Short Paranormal Culinary Cozy Lucy McGuffin ran a busy bakery. She also got involved in local investigations, she couldn't help herself, she had a talent for detecting lies and a pup that could see ghosts. Her boyfriend Travis was with the police and would prefer she stayed out of investigations. A customer asked her for a favor involving an expensive ring...and she lost track of it and frantically chased down every lead she could find until she actually did recover it. Ms. Geraci's cozy tale is full of mystery and humor and interaction between good friends and eclectic characters. I enjoyed it and would recommend it for an excellent way to quickly pass time waiting. I was gifted an ARC with no expectations and offer my opinion gratis
Lucy and Paco are at it again, this time shoving the mystery of a missing engagement ring that Lucy was supposed to bake into a muffin. It’s a short but delightful story
The Great Diamond Caper is a wonderful continuation of the Whispering Bay Mystery series. This is the sixth book and it doesn't get old! It's fun to be back with Lucy, her dog Paco and all the others that we've met. I always love the inclusion of the different muffins that Lucy and Sarah's cafe, The Bistro by the Beach, have for sale and their importance to the story. The shop is always a hub of activity. The addition of Travis' new dog, Ellie, added some fun. No bodies this time but maybe a ghost along with some missing jewelry.
Lucy and Travis' relationship doesn't seem to be going anywhere, or does it? A few twists and turns with tea leaves being read along with a mystery to be solved kept my interest from the first page to the last. Lucy of course is front and center solving the case no matter what her police chief boyfriend tells her and she always seems to beat them to the punch. There was some closure to the story and hints of what might be coming in a future book. I can't wait to return to Whispering Bay and see what Lucy and Paco her sidekick dog are up to next! I loved the playfulness of the cover.
Ms. Geraci is an author whose books I enjoy whether they are cozy mysteries or contemporary romances. I always look forward to see what she writes next!
Let the kids have their Halloween candy as for me I will take a great big share of Paco! Thanks to Maria Geraci that is exactly what is served up in The Great Diamond Caper (Whispering Bay Mystery, #6). Don’t get me wrong I enjoy Lucy, the human lie-detector but the ghost whisperer dog, Paco stole my heart five books ago.
Just in time for the Halloween weekend, Lucy and Paco deal with a cursed engagement ring, and a haunted house while baking and running her small town muffin shop. Besides Lucy and Paco there are what must be some of Whispering Bay, Florida’s quirkiest characters ever. A to find the missing ring leads to a mystery to be solved something that amateur sleuths, Lucy and Paco excel in doing. No gore, no scary to go to sleep at night instead tons of entertainment and amusement of both the human and the canine variety.
The publisher/author gave me a complimentary ARC of the book which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own. 5 Stars
We all need some fun, quirky characters, hilarity, cozy mystery, and, well, dog poop right now to help us cope. The Great Diamond caper has all this and more. All the books in the Whispering Bay series are full of magic and laughs with Paco the dog who sees ghosts and Lucy who is the human lie detector and baker of great muffins. Warning, the book will make you hungry! I had to make pumpkin muffins just from reading the book. Lucy leads us on another madcap romp searching for a missing diamond ring that may have a legend and curse attached to it. And the usual cast of crazy locals fill the pages, from the Gray Flamingos to the Ghost Society and even a psychic. What's not to love. And the romance between Lucy and the Chief of Police Travis gets even better. Travis gets a retired police dog and Paco is not impressed. This book stands alone but trust me, you will want to read the whole series. You might even live through the election now!
What a fun way to spend the day! Lucy and the rest of the gang in Whispering Bay serve up a fun light-hearted mystery involving apple walnut cream cheese muffins, a botched proposal, a missing diamond ring, and a haunted house! This is a quick entertaining read as the proposal at The Bistro by the Beach cafe goes awry and Lucy must find out if the diamond’s disappearance was a simple mistake or a theft. Lucy is a clever and funny protagonist who has a big heart. She has a knack for telling when people are lying, and her sidekick, rescue dog Paco, can communicate with ghosts. As the two look for clues, Lucy also enlists the help of her police chief boyfriend Travis, Private Investigator Jake Gitty, and a mysterious tea leaf reader. The more the merrier as the obstacles to solving the crime continue and Lucy cleverly finds her way around them. Solid plotting, snappy dialogue, and several amusing situations make this story a winner! A very enjoyable read!
A quick fun read. Lucy was getting used to peace and quiet. Enjoying making her muffins and finding new recipes. Everything went off the rails when she was asked to put an engagement ring in one of her muffins. Her spidey sense has been going off like crazy. Why is everyone lying? So Paco and her are off to try to find the ring. Travis, chief of police and her boyfriend, doesn't want her involved at all. Within 24 hours all kinds of craziness goes on. In the morning, all meet up at the Pappas house. As we go over the trail of the ring, it is found. In the end, a family heirloom is not given as the engagement ring. Love wins, a new dog is introduced, jealously rears its head and an old love is acknowledged.
Book #6 in Whispering Bay Mystery by Ms. Geraci. I love this series. A sweet and funny book. Lucy and Paco are bound and determined to find the missing diamond. Lucy agrees to help Gus and his heartwarming idea of proposal. It just doesn’t go as planned. I have loved each and every book. I loved that when Lucy’s was in a bind that her best friend Brittany helps her with it, because she can’t ask anyone else especially Travis her boyfriend and the new chief of police. I will say this he was a jerk in this book. When he arrested her, and just not treating her like a boyfriend should. It confused me at the end when he was being nice. I can’t wait to see what happens between them in the next book.
The Great Diamond Caper is the latest installment in the continuing adventures of Lucy and her dog, Paco. No murder this time, but a missing diamond that has Lucy in the middle of the investigation, and of course, mayhem ensues….. The relationship between Lucy and Travis continues to develop, and Paco now has his own relationship with Travis’s dog, Ellie. I love visiting Whispering Bay and all the characters who live there. As a muffin baker myself, I always find myself in the kitchen to bake a batch of Lucy’s latest muffins after a visit to Whispering Bay.
What a fantastic read! I love this latest edition of the adventures of Lucy and Paco! I could not put this one down. From the first page I fell in love with Gus and idea of his proposal to Viola. Lucy scurries around creating the perfect muffin to participate in the great proposal. Then in true Lucy style, everything goes awry. The characters are perfect, I love the girls at the Bistro, Travis, and the new pooch in town! Even the PI Jake Gitty makes a return. Lucy tries to stay out of trouble and still solve a mystery. How does that go? Well it's entertainment you don't want to miss. This series keeps getting better and better.
Things are busy at Bistro by the Sea. The Great Diamond Caper is an excellent addition to the series and all the characters are back and busy. From haunted rings to haunted to houses, to lots of muffins to a new dog in town that Paco may or may not like, this book is funny and kept me guessing to the end. There were no dead bodies but plenty of plot and entertainment with plenty of twists and turns to keep me guessing to the end. I could not put this book down until the very end as I had no idea “who dunnit”.
The author gave me a complimentary ARC of the book which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed All thoughts and opinions are my own.
When a customer asks Lucy to hide a valuable engagement ring in one of her muffin, it seems like a romantic idea. Unfortunately it ends poorly when the ring goes missing. Was it stolen or was it accidentally consumed? Lucy has to find this ring. Would her special talent help? I certainly hoped so. Lucy is a sweet and quirky character as his her dog, Paco. She has her work cut out for her in this story I enjoyed the paranormal element. The Great Diamond Caper combines her romance with her disapproving boyfriend, a haunted house and the dangerous (to Lucy) killer attack squirrels. I really enjoyed this light hearted cozy mystery. The Great Diamond Caper made my day brighter.
This is the 6th in the series. The main character is Lucy McGuffin who with her friend owns a Bistro. She has gotten a name for herself for tripping over bodies. She is a human lie detector and her little dog can see and speak to the dead. One of her favorite customers has asked her to hid a ring in one of her muffins so he can he can ask is lady friend to marry him. Of course everything goes wrong and Lucy loses the ring but she is sure she can figure this and get back by the end of the day. Only it almost doesn't work that way. Can she finally figure this out right and find the ring?
What a cute, fun story! Maria Geraci’s series about small town Whispering Bay in Florida with its quirky, funny characters make me smile. The stories all center around Lucy McGuffin and her dog, Paco. Lucy has a muffin shop where all theses interesting characters visit daily. There is always a mystery, a little romance and some great dialogue. These books, and this book in particular are very easy reads, and they always make me smile. If you are looking for a relaxing read, a get away from all the ills of our world today, try this book. Heck, try this series. I love it!
I've been enjoying the Whispering Bay series for a while now. I thought this one was the most engaging. I laughed multiple times as Lucy tries to locate the missing diamond ring. No murders to solve in this book, but Lucy was entrusted with a a diamond ring for a surprise engagement. But when the time came, the diamond was gone!
As always, this book has lots of interesting characters and fun humor. Paco the dog with special powers is introduced to a new dog - he's not so sure about her. But his talents are needed to crack the case. And for the Halloween season - there may even be a ghost.
This book focused on a missing ring (Some people thought it was priceless others weren’t so sure.)
Gus has asked Lucy to hide an engagement ring in a muffin to surprise his girlfriend. Lucy agreed but somehow the ring goes missing. Lucy and Paco have less than 24 hours to find the ring and save the proposal. Along the way she meets interesting new characters and a new dog friend for Paco. I enjoy this series a lot and found this book to be a great addition to the series. I am looking forward to the next installment.
The Great Diamond Caper (Whispering Bay Mystery, #6) is a quick, fun cosy mystery. Lucy & Paco do it again. Lucy and Paco have had a 6 month reprieve from finding dead bodies and Lucy and Travis have been taking their relationship slow. Lucy is worried that if she falls in love with Travis, she will lose her ability to detect lying.
This time, an engagement ring goes missing. What could go wrong with hiding a ring in a muffin? But Lucy and Paco are on the case.
I read an ARC as part of the author's review crew. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.
The latest adventure of Lucy and Paco in the town of Whispering Bay has arrived. The Great Diamond Caper was so much fun. Lucy is entrusted with a diamond ring for a wedding proposal at the Bistro by the Bay and what could go wrong there?!? Well if you know Lucy - Lots!! You could read it as a stand alone but trust me, the series is better if you read them in order. Plus, Lucy's adventures (and the food) are not to be missed. The books are great for all ages and are laugh out loud funny.
A quick, easy and entertaining cozy mystery. So nice to read a mystery without a dead body. Clever diamond caper that kept me guessing. I thought certain I had it figured out, but I was wrong. The protagonist and her dog are a delight. A little heavy on the woo woo of which I am not a fan, but it certainly didn't stop me from enjoying the story. Thanks to the author for providing a copy which I am voluntarily reviewing.
Escape into the wildly, wacky world of Whispering Bay. Geraci gives intrigue a stylish makeover. With a wicked sense of humor, unbelievable characters, unpredictable twists and enchanting scenarios, the Whispering Bay Mysteries are the perfect escape from current real world drama. This time around Lucy and Paco find themselves tackling a real nail biter. Can their unconventional skills solve the mystery of The Great Diamond Caper? Suspense with a side of wit and an abundance of heart.
I always enjoy returning to Whispering Bay to find out what Lucy and her dog, Paco are doing. This was another fun mystery. It was full of the characters I like, intrigue, delicious muffins, and a girl's best friend, diamonds. I always enjoy trying to solve the mystery. This time it was for a missing engagement ring. I also liked Travis' new dog, Ellie. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
No matter the mystery solving type, Lucy is determined to help solve it. I do enjoy Whispering Bay series and I am glad the author decided to pen a different type of mystery at this locale that is just as entertaining, intense and cozy as the others. Her antics are hilarious and I also like that this has more romantic elements. The hunt is on, enjoyed reading this. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
A great cozy mystery that continues the adventures of Lucy and her dog Paco. As this is the sixth book in the series it was fun to catch up with the characters and see what was happening in Whispering Bay.
The book is a nice mix of mystery, romance, and small-town fun. I really enjoy these books when I am looking for a mystery but don't want something too heavy.
Thank you to the author for providing an ARC for an honest review.
Lucy is in a pickle, she was part of a huge marriage proposal surprise, but somehow while she had the ring it disappeared. There are rumors galore as to the history and value of the ring, which just makes it harder for Lucy and Paco to solve the mystery. Lucy is afraid that she is losing her ability as a human lie detector and what it would mean for her and Paco. A cute story with lots of twists and turns, and we get to know some of the Whispering Bay residents.
Lucy s in a frenzy.........her friend’s heritage diamond ring has disappeared on her watch. (Baked in a muffin?)Can she follow the myriad of clues to find it? Of course she can depend on pooch Paco to help......or can she? Is Paco in love or jealous of Travis’s(Lucy’s boyfriend ‘s)new dog? Wait......all of Whispering Bay’s characters want to help? Or do they have their own agenda? Watch out , Lucy!
The Great Diamond Caper is a continuation of the Whispering Bay Mystery series. It is the sixth book and just as fun as the others. It’s a fun, quick read. Just the thing to read right now. Lucy is asked to put an engagement ring in a muffin. It all goes very wrong when the ring comes up missing and Lucy senses that everyone is lying to her. Travis, her boyfriend and the chief of police, doesn’t want Lucy involved in looking for the ring but she persists. All is well in the end.
Maria Geraci gives us another story full of delight! I get so much enjoyment reading this series. The Great Diamond Caper has characters brimming with personality, you can’t get enough of them. I’m always so happy to revisit them. With a storyline that completely hooks you, this makes for a joyful page turner.
I love this series! Maria Geraci puts the cozy in cozy mystery.
Mysteries always seem to find Lucy, but things have been calm for her for awhile now, until she promises to help a person out with his proposal by putting his ring in one of her muffins. Of course, the ring disappears, now they have to find it. This series would not be the success it is without Lucy's dog, Paco, who is a very special dog. I absolutely love him. This is such a fun book, with just a hint of romance. I really enjoyed it.
Another fun book in this series. Happily there are no dead bodies in this book. It always fun to read about the interactions between Paco and Lucy. The book is a quick read with some funny bits and some romance drama along with a mystery to solve. So sit back and enjoy the ride this book brings.
*I received a free copy of this book from the author and am voluntarily giving my honest opinion*
Welcome back to the small town of Whispering Bay, FL in Maria Geraci's mystery book 6 "The Great Diamond Caper." The stories all center around Lucy McGuffin and her dog, Paco who seems to be a ghost whisperer. The characters in this story are fun, and the story is very easy to read. There is a little bit of everything in this book including a little romance. Loved it.
