Take two squirrels who are disappointed over burnt pancakes and show them a donut truck. Who can blame them when the aromas from the truck entice them into cooking up a plan to get some. The truck owner turns down their offer to pay him with sweet chestnuts, so they figure out a plan to get inside and recruit little Bee to provide a getaway vehicle (it turns out to be a roller skate). This is a cute caper with some unexpected results. Looking forward to the next adventure: 'Apple of My Pie.'

Donut Feed the Squirrels is a cute graphic novel about two hungry squirrels who want to eat the donuts made in a little trailer. They try to buy them with nuts after seeing humans buy them. When that doesn't work, the squirrels band with other squirrels and steal the donuts. However, the donut vendor discovers that the nuts make his donuts more delicious, so he leaves a reward for them.
This book is cute, but, when I was reading about the raid, I kept picturing the people going into stores in big cities and stealing whatever they wanted and the owners being unable to do anything about it. The message of the story seems to be that if the owner is not a nice guy and you can't get what you want any other way, stealing is justifiable. I would not want my younger grandchildren reading this book or thinking like the main characters.
This book is cute, but, when I was reading about the raid, I kept picturing the people going into stores in big cities and stealing whatever they wanted and the owners being unable to do anything about it. I loved the art, the spunky personalities and then there was a food truck. Just stop it - too cute!

Very cute. My clients enjoyed the silliness the characters get into to get a donut. Will definitely consider checking out the sequel for them. Personally not my favorite graphic novel but still a nice way to spend time with kids.

This is such a wonderful book. I mean, one of the characters is named Belly. Need I say more? In case I do, the writing is funny, the art supports it perfectly, and I loved everything about this book.

Donut Feed The Squirrels is an incredibly charming, cute, and hilarious graphic novel about two squirrels who plan a heist to get some delicious donuts! One of the funniest graphic novels I've read in a while, its very sweet!
While what drew me to this graphic novel originally was the artwork, I'm glad I went into this book without knowing too much, it made the reading experience that much more special.
Norma and Belly are two squirrels who live in a park going about their average day! But, when a pancake breakfast doesn't go as planned they set their sights on some delicious donuts from a food truck instead. But the problem is, the cranky donut seller is keeping them away. So their only option? Plan a HEIST of course! With the help of a couple of squirrels called Gramps and Little Bee, they plan the donut heist of the century (with only 8 minutes).
Alright so the humor in this is really my kind of humor, its situational, witty, also just incredibly clever and fun to read: When the turn into floofs after trying to get donuts on their first try, Norma thinking Belly turned into a donut and lots more little moments!
There's a a soft, graceful art style that shines through the natural color palette like greens, browns, etc. What adds another layer to the soft, comforting quality of this story is through vivid ink, watercolor, and sumi brush tools for the artwork.
Probably leaving this at a 4.5 because I truly wanted more from this first installment with the fact that it was just too much fun and very CUTE! I loved the dynamics between the characters, the humor especially and seeing the adorable story come to life through the art style. This book was EVERYTHING I needed right now, I love it so much!!

My five year old's review: Silly Squirrels. You could have just ask the guy for a donut.
Me: But they're squirrels baby, the guy doesn't understand them.
Her: Oh...yeah...but it wasn't nice to mess up his truck.

December 9, 2020This is a cute, funny graphic novel about a pair of squirrels who discover a new donut truck has parked nearby and they are desperate to try the fried dough. After trying to purchase donuts in exchange for sweet chestnuts, they are swiftly rebuked and must break in to the food truck. Once inside, they have an idea to improve the donuts (add nuts), which accidentally causes the donut machine to malfunction.
Don't read on an empty stomach (if you are a fan of donuts)! I loved the cute squirrel characters in this adorable graphic novel. Not only the character duo of main squirrels Norma and Belly, but the elderly Gramps and all their friends. I think fans of Narwhal and Jelly would enjoy this series starter.

A sweet and easy chapter book for early readers and it’s a graphic novel. Norma and a Belly are best friends, but when Norma burns their pancakes, they go out to search for food. Read this with your students and be sure and include some yummy donuts.

This is a fantastic little book. Not only is it a great story with fun illustrations, it is also the first book that my kindergarten-age child read aloud all the way through by themselves.

This was cute! At the bakery I used to work at, they would give the misshaped donuts to the squirrels outside. The squirrels in this book had a lot more fun getting their donuts.

It’s time for a cunning plan that will need bravery, dexterity, cooking skills and a getaway car! They leave a real mess behind, but also one great idea that inspires a new donut flavor: sweet chestnut.
This graphic novel for elementary-aged readers is a real treat! The entire story is told in dialogue that is minimal and full of silliness. This creates a fast read, speedy and racing ahead of the reader, keeping on great pun in front. The book is full of squirrel ingenuity too and a sense that great ideas can come from anywhere, as well as a skilled getaway driver.

Just adorable. Norma and Belly are the cutest little squirrels staging an elaborate heist to get donuts from the new food truck in the neighborhood. The plot is simple but fun and the art style is very cute.

If you like the idea of an all-squirrel heist movie involving donuts, this book is for you. I was really in awe of how much expression is readable on the squirrels' faces with so few lines and details. This book is quietly lovely, and I adored the style of the art, as well as the gentle humor.
