The main characters are teenagers, so at the beginning it might seem it`s a book for pre-teen and teens only, but if you take a look, you will quickly appreciate that it`s a book for any age. I’m 30 and I really enjoyed it.
I was a bit tired of the future dystopias for YA, that’s why I bought this book. The privileged world, is a world where the real and the supernatural live together; it reminds me of Harry Potter, as it is a parallel world, with its own laws, challenges, and terrible threats.
I like fantasy books that have a touch of reality and The Three Privileges is one of those types of books. The world of privileges, set in New York and the secret underground of the United Nations, is believable and it makes you wanna be part of the privileged society. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

The perfect book for a fantasy fan

Nahuel's monotonous life takes an unexpected turn when an agent from the United Nations can finally spot his hiding place at the edge of the world. The strange man summons him to become part of the prestigious Organization where he will study at it's headquarters for 12 months. Quite reluctantly, Nahuel's grandfather allows him to start the journey to New York, where he will discover his identity and what he's capable of. This is the beginning of a great and unique story full of adventure, magic, dangers and friendship to keep readers of all ages engaged. The characters will learn to develop their skills through individual and collective training. They will also be taught on International security, serums, movement and transportation, botanical and animal communication among other. They will get to realize the importance of á-bulas and talesmas, instrument with which the privileged can heighten their abilities and channel their energy. They will be put to the test during the Haznás, trials that will grow in complexity and which take place in several outdoor settings.
It's fresh and fun!!!

The Three Privileges takes us on a very attractive and impossible to put down story.

Here are three things I love about this book:

-The unique plot. The story has its own mythology, new and completely different superpowers, new dialact and different settings.

-The connection the characters have with nature, animals and plants. You don´t see this very often in a teens books. You cannot conceive humanity but as part of Nature. In The Three Privileges, energy flows among characters and other living organisms, bringing them all together in one unified being. This amidst action, twists of fate, tension, and double-faced characters.

-Privileges are superpowers but explained from natural frequencies and vibrations that all objects and beings in our planet have. This was what I loved the most. Privileges are a way to explain the legends of men and beasts and give them a common origin, by guiding us through this historical symbiosis between human beings and animals. What is more, through privileges, real phenomena, such as earthquakes or plagues, are explained.

I absolutely recommend it!

Brilliant Story and excellent plot!!

I thought this book was brilliant. I loved how A.V. Davina uses the connection humans have, or should have, with nature.
I loved the privileged society and how they are present in every major organization in history. The existence of this privileged society has been kept from the rest of humans since the beginning of history, through the influence of international organizations, such as the United Nations. But this time, the Council of Privileges is dramatically challenged by a group of rebels, called the Ignobles.
Nahuel, the protagonist, has to fight them and, on the way, figure out his true identity.
Also, the way it is written is very grabbing. The author gives perfect little descriptions without losing the attention of the reader.

It is a great book! It has a bit of everything: adventure, fun, mystery, friendship, drama...

I really liked it! It catches your attention right away. Some of the things I saw them coming, others not at all...Narrative is attractive and easy to follow.
The characters, they felt real to me and they matured through the book through the experiences they live which I appreciate.
Settings and battlefields are impeccably described. The authors seem to know New York or Milan very well. Or at least, they were thoroughly analysed.
My favorite chapters are when the Ignobles attack, this are the harshest, strongest and yet most exciting parts in the story. Privileged fighting is a new way for superpowers wars.
You can´t miss it!

Review: For the most part I enjoyed this book! The story was intriguing, the world building was done wonderfully well, and the writing was great! I read the book in about an hour and a half because it was so intriguing!

The only issue I had with the book is that the characters didn’t really connect with me. The characters weren’t developed that well in my opinion.

Verdict: It was a great book!

-book review-

When reading this book, I loved how the superpowers were original and interesting. The way A.V. Davina described the different types of superpowers were very informative, easy to follow and unique! I thought it was brilliant how the powers relate to nature through its vibrations and frequencies!

The character development between Nahuel and his group of friends is amazing! I always love a good book with character developments. Especially characters who are young and still figuring themselves out. Each character has their distinct personalities and to see them become stronger was a fun experience to read about.

From the beginning to the end of the book, I was engaged with the whole story along with the many plot twists that made me refuse to put the book down!
.

If you are looking for a urban fantasy novel with superpowers (which are highly original and interesting), good characters, a beautifully written plot and the idea of a secret organisation please check this book out! I enjoyed it very much!

I was really planning to read this book long back but now when I finally completed it, I am so surprised by the interesting plot and well-written storyline. I am a fantasy fan and I admit that I love characters who leave a mark in your heart and Nahuel is one of them. Nahuel is a teenager -the most wanted in the world- but he doesn’t know it, because his grandfather has managed to hide his true identity from him.

The United Nations Organization sends him an invitation that he cannot refuse. In the mysterious underground floor, Nahuel learns the power of privileges and its sacred connection to nature. Together with a group of young people from all over the world, he will be trained to discover and work his extraordinary skills, without knowing that he is a key player in an ancient, never-ending war.

For a reason, because of one thing in common, this story reminds me of the book "Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children", the only similary is that the protagonist's grandfather has a major role to play in both the books. The storyline has surprised me in all possible ways. I assumed it that it might be a bit complex or difficult to read at first but while reading it I realized that once you start it, you are going to go with the flow and not just that, I would say Davina is a master storyteller. The book is filled with dark fantasy elements and it will be a great choice for people who love fantasy.
.
.
People who don't want a heavy or dark - stronger plot might not like it as much. Again, characterization was well done, things weren't exaggerated and I truly enjoyed it. Just read it slow to enjoy it more. It's definitely recommended.

Actual rating 3.5 stars. Thank you to the authors for gifting me a copy of their book in exchange for an honest review.

The concept of this story was interesting and I was really intrigued by the plot. I felt myself constantly needing to read more to see what was going to happen next! The magic system was really cool and I really enjoyed that part of it. The story mostly takes place in NYC, so I didn’t really have to try to envision is very hard (since I basically live there), but there were definitely parts where the attention to detail was beautiful, like the lights in the tunnels and the forest at the estate.

I surprisingly had no attachment to any of the characters, which usually puts a damper on things for me, but it actually didn’t for this book. However the MC, Nahuel, annoyed me a lot of the time. With that being said, I understood why he was the way he was and his motives throughout the story (though he either did everything without thought or by throwing together a haphazard plan on the go which drove me crazy).

I honestly don’t even know if I have a favorite character, though I guess if I had to chose one it would be Aremi. She’s smart, loyal, and brave, but they do constantly talk about how small she is and how Nahuel feels the need to protect her because of that (us small people can be fierce too!). I do hope they continue on with what was beginning to be a little romance between the two of them in the next book though!

And that cliffhanger ending, ughhh! I am dying to know what Nahuel’s destiny is! I just KNEW something like this was going to happen!

(On a side note, the thing that really threw me off the most throughout the book was the issues with grammar and typos, which I felt could have been cleaned up more.)

First class originality!

Although at first there are mixed signals of other well-known books or films, like Xmen or Harry Potter, as the story unfolds, it grows in originality. It even has a mythology of its own. This is superbly refreshing, because everything is new.

What I like the most is the way the author found to explain the legends of men and beasts, this historical symbiosis between human beings and animals, and give them all a single origin, the Privileges.

This is a great story!

A great new magical world.
I highly recommend this book to young readers aged 11 to 17 and to adults who love reading Young Adult novels, like me.
The author has created a new “magic” world. Its original, complex, and most interesting. The privileged world brings together reality and fantasy. With new abilities and in the context of international organizations.
Its like falling in love with Harry Potter all over again, everyone (no matter the age) will fall in love with the privileged world.

English

The synopsis of the novel describes it as very similar to Percy Jackson, Harry Potter and other fantasy books and, after reading the novel I must say that the comparison is accurate: it does remind me of Percy. Nevertheless, it is original. It presents us the life of Nahuel, a teenager who lives in a small town in South America and, who suddenly, gets a call from the UN to be part of a scholarship. It is an opportunity he cannot refuse. I have enjoyed the book mainly because of three things:

1.- Nahuel reminds me of all those teenage protagonists who are too humble, too good, and somehow they touch us all. He reminds me of Percy because he tries to be a good friend and to do things right but he also is a little bit clumsy and finds himself in the middle of tricky situations. It is a well-written protagonist.

2.- There are plenty of characters which is a good thing because you would probably identify yourself with someone in the novel.

3.- Last but not least, the characters live a lot of adventures and there is a lot of magic in the book (as you expect from a fantasy book).

New type of superpowers in a new hidden world in New York
Super original story with new superpowers and a new mythology. The Privileges show the connection characters have with nature and animals and this is explained with science. It’s a world that mixes the real with the fantastic.
The best part is that privileges are a way to explain the legends of men and beasts and give them a common origin, by guiding us through this historical symbiosis between human beings and animals. Also, through privileges, real phenomena, such as earthquakes or plagues, are explained.
Just perfect!

I had a great time reading this YA book. It was filled with magic and mystery and animals. We discover that there are three kinds of abilities called Priviledges: CymAnis, the ability to affect animals, CymTer, the ability to control the earth, and CymMem, the ability to change microorganisms.
Nahuel is chosen amongst many other teenagers from around the world to attend a special school to learn how to control their particular skill.
There’s intrigue and danger, which Nahuel and his two friends, Isaline and Aremi, need to find out answers about. Nahuel has lots of questions about his strange family and especially his grandfather. Will he get any answers from either professors or the mysterious book the Foundations?
There were lots of cool magical creatures and high jinks at the school. It was a delightful read and hope the sequel publishes soon.

Special abilities and secret societies!!

The book has a bit of everything
-An exciting, good old-fashioned secret society with a super engaging background story, like the custodians hiding in international organizations.
-Fantastic settings, like the tunnels, the sequoia forest, and the council of privileges in the UN underground.
-The protagonist and his search for identity follows the hero´s path in an original way.
Go for it!

The three privileges is a story about Nahuel; he has so far lived quite an isolated life with just his family, but is suddenly invited to attend a special school, based under the UN building in New York, where he and his new friends learn that they actually possess one of three talents (privileges). These are either to be able to affect microorganisms, anything that comes from the earth, or animals. So part of this book is about the teenagers discovering their powers and about the ancient secret society who has kept their identity hidden from the wider world. There are however also other people searching for Nahuel and who want to use him and his powers in a different way…

I enjoyed this book, the privileges were a really interesting premise and I liked seeing the different ways in which people used their powers. I also enjoyed the friendships between the main characters, and how they supported each other. I would recommend to older middlegrade readers and up I think (as there are a few darker/scarier scenes). Fans of stories with magical schools or a ‘chosen one’ (and who doesn’t like those?!) would likely enjoy this:)

3.5 stars rounded up to 4.

Thank you to the authors for sending me a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

Spelling/grammar mistakes, sudden name drops, abrupt character introductions, and other little writing tics make it clear this was indie-published. For that reason, I don't want to be too harsh in my review. I think the characters all had distinct personality traits, and the concept of the privileges and the underground world in NYC were very interesting. It read sort of like a cross between Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, and The Explorer Academy.

That being said, I think the book has a lot to improve on in terms of making the plot clearer and more unique to the world, strengthening the characters' motivations, and adding more nuance to the story by showing a lot of its detail rather than telling.

This one is the winner! I read four fantasy books this summer and this one was the best. It was quite reminiscent of the Harry Potter Series with its school setting. I particularly liked the environmental focus of the Privileges.

The writing/editing was a bit rough at times. It seemed that English was not the first language of the authors, as some of the sentence constructions and word usage were a little awkward. However, if this is ignored, it's actually pretty easy to get lost in the story. It's a good one!

As usual, my teeth were on edge every time the teen angst reared its ugly head. Nahuel needs some anger control counseling. That kid has no chill and no impulse control. Again, if this can be ignored, this is a pretty good read.

I DNF’ed this book.. I don’t know how it’s received such positive reviews. But to be fair, I’m not the target audience, and that fault is in me for thinking I was. That’s ok.

The plot is flat, characters have personality but it feels.. half baked you know? Didn’t notice any spelling mistakes etc cuz I don’t notice those, everyone makes those, even such authors as Paolini and G.R.R Martin. But this book fell flat imo.
