Rising continues where book one left off with the mission to purge evil from Seattle just getting started. Katherine comes home, but not all is well in the Anderson world as she battles an enemy Joseph can’t put his hands around. While Joseph can’t purge the cancer, he can support this team who attacked the woman he loves. And that’s exactly what he does.
Book two features all of the characters we met in book one with Steve Bregon, aka, Brackish coming in front and center as he does his best to avoid Erin Savage, the waitress he met in book one, who just so happens to be the niece of a big player in the drug world his team is trying to destroy. Though he doesn’t want to fall for the waitress, he finds his thoughts consumed with her at all hours in the day . . . and most especially in the night. Will their story end in a modern-day Romeo and Juliet, two worlds unable to come together, or will he be able to push his feelings aside and do the job he’s there to complete?
This story continues investigating the drug cartel impacting Seattle, while the team, Sleep, Eyes, Brackish, Smoke, and Green continue to grow stronger together. They’ll complete their mission, no matter what it takes, but they might just fall, one man at a time.

This is a captivating novel of multiple storylines, evolving plots and fascinating characters. The continuing love story of Avery and Carl is reflected beautifully in this book. Our new love interests, Steve and Erin, have caught each other's eye. But long time independence and trust issues between them are a bit of a challenge, even for matchmaker Joseph Anderson. Although Joseph has challenges of his own. His beloved wife Katherine is facing her own health crisis and Joseph doesn't like not having control, or the ability to protect her. Although try he does. Continuing the search for Seattle's criminal underground, the special ops trained team Joseph has financed continues their hunt for drug lords and human traffickers. That plot is building to a crescendo we are almost afraid to witness. Love, action, suspense, humor and family, this book has it all. All I can say about this novel, and this series, is give me more!
4 Star Review Rising (Anderson Special Ops #2) by Melody Anne and John Henley
Rising picks up where Shadows left off. Joseph Anderson is determined to exact revenge on those who hurt his beloved Katherine.
This is Steve Bregon, aka, Brackish and Erin Savage’s story and I was invested from the first chapter. As the team continue to bond with one another their investigation into Seattle’s drug cartel the danger will increase.
Brackish is doing his best to deny the feelings that are developing for Erin, as she is the niece of the man they are determined to bring down.
Joseph will have his matchmaking skills tested with these two. There is a great deal of suspense, twists and turns as the team continue to fight to rid the city of the criminals. I can’t wait to see what happens next.
As a self proclaimed connoisseur of books of every genre, I have no tolerance for mediocre plots, boring dialogue, unimaginative storytelling, or forced relationships between lukewarm characters. I won't return a book because I, at the very least, admire and appreciate that time and effort was put forth by the author. But, I won't read another by said author. Nor will I give a review that might prevent another from giving the author a chance. I had never read any works by Melody Anne and/or John Henley until book one of this "Anderson Special Ops Series". I just finished book 2 and, in just a minute will begin book 3. Yes, I have the entire series. Once I've read them all, I will find and purchase every book written by Melody Anne, with and without John Henley. If I discover he has written solo, I'll check those works out as well. I won't sit here repeating what is easily read on the book jacket and teasers. My honest review of this series and these author's is simply this...I now have new writer(s) to add to my list of favorites, new books to recommend to others and the best part is exciting characters I will enjoy revisiting over and over again.
*This is a review of the all the five books in this series * Great stories about love and the challenges all the couples has to go through to find their happy ending. Many familiar characters makes their appearance. The author’s writing style is easygoing and makes these books a joy to read. No unnecessary descriptions of surroundings Good dialogues Lots of emotions All this makes good books.
Engaging!! Erin is a strong, independent woman whose been on her own for quite awhile. Steve (Brackish) was a Special Ops soldier turned genius computer geek. The relationship between Erin and Steve is realistic and sexy. And of course, Joseph is up to his matchmaking ways again which is always fun. I really enjoyed this story and can’t wait to see who falls next. LOL!!
I am really loving this Anderson Special Ops series. It seems like several stories all in one. This book is Erin and Steve's (Brackish) story. Love the fact that he has the common name of Steve. One of my personal favorites. :)
Just when I think that I read another "best" another book comes along. I laughed, I cried and in the end fell in love with the characters. I can feel the love.
I liked this second story, I did not enjoy it as much as the first two books by this author duo. Brackish gave me just what I expected in his character. Joseph and Catherine's story still adds the extra purpose to the story. Erin was sassy, but I still think Jasmine is my favorite baddie.
Once again it's like we are having two parallel stories going on. One that focuses on the Andersons, the other on the team. This time the team's side focus on Steve, aka Brackish, as he goes to investigate a possible lead, and ends up falling for a diner owner. There are complications on both sides, on the Anderson's it's Katherine's cancer and on Brackish is the little misunderstanding he has with Erin as they are ending an almost perfect date that gets out of control. It all ends up in a happy note, with Joseph being able to play cupid once again. What I didn't like is that again we skipped or missed parts of the stories as we go from one to the other and what I feel like would be really good additions are brushed over or omitted as we go from one story line to the other. I like how it shows both sides, but I would like it more if we didn't have to miss parts of the story, or maybe the jumps between the two are just an excuse not to write some stuff. Overall is not bad, and I liked to see more of Joseph, who is usually just a side character, and I liked Erin's and Steven's love story, even if some parts were a little supperficial.
I really enjoyed this book just as much as I do all the books about the Anderson family. However, I was a little disappointed that we didn't get to enjoy Paris with Brackish and Erin as well as not getting enough information concerning the investigation into Damien. I know its sometimes hard to put everything into a book, but one can hope. Also, I thoroughly loved the paintball game between the guys and the Anderson family. I'm really looking forward to seeing where the story for Jasmine leads. That girl has some interesting adventures in her future.
Keep up the good work Melody. No matter what, I'll still keep reading and listening to your books!! ------No I'm off to read "Barriers".
I chose this rating because this was actually a pretty good book. I really enjoyed all of the characters. This was a book of compassion, kindness, protection, and overall just falling in love and doing a great job. I enjoyed Steve and Erin story. I think the author did a great job in putting these characters together. Great read! I recommend this book to all romance readers.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book by Melody. This is another great series. The characters are amazing and engaging. You cam help wanting to be part of the group. The paintball fight was awesome and I can't wait to see who falls in love next.
Could not stop laughing during this book. Although it was about Erin and Steve there was also points of view from the others and Joseph too. Loved the good news and I wonder what is going on with Damien but that is still to be discovered. I can’t wait for book 3.
At least this storyline didn't start out as gruesome as the first book😊! But it was a okay read and I can't wait to read the next book in this series.🤗
I have this 3.5 Stars, more so because of all of the Anderson's involved and the rest of the team. Brackish and Erin's story was good...It was the execution of the story that fell oddly short for me. There were problems throughout because at times it felt like there were chapters missing. There was also a whole lot of gaps in the story, that I, the reader, felt like I was owed better.... after investing hours in reading the story, i.e. the whole trip to Paris was practically a blur and non-existent, their time together when they returned we really did not witness Also, I had a real problem when Chad was disturbed with Eyes about realizing he knew Damien. He was pissed, then they never hashed this out at all. Either the download is missing context or the author was off this time around. I really wanted to rate this story higher, but sincerely I could not. I wanted to witness a full and complete story, not like this one that missed the mark for me. I would hope this author has beta readers or someone trusted to read it before it is published so that these things could be caught and brought to her attention. Don't get me wrong, I own every story this author has written and I have loved the Anderson's, but this was not up to par. That is unfortunate, I was looking forward to this one, but all these issues were confusing and disappointing. I hope the next story can redeem the series. All I can do is give my honest opinion and review.
Rising is the 2nd book in the Anderson Special Ops series and starts where Shadows left off.
With Joseph Anderson and Chad Reddington determined to find the men responsible for hurting his beloved Katherine, the Special Ops team are in place and starting to investigate with some interesting finds.
This book, along with the special ops mission, is about Steve Bregon (Brackish to this team) and Erin Savage, the owner of a local diner.
Like Shadows, you are hooked from the beginning, continuing to learn out the dynamics of the team, them bonding and of course the investigation funded by the Andersons.
Despite the instant attraction, Steve is denying his feelings for Erin, especially as she is the niece of one of the men he is investigating. When he makes a stupid judgement, of course matchmaker Joseph steps in to assist the pair in their path to love and happiness.
As with Shadows, there is still suspense, banter between the team, romance, miscommunication and twists & turns.
Can't wait to follow the mission in book 3, and see what Joseph has in store for the next team member he decides needs a little love and romance.
The series continues with the Special Ops team continuing to carry out their mission of purging Seattle of the drug cartel. Joseph Anderson is coping with the inability to fight a battle that he has no control over: Katherine's cancer. He may not be able to wipe away the cancer but he can and will support the Special Ops team in ridding his Seattle city of the evil that is attacking it and taking out those who harmed his Katherine.
Computer genius Steve Bregon, aka, Brackish has the assignment to become familiar with waitress Erin Savage who happens to be the niece of the head of the drug world his team is trying to destroy. Brackish tries to keep everything professional but finds himself falling for the waitress.
Brackish and Erin become close and take things to a new level. But a misunderstanding will put a strain on things.
But matchmaker Joseph will put his spin on things to get them back on track!
Rising picks up right where book one Shadows finished and Joseph Anderson needs to seek revenge on those who hurt the first love of his life Katherine. In book two we meet and get to know Steve Bregon better known as Brackish and Erin Savage, their story is a tale that will captivate you and draw you in from the first chapter and won’t let you go until you had read the final word, The team need to bond in order to infiltrate into the Seattle drugs cartel to get the answers Joseph desperately needs and that’s means going deep undercover but what happens when Brackish starts to have feelings for Erin, the niece of the man he needs to bring down to get closure for Joseph Anderson..... This is a story that still has Joseph meddling and matchmaking but this couple is one of his hardest matches yet, it’s a story full of danger, twists and turns but more importantly it’s a story full of love. Looking forward to the next instalment of the Anderson Special Ops series.
Brackish is a quirky mix of warrior and geek, he protective Alpha makes you feel safe but it is his adorably awkward geeky moments around Erin that steal your heart. Why fight it? He is amazing! Erin is sweet 95% of the time, but then her sass kicks in and she makes you proud. But she is scared to give her heart and end up disappointed and hurt...Brackish has work to do! As always another fantastic Anderson book - we expect nothing else now! There are more secrets, lies and webs of deceit being weaved, the guys are determined to bring them all down and make them pay for their crimes but there will be casualties along the way, some of whom are closer than anyone suspected!
First let me say - I love the Anderson’s. This series really can’t be a standalone since so many details are not revealed in each book. That isn’t a problem per se but it does (at least for me) to go back and reread previous book. I think it would be smarter to read them all after the series is completed...but obviously I’m not smart because I downloaded it once it was released. My only problem with this was the heroine, Erin. She ran from her problems and ghosted Steve when she was too prideful to admit she overreacted. Twice in this book she bolted and left Steve in a low place. Lately, the biggest surprise was Jasmine. I can’t wait to see how her story evolves.
I loved this book and couldn’t stop reading. Loved staying on edge. We’ve gotten to know Joseph Anderson so well as a matchmaker, but now he’s still on a quest to get revenge. I did cry in this book, really love feeling the emotions on how much Joseph and Katherine love each other. Loved how quickly Steve falls for Erin. They go through some rough patches and I love how Joseph has plans for them too. There’s also the possibility of a shocking betrayal. I think this is a three book series and I can’t wait to read the next one. There’s still three more single guys on their team, who’s the next to fall in love? I highly recommend this book.
The world of the Anderson’s, lol. I don’t even know where to start. Well when we last left off the team Chad at put together were five awesome men. One has already fallen in Love with a little help from the meddler Joseph Anderson. They are still working on mission of who assaulted Katherine. Now Katherine brain tumor was discovered and Joseph is driving everyone crazy and still meddling in his spare time. One of the men Brackish fall in love with Erin you owns the diner in town. Go on several dates have a big argument, leaving Brackish a hot mess and his team ready to kill him. Lol. Anyway a very enjoyable story especially if you love the Anderson’s. 😉
Another good book in this series Brackish the second member of the Anderson's Special Ops team to fall victim to love when he meets Erin whilst investigating her uncle. He falls quick and hard and these two very quickly move on to marriage. It's great to have Jacob and Katherine in the mix and follow what is happening in their lives too. We keep hearing about their eldest granddaughter she must have a place in these books somewhere we will have to wait and see. Would love to have more action going on for the reason this team was put together and not all about the romantic interludes.
This was another awesome book by Melody Anne. It was well thought out and put together in my opinion. I truly love the multiple story lines, all the characters and the way they were connected and portrayed. I love the romance between Brackish (Steve) and Erin. I also love that we got to see the continuation of Carl and Avery's love story from Book 1. I love the set up for a romance and possible love story for Sherman and Bobbi (Avery's mother). I enjoyed Joseph Anderson's meddling. I was glued to the book the entire time I was reading it. This is a must read!! Ruth
This was supposed to be about a black ops unit formed to rid the area of drugs and those who sell as payback for hurting Katherine Anderson. Its more of a giant matchmaking scheme for Joseph. Yes there is a unit but that action is far between the romance of Brackish/ Erin and Carl /Avery. Two weddings, Katherine’s surgery, Joseph playing matchmaker to Brackish and Erin. An under over FBI unit would be more appropriate. The black ops unit is too busy romancing to be a black ops. Glad its a KU but wont read anymore. Still dry and slow. Definitely false advertising the military aspect. So disappointed in this series.
Another great read and the next in the story line to fall under the spell of love. Steve (Brackish) and team went to a local diner to scope out the niece of a drug lord they are going to bring down. However, it appears Steve wants to scope out Erin for more than possible information. Erin is rather difficult to understand and get to know but that doesn't stop Steve from doing his job and getting to know the woman he feels a connection with. As Erin and Steve become closer, problems raise their ugly head both in the love life and work life of Steve until he doesn't know if he's coming or going and almost becomes a problem between the team.
Anderson Special Ops book 2. A great read. I really like this series. Brackish and Erin chance at love. I had a love hate thing with this book. I love the Anderson family and what they stand for. I love this Special Ops team. I didn't really like Erin. I tried to root for her But not happening. She had a whole woes me but I don't need anyone vibe and at the same time like me love me. I was over her crazy unexplainable choices. That being said I liked the storylines. This book was hella angsty and dramatic. Four stars cause I love most of the characters and this author
I love these guys and their competitiveness. So much fun to read. Steve is a fun living genius. Erin really for being smart just really needs to get her head in the game. The part that I did not like was how she was so wishy washy. If she was supposed to be so smart I would not have taken her to be that way. Joseph as usual is the best ever. Paintball wars was great! I loved having the whole family around. Keep on going Melody Anne and John Henley because these book are great to read.
This is Rising, book 2 of the Anderson Special Ops series written by Melody Anne and John Henley. I’m a long time fan of Melody Anne so it’s easy to start this new series with her and Mr Henley. Although this series is centered around a kick butt team of military men we still get glimpses of our beloved Anderson’s. Especially Katherine and Joseph. I seriously can not wait to see the next member of the team bite the marriage bullet! You know Joseph is a master manipulator! Let the games continue!!
