Miracle of Asteroid Camp 88 Tribal Flyer Jibril Genre Purge 3 Beyond the Starry Tempest My Four Foundling Fathers Bellerofonte Cali-Forward! "Buildings Roman" by W. Dean The Gray-Haired Girl Post-Modem Alchemy
Genre Purge 3 is a collection of short stories. While all are good, my favorite is My Four Foundling Fathers. All stories are imaginative and interesting. Very good short read.
My thanks to the author, Michael Andre-Driussi, for my electronic copy of this book. #Goodreads Giveaway
A great collection of short stories. Each story keeps you on your toes. I won from a Goodreads giveaway and now I will be going to check out more books by Michael Andre-Driussi
When I first started "Genre Purge 3," by Michael Andre-Driussi, I didn't realize it was a collection of short stories. Imagine my confusion when a new "Chapter" started and it was a new story. I went back to reread the information on the book that I won and realized that it was a collection of short stories. To my relief, I can say it's a great book of short stories. If you like science fiction and quick stories to entertain, then you'll love this book. I did draw some parallels to this world we're living in. Perhaps there are some lessons to be learned from these stories.
I won this book in a Goodreads Giveaway, for which I am very grateful. The following is my unbiased review of it.
This is another of the author's collections of short stories. Like his others, they are widely varied in genre, and no two are alike. Some are very good, all are eclectic, many are thought provoking, a few made me chuckle, and a few make you sit back and say "huh?". The latter ones often convinced to to reread them, because maybe I missed something. Often the case, but some still make me think "well, huh". Sometimes I think I like those stories the best.
I was recently reorganizing my Kindle, and discovered I have five of the authors books. (I use Collections to keep things organized to minimize loosing track of my 2400 Kindle books.) Obviously, I like his writing. I think you might, too.
Full disclosure: I received a free copy of this eBook as a Goodreads giveaway.
This is a quirky collection of short stories. Some I found very good and thought provoking, some left me completely flat, many made me uncomfortable... There are stories about fatherhood, stories about fiction as hard core propaganda, many about gender roles, and one about the Grapes of Wrath.
I truly did not enjoy the majority of this book. I found most of the stories to be confusingly written and uninteresting. The exceptions were "Cali Forward!" and "Post Modem Alchemy", which were both quite good and I think that warranted adding a star to what otherwise I believe to be a one star book.
This was free in a giveaway, and I'm going to be honest, I don't have a clue what I'm supposed to think about this collection. Perhaps I'm missing something? The stories were interesting premises, but not interesting in themselves. Am I just not getting it? Is this an experiment? This one just wasn't for me.
Didn't get to finish all the short stories because I realized I'm not a fan of them.
However, I read a few of them which were interesting, and some left me wanting mor, which is part of the reason I don't like short stories. I didn't get any resolution from the stories I did get to enjoy. But that might just be me so I can't fault the book or the author.
