After growing up with a free-thinking and unreliable mother, Sara Reed wanted nothing more than a normal life. As a forensic accountant for the IRS, Sara got the stability she’d always craved.
Then a case came across her desk that shattered the calmness of her world and implicated those at the highest levels of the US intelligence agencies. Despite multiple warnings to stop her investigation, Sara was determined to do what was right.
After being rescued from the belly of an alien slave ship, Sara was mourning the loss of her life and all semblance of normalcy when she was thrust onto a strange world, in the middle of an intergalactic war.
The Commander of the Forchanian forces, Drek Zarken, had no time for a personal life, and he liked it that way. Then a new citizen was recruited to work with his team to break the Consortium’s financial crime network.
While Sara and Drek become closer, spies and infiltrators threaten their lives and the deep connection they’re forming. Drek will have to employ every tactic he knows to keep Sara alive and destroy the hold the Consortium had on his planet.
Love this premise and love the world she built but I did struggle with what felt like incongruity from the main character. Super fond of Dar. He has been my favorite in all three of this series. My favorite of this series is the original Bria. As for this one the main character was suspicious and secretive and at times not very smart for such a smart lady. Overall though this book held my attention and certainly kept me involved enough to look forward to the next one.
Love everything from this author, I have been fully invested and engaged in her other series for many years...just started a few months ago with this series and it is fantastic- wonderful world building and interesting characters...truly cannot recommend highly enough...eagerly awaiting book 4 coming in October!
Has any other heroine undergone so much?!! No matter how many times Sara gets knocked down, she gets right back up, swinging! However, it is so heartwarming to see an Autistic main character who is celebrated, not in spite of Autism, but because of it! Imagine! A whole planet where you have to be Autistic to live there!
Loved this book! Likable and believable characters with a fast paced story line. Plenty of action in and around main characters. Looking forward to the next release in this series.
I liked Sara (book 3) much more than Gabriel (book 2). The world building is excellent, the characters are interesting, and the story is engrossing. Drek's parents are hilarious.
