I loved all the books in this series thus far but this one is the best one. The story of the Montgomery's. This is a must read. The story involves all the family but centers around Andy and his father. Any thing I write about this story could be a spoiler so you must read for yourself. A GREAT READ.

My thoughts: You know how you watch a sitcom and there is this new younger kid and they have this background story about where the kid was in earlier episodes. This book is like that except you don't know you're in a flashback until chapter 3. Kerry & Trevor have 2 extra kids I previously had not heard of, Andrew and Kelli and this is Andrew's story in 2003. If it wasn't for Trevor, Charlotte, and Claire I would have been lost. Then it jumps to the present day, I was completely confused I just gave up on the family tree and timeline and hoped for the best. It was a lot of the same family drama from the first book. Then there was Kerry and Carrie. Overall I wasn't a fan of this one. This might have been where I quit or took a break from the series, but since I already have up to book 15 I'm going to stick with it.
Recommend to others: Maybe. It's not bad just not for me.

True rating. Didn't love this book as much as the others in the series but I'm not sure why. Everyone's storyline is continuing nicely as the family relationships deepen but for some reason I just didn't feel that "oh bummer it's over" feeling when I finished this one. I'm going to keep reading because I really am invested in this family but I hope the "magic" comes back in the next book. I could also chalk it up to holiday distraction so hopefully that's the problem. Still recommend reading it though.
The Montgomery family is complete again just in time for Christmas as The youngest Andrew returns after years and years of no contact during multiple military tours. Called home after his father’s auto accident Andrew reluctantly returns and realizes how much he has missed in the lives of his siblings and nieces and nephews. As he reconnects with his siblings he realizes sister Kelli’s abusive marriage has not changed
Andrew reconnects with friend Beth a sister to his best friend Luke (a military casualty). He is immediately accepted by her young autistic son Will.
The Montgomerys are gathered with the Sheridans for a heartfelt Christmas celebration Lots of vivid descriptions for holiday decorations and mouth watering food. Definitely a feel good Christmas story about a family reconnecting
Thank you to the author for an ARC. This is my honest Opinion.
This was a story about the Montgomery family focusing on Andrew, who left after he graduated high school with his best friend Kurt to join the army and hasn't been in contact with them for seventeen years. It isn't until one of his sisters is able to get in touch with him to tell his father is in the hospital that he decides to go home again, back to Martha's Vineyard. He's missed out on a lot over the years, but as this story showed forgiveness and healing is possible and that it's never too late to go home. His siblings relationships aren't perfect and they have their own issues and hurts to deal with. His long lost high school crush Beth has her own struggles as a single mom to an autistic child. Beth's son Will was so sweet with his struggles with bullies, his endless questions, and his capacity to love. I loved how they all rallied together to make this a special Christmas celebration for the family. It warmed my heart and made me smile.
Katie continues to weave together the lives of the Montgomery's and Sheridan's. Touching upon real life problems and getting things accomplished without alot of histrionics. I want to be a part of these families.
ARC for honest review with no compensation 4.5 stars
A Vineyard White Christmas is book 5 in the Vineyard Sunset series by Katie Winters.
We re back on Martha’s Vineyard with the Sheridan sisters, the Montgomery family and a long lost son who left 17 years ago to join the military, refused to stay in contact but now his father is injured in an auto accident which he may not survive. When Andrew arrives he realizes all he turned his back on and maybe a Christmas miracle will show him how to mend those fences....
A Vineyard White Christmas is number 5 in the Vineyard Sunset Series by Katie Winters. I’ve liked them all but think this one is my favorite. The Montgomery and Sheridan families are all back on the Vineyard, even Andrew Montgomery. A great family Christmas story.
Katie Winters focuses more on the Sheridan family in this fifth edition of the Vineyard Sunset series. Andrew left home to join the military after he felt he could never please his father or meet his standards. He returns after 17 years because his father was in a terrible car accident. There was more "darkness" in this book. Andy was injured in the army and continued to separate himself from his family until this incident. Andrew learns of everything that has happened in his family during his absence and especially to his sister Kelli. The bright spot in his return is Beth and her autistic son Will. The book has tragedy, romance and hope. I really enjoyed this book and found it different from the others, but very satisfying. Family and love is once again the focus of the book. What better time than Christmas to reveal the power and depth of family!
I love Katie Winter’s Vineyard series. A Vineyard White Christmas is a great read about family dynamics, love, and loyalty. It is also a reality check on the sacrifices of our veterans. Then the magic and traditions of Christmas come to light for a heartwarming experience.
What a tear jerker! Andy Montgomery homecoming and getting to know more about how that family works - the relationships and the rest of the family was lovely. I had tears in my eyes from the start of the book til the end. Of course there is a beautiful love story - Andy and Beth - will they or won't they? but there was also family relationships - father and son - that needed some time in this book. I loved the Sullivan sisters but the Montgomery family is right up there and I am finding that I love them just as much (as they seem much more complicated!). Can't wait for the next book.
I received an ARC for a fair and honest review. All thoughts and words are my own.
Hmmmm...Certainly not what I expected. I was hoping for something a little more jovial with a lot less angst. Christmas was not a happy time in this book. It literally breaks your heart! Make sure you have tissues when you start this book—you’ll need them! (I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book and it literally heart my heart!)
Visiting Martha's Vineyard with a stop at Sunrise Cove for a Christmas to remember. But before that, we get to meet the Montgomery's, residents on the island. And, are they a big family! It was interesting to get to know all of them and see how the family dynamics work. A very enjoyable read and the way to spend Christmas with family and friends.
Sweet Christmas story of Andy, Beth and Will. Joined by the Sheridan and Montgomery family, see the reunification of Andy to his family. Beth and Will join the family celebration. Enjoy all the characters and their support of each other. I received this arc for an honest review.
Sweet and predictable, like an old holiday tradition, this novel tells the story of Andrew Montgomery. The youngest son of a wealthy family and a star baseball player, he somehow always seemed to find trouble and disappoint his father. He left his home on Martha's Vineyard immediately after graduation, escaping first to Boston and then into the Army with his best friend, vowing never to return. But his best friend died and Andrew spent years in the military until an injury forced him out. Then one of his sisters calls to say their father has been in an accident. So Andrew goes back to Martha's Vineyard, unsure what he'll find there, but knowing he doesn't want to be alone anymore. The story is sweet, right down to the family details like homemade chocolate chip cookies and holiday decorating. The book is marred by occasional clunky writing and incorrect word choices. But if you want a quick, undemanding yet satisfying read on a chilly winter night, this may be just the book for you.
This is a delightful Christmas story saturated with reconciliations and second chances. I frankly loved every page even though I was keenly aware that I had stepped into book five of a series I hadn’t read any of prior to this. Here’s the thing: I don’t read romances anymore if I can help it. I soften that rule a bit for Christmas books, but I normally avoid the genre. The author writes so well, however, that I may have no choice but to immerse myself in the universe she writes about. She brings these characters to vivid life and made me care deeply about all of them.
Andrew Montgomery essentially stormed out of his family’s life shortly after high-school graduation with his best friend. The two joined the military, and Andy’s friend died while on assignment. Andy stayed in, but the enemy eventually injured him, and he had to muster out of the service. It’s been 17 years since he left Martha’s Vineyard and the scathing remarks of a father who considered him a black sheep. But when the call comes from his sister begging him to come home because of a car crash that left dear old Dad in a coma, Andy reluctantly agrees. And his life is never the same again. You’ll love Beth and her autistic son just as much as Andy ultimately does.
If, like me, you enjoy a Christmas story with gloriously happy endings, and if, like me, you love books where grace and forgiveness are prominently on display, then you’ll love this as a great holiday read. I downloaded it to my Kindle Fire assuming I’d be asleep in minutes and would have to restart it the next day. An hour and 40 minutes after I started the book, the Kindle Fire had plenty of juice in its battery, and I was wide awake. Only the bookended. That feels like to me the hallmark of a great writer.
Andrew Montgomery is the youngest by several years in his family. He was the black sheep, getting into minor scraps when young and not getting along with his father. When he graduates high school, he leaves Nantucket with his best friend, Kurt. They join the armed forces with the thought of getting an education when they finish their tour of duty. Kurt is killed and Andrew blames himself. He becomes a career army man, until he is injured and returns to the US. He is a loner, and lives like a recluse, until he gets a call that his father was in a serious accident and may not live. He heads to Nantucket with trepidation, having turned his back on his family so many years before. The Montgomery and Sheridan clans know how to love and forgive, so Andrew/Andy is welcomed back with open arms, but is he ready for that? He has a lot of ghosts and people that need forgiveness, including him to deal with.
I enjoyed getting back into this series. At first, I wasn't sure how this book fit into the series until I realized that Andy was a cousin to the Sheridan sisters. As Andy became immersed in life on the island, he realized how much he missed his family, as well as how much they missed him. There were things that he felt guilty about, such as the verbal and emotional abuse his sister Kelli was dealing with, and he knew about it before he left. He missed seeing his nieces and nephews grow up, and he missed his mother terribly. Themes of reconciliation, forgiveness, spousal abuse, workaholics, grief, love and second chances are well incorporated in the story. If you enjoy clean, family drama with lots of themes built in, then I recommend this series. The narration of the audiobook by Erin Bennet was well done with her easy to listen to voice.
The Vineyard White Christmas: The Vineyard Sunset Series Book 5 is by Katie Winters. A new character is introduced here and that is Andrew Montgomery. He is the youngest son of Trevor and Kerry Montgomery. Kerry is Wes Sheridan’s sister. The five Montgomery children are Steve, Kerri, Charlotte, and Claire with Andrew coming last. Andrew has always though of himself as the afterthought. He was so much younger than the others. He felt he was in the way of his parents and their “rich” lives. All he did was make trouble. He and his best friend, Kurt, could certainly find trouble when they wanted to. When he finally graduated, he and his father had a huge fight and his father basically told him if he caused problems again, he would kick him out of the house. So, he and Kurt left the island to make their fortunes. Their fortune led them to the army and he had been a soldier for seventeen years. During this time, the only news he had of home was when Kurt’s sister said something in her letters to him. However, that news stopped when Kurt was killed. Now, Andrew was being ushered out of the army due to an injury. He is surprised when Claire reaches him and tells him their father is in the hospital. Will he recover? He is also reintroduced to Beth, Kurt’s sister. Can Andrew find a place for himself here on Martha’s island? aaaaaaaaaaaa
I love this series and for the most part it brings me back to days of actually being on the Vineyard. There are just two things I really wish the author didn’t do. If she truly knew the island she would never, ever, ever put a McDonalds there! No chains, they celebrate the local restaurants and history and it’s one of my favorite things about it. Take the kids to Linda Jeans. Secondly, and I know it’s small but when you are there you are “on” Martha’s Vineyard not “in”. You can be in Oak Bluffs but you are on the island. Sometimes I feel like she really knows this place I love and I fall into the story. Then…. I’ll keep reading, I’ve fallen in love with the Sheridan crew and the Montgomery’s as well. But please fix those two things.
A Vineyard White Christmas was an awesome book. A son, Andrew, who has been gone from home for 16 years returns. An accident reunites him with the family he has longed to see again. This was a very moving book. This book revolves around the Montgomery family, cousins to the Sheridan sisters. I loved getting to know more about the families. The Montgomery family sticks by each other just like the Sheridans. I love the extended family aspect to this series. Katie Winters this is one fantastic series and I am ready to read the next book. I can't stop reading this series. Thank you!

Andy hadn't been home for 17 years. He left home at 17 with his friend Kurt, after a horrible fight with his father. The phone call came just before Christmas and Andy did not know if he wanted to answer it. That phone call could change the lives of all the Sheriton's and Montgomery's. Katy has once again kept me at the edge of my seat. Could not put this book down.
This series is such a heartwarming series. I enjoy getting to know the extended family as we move through the series.
Read with tissues as it will have you tearing up throughout. All families have problems and misunderstandings but sometimes it takes a near tragedy for those to be wiped away. We all make mistakes or misjudge a situation, it is how we grow as humans. Our job is to learn from those and see if amends can or should be made.
During this Covid Christmas holiday season, how nice to read a book about this Martha's Vineyard family festivities. Have enjoyed this series. This #5 featuring Andy, the youngest son of Kerry and Treavor, a returning veteran and estranged from his family for 17 years is poignant yet warm and fuzzy!
This was the 5th book in the Vineyard Sunset Series. I was drawn into this series from the first novel in the series. The characters are so well developed and are involved in real life situations. I have enjoyed this series very much and recommend them to those who enjoy a good series of books.
I have been binging on your stories Katie Winters and find each a wonderful story of family life! I don't want to slow down, but will be sorry to see them come to an end!
A veteran, a child with autism and broken memories put back together
Very well depicted story of loss, 2nd chances, pain in depth not all will see or feel, abuse and so much more brought back together by one common thread…. Family, which love is so deep and heals one another.
This was a great book to start the Christmas season. The descriptive winter scenes on Martha's Vineyard made the reader feel like they were right there!, I enjoyed the book and look forward to book number 6!
My favorite Christmas movie is White Christmas. Now my favorite book is this one. So much emotion but good emotion. I loved it right til the end. The best one so far of the series.
