"They should all be afraid of me now"

An assassin.
A psychopath.
A complete mess.

I’ve been called all of those and worse.
Somebody once told me that one bad chapter doesn't mean your story is over.
Mine was just starting.
Painting me as the villain of the story and destroying everything I held dear was an easy task for them.
It was easy for him.
But the rules of the game have changed, and this time I was going to make them pay.

My name is Ophelia Aster, a girl they threw away, a girl they wanted to shatter.
They thought trapping me would set them free, but they didn’t know that the girl they used to know, didn’t exist anymore.
They threw me into the darkness, so darkness was what I became.

L.K. Reid is a dark romance author who hates slow walkers and people being mean for no reason.

In her opinion, Halloween should be a public holiday, and she also has a small obsession with all things historical—especially Greek mythology. During high school, she wanted to be an archaeologist, and ended up studying law, but obviously neither one of those professions worked out.

If she isn’t writing, she’s most probably watching horror movies, listening to music, reading, or plotting upcoming books.

My father didn't raise a coward. A psychotic bitch, yes, but definitely not a coward. 🔪

🩸the positives (depends on your take on positives)

↠ this book is a trash ass mess. no logic, just vibes. a story that makes sense? nah you won't find that shit here
↠ hella blood being spilled, hella torture
↠ everyones fucking each other
↠ everyones cheating on each other
↠ everyones knifing each other (sometimes up the vagina)
↠ everyones biting dicks off (okay, not everyone, that one's just ophelia)

🩸the negatives

↠ miscommunication trope
↠ this girl apparently became a knife expert in a month
↠ betraying body syndrome
↠ insta-love between storm and ophelia
↠ unconvincing tell-not-show love between kieran and ophelia
↠ hard to respect a bad bitch when she's weak for a dumb man

🩸 in conclusion:

↠ entertaining but a bit flat

“I am not a princess, you moron,”
“I am a motherfucking queen.”

“I don’t enjoy pain. I. Am. Pain.” Her foot hit the side of my face, sending me to the floor.”

You knows books that revolve around songs like “I see red” and “criminal”
Yeah that’s basically what this book is.

This book was just all kinds of crazy and ridiculous. I mean honestly, what did I just read?

“Oh, darling, I’ve been initiated into something called Syndicate, run by my father. Saturdays are stabbing days, you know, to slice somebody up. Also, did you know that if you cut someone’s jugular, it takes them less than ten minutes to completely bleed out? A piece of art, really. Oh, and your family is in on that business. I am basically part of the Russian mafia now, so no, I can’t go shopping for a prom dress because there’s another person to kill.”

Lets start off with : our heroine, Ophelia, born and brought up in a Russian mafia family with god-awful parents and is trained to kill. Our hero, Kieran, works for ophelia’s family and is probably the worst possible excuse of a man. They’re forced to be engaged to each other to “strengthen” their family bonds and basically rule the world. But everything ended when Ophelia walks in on Kieran cheating on her and she basically leaves that life.

Lets meet the characters shall we?

Ophelia – psycho, killer, no forgiveness
Kieran(brother 1) – asshole, leader, pathetic
Cillian(brother 2) – psycho part II, anger issues, I love him
Tristain(brother 3) - soft, stops arguments, not wreckless
Ava(sister) – ophelia’s best-friend, pregnant, dead
Storm- biker gang leader, history with Ophelia, fucking-badass

Now that we’re done with the introductions, lets talk about all the shit that happens

Four years later, basically the present, the brothers kidnap Ophelia because they believe she killed ava. After she told them countless times in the past that it wasn’t her. But they obviously don’t believe her, I mean why would they? they only spent every fucking day with her.

Now let me show the series of miserably entertaining events:

• They kidnap her
• She punches cillian and knees Kieran]
• They chain her to a bed
• Kieran fucks her with a knife
• Tristain takes her to kierans bedroom and shows that asshole fucking the same girl he cheated on Ophelia with
• Ophelia kills the whore
• They fuck
• She fucks cillian
• They end up going to Las Vegas because Storm kidnapped their mom’
• They trade Ophelia for their mom
• Ophelia kills Kieran
• She’s kidnapped by storm

So yes. That’s it. We still don’t know who killed ava and theres a sequel to this book. Sooo am I gonna read it? Yup
Am I stupid? Most definitely.

Honestly I cant say im sad that Kieran died. He was whiney and useless. Jesus he fucked another girl for 3 months AND he fucked/raped ophelia’s sister.

“You did this. You just killed me. Shattered my soul, stomped on my heart. And you should be fucking scared.”

And Ophelia? She plain psychotic.

“You’re Baba Yaga. Death, destruction.”
Baba Yaga? Now, that was a nickname I could get behind. The other ones usually sounded too boring. Murderer, psychopath, assassin, people really weren’t creative enough”

My teeth connected together finally, and the small head dropped into my mouth.
“Nasty. But fucking cool.”

This is her literally biting of a guys dick

But I need to know what happens between Ophelia and storm.

Edit: I feel like my review didn't do justice to one of my FAV books so far.

Its funny how I put so much time and effort, finding the correct synonyms and synchronizing the words, for the book that I wouldn't pick on any given day for free and would just summarize a paragraph for the one I would

Why i love this book

○ Ophelia Ophelia and Ophelia..
“My father didn’t raise a coward. A psychotic bitch, yes, but definitely not a coward.”

And bitch? That she is

○ there were so many instances where this book could have nurtured the clichés, we all seems to grow familiar with but fortunately, for me.. the author stayed true to her characters.

● The misunderstandings, the drama, the sex, the triggers. I can take anything and everything if and only if it's about a women with a backbone.
I just love how a women can be an asshole, the dick and the jerk time and time again but also have this little vulnerable moments.

I mean, I really hate, how a guy can treat you so bad but you end up with him all the same, with no memory of his abuse whatsoever.
And I am getting tired of reading that shit.

And I think its one of the main reason why I feel hard for this book.

××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××♡

“Ava told me her brother loved girls with personality.
Lucky him, years later, he got me with multiple ones.”

This book gave me exactly what I used to envision. Pisces duhh...we imagine shit. The romance was so similar to one I had in my mind,so familiar yet different..

Amazement would be an understatement

Big spoilerahead

I just couldn't see Ophelia and k having a HE.

I swear to god,

And omfg, the sex scenes, it was right then when I realised this book was going to be a treat. This book was a brutal MINDFUCK of all and I loved it every second of it.

Out of all the book that I have come to love so far, this one sure does hold the record. The angst, the plot, the curveballs omg sign me in for the next one.

Did I mentioned, I loved Ophelia ?
Well, now you know.

Blind fury and suffocating hatred

That's what i still feels after reading Ricochet .
I hate this story, i hate its characters and their decisions...
But what i hate most is the fact that in the end i LOVED each word.
Even when all i wanted was yell at someone (or better kill someone), L.K Reid with her hypnotic writing kept me glued to the pages of her book.
Hate and love are faces of the same medal, after all.
And this book is the living prove about it.

When a book give you such a visceral feelings, you know for sure it's a great one.
And Ricochet is absolutely incredible, a must read.

The story is complex, and i have to admit that after the first 6/7 chapters i was a bit confused with the storyline but also intrigued.
There were so many secrets and allusions, but it's just makes you eager to know, to understand ....
The characters as well are a chaos of emotions, but she managed everything so well that each action, thought, make perfectly sense.

There is just one thing that didn't sit well with me.
This is a twisted love story: hate and love battle each others for predominance.
When i say hate, i mean the kind that seek vengeance.
And althoght i felt this hate in each word, i missed the part about love...
Hate so raw should come from the deepest love but i couldn't see it.
I missed the falling in love part basically. There were just glimpse of that. Too short to really matters

Anyway I don't want to give away details of the story because the blurb says everything you need to know to decide reading it.
But you should give a chance to this book and this author, because if she is able to hooked you this way with her debut novel, then she probably will soon be one of your one-click authors.

P.S.
1.Ophelia is a fucking psychopath Queen 😍
2.Kieran is a fucking self-righteous coward 😤
3.Storm is a sexy nightmare 😏

I don't even know how to rate this... 2/2.5?
I was really excited for it because of the reviews but wow, speaking of big disappointments. I have to ask.......
Were the reviewers paid to praise this so much? because I can't explain it otherwise... either that or we're reading 2 different books. Going in I expected this amazing heroine and amazing plot and super original.... I didn't find any of those. The heroine was annoying and TRIED to be badass and you could tell the author was forcing it.
super disappointed.... good thing it was in kindle unlimited and I didn't have to pay for it.
The two stars is for the writing... it wasn't great but it wasn't bad either.

"You are the daughter of a dragon. You do not bow, you conquer."

As soon as I can breathe again properly, we need to have words about this brutally beautiful masterpiece, L.K. Reid - and about what you have done to my damn heart - bloody hell.

Ricochet is L.K Reid's debut novel, and she opens this hauntingly depraved dark romance by reminding us that love runs deep in our veins, but betrayal cuts deeper. We'd do well to remember this warning, as those themes sneak and slither beneath the surface of these pages, much like the Nightingale's ophidian emblem; a deadly, serpentining dance of lies, anguish and treachery. But it’s not until a snake raises its head to strike that we can truly see into the monsters' eyes, and sometimes, we don't find what we thought we would. This is a love story, but by the final lines, we realize it was never the one we were expecting; but it was so much more.

Like the beautiful, trained assassin gracing its pages, Ricochet lures us in as Reid begins spinning the tale of Ophelia Aster, the daughter of a Russian businessman growing up in the picturesque town of Croyford Bay, and Kieran Nightingale, her brother's best friend - and her best friend's brother. Their futures are as intertwined as their families, and the ties that bind tighten further with each exhilarating and excruciating twist and turn their story takes.

Ophelia and Kieran struggle to come to terms with the expectations of their fathers, and the feelings they have for one another. As time progresses and the hits keep coming, they learn the painful and potentially devastating lesson that love and devotion can lift you higher than you ever dreamed - or fell you fast enough to shatter everything you've ever held dear; that love may be a blind force, but when loyalty is too, no one walks away unscathed. No one is safe.

This is the first in a multi-part series, and Reid slowly and cleverly peels back the layers of secrecy and deceit to reveal the hemorrhaging wounds left in the wake of duplicity and manipulation. There were moments I loved these characters, and times I loathed them. Moments they terrified, traumatized and tantalized, too. Moments I grieved at the anguish Reid painted onto the pages, and times I reveled in stolen bits of beauty and hope.

In the end, - and what an end, holy hell - Ricochet rings true to its name and reminds us that one person, one moment - one decision - can connect us all, and change everything.
For better, for worse.
Forever.

Five massive stars for this ferocious, poignant and evocative story. Congratulations on a brilliant, mind-blowing debut, Miss Reid!

Gritty, original, toxic, dark

What an amazing book to discover. Unexpected, totally raw. All my emotions were exposed as I was reading. One of the more creative, original books I've encountered in a long time. This story does not adhere to any strict rules on love and requisite themes, instead, it delves into the emotions, good and bad, light and darkness of each character. It demonstrates the depths of human expression and how circumstances shape character. It questions nature or nurture, revealing traits of the characters that are just unleashed, those that with the right prompting, may realize themselves, perhaps evolving into, something different, dark even.

Two mafia families puppet the lives of their children in holding onto to their stronghold. Two families, two best friends, and two lovers, this is not a traditional romance though there is love; there is also hate, betrayal, envy, and retribution. This story delves into change, dark emotion, and freedom through self-actualization. Ophelia "Phee" and Kieran, childhood friends to lovers, lovers to enemies, are changed as they become embroiled in illicit acts of their respective families. Ophelia, the accomplished assassin and given to psychopathic tendencies, is often made to be at odds and put at a disadvantage in power struggles. Still, she is fierce and not to be taken lightly despite outward displays of vulnerability. Kieran, emerging as the head of his family business, is characterized as lightness; he is even given to weakness despite being alpha. Both embattle the edge of darkness until being consumed by it, embracing it along with their siblings, but everyone's reception to this darkness is different.

Characters garnered hate and scorn, sympathy, affection. I enjoyed living in the headspace of the main characters, following their motivations, experiencing their pain, daily trials with doing the "right" thing, and eventually becoming who they are. Their values and preferences were challenged by their circumstances, all with the backdrop of love's pull. Quite a bit of steam, tension, absolute feral passion played out unconventionally; this story was heart-wrenching.

Just a couple of elements didn’t work for me: At times the inner monologues while often darkly humorous, self-deprecating, became too much, producing a lot of a telling rather than showing. The writing was too wordy. Also, flashbacks employed until the end of the story made for a disjointed, disruptive flow. I often felt as if I were having to pause to catch up rather than continuing with what truly was an amazing tale. Overall, though, those did not detract from the pleasure and power of the story.

A medium burn with such an emotional pull as to keep me captivated, this storyline felt like a modern-day saga. Raw and gutting. Love, betrayal, strength, darkness. I haven't come across a book like this in a long time. La Femme Nikita and Bourne Identity meet The Way We Were. I was absolutely consumed. Great read.

This isn't a pretty story with neat and tidy characters that fit in boxes where you can tick off what it is and isn't so easily. This is a savage, blood-thirsty quest for revenge that gets things all muddled because life is a f*cking mess sometimes. It has characters you'll want to murder yourself.

First off, this story is definitely a page turner.  I was unable to get anything else done after starting this book.

Second, I really love the story. The characters - not so much. Reid does an incredible job of making me not like the main guy Kieran. Thank you for that!

Third, I am totally shipping out leading lady with Storm though. He is the one I am dying to know more about.

I think sometimes a couple has too much history to be able to stay together. Ophelia and Kieran have history in spades. There was no way for them to come back from it. I literally couldn't imagine a path towards forgiveness for Kieran or his brothers. Or her own brother.

I do like Cillian, but that's neither here nor there. Tristan is okay too I guess. But, oh boy - there's gonna be more hate drama now.

Kieran was utterly irredeemable to me, and in dark romance I forgive a lot. I don't feel any connection or chemistry with him. Just utter contempt.

Sometimes it goes like that though. Their story is definitely worth telling. I'm here for it. I want more though.

On the subject of Ophelia... I hope to read more about her in the future. I want to see her out and taking care of business Ophelia style. She's amazing and quite a bad@ss. I love her.

Looking forward to whatever Reid does next. I love her writing style. I literally TBR'd every single book she has listed on GR. Definitely a keeper.

Recommend for fans of dark romance who like FMCs that are hardcore violent and kinda crazy.

I mostri nascono mostri o vengono resi tali?

"C'è...qualcosa dentro di me. Sta strisciando, provando ad uscir fuori. È oscuro. Tanto, tanto oscuro..."

okay normally I would just give this 1 star and move on with my life but this book made me so angry im gonna write a review of how much I hated this fucking book
usually I enjoy assassin mafia or even kidnap trope I'm not very picky just make it fuckin good and this is def not it
the mc ophelia is written to be this psycho badass assassin and she just come off as annoying really she thinks A LOT about how she has fun doing crazy shit and thinks this badass phrases and in reality she doesnt DO what she is thinking bc the girl she is in the monologues is not what she is apparently if that makes sense
now I'm gonna talk about kieran this mf piece of shit I dont know for the life of me why an author would write such a dislikable "love interest" and listen again im not picky I looove grey toxic antagonists but the author just made a completely asshole who cheats for no damn reason and actually fucks the mc sister and lets her be sex trafficked ?? and still thinks he has the right to KIDNAP her bc he THINKS she killed his sister thats fuckin INSANE  theres absolutely nothing likable about kieran and dont say he is just fuckd up bc of his environment or whatever bc he had room to grow a fucking pair of balls and not be this insufferable really
the plot had potential but just about everything else is awful like the present and years ago thing ((she just coudnt make it interesting)) and the loooong monologues i mean it did show how the mc thinks but then she does the opposite of what she thinks???? what the fuck was that
the next thing is a personal taste but I HATE HATE HATE HATE with the heat of hell fire when mc fucks another person and in this book it's his BROTHER
this is just a mess and if I could give 0 stars i would

'Some people were destined to become doctors, lawyers, and politicians. I was destined to become an assassin'.

I still have mixed feelings about this book, first of all, this was a debut and in all honesty, it didn't feel like it is, the plotline showcases a prospect for the series. storyline-wise carried out flawlessly. immense characterization particularly the heroine Ophelia Aster, she's the combination of a psychopath and madness. as for Keiran Nightingale in my humble opinion, he had it coming, Ophelia do him a favor, he's a cheater, weak hero, and a prevaricator. The shock value was a bit unusual.

Ricochet (The Rapture #1) was undoubtedly dark and macabre, you will not find any remorse or moral compass within our characters. despite the minimal error in terms of redundancies and scantily descriptive internal monologue, everything turns out good, depiction, and narrative-wise.

“You’re Baba Yaga. Death, destruction.”

What in the actual BLOODY hell did I just read??? LK was not messing around when she decided to write her debut novel. She took a dark romance and then she turned it on its head 6 ways to Sunday.

This is not your typical dark romance. This is the story of Ophelia Aster, a woman who has been groomed into a life of crime, murder and secrets. She loves and hates Kieran Nightingale. Their love story was written in the stars... or was it destined for destruction?

“The two of us... We weren’t born to love. We were born to destroy.”

Ophelia is probably the most interesting character I have ever read about. She is all kinds of psycho and it made for some hilarious dialogue and blood soaked scenes. If you’ve ever seen Killing Eve, Ophelia is very much like Villanelle. Ophelia is sick of being told what to do by men who only want to own her. She’s a bad ass woman and she’s not taking shit anymore.

“I am tired of men telling me what to do. I am tired of men taking whatever they want without any consequences.”

This book is DARK. Don’t go into this expecting a little murder and blood play with a happy ending. This is the first book in a duet and it’s full of twists and turns!

I think LK did an amazing job on her first book and I can’t wait to see what her twisted mind will think up next.

Ricochet is the first book in The Rapture series. This is the story of Ophelia and Kieran. It isn't your typical love story and it most certainly does not have the happily ever after ending that most people are searching to find. This is about an all-consuming love that is not only toxic but also catastrophically tragic. Ophelia and Kiran have known each other their entire lives so it isn't a far stretch that they would end up in the situation sprung upon them by their families. Ophelia struggles with accepting her birth right, but once she finally does, it is delectably dark, beautiful and changes absolutely everything.

The relationship Ophelia and Kieran have with each other, it is hard to even find words to describe. It is powerful, raw, emotional, evisceral and extraordinarily intense. But what happens when betrayal is inserted into such an extrememtly emotional relationship with two people that are so absolutely dangerous, especially with one being a psychopathic assassin? It is said that there is a fine line between love and hate. When that line gets blurred, all bets are off and that love once felt is shifted into pure hatred and any lines left will be disregarded.

"𝐵𝑒𝑐𝑎𝑢𝑠𝑒 𝑝𝑎𝑖𝑛 𝑖𝑠 𝑎𝑙𝑙 𝑤𝑒 𝑤𝑖𝑙𝑙 𝑒𝑣𝑒𝑟 𝑘𝑛𝑜𝑤. 𝐼𝑡 𝑐𝑎𝑛 𝑠𝑒𝑡 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝑒."

Well damn, Ricochet is L.K Reid's debut novel and the first in her Rapture series and she certainly killed it. We meet Ophelia and Kieran, The relationship these two have is all consuming, toxic, broken and sad. Every page I read I had no idea what was going to happen next, the twists and turns just kept coming, it was raw, dark and intense.

If you like your books that have a HEA then this is not for you, There is a fine line between love and hate and I think we'll need to wait for Equilibrium to find out what's in store for Ophelia, But if you like your books full of betrayal, lust, darkness with multiple triggers then this is a must read.

Welcome to the world of Dark Romance L.K Reid, You've smashed it out of the ball park.

I love books where I can read about a true psycho/killer man but oh when it's a woman being that crazy psycho?? Girl that shit it's another level!! I can't ever say how much I loved this book and Ophelia, really this girl got me good and I'm starving for more of her being a total badass. I delayed my reading because it was said that this book would end in a cliffhanger and I'm glad that I did it because now book two it's almost here and I'm dying to read more about this storie

Multi-1st person POV - mostly from FMC, Ophelia
~1st reread: read back in 2021 before I used GR/posted reviews~

You guys, this is dark (CW: ) but so freaking good. I remember devouring the first 2 books and then waiting for what felt like AGES for book 3 to be released. Well it finally has been but now I've forgotten what happened so I'm rereading the first 2 books.

Reader Beware this book is dark. Our FMC has been trained as an assassin and she is RUTHLESS. Any emotion is tortured out of her and she becomes a weapon for the Syndicate to use. Book 1 follows her capture by her ex-fiancé and his brothers after not seeing them for 4 years because they think she did something absolutely abhorrent and have been tracking her with the intention of torturing and killing her for what she did. But, Ophelia is diabolical and revels in the pain they inflict while she's their captive. She's frustrated that they believed the lies about her so easily (and I was pissed at that too) but the tension of the captive/captor was palpable. There's some knife play and breath play and overall some kinky sex but not that much really. If I remember correctly book 2 has more... There's some flash backs to how things played out which led to Ophelia breaking things off with her fiancé but we still don't have the entire picture yet. Ends on a cliffhanger but book 2 is released and on KU as well. If you are particular about your H's, you may want to read the CW below. I remember being really frustrated with this part of the storyline.

Holy shit what a wild ride! My mind has been blown 🤯 LK Reid is a new to me author. After reading this deliciously dark read, she has a brand new loyal reader! The FMC is a badass who doesn’t put up with anyone’s shit! The Nightingale brothers are hot and crazy! This book took me on so many twist and turns I thought I was on a rollercoaster! I cannot wait for the next book! 10 star review ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

What did I just read? I DNF at 73%. I read a story about two people who have known each other since childhood but have a tortured relationship. There are so many reasons for them not to be together but they just can't help but love each other in spite of some REALLY fucked up stuff (tortured killers, past cheating, rape of a sibling, sexual intercourse with male character's twin, you know the regular things all couples go through). You hear OVER AND OVER AND OVER again through their internal dialogue about how much they can't help themselves or their feelings for each other, THEIR'S is a love that can't help but stand the test of time. EVEN DEATH can't put an end to the hold that they have on each other. OH BUT WAIT!!!!!!!!!!At over 70% of the book the heroine runs into ANOTHER guy from her past, WHO IT TURNS OUT is the real true love, she met the guy once after catching Keiran cheating and it was love at first sight. She was going to run away with him on his motorcycle after two hours together. And apparently the next book will be exploring that true love story. What? Why are you introducing a completely different love interest at the end of a dark romance novel? What was the point of me learning all of this back story between Ophelia and Keiran? What was the point of the Keiran having a POV if you're introducing a whole new love interest character this late in the game? Plus why would you have both Ophelia And Keiran go ON AND ON AND ON about their love to just be like SIKE, some motorcycle dude who Ophelia spent a few hours with four years ago is a greater love than her childhood crush turned adult relationship. And the second book is suppose to focus on her and the motorcycle dude. I'm so pissed. WHAT WAS the REASON? What was the reason for Ophelia and Keiran for the majority of the book but then throwing Storm in at the end?

Honestly, it would have been better to have her meet Storm in the present and fall in love. Having him be a PAST love while having Ophelia go on and on in the PAST and PRESENT about Keiran being the love of her life, the only light in her darkness was the wrong move. Either you were lying to the reader about Keiran being the love of her life or you're lying about how she feels about Storm.

What do you do when the things that go bump in the night have been around you you whole life?

Who do you become? Is it nature vs. nurture? It's both.

When the goal is so detrimental, sometimes we sell our soul over and over to reach the finish line. If there even is such finish line.

Ophelia and Kieran have this explosive relationship but not to be outdone she has explosive relationships with his brothers Cillian and Tristan (This is not RH).

This book tore into me and gripped me and never wanted to let go.

L.K. I need more STORM!!!! Please and Thank you!

Ricochet by L.K. Reid is dark assassin romance. This is the first book in the Rapture series.

This book does come with a caution “This book is not recommended for readers under 18 as it contains triggering scenes that some readers might find offensive.”

This is Leila’s debut novel and she knocked it out of the park. I was hooked from the first chapter and couldn’t wait to see what was going to happen next. There were so many twists and turns that kept me captivated until the very end. I really enjoyed that we got Kieran and Ophelia’s points of view throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.

The book does end on an amazing cliffhanger. I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book in the series Equilibrium that will be released on May 23, 2021.

I would highly recommend this book if you love dark romances, assassin romances, or romantic suspense. This is definitely one of my top reads so far this year!

3/5 Liked It

Ricochet (The Rapture #1) by L.K. Reid

Dark Mafia Romance

Awesome prologue where I just needed to know what was happening. This book messed with my emotions so bad. I had no idea if the hero was even suppose to be the hero Kieran or if I was suppose to be rooting for them. I did not feel their love for each other as it was just glimpses and more on Ophelia becoming the stone cold assassin. Loved her character a little crazy and watching her slowly become this way was well done. I loved Kill who is Kieran brother and just as crazy as her, but he was a secondary character. Storm I need more on him just not enough of the feelings to really know. That twist was all kinds of amazing . 3/5 Loved It

Wow. My first review of the year and its for an INCREDIBLE book. This story was a good one!!!! I loved this book SO much. The heroine was such a baddie. Ophelia definitely wrote the book on IDGAF-BADASS. I love how she started out so innocent (for maybe the first 3% of the story) and at that first taste of killing she embraced her inner darkness and it just took over completely. I also wasn't expecting to fall for more than one man. But let me say. I need some more of Storm. I am so intrigued by this man. I am so impressed with this authors writing and the fact that this is new writing, she dominated the dark aspect of this. I mean, I freaking loved it ALL!!!! And triggery! There was one part involving a child and I thought "wow this is intense!!!!"
I loved Kieran then hated him!!!! I loved the brothers. Then hated them!!! The sex. Especially with the brother was HOTTT. I need MORE. I cannot wait for another book. This was SO SO SO good. I just want to read it again! 5 stars for this new authors and this author will automatically be a one click for me after this.

Trope: dark romance, psycho
HEA: not sure how to answer this one
Cliffhanger: YES
POV: Dual
Book Score: 5

If I could describe “Ricochet” in two words, it would be deadly love.
Story of Ophelia and Kieran, damaged dark people pushed to the brink. Obsessed, possessed, revengeful, broken souls. I was constantly going through cycles of who I love or hate for pretty much every character. Can he be redeemed? Can she? This book was very dark and violent, so be warned. It has a bit of a horror thriller vibe to it as well.
I loved the twists and where the story went in the last portion of the book. And I love who is the love interest at the end of it (at least who I think the love interest is). I hold major grudge myself, so I understood Ophelia’s decision. I can’t say much more otherwise I will spoil the entire book 🤭🤐
Awesome debut by this author.

Wow. This book was heavy af. So much pain, so much death and blood. So much fucking hate, I could feel it bubbling underneath their skin. Ophelia. Her life, her upbringing, made her a killing machine. She's ruthless, so full of demons we can barely see her true self. She craves blood. She gets of on it. The sight, the smell, the feeling, it's her biggest addiction. That's what they created. A monster. And because of it, she's their biggest nightmare. Her love with Kieran was toxic. I didn't know if I should hate him or love him. He betrayed her, tortured her. It was tough reading some parts. I just wanted to shake or punch some sense into him and his brothers. They were so blind with grief and revenge, they didn't see the answer that was right underneath their noses. And because of it, they payed in blood. I'm still undecided about Storm. I can feel their connection for miles. He cares for her, he's protective of her. But he's he just another man wanting to control her? I don't really know, but I can't wait to know more about their story in the next book 🖤

Wow, right away we are thrown into a whirlwind of emotions, turmoil and epic craziness. With this being a debut novel I never would have expected a novel that we got. This dark romance will give you a new look at betrayal and revenge.

What I loved so much about this story is that it was so unique! I found myself screaming at the pages because I could not understand how the men could be so dumb, but as we see the damage is done and how will Ophelia take it in stride and over come it all.

I look forward to the next one and can’t wait to see what happens next!
