I’m Ivy Giacometti, a nightclub singer from New York, but tonight, I’m masquerading as Miss Black. I’m visiting my friend Tessa who lives in New Orleans and we’ve just been busted for gate-crashing a masked party after Tessa pretends to know Countess Montgomery, the mysterious hostess.
A charming and devilishly attractive stranger saves us from humiliation and ushers us inside, and it soon becomes clear that this is not the kind of party I was expecting. Things are getting heated and the atmosphere is unconventional to say the least, but so is my hostess, the Phantom, who drives me to my limits in a private room upstairs.
When identities are hidden, nothing is what it seems, and only time will reveal what lies beneath when the mask finally drops…
What you should do before cracking this one open: settle in somewhere cozy, find a throw blanket, keep the lights low, wear some loose clothing, and I figure a few fingers of bourbon would be appropriate, considering the NOLA scenery. Dive in and I mean diiiiive iiiinnnn. You will get a little hot under the collar but embrace it, ladies. EMBRACE YOURSELVES.
What you should NOT do: Don't start reading the first few chapters to pass time before a Zoom hangout with your young nieces/nephews where you are to help build a solar system and rocket launcher. YOU WILL BE SO DISTRACTED. You will lose words, you will have a hard time concentrating after the highly descriptive mouth watering bang that this book gets off to. Not a good combination.
4.5 * – A good debut novel could be a one-time wonder. When the second novel is of the same quality, you start thinking, this author could become a must-read. By the third book, you know. Madeleine Taylor just entered that category.
Ivy Giacometti, a nightclub singer from New York, is in New Orleans visiting her best friend Tessa. In an effort to show Ivy what her new city has to offer, Tessa takes her to a women-only masked party. When it turns out they weren’t exactly invited, Ivy is irritated but her annoyance doesn’t last long as a mysterious woman claims them as her guests. A night of delight and discovery begins for Ivy…
It only takes Taylor a couple of sentences to envelop the reader in the exciting and intriguing atmosphere of Countess Montgomery’s unusual party. The trance-like ambiance is tangible and Ivy’s keen anticipation is contagious.
With Masquerade, Madeleine Taylor gives readers what we have come to expect: a hot fling between two gorgeous and lovely women – one more experienced than the other, both willing to push boundaries – that turns into romance, much to their surprise. There’s no real angst, the tiniest conflict and the only real mystery is how many orgasms the heroine will get in a single night and the path the characters will take to realise they want more than that one night.
As with The Good Girl and Online , Madeleine Taylor gets the job done with effective writing, sexy characters and steamy sex scenes. Masquerade is hot, fun and exciting in many ways. The audiobook version should be thrilling too.
I received a copy from the publisher and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
This third book of erotica by Madeleine Taylor is exactly what you want it to be - deliciously steamy, sexually adventurous and completely consensual. Of the three published by Lise Gold Books so far - Good Girl, Online and Masquerade, I'd rank this my second favorite, with Good Girl being at the top. All three have light BDSM and this one features a mysterious, gorgeous butch and a stunning Italian-American femme who meet at a masquerade party in New Orleans. Though I usually gravitate toward stories with femme/femme characters, I found this quite appealing. At just $2.99 USD for the Kindle version, it's a no-brainer to pick these up. That said - the covers of all three books are works of art so I need to have them in paperback as well. This is the third winner in a row from Taylor and I can't wait to see what's next!
Erotic novella with great chemistry once again. I’m hooked. These encounters, it is just not a stretch to see them progress into real relationships. Swoon.
Madeleine Taylor's work is what I like to call polished, high-end erotic romance and I'm absolutely here for it. I loved this in written form and narrator Tessa Stavers brings it to life beautifully as she did with the first two books. What a great idea having two MCs meet at a women-only masquerade ball at a mansion in New Orleans! When New York nightclub singer Ivy Giacometti visits her best friend Tessa in the exciting city, she takes Ivy to an invitation-only event where a password is required to enter. There, Ivy meets a striking woman who calls herself "The Phantom" and she soon realizes there's much more to this gathering than meets the eye. What occurs overnight is the stuff of fantasies - for Ivy and Tessa both. I don't listen to a lot of erotica but really enjoy it when well done. And this is certainly that. This and the first of the three Taylor books The Good Girl were especially hot and I understand Taylor is working on a fourth. There is some light BDSM but nothing occurs that would be outside most people's comfort zone. It's all very consensual and eye opening for Ivy, who has not experienced the kind of intimacy this intriguing woman is offering. If you're not familiar with erotic romances or are a fan but haven't discovered Taylor yet, this is a great place to start! Another draw of these books is the eye-catching packaging and marketing artwork. Fantastic - I must have them all on my bookshelves! Lise Gold Books doesn't scrimp on quality or content. Recommend!
Setting: New Orleans and New York, USA. When nightclub singer Ivy travels to New Orleans to meet up with best friend, Tessa, she is surprised at how quickly Tessa has settled in when she goes with her to a 'ladies only and invitation only' masked party at the impressive home of the Duchess of Montgomery - but is less surprised when stopped by security as Tessa doesn't know the password associated with the invitation, as Tessa has done this to her before! But before they are shown the door, a masked stranger calling herself The Phantom vouches for Ivy and Tessa and gets them admitted to the party - where Ivy and The Phantom find an immediate sexual chemistry. Following some interesting bedroom scenes at the party, Ivy and The Phantom continue to meet and develop both a romance and their sexual attraction for each other. But at some point Ivy must return to her home and work in New York - can their new relationship survive or was it just fun while it lasted?.... This was a good read although somewhat predictable. The characters were well-drawn and the sexual scenes, which included elements of mild BDSM, were well-written and not laboured. The author certainly is able to encourage the reader to root for the characters, as I found myself doing. It was only the fairly predictable outcome that reduced the rating for me - 7/10.
“Just don’t forget my name, okay? I want you to remember me as Ivy.”
3.5 stars. Erotic f/f romance that takes places in New Orleans, during and after a sexy masquerade ball. What I appreciate about Taylor's erotic romances is that she puts equal emphasis on the sex and the romance, and even though this was pretty short, it was such a lovely story, and by the end, I was really rooting for the couple. Ivy goes to a masquerade ball while visiting her best friend in New Orleans, and meets a handsome, masked woman with whom she shares an incredible night. When the night is over, they're both still drawn to one another, and continue to spend time together, get to know each other, as well as each other's secrets. The conflict was super overblown and the fact that it was resolved so easily somehow made me even more annoyed, but that annoyance didn't last for long. This was just a really fun, super steamy read.
I’ve enjoyed all 3 of Madeleine Taylor’s novels. I love that they’re hot and steamy and short. :)
Masquerade is told from Ivy’s POV - a nightclub singer who’s visiting her friend Tessa in New Orleans. After crashing a masquerade ball held by the mysterious Countess Montgomery, Ivy meets and is immediately seduced by handsome Kameron. Their whirlwind love affair is explored in juicy detail and you can’t help but hope for a HEA for these two.
What I find odd in this and the other Taylor books (The Good Girl and Online) is how easy it is for the main character to fall into bed with the person they’ve just literally met even though they proclaim to not be that “type” of person? Or am I just living a sheltered life over here? Lol
At any rate, it was a lot of fun and I can’t wait for the next novel!
Ms. Taylor serves up another steamy erotic ff encounter that sparks romance between sweet and engaging dom/sub leads. As in her other novellas (The Good Girl, Online, and Santa's Favorite--all 5 stars from me), we get enjoyable leads coming from different backgrounds and lifestyles, whose paths cross and lives are altered. Fantasy feeling real... or maybe that's just my wishful thinking ;).
I'm off to check out Ms. Taylor's main author name, Lise Gold.
Ivy learned how to let go and trust her Phantom lover at the masquerade party. Kameron wears more than a mask to hide her true self but her growing attraction to Ivy makes her want to come clean about who she is. Their sexual energy is amazing and hot I love the narrator Tessa. She does a fantastic job with Madeleine’s stories
Honestly, Madeline Taylor is my new favourite erotica author. I crave her new works and get excited when Lise Gold starts to market them.
This book is my new favourite. I’ve thought a bit about how to review this book without giving away any spoilers because it’s the best read when you can sink in.
What I will say is that Madeline Taylor excels in writing a tangled web of romance, erotica and intrigue. With little to no angst and nothing but steaming chemistry, you are in for the ride of your life. It’s delicious and shouldn’t be missed.
The chemistry between both Ivy and the sexy stranger is so hot I was worried the bedsheets would alight. I wouldn’t read this outside of your house.
I must say that the build-up of romance in this book is also very powerful, and I probably loved it just as much as the erotic scenes.
I’m intrigued and more than a little excited about where Madeline Taylor will venture next… As long as it’s as passionate as Masquerade, I’ll be first in line.
The setting was great. Meeting a stranger at a masquerade party indeed contains all the element needed to set a sexy mood. But post party bang, it feels to me like something is missing. Maybe the MCs did not draw me in enough. I felt like the only thing interesting to me about MC 1 is that
Also, I did not get the "dark moment" plot point in the story.
Crashing a party with her best friend, Ivy is in for a surprise. Getting caught at the gate, Kameron helps her into the party by stating Ivy and Tessa are her guests. The attraction between Kameron and Ivy is instantaneous and chemistry is skyrocketing. Hot and steamy scenes. Kameron has a secret that Ivy finds out by accident. I have enjoyed all of Madeleine Taylor's books and look forward to more.
A twist or change from what I've previously read by Madeleine Taylor. The story is not only erotic but with a strong storyline which made me enjoy it more.
This is set in New Orleans and made me long for pre-covid traveling. Ivy is visiting her friend and the two are on their way to an invite only party.
Extremely polished erotica that leans more towards romance by the end, which is not a knock. Here, the conflict rides on a "miscommunication" that I admit I was a bit puzzled that the lead took as big a deal of as she did. Regardless, the chemistry on display is sizzling and riveting from the very beginning when a party Ivy is crashing with her best friend in New Orleans turns out to be an orgy.
This is a steamy one 🔥 It starts off with a bang. Gate crashing a masquerade ladies only party that turns into a night of indulgence. The night turns into the weekend and it’s hot! The spice slows down to focus on the emotional side of their budding relationship and the book ends on a very sweet note.
Loved it!! 🌶🔥 this book will just keep you turning pages! Funny, romantic and spicy, definitely a light reading. Madeleine did it again but this time waaay better, she was great now she is amazing!
I anticipated a sexy, steamy erotica, but instead, I got a mouthful of sugary sweet. I enjoyed the cute story, but it didn't have me writhing in pleasure, gripping the sheets, shouting out expletives like the character's were. Masquerade started off strong as we met protagonist, Ivy and her bestie, Tessa, as they headed to crash a masked party. The moment we met "The Phantom" the sexual energy between Ivy and Phantom was palpable. It was no mystery that Ivy and Tessa had crashed a sex party, but to Ivy, it flew right over her head having not been exposed to anything outside vanilla. Taylor did a wonderful job at creating an entire evening of eroticism and unapologetic sex amongst the large crowd of women attending, including between Ivy and her mysterious, handsome courtesan. However much the tension and mystifying events were well written, I found the story lost steam as soon as the lights were lifted, the fog dissipated, and the masked faces were revealed. I'd hoped Phantom would have been more complex and I held hope in my heart that she was more than met the eye, and as much as she was, it just didn't wow me. The intimacy between both women was sweet and passionate, and their growing devotion toward one another was, yes, sweet.
Not exactly an erotica that shook the Richter scale, but nice altogether.
I like this new autor a lot. The writing style is great (in 1st person POV, which I prefer) the dialogues are amazing and the main characters are always sweet and you can just feel the chemistry and connection between them comming out of the pages. One of the characters is more innocent, other one is sleeping around A LOT (sadly a theme I read in most of the lesbian fiction these days :-/ ) but it wasn't an issue here, it was just mentioned. Even though I liked this book it was not my favourite, mainly becouse I am not a big fan of BDSM and power play (tho it was pretty light in this book) I don't seek books where anyone needs to be tied up, punished or spanked raw with riding crops atc. I like it better when there is equal give and take between the MC's. But this review is based on my personal preferences so I am sure it will ticke fancy many of you out there. It's a light read, sweet erotica with likable characters, great dialogues and HEA, what more do you want :D I definately recomend it.
Wow! What a great Masquerade! The third book can actually top! I'm a big fan of Madeleine Taylor and her extremely hot, seductive stories with personable and really well-matured characters. I love how it is initially mostly about pure lust and mutual attraction and slowly turns into something intense and real in the course of the book. Kameron and Ivy have tremendously good chemistry and are from the minute of the book into one another and, accordingly, the reader too! The best friends play a really cute and funny, but very important role here. It‘s sweet that there is another sweet little love story to the main one. I loved it. I truly recommend!
Lord have mercy, this was all kinds of hot. And considering how much of the sexiness took part in the book I'm amazed we still had time for traditional romance and IMHO it was really good, the drama was an easy fix with the story very low on angst, which I think was great for the flow.
Brava!
If wasn't for the international fee being a ripoff in Brazil at the moment I'd buy a paperback of this today. It's the kind of hot story you wanna look at your shelves and give a knowing smile when zeroing on it.
I really like Madeleine Taylor/Lise Gold books. This wasn’t my favourite out of them all but I still enjoyed it. I’ve recently reread it and tandem read with audio. Narrated by Tessa Stavers.
This is written in first person with 1x POV. Masc/Femme, Age Gap (12 years), Insta-Love, One night to Forever. 9x Spicy Scenes. BDSM and Dom/Sub dynamic and elements.
