A rift in the fabric of space and time left me stranded on a desolate alien world.
But the beast that is coming to claim my body is the stuff of ancient legends and nightmares.
Leathery wings. Curving talons. Fiery breath.
Lucky for me, this dragon doesn’t want to eat me alive. He’s got something else in mind. Something unspeakable.
Back at his cave, he reveals his other form: seven feet of ripped muscle and dominance, and that’s not including his horns.
He says I am his now. His atma. His fated mate.
He says he’s going to lock me away in his mountain fortress for eternity, a human toy to use for his pleasure. To punish as he sees fit. To carry his dragon spawn.
Remember when I said lucky for me?
I'm thinking I spoke too soon.
Alien Dragon's Spawn is a maximum heat sci-fi romance. While the books in this series form a connected story arc, each novel is a self-contained romance focusing on a different couple. There is no cheating and a much-deserved HEA at the end!
Man this "new" world is something else. LB's writing and world building just pulls you in. She always has such realness in her novels. I loved Katrine. She was smart and not a push over. Also this is not a normal shifter story. Skal is a dragon first and foremost, that can kinda shift into a man to be more pleasing to his mate. But he can only shrink and change certain things so much *wink wink. I love aliens that look like aliens and Skal is definitely that. He is possessive but loving and nuturing. Totally swoon worthy.
This is the first novel I've read that had a different kind of impregnation. I'm not gonna spoil anything about that. One of the things I love about LB is that she writes realistic characters and reactions, not just weird alien smut, though there is extreme steam in this with what Skal can do with his tail and tongue lol.
This is a great opener to a new series. I can't wait for the other girls stories, especially Nora.
Steam: 4.5/5 - Perfect amount of steam; lots but not so much that there's no room for connection, romance, and an adventure.
Shit's kinky af though, like... it gets reeEeal weird up in there. Some of it definitely strayed out of sexy territory and deep into wtf 😆 The author describes herself as "exploring the primal side of love and lust" and umm.. she did that.
Also there were a few times where the language painted some imagery that wasn't for me: "hot meat" 🤣 "her fucked hole" "secreting". Some real gems.
TW: For dub-con. Skal doesn't go too far for me but he was cutting it real close.
Romance: 5/5 - Again, shit gets weird. It's one of those books that can be a deal breaker when it comes to feminist principles. The fantasy was high enough for me to be able to separate it from reality and it spoke to my primal side in a way I was there for. A lot of suspension of disbelief was required though.
The connection between Skal and Katrine was there from the beginning. They got to know one another quickly and worked out lots of kinks (heh). Watching them fight it out was hot as hell.
I loved that Skal was a bad ass who rose beyond his limits to protect the ones he loves. He thinks he should be respected for his dominance and shows that he can back it up. He had a somewhat "might makes right" attitude but was willing to hear Katrine out and change his perspective. I'd been craving a story that felt safe like this one, Skal is a capable protector and isn't gonna let anything get out of hand.
The tiny "3 months in the future" blurb at the beginning added a layer of safety to the whole thing. No matter what happened, I was assured that things would end up ok. I wondered if it was too much of a spoiler at first, but I always assume a romance novel is gonna end with and HEA and it this case I had a guarantee.
Plot: 4.75/5 - Bequin is able to paint a vivid picture with her words. She builds an awesome fantasy world and creates both male and female characters that start out smart and evolve into better, more capable people. I like high heat in my romance but I want it to be packed with plot as well and it was delivered.
Both of Bequin's books I've read so far have been creative and boundary pushing. There were a few things that were recycled between the two stories but they were elements that I liked so I'm not complaining too loudly.
I love that the FMC's are brave, kind, capable and clever.
I did not love how detailed/odd the breeding and birthing process was. Definite TW to anyone with tokophobia or a low tolerance for weird and graphic alien parts. I was moved by the pain-share though, top notch sweetness.
Rereadable: Yes! Strange as hell but it's got enough of my favorite tropes (primal, romantic as hell, instant protector who puts that above all else, alpha who can prove himself, brat tamer, smart characters, emotional transparency, growth, well built fantasy world) that it's probably a new favorite.
Continuing with series/author: For sure. I'm probably gonna jump right into the next (and last) one in this series. I want to wait because I'm almost certain it's gonna be super formulaic and I'll regret it but I don't think I'm gonna be able to stop myself. I hope there may be more in the series in the future but I saw the 2nd book was published in 2020 so I don't know if the author is gonna come back to it or not.
The writing and editing of the ARC version of the manuscript was clean, with few typos that I found. The world building was vibrant, with far future Earth coming to vivid life. The characterization was pretty good, with the hero and heroine both having some nuance. The development of the romantic relationship was sweet and very spicy. The plot and pacing was tight and quick, meaning I read this book in one sitting. There was low angst and high stakes in this novel, which is one of my preferred narrative structures for a romance novel. This sci-fi romance used the Fated Mates trope, the Breeder trope, and the Kidnapping trope. The world building, plot and pacing were all four stars. The characterization and development of the romantic relationship were also four stars. The combined score of this novel is therefore four stars. This novel ended on a Happy Ever After ending. I hope the author writes romances for all the scientists transported through the space-time rift eventually. I recommend this novel to readers who like the dragon shifters in romance novels to be dragons with a human form, instead of humans with a dragon form. I would definitely read more books in this series if the author published more. I may buy myself a keeper copy of this novel.

"He hated anything that came between him and his treasure." "... that grass skirt that had now become his mortal enemy."
Let me tell you just looking at the cover of the book and I was sold. Alien and dragons - I'm there; spawn - check please! LB hit the trifecta in one title. She is good. I will tell that the book is deliciously good too. Oh, so good. Like naughty, raunchy, I can't help smiling how wicked this is. Bad alien dragon tongue-lashing take on a whole new meaning now. In case you don't know, no one writes a good steamy steamy scenes like LB. She really knows how to make them realistic while humorously raunchy at the same time (I totally mean that as a compliment - smoking lady garden ).
I really hope that this is the start of more beautiful this in the future because I like this alternate world with it's many possibilities. Be warned peeps there is stream coming from more than the dragons in this book and I love every but of it. Though Kat not one of my favorite female characters, as I felt like she was selfish and kinda manipulative, she redeemed herself by the end. LB's development of Skal makes up for Kat. His cave-man ways turn protector make him all the more likable. Overall, more please.

Katrine and her fellow scientists are set to make history when they turn on their supercollider to full power for the first time. They get their wish, but not quite in the way they expect. A hole is ripped in the time-space continuum and it leaves them scattered across an unfamiliar landscape. When natives chain Kat to a dais as an offering for a dragon, she's sure she's done for. Skal has other plans. He recognizes her as his fated mate and absconds with her back to his lair. She's desperate to find her friends. He's desperate to solidify their bond. Just how long will it take to find a happy middle ground?
Kat was really clever and brave. She's supposed to be a genius mathematician, so it's really nice that I never felt like she had too-stupid-to-live moments. Skal is a dragon through and through. Even though he's capable of shifting to a certain extent, it's impossible for him to pass as a human. I appreciated that he maintained so many foreign aspects to his form and behavior. Although the timeframe of the story was super short, it felt like a lot happened and that there was ample development between Skal and Kat's relationship. There were two very brief scenes where he reprimanded her, but this definitely wasn't a dark romance. Kat made it clear that she understood that the acts were due to the learning curve of a dragon figuring out how to interact with a human.
Given the title, it should come as no surprise that there are baby-making elements to the story. "Spawn" feels like a bit of a crude word, but it's honestly just because Skal doesn't have a better term. He wants his own cute, little dragonlings. Thanks to multiple epilogues, the reader isn't left wondering how his desires pan out.
I can't wait to see how things go for the rest of the lady scientists and the dragons we've yet to meet. I'm sure that there are plenty of secrets to uncover about the world they now inhabit and I am definitely planning to stick around for the long haul.

This well–paced, shifter romance is the first book in a series that promises to be highly entertaining & very intriguing. The plot is definitely well-written & full of suspense with good scene descriptions & world building. The character’s personalities are well-developed & one of the characters (Skalamadrion aka Skal, a Dragonlord) is extremely determined to claim his very feisty human female mate (Katrine) who somehow lands in a strange new & unfamiliar world due to a experiment gone wrong naturally she is not too happy with this situation or with Skul. There is: humans, Dragonlords, friendship, strange animals, mates, missing friends, intrigue, suspense, drama, experiments, a unknown phenomena, drama, action, adventure, confrontations, rituals, emotional turmoil, defiance, attempted escape, discipline, spankings, verbal conflict, disagreements, decisions, manipulations, challenges, violence, conflict, surprises, contentment, explicit steamy scenes & a well-deserved satisfying conclusion. I look forward to the next book in this series with great anticipation & would recommend this book.
Kat’s world is falling apart and then in the blink of an eye, she gets transported to another time with her friends. Skal has been looking for his dragon mate for a long time and Kat’s first impression of him is not good as she thinks he is going to eat her. Which Skal eventually does with his wicked tongue, just not the way Kat was envisioning. Their relationship heats up quickly as Skal is eager to breed his mate and Kat strongly fights his mating urges as she does not understand why Skal thinks she is his mate & she is concerned for her missing friends. Will they be able to find her friends in time before the circling danger closes in? As they get to know each other, Skal’s dominance grows on her and Kat begins to crave the pleasure only he can give her. There is a twist with how they produce their love child and Skal works hard to keep his spawn nourished. When the danger gets to close to Kat, Skal shows her just how fierce of a dragon protector he can be and the HEA is explosive.

When I saw this book -actually the author- available as an ARC read, I snatched it up. And am I glad I did! Machine (read it) put Lizzy Bequin solidly on my watch list, and Alien Dragon’s Spawn, to my 1-click list.
This author knows how to write a strong, smart, bright h. Kat wasn’t belligerent or unpleasant in her focus and wasn’t TSTL -thank you! We SAW her intelligence, we weren’t TOLD about it. And Skal? What a great character! He was an alien dragon, not a human man that can shift into a dragon. Wonderful! Alpha, protective, possessive. *sigh*
This book had HEAT, humor, adventure, action, cultural differences and did I list heat? Everything I look for in a romance. And it had some of my favorite elements- fated mates, kidnapped, an alien alien. The world building was on point and the story very well plotted.
This was, honestly, everything I look for and want in my scifi romances. CanNOT wait for the next one!

At first that intrigued me was the dragon. And he is amazing. The way the author describe him as the dragon is majestic. And the way he first come out from the mist? It was magical! Majestic! Enchanting! I was breathless with his beuty that I can just clearly see from the author description. And then I laugh Not sure if this book meant to be Rom-Com, but I laugh in several part. Because human dragon still a man afterall who would grumble under his breath when his mate fights him The steamy scenes are 🔥 Cause hot dang imagine there's big, fierce, fiery dragon eating you out until your pubs got the flame and his tongue! Lawdylawwwd the man got mighty tongue! And tail! Man oh man, give me human dragon anytime and put me in a mountain cave, I'll be happy But the chemistry between the main characters are non for me. I can't feel or see their connection.

Katrine and some of her fellow scientists end up getting sucked into a rip in time and space continuum. That wasn't supposed to happen when they turned their supercolliders to full power. They get scattered across an unfamiliar landscape. As Kate gets caught by the natives she's chained on a dais and left as an offering for a dragon. Skal recognizes Kat as his fated mate and takes her to his lair. She wants to find her friends and he want to mate. The pace in the story was really good and flow quite well. This is the first book in a new series that's very entertaining and quite intriguing. It has lots of action, adventure, drama, suspense, discipline, spanking and making of little dragonnetts. I loved the conclusion and can't wait for the next story. If you like Sci-Fi and Dragons this is the book for you. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

She is terrified when a huge red dragon carries her away to his fortress. Skalamagdrion scents his mate and takes her home to breed her but Kat has to shorten his name to Skal and is not in favor of being breed as her doctors had told her she was unable to have children which had broken up her marriage.

I love her female characters! Katrine is a cigarette smoking, black tar coffee drinking, divorced mathematician working on a project out in the middle of nowhere, when she and her project team are transported through a rift to a world where she's abducted by Skal, a huge red dragon. He says she's his mate, but she's been hurt before and has her own secrets. Katrine's determined to escape and Skal can't believe how much trouble this little human can get into. Sparks fly, but the passion between them is electric. As usual there are twists and turns and surprises around every corner that keep you enthralled. The characters are well written and the storyline is unique and refreshing. A great read.

Lizzy Bequin is fast becoming one of my must read authors and this book only reinforces that title. Ms. Bequin can grab onto a reader with the 1st page and doesn't let go till the very end. Her story lines and world building are so realistic that you find yourself feeling like you are inside her books (sometimes blushing as well). Her characters are so delightfully flawed that you can't help cheer for their happy every after. Skal and Katrine's story is one of finding the thing that you never thought you could have during a difficult time in your life. This story has everything that you could want in a book comedy, action, drama, conflict and of course hot romance. This is a 1st in a new series and I can't wait for more stories in this terrific world as well as with the characters that we met in this book. You will be very sorry if you miss this terrifically delightful book!

I have consumed every story in Ms. Lizzy Bequin’s Alpha/Omega series, so, when I had the opportunity to read her latest book, I jumped at the chance. Never having read dragon erotica before, I am not sure if Ms. Bequin’s story is re-inventing the wheel or breaking the mould; all I can tell you is that it had me intrigued, smiling and, laughing! In the back of my mind, all I kept thinking was that Puff the Magic Dragon has grown up and become a shape-shifting Alpha, who has learned how to use the art of seduction, with kindle-melting intensity; which he often uses to control and soothe his mate’s feisty temperament. Ms. Bequin engages all five fo the reader’s senses, providing a well-rounded, enjoyable read that can only be the beginning of another great series!!
There is a group of women who are trying to recreate the energy levels that existed during the Big Bang. Something goes wrong and they are flung into another world, they think. Once there, Katrine gets taken by natives and is set to be sacrificed to a dragon. But Skal realizes that Kat is his Atma (fated one) and can speak with her. He takes her away and decides that it is time to breed her. There is more going on and it is a an interesting read. There seems to be the setup for more stories about the other women as well.

The one thing I love about fantasy/sci-fi stories is the fact you can play with anatomy.. I mean it's a woman's fantasy to have things a little different. Kat is a scientist who is working on a project that has a catastrophic failure, or did it? Ending on what looks like an alien planet, she has to figure out a way to survive. Trying not to give too much away.. just go read it.. it will make you wish you were whisked away by a dragon...

This wonderfully written Book 1, Alien Dragon Romance was interesting as it had some very well-thought out scenes and story plots. These characters have very strong wills and personalities and their interactions are believable. This wonderful story has the following: intrigue, twists and turns, adventure, action, danger, love, steam and a HEA. It is a fast-paced, good dragon book that will keep you engaged from start to finish. I am will be on the lookout for books and series by this author

This is the first book in a new series and it starts of with a bang! Although we get a lot of the backstory to how the female scientists end up in this strange new world, the story of Skal and Kate is not neglected. The world building, character development and overall story is very intriguing and pulls you in from the beginning. Lots of drama, danger, sexy scenes and fun ensue for this couple trying to reach their own happily ever after. I am looking forward to reading more books in the future.

Katerine is part of an all-female scientific group starting up a new supercollider that's hidden in Arizona. Unfortunately, the activation causes a rip in the fabric of space-time and the five woman are sucked in. Kat and two other woman end up together on an unknown planet while their other two team members are nowhere to be found. Kat is caught by the indigenous people and strung up to be a sacrifice...to a dragon.
This is the start to a new Bequin series that promises to be quite entertaining and I am looking forward to reading the next story. Don't forget to read the bonus scene. Very cute!
Dragons of Arcturus... Katrine and her team, while testing the Blue Mesa Supercollider, accidentally tore the very fibers of time and space. Kat and the four women she was working with were pulled through the rift to an unfamiliar world of primitive people and dragons. A dragon shifter, Skal recognizes Kat as his fated mate. Now all he has to do is convince her... I received a free copy of this book. This review was posted voluntarily
This is a fantastic start to a new series it’s book 1 in the Dragons of Arcturus and I can’t wait to read more, there are 🔥 and steamy scenes between Skal and Kat and there’s plenty of chuckle worthy moments too. Sorry guys no spoilers the blurb practically says it all, amazing descriptions of the characters and the planet and I can’t wait to find out about the other women scientists. I loved this story it had me hooked right from the start and I definitely recommend this book.
Wow! This was such a steamy story that I was fanning myself constantly! The description of the world transported me there--it was so well described. Although Kat and Skal had their HEA, there are still questions left open that can lead to other books. I am just (impatiently) waiting for the next book!

I really liked it. There was some of everything. There were castles, ray guns, volcanoes, aboriginal tribes, killer dragons, etc There is cool world building which incorporated evolution of plants and animals. It was past, present, and future all together. Kat and Skal's story was your average fated mates romance.

A surprising story about love and family Katrine is a mathematician who’s part of a groundbreaking female only scientific team. However, when they rip a hole in the space-time continuum, the unthinkable happened. Space dragons! This story is action packed for page 1. I really enjoyed the love that develops between Katrine and Skal and eventually encompasses their growing family. I’m looking forward to more Dragons of Arcturus.
Intriguing story line, interesting take on Dragon shifters and some world building around their existence. The description of Skal was well drawn, however, Katrine at times was whiney and annoying. I assuming the other scientists rescued will eventually have their storylines? The book ended on a strong HFN with a bundle of joy.
Exactly what I've come to expect from Lizzy Bequin!
I love how Lizzy thinks outside the box and delivers unexpected twists along the way! She also has a habit of taking you out of your comfort zone to new thought patterns. The sex scenes are NEVER boring!! Can't wait to see what she writes next! If you haven't read anything else by Lizzy Bequin, after you read this one, be sure to check out her other books. She has the Primal Alphas in a box set and the Quarantine Omega series, plus a few really good standalone books.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. The book is about dragons. Katrine dreams about dragons and be sacrificed to one. The females of this scientists that are doing something big. Now would be time to get the book.
This was a cool story for Skal and Katrine. There was some history shared to fill in the story. They had an unexpected coming together, Skal the Dragon and Katrine the human female, which was was interesting. One of the best things was that they could communicate with each other just fine so no mistaken communication. Katrine was bold and kept trying to escape but then she started to accept that they were mates. Read On!
