A Martha’s Vineyard fisherman’s widow gets a second chance at love over a snow-capped Thanksgiving weekend.
Charlotte Montgomery Hamner wakes up every morning to the same thoughts.
Jason died. Jason isn’t coming back. Rachel and I must go through this alone.
Since Jason drowned over a year and a half ago, Charlotte has struggled moving forward. The owner of a popular wedding-planning and events business, she throws some of the most expensive and intricately coordinated weddings, occasionally featuring celebrities, and always with her fourteen-year-old daughter’s help. But her devastation is so complete that sometimes she struggles to get out of bed in the morning.
As Thanksgiving approaches, a celebrity asks Charlotte to plan a gorgeous, multi-million-dollar wedding on Martha’s Vineyard—the kind of event that would put her on the next tier of wedding planning and get her featured in some of the top wedding magazines around the country. With much of her normal staff off the island for the winter, Charlotte must ask her cousins, the Sheridan sisters, as well as her sister, Claire, for help to throw this unforgettable wedding.
And somewhere between Thursday’s Thanksgiving dinner and the cake-cutting Saturday night, she just might find a love to call her own.
Katie writes women's fiction and clean, wholesome contemporary romance. She looks to everyday, real-life family issues to weave stories of heartfelt emotions, love and loss, and everything in between.
Come transport yourself to Martha's Vineyard: an island of vivid blue ocean, white sand, and a lively community of locals, who celebrate everything from the bright New England summers to the cold, yet cozy, snowcapped winters.
A Vineyard Thanksgiving by Katie Winters is a 2020 publication.
This is the fourth book in the Vineyard Sunset series, but despite having missed the first three installments, I was given enough 'catch-up' information to keep me in the loop.
This installment is centered around Charlotte, a widow, who is a wedding planner living in Martha’s Vineyard. It’s the off season for weddings, but Thanksgiving is just around the corner, so maybe Charlotte can get some rest and enjoy the holiday- if only she could get a handle on her grief over the sudden loss of her husband of twenty years.
Things go from super quiet to crazy busy overnight when an Oscar winning actress calls Charlotte out of the blue begging her to plan a Thanksgiving wedding for her. With only three weeks to plan, and a self-absorbed actress turned Bridezilla to deal with, Charlotte hardly has time breath, must less grieve.
Things get even more interesting when a handsome photographer named Everett arrives to cover the celebrity wedding of the year. A small spark blooms between Everett and Charlotte- but Everett likes to roam around and travel, while Charlotte has never even left the island without her husband. Will they act on the chemistry they feel between them or go back to living their lives as before?
Poor Thanksgiving. It is completely overlooked these days, but I love Thanksgiving! It is one of my favorite holidays- but try finding Thanksgiving movies or books and it’s like trying to find a needle in a haystack.
This year, though, I was determined to find at least one book centered around Thanksgiving- and thankfully, my Overdrive library came through for me, as it often does. Not only did I find more books than I anticipated, but I also found a new author to love.
This book is a little busy at times, especially considering the brevity of it. There are lots of characters, and this is sometimes a pet peeve for me- but I managed to learn all the names, plus get a little feel for their back stories, and their relation to Charlotte.
The point of the story isn’t so much the insane wedding planning- or the OTT bride and groom- but the opportunity for Charlotte to feel a glimmer of hope, giving her a green light to begin moving on with her life.
Everett has some family issues he needed to resolve, but also knew that Charlotte could be a game changer for him, too.
The story is short, as I mentioned, so the characters and the storyline don’t get as much time to develop as I would like- but I went looking for a sweet, gentle holiday story, and Katie Winters delivered just that. She has a long list of books that have a holiday or seasonal theme, all of them seem to be around the same length as this one, and would be perfect books for a quick escape or a much need spirit boost. I will definitely check more of them out soon!
I probably would have liked this book better if I had read more of the series before. Then I could have known the characters better. Not that it wasn't a good book and fun for the holiday.

A Vineyard Thanksgiving is book 4 in the Vineyard Sunset series by Katie Winters and what fun to get back to the Sheridan sisters and the rest of their family!
We are back to Martha’s Vineyard at Thanksgiving and celebrating with the family while helping Charlotte, the wedding planner arrange a glamorous wedding for a very famous couple. When Everett, the famous photographer shows up it seems sparks fly between them but Charlotte is afraid...widowed about a year and not ready to let go but maybe fate has put someone in front of her to tell her life must move forward.
What happens next is..sparks, letting go, sadness, joy, disaster, family, friends, wedding or maybe not and so much more...can’t wait for the next book in this series!
Gosh, another that just makes me heart smile. Still love this family. I will say, I was confused at the beginning of this one and had to re-read it a few times until it made sense!

My thoughts: I needed something non-thriller to listen to while I prepared Thanksgiving dinner. So naturally a Thanksgiving book would be sufficient, I found this one on Audible, and even though it was book 4 in a series I figured it wouldn't hurt. I am so glad I discovered this author. I love the story it was very light-hearted and I'm not sure if that is her usual forte kind of like a Pamela Kelly or if she was just being extra sweet because it was a holiday story there clearly has been drama in the past as there were spoilers for previous storylines but they didn't go into a lot of details, But I got the feeling they were either light drama and everyone loves each other or they were for Hildebrand messy. Either way, I loved this family it was like an Elin Hildebrand-Robyn Carr-Pamela Kelley-Karen Kingsbury story roll together and then edited for Hallmark. I loved it and I will be reading the rest of the series in order, hopefully, followed by the rest of Katie Winters' catalog.
Recommend to others: Yes! Chef's kiss, this book was a good mix of family warm and contemporary problems without being too cheesy or dramatic.

4.5 stars. Flew through this one in a couple days! I liked the book a lot although the subplot with Ursula felt a little contrived, or forced maybe. I saw Charlotte's ending a mile away but I'm all for it! I really enjoyed the fact that while the author addressed Charlotte's status as a widow, it wasn't overly dramatized or written from the victim perspective like some books do. It was part of her and Rachel's history but not overdone and Charlotte didn't spend the entire book agonizing over it.
Less nostrils flaring in this book, thankfully. Hoping an editor finally told her how annoying that is.
This series is really a pleasure to read so far. I'm listening to the audiobooks and the narrator so far has been one of my favorites, Erin Bennett. She definitely makes the books even better with just the right amount of expression in her voices but not too much exaggerated excitement or hysteria.
Off to celebrate Christmas in the Vineyard with my new favorite family, the Sheridans and Montgomerys!!
The books about the Sheridan sisters are so good. This one is also crazy mayhem as Charlotte is given a three week notice to plan a wedding for an extremely wealthy Hollywood Star and her famous NBA fiancé. And it’s the weekend after Thanksgiving! What could go wrong, except everything? Great story with wonderful, lovable characters!
This was a fast read and a sweet story. I loved all of the characters and the wedding planning was funny at moments. Charlotte is the main character and her feelings and relationships are believable. Her daughter Rachel is a strong character. I love how the wedding happened and how Charlotte in the end went to LA. Great booj
I got this to book to review from the author and I got to say it was very good. I like to read series about families that continues on and this doesn't disappoint. What can I say, I like to keep up with my people. I hope she has more to write because I like to read them.
The story of Charlotte, was another good read, but not as good as the previous books in the series. It just didn’t flow as the previous books had. Still a good read and I’m thoroughly enjoying the series!
What a delightful book. Back with the Sheridan girls. This story had tons of fun, love, and craziness. Everett and Charlotte were quite the pair. I so enjoyed all the characters. Looking forward to the Christmas book. I received an ARC for an honest review.
Martha's Vineyard wedding planner Charlotte Hamner is still dealing with the loss of her husband of 20 years Jason when she meets sexy celebrity wedding photographer Everett Rainey. I felt Charlotte's pain over letting go of Jason and dealing with a celebrity bridezilla actress who was very needy, kept changing her mind, and was mean. I laughed and shook my head at her childish antics. Charlotte's extended family including her Sheridan cousins from the previous books in this series are wonderful and they band together to help her out. Everett was sweet and funny himself, fitting right in with her loud and crazy family. It was hard for Charlotte to accept that it was ok to move on from her first love and potentially start something with someone who lives on the other side of the country. It was great to catch up with the characters from the previous books in this series.
The Montgomery and Sheridan sisters are united in Martha’s Vineyard to help Charlotte Montgomery Hammer plan the multimillion dollar wedding of a movie star and basketball sensation. The wedding will take place Thanksgiving weekend, so there are great descriptions of family food, fun and togetherness.
This is Charlotte’s first major job as a wedding planner after losing her husband in a tragic fishing accident. Add the mix photographer Everett who represents a high profile wedding magazine. Sparks begin to fly as Everett works to help Charlotte manage the flighty bride.
The characters are engaging as the work together for a common goal to make the wedding a success. The descriptions of the wedding scene are amazing.
Thank you to the officer for a ARC of this fun Thanksgiving read.
Loved this story. The whole family is getting together for Thanksgiving but this book draws attention to Charlotte and as a wedding planner the big wedding she is going to plan will it all work out. Read it to see. A VERY GOOD READ.
The first three books in this series highlighted the Sheridan sisters, this is their cousin Charlotte's story. Charlotte lost her husband in a boating accident a year and a half ago and is still grieving. She started her own wedding planning business working with her sister, cousin and even her daughter helping out. She accepts a celebrity wedding to happen over the Thanksgiving weekend, only a short time away. Can she and her family pull this off?
Planning this wedding was stressful, yet hilarious to me as a reader. The calls she took from the bridezilla caused everyone to go into a tizzy. Enter Everett, a well-known photographer who is dealing with his own issues. I could feel the undercurrent and sizzle as I read this story. I liked the quiet attraction Katie Winters wrote and how Everett just wanted to help, be welcomed and find what he was really looking for. This was an enjoyable story that fit into my expectations of this series. With a great setting, wonderful family interactions, comfortable activities and enough humour to keep me smiling, I enjoyed A Vineyard Thanksgiving. I love my visits to Martha's Vineyard and checking in on the Sheridan family and friends. Thanks to the author for my copy of this book, the rating and opinions shared are my own.
A Vineyard Thanksgiving: The Vineyard Sunset Book Series Book 4 is by Katie Winters. This book continues the saga of the Sheridan Sisters on Martha’ Vineyard. This book begins with a flashback with Charlotte and Jason finally getting together. That was long ago and Charlette loves getting these flashbacks. Charlotte still thinks of him often and misses him greatly. Her sister Claire and her twins are trying to get her out of her depression; but it isn’t working. After Claire and the girls leave, she gets a phone call wanting her to take on a celebration wedding for Ursula Pennington and Orion Thompson. After mentioning it to her sisters, they immediately get excited and tell her they will help get it done. She wants a wedding on this island at Thanksgiving which is three weeks ahead. They can do this. The day finally arrives and already Charlotte is exhausted. Everett Rainey the photographer is here, which is good and the cake is done. The flower and decorations are going up for the rehearsal. This is now a family affair; but it will put Charlotte’s name out there as a fantastic wedding planner. All is well until the bride shows up. Can Charlotte handle this?
Katie Winter's fourth book in The Vineyard Sunset Series is sweet and life-affirming. Charlotte, a wedding and events planner, is still depressed after her fisherman husband's accidental death. She has a wonderful daughter, Karen, and several friends in her family who all want to help her. An unexpected opportunity presents itself in the form of a celebrity wedding on Martha's Vineyard, a project that will keep her mind busy and help her out financially. Photographer Everett arrives on the island to take pictures for a reputable magazine, and is invited to Thanksgiving at the Sheridan's home. The attraction between Charlotte and Everett is instant. I really enjoyed the family dynamics at the Thanksgiving celebration. All the work involved in planning the wedding and carrying it out was compelling and amusing. I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it.
This is actually the 4th book in a series about an extended family who live on Martha’s Vineyard. I was looking for a book set around Thanksgiving so I read this one first.
It was a pleasant contemporary romance and I’ll probably go ahead and read the first three books. They are fairly short and will be quick reads.
Charlotte has been a widow for about a year and a half. Her husband was a fisherman and died in a boating accident. Charlotte has a successful wedding planning business and help from her 14 year old daughter and cousins. She’s hired to plan a huge celebrity wedding on the island over Thanksgiving weekend with only a few weeks notice. It’s all the family hands on deck to pull this off.
Everett is a professional photographer who specializes is celebrity events. He’s heading to the island for the big event instead of spending the holiday with his family.
It was a little difficult to keep the large cast straight at first without reading the previous books but I quickly got it all sorted out. I enjoyed this one as a nice quick read during a busy holiday week.
A Vineyard Thanksgiving was such an incredible book. Charlotte is a wedding planner and cousin to the Sheridan sisters. A famous actress hires her to plan an elaborate wedding at Matha's Vineyard. Charlotte has 3 weeks to plan it and it falls right after Thanksgiving. Everett Rainey, the photographer for the wedding arrives on the island. The chaos of planning a wedding in three weeks and the only help she has is her wonderful family who is always there for each other. This was a very family involved book, with love, laughs, and celebration. Can Charlotte's life turn around and have happiness again? Katie Winters has done it again. Katie, this is a magnificent series. Thank you.

I absolutely loved this book - the Sheridan sisters and Montgomery sisters are so relatable! I love learning more of the back stories of each of these characters. Charlotte's story is sad but gives hope to those deal with grief and loss. Seeing her story unfold and getting introduced to Everett and seeing their relationship spark was beautiful. Winter wonderland in the Vineyard makes me want to see the island in the snow. I feel like I'm a part of this family - Katie Winters writing is just fantastic. Can't wait for the next book in the series. I was provided a free ARC for a honest review.
A Vineyard Thanksgiving is basically a cozy romance set in Martha’s Vineyard. Wedding planner Charlotte is still lost after the death of her husband a year earlier. With the support of her daughter, sister, and cousins, Charlotte accepts an almost impossible celebrity wedding assignment for the weekend after Thanksgiving. As she works to make the over the top wedding a success, she meets event photographer Everett, with whom she immediately bonds. Together they work through the craziness of Bridezilla Ursula and are surprised by the feelings they develop for each other.
I felt there were too many confusing characters for me to keep track of and it was a kind of fluff book that I couldn't get into. Too much about fluffy relationships and not enough about serious struggles for survival. Maybe because I prefer more action and thrills in books and movies that this work disappointed me. There are readers who like to have a ton of overwhelming characters introduced, so this work may be for them and people who like the kind of light stuff that I personally consider yucky and boring. I just couldn't get into this book and did not finish it.
This was such a good story! You’re definitely going to need tissues, so make sure they’re within reach. The storyline was so awesome; the characters were well developed; the plot was filled with so much angst and unexpected twists and turns; but the HEA was so worth the wait. You’re going to live this one...so grab your copy today! (I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book and absolutely loved it!!) ❤️❤️
Charlotte is the cousin of the Sheridan sisters, the cousin that so much has happened to the past two years. When the latest event fell into her lap she could not quite believe it, but Lola and Christine helped her make her decision to be wedding coordinator for the wedding of the year. When one of the photographer's showed up early, the fun began. Katy Winter, you did great as usual. I love this family.
