New from USA Today bestselling author Linzi Baxter, the first book in her exciting new romantic suspense series, Nova Satellite Security, a spinoff of her popular White Hat Security series.
-----
Lily didn’t take much with her when she fled an abusive marriage. Just her young son and a load emotional baggage no one can see. Thanks to her friend Kat, she’s got a new job in a new town, a new life spread out before her.

The last thing she needs is her long-dormant hormones noticing that her boss is a 12 out of 10 on the hotness scale.

Freedom is just a signature away, but Jacob’s ex is holding the unsigned divorce papers over his head like a prize just out of reach. His irritation eases when he meets his new secretary, and he finds it’s no hardship to follow his friend Kat’s advice (or not-so-subtle threat) to treat Lily gently.

Under Jacob’s care and consideration, Lily begins to believe in love again. But when her past tries to claw her back into a nightmare, she has no choice but to protect Jacob at all costs—even if it shatters her heart.

I had forgotten how bad her books are! Really not worth it!

Okay, where do I start?

Lily and her son are on the run from her ex, who was abusive to them both. Her friend Kat, who volunteers at the shelter, sets her up with a job, (cash in hand.) an apartment fully stocked with clothes and food. Yeah ok… Lily goes to work for Jacob, who is a billionaire, and he instantly wants her, as she is stunningly beautiful and brave, yawn. Jacob has a psychotic ex wife who doesn’t want him to let him go. So Lily is attacked outside the building and attacked outside the building. Yeah all those security measures that she has and she’s on her own a lot! She runs off as she decides she’s not safe with Jacob.

So. Kat is an assassin? 😂 Who kills peoples abusive husbands? Kat is married to a security expert who watches his eight months pregnant wife (on a video) feeding a body to her alligators. I kid you not!!! OH COME ON!!!!
Jacob is a billionaire who never seems to work, Lily is super amazing at a job she’s never done, she’s such a super mum that she moves her and her son into Jacobs house after her first attack, hmm yeah that would happen! And please don’t get me started on the sex.

This book is terrible!!! I love Cinderella type romances, but they have to be realistic and this isn’t!

A wonderful spin off to WHITE HAT series!!!

Yet another genius, suspense filled series from the great Linzi Baxter! This gem is a spin off from the exciting White Hat series. We see appearances from both Kat and her beloved Antonio in this. Lily and Tommy are a mother and son that Kat befriended at the women's shelter. Running from an extremely abusive ex husband, Kat made preparations for them to be safe at a friend's company. Jacob and his two brothers run a billion dollar company and have no problem helping Lily out. Of course it wouldn't be a Linzi Baxter book of everything either out right away. Numerous kidnapping attempts and attacks, yet thanks to an intriguing cast of characters and people from both Lily and Jacob's pasts nobody is quite sure who is behind it all. Can Lily trust her son and herself with how her heart feels? Can they find who is behind all this mayhem? Can she and her little boy finally feel safe? There are lots of ups and downs as well as sweet moments all throughout. I for one am hoping the next few books are about Jacob's brothers 😁. I can't wait to see what happens next. No matter what, I've no doubt it will entail a strong female with a huge heart!

It wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t great either 😬. There’s just way too much going on in this book and not enough pages to explain it all. I wish there was a lot more character development, plot development, and description, and maybe like 1 or 2 less villains. It just seemed like the author kept piling on more and more threats and it left no room for anything to be fleshed out and given life. It made the whole story feel very 2 dimensional unfortunately.

There were a few plot holes and inconsistencies throughout that had me thinking maybe I missed something. Just weird moments where a character is told something but 2 paragraphs later doesn’t know about it. And I’ve never read this author before, but after a few pages in I am guessing this series is a spin-off because there is a lot of reference to the character Kat who is mostly the ‘off screen phone a friend’, but guess is the link to the other series. The references to her being a trigger happy vigilante assassin who loves killing people and everyone knows it is just SO WEIRD when you don’t know the character or her backstory. As an outsider looking in I thought it was just really strange the way she acted like Assassin Barbie when she say things like “Antonio won’t let me kill people anymore *pouts*” like she was cute about murder🤪? Glad to know her assassin work hasn’t taken a toll on her psyche I guess????

Anywayyyyy I won’t be continuing with the series. The story itself is usually my favorite tropes it was just not immersive or engrossing. Too much telling and not enough showing.

DNF. Didn’t actually even start this book. A few pages in I learned that our heroine was being saved by her friend Kat who was an retired CIA assassin and volunteer at a women’s shelter. Kat murdered men who abused their wives and fed them to her alligator. OK. The storyline was a little far-fetched and while I know I’m supposed to suspend disbelief I’m not gonna enjoy a book that I think is a joke.

Kat may very well have been a CIA assassin but she wouldn’t confide that information to a victim she met at a women’s shelter. And she wouldn’t be murdering men and feeding them to alligators. The book is a work of fiction but if the story is going to stand up it needs to make sense.

This has such potential

50% into the book and female main character is attacked 2x. You know she had a crazy ex so why don’t you meet her inside the bio or even at the door of her apt for a date

Male main character has a crazy ex wife who keeps calling him. Block her number. She shows up at the office with a gun. 1 why was she allowed in the building 2. Put her ass in jail after rehab but no. She comes to a meeting at your house (again why was she allowed up) with a gun and finally that’s when you decide to press charges

Her son is 6 they said. Why is he in. Pre-k( FMC is 25. Had kid at 18 so 6 or 7)

OK so not the best but not the worst either. I really could of done with some more back story of both Lily and Jacob. I know there were parts in the book where they went into some details but to me it didn't seem enough for me to really connect with them.

I really felt that the book seemed to move on at a really fast pace. The relationship between both h and H was seriously fast paced one minute she's starting a job as his secretary then next she's his date to a gala and they are together it just moved too quick for me. (But that's just my opinion)

I found h a little annoying to be honest with her keep running away from her problems. Don't get me wrong I understand her running from her abusive ex. But she had a whole load of people protecting her and she just kept running. And with Jacobs crazy ex I really hoped she wouldn't of let her scare he away and fought for him and stood her ground if she wanted to be with him as much as the book made out she did.

I really couldn't understand that she was supposed to be protected by the security company and all these people but yet crazy ex's and kidnappers were able to get so close to her all the time and every other chapter she seemed to be in harms way again. She was shot at, cut with glass, nearly broke a leg and just seemed to be hurt not once but multiple times and no one seems to see if she was OK or seemed to really give it a second thought to me that just seemed like it didn't matter

Now don't get me wrong the story line was good but some things seemed a little far fetched but I could see where the authorwas going with it. It seemed too much was going on all the time and couldn't focused on Jacobs and Lily's relationship abit more instead of rushing through it.

This my first book by this author and I'm a little apprehensive about the rest of the series but will give them a try

I don’t understand the 5 star reviews.

This book is not well written. There are a lot of editing errors, timeline inconsistencies and plot holes. There is one sex scene (past 70% mark, not counting the “blink and you’ll miss it” one in the epilogue) in the book that is quick and also needed a lot of work.

My biggest issue was the complete lack of “security” for Lilly. She had a bodyguard that was never with her. She lived in two buildings with a lobby and someone manning a desk yet she decided to wait outside for Jacob and Tommy, and she was attacked each time. The culprit(s) behind the attacks made no sense and the red herring thrown in was just weird.

I rarely give 1 star reviews; usually reserved for books that I do not finish. And it takes a lot for me not to finish a book. This book is a spin-off of another series and there are at least 5 more books in this series. I have no plans to continue with this author’s work.

What's not to love - I mean something for everyone in this story, murder, abuse, independence & love!

Jacob & his brothers what can we say - impressive and book boyfriends indeed. The charities they support The psycho ex & threats to family push him harder. Lily was a survivor she had no love but gave her son Jacob everything. She running from an ex that wants her dead & and a friend that pushing her to fight for herself. The fast pace & suspense will hook you & the need to know fairytale or fatal end will keep you reading til the last page - well written. I fell for this from a Facebook ad. I should have known better!
Subpar writing, tons of holes in story, some errors, but the worst was the feeling of the author lacking the connection for a story like this. It felt like she gathered bits of other stories and just vomited them out to form this book. Oh, her mom and dad were horrible. Oh she ended up with an abusive man, oh she is gorgeous, oh she takes self defense classes but she gets smacked down becoming a damsel time after time after time. Lets add having her son to this mix.
There were so many disconnects and lack of flow that I finished reading just so I can write this review.
If you’re interested in a truly moving book that shows you the truth of domestic violence, read Unbreak Me by Reese Rivers.

Could have been better

This was just an okay read for me . I didn’t feel the chemistry between the main characters and he handled her with kid gloves the entire book. For all the security that this woman had she got attacked over and over and it wasn’t always clear to me if the attacks were sent by the hero’s ex-wife or her ex-husband . I would have liked to see more action from the security guys . Usually single , abused mother is my jam but this one just didn’t work for me .

I received a free copy of the full length novel Pursuing Phoenix: Nova Satellite Security, Book 1 by Linzi Baxter and this review was given freely. A good introduction to the series and the Black brother. Suspenseful with multiple romances, wonderful character and danger around every corner but ends happily. This is the story of two strong people surviving physically and emotionally abusive relationships to find love, hope and healing in each other. Emotional with some violence this is a crossover novel featuring the Ross's and Neal from White hat Security in Florida. Former assassin Kat, her husband Antonio Ross and bodyguard Abe assist recently relocated single mother Lily and her son Tommy after her abusive ex Greg gets out of prison. However just as Lily starts to feel safe in Texas, she finds herself fighting more than her attraction to her soon to be divorced boss Jacob Black at Nova Satellite Security.

loved it!

What is it about single mom books?! I love it when the hero treats her like a queen and her children like they are his very own. In a perfect world, that’s how it should be. In this book, Lily is trying to get away from her abusive ex while Jacob is trying to get out of a marriage of convenience. What Jacob doesn’t know is that is soon to be ex-wife has gone around the bend using drugs and is not going to let him go so easily. Now Lily faces danger on two fronts and keeping her and her sweet son safe is going to be harder than ever.

loved it

Lily can’t seem to catch a break, she and her son are in hiding from her violent and abusive ex husband. The day before she starts at her new job and her new life in Houston she finds out her ex was released due to mishandled evidence. Jacob, Lily’s new boss is determined to keep her safe and is driven to finally finalize his divorce which his ex was dragging out for years already. Lily lives in constant fear that her ex will find them, but Jacob’s ex proves to be a much more determined, deranged and dangerous foe.

Hmm not sure

While I liked the story line I was confused often. Perfect example, female lead is running from abusive ex. Male leads ex repeatedly tried to attack her and him. Female lead also repeatedly gets attacked every time she is alone, due to shitty protection detail. Male lead is hurt she doesn't believe he can protect her. Yeah, I'm with her. I thought they did a shit job protecting her too.

Pursuing Phoenix

Absolutely loved this story. Lily is the female lead and she was first introduced in White Hat Security series. Jacob Black is our leading male and he is sweet, sexy. This story is fast pace with great characters, laugh out loud banter and ahh moments. I personally can't wait for Jared's character. We still have to meet Jax the third Black brother. Overall a good story and I loved that Kat made numerous appearances. Happy Reading!!

Drama & Angst

Pursuing Phoenix is Lily &, Jacob's story, it is full of drama, angst, attraction, friendship and love. Lily and her 6 year son Tommy are on the run from her ex-husband, with friends help she end up working for Jacob. Jacob got his share of challenges as well with his ex-wife. I really enjoyed the story until the last 1/4, I felt like a couple of chapters where missing.

4 stars for Pursuing Phoenix by Linzi Baxter. This is book one in the Nova Satellite Security series, Lily and her son have fled her abusive marriage and are now being protected by Jacob. Lily and Jacob are drawn to each other. Unfortunately Jacob has a psycho ex also. I was captivated from start to finish. I love these two together. They are on an emotional but heartfelt rollercoaster. It was an intense read and I enjoyed every minute of it.

Jacob and Lily

Loved this one! This book features Jacob, one of the Black brothers and co owner of Nova Satellite Security, and Lily, who was rescued by alligator lover Kat from the White Hat series. I quickly fell for Jacob and was cheering him on as he fought for Lily. There is action, suspense, two nasty exes, a cute kid, 2 feisty bffs, 2 amusing brothers and some steamy scenes.

Not sure

Wasn't sure about this one, for one thing....why wasn't Jacobs Wifes name listed a single time on this book? Was always blank or skipped over so I pretty much never found out her name...very strange was it just my copy? . That for me distracted me from the actual storyline unfortunately

What's with the no name!

I think this would be a great book except that every time they talk about the ex wife there is no name. What the heck! It's really hard to read when there isn't a name or it has this, ' s, for the name. For Pete sake pick a name and update the book please!!!!!!!

I thought this was a great start to the nova security series. Nova security is run by 3 brothers- Jared, Jacob and Jax. This novel is about Jared who hires
Lily as his assistant. Lily and her son are running from her ex-husband, Jared has a crazy ex wife and there are a ton of meddling secondary characters that keep this story moving. I love Jared and can’t wait to read his book!

Good enough

This is the start of a series. And I’ll read the next book after finishing this one.
The plot is a bit over the top. Both Lily and Jacob have crazy exes. Hers was physically abusive. And his is drugged addled and violent.
Lily has a lot of protection, yet she is repeatedly attacked. There’s a lot of that in the story. Kind of silly.

It didn’t really take me 3 months to actually read the book. I started it in September and just couldn’t get into it. Picked it back up today and finished it.
The characters were likable enough. Nothing really stood out about them. The main female character had a rough past but great support. She would go to the ends of the earth for her kid.
Not a bad book but probably wouldn’t reread.

Great story with great characters. As Lily settles in to a new life thanks to her friend Kat, Jacob thinks she is gorgeous. Like has left a bad situation and fears her ex will come for her and her Tommy. Meanwhile Jacob's wife dosen't want to be an ex. When danger threatened her son, Lily goes on the run off the grid.

This is a very good book.

This series is going to be good since this one was good. Lily & her son are the main characters & it is about keeping her son safe from his abusive father. This is a good book & worth your time to read.
