Honestly better than the first in most respects, I feel like the whole ‘mock confession’ plot point was a little forced but it’s a series that’s story oriented with porn logic so I can’t really be mad
I’ll make sure it is. A kiss so special, you’ll never forget it.
Koduka continues to fulfill her obligations to Landlady in exchange for rent, but there’s a new woman in the building whose tastes overlap with Koduka’s an awful lot. Still, Koduka has responsibilities. Except… what happens when she sees them as less of a chore and more of a pleasure?
This volume is sugar and spice and everything nice, truly. From the steamy to the dreamy, it has everything you’d want and more besides. If a story ever took its shifty premise and used it to amazing effect, it’s this one.
In fact, as we see by the ending, this is a romance that is, in fact, hamstrung by the way it began. It’s chock full of complicated emotions and difficult choices, both past and present.
And it’s the nuances that cropped up over the first volume that continue to make the romance so good here. If you can call it romance. Which it is. But also kind of isn’t. As with most things in life, it’s complicated.
Koduka is having a real problem with the fact that she’s had sex with a girl, but she still can’t stop thinking about it. So she takes a lot of this volume trying to get her dokis in a row, although it’s pretty clear that her subconscious has this all figured out.
So everything is going to be sunshine and lilies? Not so fast. It takes two to tango and, her jealousy when Koduka briefly becomes less of a shut-in aside, Landlady has not forgotten that this affection is predicated on a contract, no matter what Koduka is saying.
Partly this is obviously a defence mechanism - Landlady’s more than a little into Koduka, but the idea that they could be a genuine pair seems to be a bridge too far for her and scares her to death. As put together as she is at home, there’s a strong social anxiety vibe from Landlady when she’s in the wild.
Arguably this is purely her not wanting Koduka to fall in love with her because of the nature of their relationship, but it seems to run deeper than that. She’s certainly more than a little lost without her.
As in the previous story, this one gets better the longer it goes on. There are some adorable dates between the two - the planetarium is really sweet, those two making an effort is just stupidly cute, and the story finds the joy in the little things, like going shopping together and finding mutual likes.
And this story isn’t blind to the raw sex appeal of something that has nothing to do with sex. By far the hottest scene in this book involves hand holding, of all things, but the way the mangaka gets across Koduka’s feelings during this sequence is spot on.
I also appreciate a yuri story that can take a swerve. That beautiful other woman who moves in looks like she’ll be a problem, but that storyline actually turns out to be one of loss and regret. When her cheerful persona slips at one point it’s a real heartbreaker.
It’s nice that the story bothers to address the ‘but we’re both girls’ of it all, as Koduka wrestles with her sexuality, since despite her arrangement there wasn’t necessarily a hard lean into the lesbian side of things.
Now, this is still a yuri paradise story through and through, being wholly uninterested in men, but that’s par for the course. I still think this is doing a lot with only a couple characters and it’s exploring them to the fullest in a way that really makes this work.
Yeah, you can still argue that the premise is problematic, but the story’s pretty aware of that and, as it happens, the person who devised that contract is now being held back by it and using it as a shield. This story has one of the saddest confessions ever, in a way.
4.5 stars - hey, just give me well-written characters and some cute moments and some drama that comes from the people and not from tossing in outside factors and I’m a happy reader.
okay...now that we're past the focus on the uncomfy premise, this is turning into such a sweet, spicy, and surprisingly realistic story. koduka and hara's relationship continues to develop, and while it's complicated (mostly due to said uncomfy premise), it's also fun. the planetarium date, late-night shopping, and new neighbor makes this volume pretty packed with new experiences for the two. I especially love the new neighbor, who also reminisces on a woman she wishes she'd confessed to...please, please, please!!! I hope we get some closure for her in the upcoming volumes, it tugged at my heartstrings. I also liked how koduka finally begins addressing her budding feelings, and how she gets some good advice from their neighbor - stop thinking about it as 'I should do this or that because she's a woman', and focus more on how to make her happy since she's someone special to you.
I'm very into this now, and I continue to absolutely ADORE this art style - it's the perfect mix of cute and sexy. more of this series, please!!!

look i'm not being ironic at all, no joking, no committing to a dumb bit here because i take the art i consume seriously, and believe that everything i take in deserves genuine engagement and critique and i know the book is supposed to be silly and lascivious--and it is, good lord is it funny and gratuitous and goofy but speaking as a 38-year-old bisexual male who struggled with their own urges, feelings, and desires around same-sex attraction around Kudoka's age (and has literally ZERO experience with yuri or romance in general), i was struck once again by how raw and real her confusion felt. they feel earned, sitting as revelations in the middle of what could have been a completely frivolous story and finding something that feels so profound to me in such an unexpected place is the beauty of venturing beyond your comfort zone
I waited to read this until volume 3 was release so I could finish the series.
Koduka is still in the contract with her landlady so looking for a job has not been much on her mind. Her landlady however is.
What happens when favors and action are done not because of the contract but because she wants to? Koduka realizes that she really care for the landlady and enjoys being with her.
I thought the introduction of the tenant, was going to cause drama. It was really sweet and I hope we see them again.
The premise is good and I feel like this could be longer than three volumes. Feels like yuris only get one or two volumes before they end.

Chiyo is a real cutie. The landlady, she's soooooo cute. These two make such a great couple. There's cooking, shopping, new neighbors, a planetarium visit, and some really intense love making. Chiyo even tries to confess to landlady that she loves her, but landlady blows it off as a fake confession. Keep trying, Chiyo! I look forward very much to the next volume.
Koduka-san and her landlady is getting closer than the previous volume. Plus they will meet Setouchi-san from room 102 who is a game developer like Koduka-san...Yes, she's been job hunting for days/weeks and her landlady takes care of her with satisfying results. I'm really happy for them at the same time they make a great couple despite the age difference. I hope it'll have an anime adaptation in the future because they're adorable to look at and stuff.
'I Can't Believe I Slept With You' vol 2 deepens the relationship between Chiyo and her landlady, but it's hard to get closer with her debt and their 'arrangement' between them. We also get a sexy older neighbor moving in, which is a fun addition to the story, and some very passionate hand-holding. Looking forward to more of this.
I ended up reading all three volumes back to back. So this review will be for the whole series. I truly was not expecting to binge this like I did. Absolutely adorable and I just wanted to see more of them being so cute. I’m truly sad this series is so short. I would’ve loved to see and learn more about all of the characters.
I can't get enough of this story. Koduka feeling all these new feelings and not being sure what to do with them. The land lady thinking she's just doing favors still. Eh. Cuteness overload. Let's go! Round 3.
Again, the transactional nature of the relationship and the whole power-imbalance are less than ideal. However! Despite the setup this adorable sapphic tale is somehow quite wholesome and I find myself rooting for them!!
Things are heating and coming to fruition, but that stupid contract is totally hanging over their heads. Gah, what's a girl to do - they're lesbians HAROLD!
Ah!!!! We've reached the part with feeeelings! As much as I want to see them come together on their own, I loved watching them start to build real intimacy.
