Dante Barresi. We’ve known each other our entire lives. I’ve loved him, I’ve hated him, I’ve needed him, and I’ve wanted to kill him. And not necessarily in that order. We’ve visited the depths of hell together and somehow survived, but every time the dangerously brooding man comes back into my life, someone gets hurt. And it’s usually me. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Now, Dante is a powerful man in the New Orleans underground and he’s making me an offer I can’t refuse - for more reasons than my foolish pride. I should have run screaming for the hills when the only man I’ve ever loved demanded a favor from my father, the police chief of New Orleans. Instead, I’m now married to the mob and the only man in this world with enough power over me to either save me… or destroy me…
This book is the first in a duet and ends in a cliffhanger. The duet has its own HEA and can be read without reading its predecessor, but it is highly recommended to read the Emily trilogy first to understand the dynamics of the relationships between the characters. This book has mature content that is intended for audiences 18+ including situations which may be triggering for some.
Wow this wemt from fast to supersonic. These two have a tenuous relationship. Two powerful families come together for a city to cool down its animosity. But what seems simple turns violent and bloody. Running means leaving the only man she ever loved and into the underworld of criminal activity.

Wow.......The Good, The Bad, The Ugly and The Hot as Sin
Chain Reaction is Book Four of the Barresi series by Lux Miller. As I had not read the Barresi Trilogy series before reading this book I was not sure if I would have any issues with picking up the series and the characters, even though it says this book can be read without the previous books being read. Just be warned that this book ends with a cliffhanger so you will need to read the next in the series to see what happens.
This is the story of Dante and Camilla who are opposites but have an on again / off again relationship. They also have a very strong bond which results in a love / hate relationship. He comes from a family of New Orleans mobsters. She comes from an upstanding family of the city. The characters are filled with a lot of emotion that plays out in their relationship and the forced marriage which binds their families together. Can they ever break through each others defenses enough to actual make it real or will they always be caught going around in a love/hate cycle?
This story is well written and was engaging from the beginning to the end. I am really looking forward to reading the next book in the series to see what happens between Dante and Camilla.
I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
This was an amazing story of second chsnces, and falling in love. Dante and Camiella were such strong amazing characters. Full of depth, emotion, passion, and a history that almost destroyed them.
Dante is an underworld dark force. Camilla is goodness and light. They have been together on and off since she was a teen. His family and upbringing make it impossible to break through his defenses. Impossible for everyone except Camilla.
He has hurt her, more times than he can count. Including forcing her into a marriage to bond their families. Because of the past, Camilla is reluctant to truly be in love with Dante, even though she does love him.
When danger presents, threatening everything he holds dear, will Dante finally let Camilla into his heart? Is he strong enough to give up that piece of himself?
This is book 1 of a series, and while certain aspects reach conclusion, it does end with a cliffhanger. Be warned!
I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving my honest, unbias review.
Chain Reaction by Lux Miller. This is a spin off series related to the New Orleans Mafia Romance (Barresi Books 1-3). You can read this one without the others, but it may be helpful as characters from previous series are in this one too. This story features Dante and Camilla and their long standing on/off love/hate relationship. This one truly has Good, Bad, and Ugly in it. So much drama- it’s almost hard to keep up with all the side drama going on besides that of the main couple. For the most part, I thought this book was good. At some points, it dragged on and I felt that many issues kept coming up and repeating themselves. It’s told in single POV and switches from present to past and ends on a cliff hanger. As much as i really liked Dante in Luca's books but for the majority of this one i really wanted to slap some sense into him especially with the way he treated Camilla (FMC). It just came across to me that people on both sides of Camilla (her family and her husband) were treating her like she was only of use as a bargaining chip and not giving any concern to her as a person. It was clear from the start that all she wanted was someone to love and respect her. Camilla was a smart and quick witted character. I loved her friendship with Emily. The times the were together made me laugh. Saying that though i think Camilla and Dante both grew as characters throughout this book. More so together that i couldnt help but want them to work out their differences and get a HEA. An absolutely great read though. Im loving this series
Lux Miller continues to engage us in the Barresi family. This is book 4 in the series and begins Dante and Camilla's story. They have an off/on, love/want to hate relationship that is full of drama. This book is like West Side Story told in reverse with Dante coming from a wealthy crime family and Camilla's father is the Chief of Police and her brother is a cop, but both families come together to protect the city they love. This story can be read as a stand alone, but I would highly recommend reading the first three first. This does end in a cliffhanger as there will be two other books coming out. Overall this is a wonderful series and will keep you on your toes.
It's hard for me to read books that end in a cliffhanger but this book has so many interesting aspects that it is worth reading for the chance to read about them and then go on to the next book whenever it comes out. There are great sex scenes, the possibility of a mafia war, the politics involved in mafia gang strategies, an evil enemy, many interpersonal relationships and love lives explained, and more. So I recommend this book!!

I am not sure that I even know where to begin writing a review for this because it is truly an awesome experience.
The author did such a great job developing the characters, that I feel like I really know them, and not just the major two characters, but the minor ones too.
I loved everything about it - the characters, the plot, the emotion, the writing, and the ability that the author had to tell me a story that had me wanting this book to go on and on.
I received a free copy of this book. This review was posted voluntarily.
This has been a wonderful, suspenseful, captivating, emotional with wonderful characters series ! If you like mafia books this is a series you ought to read. Dante is the number two mafia guy and Camellia is the police chiefs daughter. How can that work you ask? Well you’ll just have to read to find out. When danger is upon them will Dante finally open up his heart to be loved and to love? Will he protect what’s his? Suspenseful !
I received this as an ARC and this is my honest and voluntary review.
This is book four in the Barresi series. This cover a lot of the encounters of Dante and Camilla and their present relationship. They have known each other since they were teenagers and have had a rocky affair since he is number two in the Barresi Mafia and she is the daughter of the police chief. The story is intense and engaging with extremely well defined characters. This complete series is an excellent read!

Dante and Camille have danced the dance for years and now she's married to him, not a love match but a business agreement, her the daughter of the police chief, him second in command behind his brother Luca of the Barresi family, trouble isn't far away and neither is family. Fantastic continuation of the Barresi family another top notch read from Lux Miller, I want more.

I've read several books written by Lux Miller; she has done a great job at writing a good book; she is becoming one of my favorite authors. I can’t wait to read more of books her books.
The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.
I loved the chemistry between the characters.

Fall more in love with Dante! In Luca and Emily's story, we meet Dante, Luca's little brother, and I craved to know more about him. Dante and Camilla have a passionate and turbulent relationship that spans a decade, starting when Camilla was 13 years old. Throw in a sadistic drug lord, the Rossi Family, and traitors and you have a love story that will blow your mind. The book leaves us with a cliffhanger, but you still will not be able to put it down!
I like Dante. I like how he finally manned up and became the man he was supposed to be. So many stories entwined that it is fun to meet the characters again. It was nice to get a glance of Luca showing his human side. Can’t wait to hear more about him and Emily.

Remember that episode of friends when Rachel broke Joey’s chair Rosita? The cliffhanger of this read was my Rosita. I’m going along immersed in Camilla and Dante’s story that I was actually incredibly upset when there were no more. C&D...god, their love is so...screwed up. I loved it.

The intensity between the two main characters was immediate from the very first chapter. I was taken in by this same intensity and it got even better as the story continued. This was a suspenseful and wildly exciting ride. The scenes were beautifully written. The characters perfectly flawed. The story mesmerizing. Recommend
Between Dante and Camilla. Couldn't get her problem in not wanting an orgasm and why that wasn't a concern to Dante being all macho and mafia. No more insight than what was revealed in the Emily Baressi series. Hopefully the next book brings everything together.
Second chance is one of my favorite tropes. Redemption for Dante and Camilla who are opposites but have a long standing love/hate relationship. They agree to come together fir political reasons to save h th e city but violence isn’t so easy to stop. This book has all the feels and a super anti- hero.
Finally to have dante's story. I loved the different things going on but will say the author left me hanging again waiting on the next book to come out. Can't wait.

Dante’s story is shaping up to be one of my favorite stories. I absolutely adore Camilla lol. She’s sassy, has a fantastic gives no f’s attitude. That bombshell drop about Emily almost gave me a heart attack. I cannot wait to read more!!

I wasn't sure if I would like this sl moving to Dantes story. I do like learning more about his past. It's interesting to see the differences with Luca and him even though they were raised in the same house.
An amazing mafia story. This was a super engaging story. It is phenomenally written and the characters really come to life. Dante is totally on my list of book bf’s. Can’t wait to read the next part!
This was a great book as it introduced Camilla and Dante’s story. Through the first books of the series there was mention of Dante’s past with Camilla and the hatred between their families. This book goes between present and past so we see the side of Dante that we hadn’t seen before. It also gives us more understanding of the hatred between Dante and Leo. There are also appearances from Luca, Emily, Neomi, and more. I loved Camilla’s character in that she speaks her mind. She doesn't let Dante intimidate her. She is an intelligent woman with knowledge of how the mafia works which comes in handy when she becomes part of the Barresi family.
