of this (trying not to give spoilers)

LOHAG is book three in the Earthlings series, and OMG, what an ending.

Like, I'm still slightly broken 😭

I absolutely ADORED Peridot, Ewan, Joe, and all the familiars and animal characters in this, well the ones on the good side.

This book is told from multiple POV, like the camiliars POV too, with cute little images and title names.

I honestly don't think there was ANYTHING I disliked about this series.

Totally original (maybe some Animal Farm vibes but on a HUGE scale with mega twists, magic and its a whole lot better!!)

Brilliant characters. I DARE you not to fall in love with the familiars and MCs in this.

I can't rave enough about this series.

I read an ARC of this as part of the Love Book Tours review tour. All thoughts are my own.

Earthlings Book 3.
The cover is gorgeous. I absolutely love this series. I love reading about Freyja, Peridot, Euan, Terran, and Dave. I loved Phoenix. This made a nice change. It was different. I loved everything about this book. I couldn't put it down. It's such a shame that this is the final book in this series. I could read more of this series with the animals. I loved the ending. Perfect. I would most definitely recommend this book.

This is the last book in the Earthlings trilogy, I would definitely recommend reading the previous books before this one as it picks straight up from where the second left off.

The book is packed to the brim with action, speaking animals and magic. But who's going to win, and who can get the most animals on thier side for the battle of all battles.

If speaking animals weren't enough to contend with there's also the powers of feuding ancestors that live inside same bodies as Peridot and her friends…

The trilogy of Peridot and Euans adventures has come to an end, and what an ending. We met lots and lots of new characters in this book, but didn't lose the heart of the coven, thankfully.
I don't want to give away any spoilers, but the revelations in the last few chapters were both heartbreaking and a relief. I shed more than a few tears, that's for sure.
The only thing I wish I'd seen was a chapter from Alan's POV towards the end, I'd have loved to have heard his thoughts as it all happened. We definitely loved to hate Alan!
I do love an epilogue that jumps forward a little to show us a further glimpse of what happens to everyone, so this made me very happy.
I did find it a little tough to get into at the start, I think it had just been so long since I'd read the previous two, so I'd recommend re-immersing yourself in the world before reading this if you can. Once I hit halfway, though, I couldn't put the book down and read the second half in one go.
Some of the subject matter can be rough reading at times, but there is a real moral tale to this story that I think is a very important one.
I've really enjoyed this series and look forward to seeing what else comes from this author.

Took me a bit to get back into it as I’d forgotten sone of what happened in book 2… but then it was an easy read.

The only bit I felt didn’t contribute to the story was Lilith, not sure why that entity was needed.

Loved the ending, I wish slaughter really would end! Go vegan!

*PLEASE NOTE: This review has spoilers for the previous books, Earthlings and Dominion.

Oh wow, what an amazing and exciting finale to the brilliant Earthlings trilogy. After rescuing many of the people and animals from the Descendants’ headquarters Peridot is feeling terrible about what happened and those that were left behind. Juggling having Hades inside her too, along with the new disappearance of her father, it isn’t long before her emotions become too much for her. With the resistance base fuller than it’s ever been, the humans and animals at the base have to find a way to get along with each other and cope through the upcoming colder months. But while Peridot is getting used to Hades, others in the base have their elementals awakening and soon a new and dark plan emerges from the headquarters of the Descendants, a plan so dark its leader hopes to end the war once and for all.

I have loved every book in this wonderful trilogy so far and this one is just as good if not better. The story begins just days after the events in the last book, Dominion. Peridot, Euan and the others are coming to terms with all that happened and all that was revealed while Peridot herself struggles to heal everyone who was hurt during the battle at the Descendents’ headquarters, with her powers. Unlike with book two which picked up right after book one where I got a little confused over some characters and what had happened as it wasnt well recapped, this book has a little sort of explanation of the previous book’s events through the different characters’ narration and as a result I could instantly get back into the story easily and enjoy what was happening.

While at first Peridot is struggling to deal with the guilt of everything that has happened with her mum and also struggling with her feelings and knowledge about he rdad, Euan is struggling to voice his feelings for her while others like Terran are coping with new aspects of magic as well as developing relationships with others in the camp. I like what happens with Peridot and her new ancient one Hades and the funny banter that happens between Peridot, Hades and Persephone. The story around these beings that are inside the magickborn becomes more interesting when Terran eventually meets his own, although I won’t say more on that as there is an interesting twist with that character later in the story.

While all the animals and humans at the resistance base are getting ready for the oncoming winter and a battle that looms ahead, the story switches to show us the Descendants, led by Alan, who still has a dark plan to end the resistance once and for all. I do like how this book switches to the different viewpoints of various characters, with each chapter header showing who is narrating by showing a unique image at the top that represents that character. There are some new characters introduced like Obsidian and Onyx, and I like how we hear from Bertha’s point of view as well as some of the other new animals too. Despite how many characters are introduced, I was never confused and enjoyed how the stories all intertwined and how we can see certain events playing out through the eyes of different characters a little differently.

There are some amazing twists and surprises in this book. I love what happens on the resistance base between Euan and Terran, and I especially like what happens with Terran later in the story when we discover something about the entity that awakens inside him. And I love what happens with Obsidian and Onyx, and what happens when they meet certain characters and what we learn about them later on too. There are so many exciting moments as the story builds up to a dramatic finale, and I love the twist that occurs before the last battle. Despiete so many amazing and exciting moments though, there are also some wonderful, slower and more fun moments too. I especially like the little humour around the ‘feat’ that’s happens later on. There are also some lovely moments surrounding the relationship building between Euan and Peridot as well as two other characters.

The ending is so good and yet so emotional too. I remember reading a post from the author saying sorry for the ending finishign the way it does, but to me although it’s an ending with mixed emotions, it’s also the perfect ending to the entire Earthlings trilogy. The beautiful relationships and connections both humans and animals have in the story is so special and I love how things resolve at the end between all the different characters (even how things end with Alan’s character) and the final epilogue was just perfect, wrapping up Peridot’s story in the perfect way!

The book has a couple uses of the s swear word and mentions of deaths, some more brutal than others. The book and series in general also touches on the cruelty and brutality of the meat industry in today’s world and the wider way animals and the environment on the whole is treated often by humanity today. While there are a lot of sad moments and some deaths occur in this book, they are done in a touching way and I actually like the way one animal character’s death is shown in the middle of the story. And overall the message about the way we treat the environment is a good and important one and I’m glad the author took the time to address such issues within the whole Earthlings trilogy in such a powerful and vivid way. I do want to mention that the book is printed on recycled paper and the author is planting a tree for every book bought. There’s also mention at the end about the fact there will be a prequel which has me extra excited as I’m not quite ready to part with these characters yet! 🙂

Overall I would recommend this book and the whole trilogy to everyone who is interested in an exciting, page-turning story with a brilliant environmental message, a good dose of magical fantasy and a brilliant story featuring lots of animals too. It’s a fantastic mix of fantasy and climate fiction with an important environmental message at its heat about the way we treat animals and our wider planet today. It’s a fantastic trilogy and one that is going up on my favourites shelf, and one I will definitely read again!

This is the final instalment of the Earthlings Trilogy and I am very sad that it is over but I devoured it just the same. What an ending to an amazing trilogy! So the story continues where we left off at the end of book 2, with the resistance continuing to battle against the descendants in order to save those in captivity and move to all earthlings living together in peace. But Alan the Chicken has other ideas!

This is another rollercoaster ride with some great plot twists along the way! Ray certainly has a way with words and this book is no exception, and whilst it is heartwarming, it is also heart wrenching and even managed to make me ugly cry! I have absolutely loved these books, what a powerful message wrapped up in a wonderful story, I would highly recommend!

I cannot believe that this is the end to this journey. It had been such an interesting adventure and battle for freedom and friendship.
I adored the first books, and really liked the characters we have gotten to know and love or not so much. I did find that this book was a bit slower to kick off, but I think that is more down to me being used to the pace and flow of the first books, that seemed to start off fast and then. Settled a wee bit. This book did the opposite. It started slower and then picked up, becoming a book you absolutely hated to even consider putting down. It got so exciting toward the end, and I enjoyed the epilogue so much. It was that last wee bit to today up the finale that I really needed.
As a whole, this series was wonderful and such a delight to take an adventure with. There was a lot that could be taken away and learned from the actions of these characters and their choices made, which I always like. Plus, it was just really good!
