Song Luan transmigrated into a book called “The Powerful Minister” and became the wife of the Male Lead. In the book, the original owner was snobbish, abandoned her son, and finally died in a fire. Song Luan, who had read the book, expressed a panic. Then, she prepared to be a new leaf and hug the male lead’s golden thigh.
Song Luan woke up to find herself transmigrated into a novel—as a cannon fodder character doomed to be murdered by her own husband and son. In the original plot, she was painted as a promiscuous woman who abused her child, and naturally, her ending was a tragic one. Determined to change her fate, Song Luan took a different path: she treated her son with kindness and tried to build a peaceful life with her cold, distant husband.
Surprisingly, her husband, Zhao Nanyu, began to fall for her. But fate, cruel as ever, had already sealed her ending. A slow, silent poison had been destroying her from the inside—she only had a few months left.
When Zhao Nanyu learned the truth, grief consumed him. Especially when he discovered that this wasn’t their first lifetime together—they had lived through three lifetimes, all ending in tragedy. This time, he was given another chance. Even if Song Luan couldn’t love him back, he was content loving enough for the both of them.
I used to be confused about what a "yandere" truly meant… until Zhao Nanyu. He’s the textbook case—gentle on the outside, obsessive and terrifying underneath. A true wolf in sheep’s clothing.
This story won’t be for everyone. Some will hate it, some will be completely captivated. It reminded me a lot of Goodbye, My Princess—tragic, emotional, and haunting in all the right ways.
Two stars because it is beautifully written. Only two stars because the entire book is about an unrepentant abuser. It’s abuse and domestic violence, with a small sprinkling of Stockholm Syndrome. It’s not cute, it’s not love. I don’t understand the people who loved this book.
selt note: VERY toxic story of H being obsessed with the h. Story of illfated love. The H will kill the h in her every life, and the h will never love him again after their first life together.
SPOILERS from another reviewer - Book Lover Slytherine - on Novelupdates.
1st life. The ML is the fvcking bastard. So he basically did a play of loving the MC to get her country. He killed her children while making the MC believing that she's infertile. He basically slashed her parents and brother's head and hang them on the street. When her sister-in-law and niece fled by the secret path this bastard came to MC and lied that he'll save them if she tells him their location. The FL tells him and then he goes and killed them. The 4 year old niece thought he'll save her so she called him to help her. But this bastard slashed her. When the MC knew that the ML is behind her innocent family's massacere she gets crazy and volunteers to die..
But after her death the ML regrets. He thought by getting the neighbour country's throne but he realizes when he was with MC he was the most happiest. But now he has power and wealth but no happiness. Then a taoist came in his dreams and tell him that he'll kill the MC in her every life and the MC will never love him again. So does he still want to meet her? He replied even if he kills her he still wanna meet her. That bastard.
2nd Life In their 2nd life the MC got married and had a child with him. And they were happy. But one day the MC drown into the pond and remembers her 1st life. She gets crazy while seeing the mu*derer of her family and begun loathing and hatred for the ml. She also ignores her child cause she can't love him as he's the mu*derer's child. So the ML couldn't accept the hatred and first fed her poison and then stabbed her in the heart. Her son locked the door and the ML burned her while smiling. And he and his son lived a good life with the ori fl.
3rd Life In the 3rdd life MC forgets everything, becomes a modern woman and read her 2nd life in a book. Then the fvcking taoist made her transmigrating in the book. She then tried to fix her relationship with ML and is successful. The ML stops giving her the poison But she still dies because the poison was strong. I really felt pity for ML when I didn't know the 1st & 2nd life.
4th Life The MC comes back to her modern life but that taoist again transmigrates her in the novel. She didn't feel anything for the ML so she tried to hide with the other pitiful female side character. (Her story is described below) But was caught and the ML chained her. He literally imprisoned her. This time the ml's 1st and 2nd life memories came back. He knew the MC will die in his hands in every life already she died. But he still won't let go of her. This time they had children but the fact is the MC never loved him. She literally give up. She felt attraction for other persons but not him. That's how the story ended.
- It does have a HEA, but the h will never love the H (because the taoist priest casted some magic on her). They will always be together for eternity, he will forever love her obsessively and she will bear it.
It was good at the beginning, but got dragged out in the end. And the past lives still doesnt explain why the Song Luan (female lead) would take out her anger on her child and not on Zhao Nanyu (male lead).
3.5, so many cliffhanger. My heart cnt take this! I want HE AND ABSOLUTE ENDING FOR EVERYONE ARGHRHRHDHHDBDBDBDBDBBF I AM SO NOT CONTENT. I NEED A SEQUEL FRRRRRR
I had a hard time deciding how to rate this. I devoured the first 40 chapters. I would say the first half of the book, I was prepared to have this be a solid 4 but then the second half of the book seemed to be redundant with the push and pull and the ending seemed rather ambiguous to me. The first half was refreshing because Song Luan transmigrates into a book she was reading where she was the cheating wife who slowly got poisoned by her powerful, ruthless husband and she was genuinely afraid of him and trying to get on his good side so he would stop poisoning her. She also had to deal with the fallout from her host body's previous actions which was pretty funny. I did like how possessive the ML was throughout. Overall, it was enjoyable and the translation was good, but I don't think I would re-read it.
a heart breaking romance, this is not a romance but a tragedy in disguise... The novel did end with a HE.... but could it really be called a happy ending?no no no, this is not a happy ending story but a best ending story.lol recommend for people who aren't looking for a fluffly or light romance story
Solid 3 stars, didn’t love the book but I enjoyed some parts of it. Some parts were interesting and I guess I liked it. Wished there was more expressions of love from female lead tho. Nonetheless an okay book. Not bad.
This was my first time reading a translated chinese novel. And it was kind of badly translated, but it is fan translated so it is understandable. Though somehow even through everything, the author must have but something in it, because I couldn't stop LOL.
I don't know how I feel about this story. There were parts I enjoyed, but not the moral of the story. It was hard for me to finish reading it, but I did it!
This is an angst book, basically the transmigrator arrives to an abusive relationship with the sadistic male lead. It's honestly frustrating and I don't really find it romantic...
Don't pick it up if you can't handle yanderes. Also check trigger warnings. Idk why people read these stories then rate them 1 stars knowing they won't like them
3.5/05 I liked the story, this is a captivity story so it might feel boring or repetitive for others but it's good. The feelings the leads had for each other were also very clear. It's wasn't love or hate, it was much more complicated than that for which I applaud the author. it's not easy to write such complicated emotions. This is exactly the kind that I wanted. The abuser and the abused don't fall in love but circumstances force them to be together. It's refreshing after all the boring ass stockholm syndrome tropes in yandere stories.
Overall a nice yandere story, though I would've liked the smut to be a little more detailed, and I wanted to see more of
