This was a fun quick read. Loved the characters and the story. Greer is a witch who falls for what she believes is two different men. What follows is a lot of misunderstandings and some nice steamy scences. Loved the twist in the ending.
Fun steamy action packed novella. Loved the FMC and her men are unique. Throw in a dark magic curse and an evil ex-girlfriend and you got a thrilling story. Want to read more from this storyline for sure. Highly recommend.
Author Cali Mann brings us the tale of Geer and her two boyfriends who are two parts of the same person. Seb is the TA that she meets when going to one of her professors to ask to drop the class but she's to late to. So the professor offers to have Seb tutor her. One night after a long day in college decides to go out with her roommate to a party and there she meets Bash the vampire. This brings us to how Geer knows that Seb maybe the same person due to the fact that when she meets up with Seb its at the same apartment that Bash took her too. But the villain of the story is Fiona the vampire and both of the guys' ex-girlfriend. Geer asks her papa about the dark magic that is surrounding Seb. Fiona sends several things to Bash in order to draw him out and take him to her master. This is a great novella and I highly recommend it for all fantasy fans.
This was a fantastic read that I enjoyed from beginning to end and there was no putting it down. It moves along at a great pace which made for a relaxing and enjoyable read. The characters are amazing and you cannot help but love them and want to be there for them. This book needs to be read, there is no doubt about it. It needs to be on your TBR list.
Loved this book, something different story wise but so so good, so short but so much happened, loved the characters and the way that they had to figure out that they are the same person etc. happy Halloween 🎃 xx
This was a fun story! Short, but still full of drama, magic and intrigue. I haven't read a story with characters quite like these before, and I really enjoyed it!
An average book with a predictable plot and an unsatisfying ending. Seb and Bash (terrible names btw) are two personalities/entities trapped in one body. After his vampire father walked out on his human mother, she grew to hate her son’s vampiric side, so she attempted to cure him of it with dark magic, but only succeeded in creating the split. During the day, Seb is an oblivious human, and at night he becomes Bash, a self-hating vampire. They meet Greer (another terrible name) and both fall in insta-love with her. Bash tells her they’re twin brothers, and that their mother used magic to make Seb forget about him, but the truth comes out pretty quickly. Honestly, the whole plot comes out quickly. There’s not a lot of depth here.
The FMC has a could-be-interesting philosophical issue with so-called dark magic; her mother apparently “went dark” in her childhood and she’s apparently genetically predisposed to being influenced by darkness. This is shown when a dark magic tome makes her consider calling her mom, so she immediately calls her dad to come take the thing away. He does so, and then tells her not to hang out with Seb since that’s where she got the book. Normally people who say the romance novel MCs shouldn’t be together are in the wrong, so I thought this was leading up to a reunion with her mom where she gets to tell her story and we find out that dark magic isn’t just pure evil, and that it’s more complicated than that—NOPE.
Her mom’s excuse for going dark? “Power.” One word. And why’d she walk out on her daughter? Eh, she didn’t go dark until after she and her ex broke up, so abandoning her child had nothing to do with her darkness.
WTF, okay mom, let’s just do this dark reunification ritual and be done with it… Whoops! Seb and Bash get 2 bodies instead, surprise! They actually asked for this! Sebastian will never be whole again, and both moms get away with it. *headdesk*
And then there’s a terrible other woman plot and an abduction, but who cares? It’s super boring and low stakes as Bash just walked in and killed the villains easily.
This was a cute and quick read. I honestly think that the author could have made this into a much longer book with more back story, tension, and interactions between Greer and the guys.
Dark Magic was a really quick and easy to read novella perfect for the Halloween season. I enjoyed the pull between good and evil in this book as well as the concept that dark magic doesn't always necessarily mean that the person wielding it is bad. Don't get me wrong, there are some very clear baddies in this book, but also some surprising characters that aren't as bad as you would assume them to be based on what they are.
This novella gave me a bit of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde vibes with the whole brother situation with Seb and Bash. Not so much with the good vs evil aspect, but rather with the contrast in the brothers' personalities and the constant switching back and forth. Their predicament and how they got to that point was very unique and I loved how Mann worked their relationships with Greer out in this book. It was an entertaining situation to read about and had me both giggling and waiting in suspense to see how everything would play out with the three of them.
Definitely pick this up if you want a quick festive Halloween read!
Loved Less: *Too short *Too liberal (for my own tastes)

My opinion: Extremely fast paced story with no extra frills. I always complain when books are too descriptive and can be half the length...this is the complete opposite. I was left wanting more! My only complaint was that it was too liberal for my own tastes. I'm kind of a prude!
Cute short read. I’m in love with this cover. I want hair like Greer’s. This is the perfect spooky season read. You have witches and vampires. There is also mention of other supernatural creatures. Greer is a witch. She is attending a human college. There she meets Seb. Seb is a human or so she thinks. Then she meets Bash who is a vampire. Greer must stay away from dark magic. But what’s a girl to do when she finds herself in the arms of a vampire? Have some sexy time with him of course. She learns that Bash and Seb are brothers. They have been cursed. She has feelings for both of them. Will she find a way to save the brothers without the help of dark magic? Read the book to find out.
I love this book because of the intrigue and suspense.
Greer is experiencing her freshman year in college and her first time away from home. Always an overachiever who doesn't think about the consequences she jumps in with an over full schedule and is now "drowning." One of her professors has Seb tutor her even though he really doesn't want to. Then on a night out she meets Bash, who looks almost identical to Seb. Can she help these two brothers mend their soul before it's too late or will Seb's ex, Fiona, win?
As if freshman year of college isn’t challenging enough, Greer is halfway across the country from her dads on the one condition that she doesn’t use her magick on any mortals. Which means if she wants to get her grades up, she has to deal with a surly tutor. Luckily, he’s very easy on the eyes. And then to complicate things further, she falls into bed with his bad boy twin brother. Or so she thought. With her heart torn between the two, Greer grapples with the consequences of black magic. Using it could consume her, but without her help both Seb and Bash could be lost to her forever.
This book starts out slow Greer going to college not being able to use magic and failing a class she couldn’t get out of . Oh don’t you worry little reader all you have to do is just keep reading and the story comes to life… Greer, the tutor , the vampire and an ex in scorn, and the intimate rides in the sheets will make you want more 5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A simple and sweet romance. A very fun read. My only question being, in the end… when they all start aging from young adults to their thirties… will they remain as they are or will two of them change to be together forever? I wish the author would make mention of their future plans.
A short story about a good witch going to college and meets two different guys who have a lot in common. In comes an ex girlfriend stirring up some trouble. My only problem is I wish it was longer, I kind of feel like things were left hanging with the vampires and just wanted more of their relationship.it is still a good read so give it a try!
Seb, and Bash are one person. Bash knows about Seb, but not the other way around. A witch comes into the story. She likes both men. She does not know they are not two different men, but one. This is a must read. The book was very good with a lot of twists.
This was decent. There was a few typos, and there was a few inconsistencies like in one scene. The main character was wearing jeans and two sentences later it was suddenly a skirt?? it was a quick easy read, and the writing was good
I got this in a SYK day and read it as a random quick read but I am OBSESSED! The plot is amazing, I was hooked so quick and I LOVE Greer ❤️ I almost gasped out loud on a train a couple times 🤣
