Guardian Dragons #5

A Dragon Savior

Rate this book
I have a responsibility to use my powers for good - and that means saving his life.

I don’t know where my special abilities came from. I was abandoned as a baby, and I grew up pretty rough in some of the riskier areas of Detroit. I was just some dumb kid before my powers manifested… but once they did, I knew I had a purpose.

They call me the Ghost of Detroit. I save people. Hunt down the bad guys. The night I found him, I thought I was seeing another gang deal go down. But it wasn’t. This was something more.

I don’t know what it is I’m stepping in, but I need to keep him safe. There’s this heat between us that I’ve never felt before. Like he’s the only thing that matters.

Omega’s Savior is the fifth book in the epic mpreg Guardian Dragons series. Featuring a sweet and steamy love story between an omega who doesn’t believe in super heroes and a dragon who doesn’t know what he is, this adventure romance will have you on the edge of your seat! While Omega’s Savior can be read as a standalone, it is best read as fifth in its series.

OMG! My favorite in the series!!!! A dragon who doesn't know he's a dragon takes the mantel of super hero!!!! I loved every second! From Collan's crime fighting badassary to the gorgeously awkward pull of attraction he feels for Jake. It's just so cute and exciting to see them stumble upon a world they don't know. They discover the Templars evil ways and the very good ways of knotting! This series keeps getting better and more action packed. Can't wait to read next book!

This was the highlight of the series for me. Both Collan and Jake don't know what they are and throughout the story they learn more about themselves, leading to the reveal of Collan as a dragon, where we left off in the previous story.

The bond they shared was sweet. They genuinely seemed to care for each other. Maybe the difference between their bond and Morgan and Tanner before them made it look like theirs was the stronger relationship, especially given their young ages. Collan liked to show his care for his mate with alway checking in with him, making sure he got enough rest etc.

Everything is ramped up for the finale and after the bombshell at the end of this, I'm looking forward to it.

I wasn’t sure...

I love this series, but I wasn’t sure about the two characters being so young. I was kind of digging the old all the dragons and young Omega storylines..
it worked though. Very good book.

Spoiler....

I feel like I missed something though. With all of the ancients at the ranch at the end of the book I feel like there’s something missing between book 4 and 5...
The book also seem to end very abruptly. I wanted to hear more about what happened to Collon s parents.
Hopefully book Six will have the answers

I couldn’t really finish this book.
In part, not the author’s fault but mine. I am not big into reading or watching shows about vigilantes or/and superheroes. It’s just not my thing; never has been.

The second thing is that this book varies quite a bit from the original “recipe” that it kinda feels like a spin-off in the same universe. I don’t know. I can’t settle in it.

A dragon & a sacred omega who don't know what they are, brought together by Fate. Ya gotta love it!

What a new twist on the Guardian Dragons series. Old friends appear, along with enemies, old & new. Two former fosters, ignorant of their backgrounds, manage to find each other... fated mates. What a rush. There is danger, violence, loyal friends, steamy sex, knotting, bonding, new powers, dragons, and mpreg. What's not to love?
This is Jake and Collan's story. Jake is still in college. His best friend, Lisa, is convinced the vigilante "The Ghost of Detroit" is real. Jake doesn't believe her, until the Ghost saves him after he is kidnapped. Collan found himself with powers he didn't understand. But he uses then to try and stop the gangs and bring peace to the neighborhoods. He can't understand what is it that pulls him to Jake, but he has to have him... forever. Jake feels the pull too. Physically, emotionally, psychicly.
Aware that they are being hunted, Collan & Jake try to avoid being captured, while figuring out how they are bound to each other.
Yes, the Templars are involved. Yes, Collan finds his dragon. He also finds out he's not the only one. Jake finds out he can get pregnant. And that being bonded to a dragon isn't that bad.
Come join in their journey to HEA. It's not easy, and not complete. This is a series. Their story is continued in the next book (which I can't wait to read! ). Please read the first four books. Get drawn into the fascinating world Aiden & Jill have created. You won't want to leave. I loved this book!
This book contains adult themes and language, violence, mm sex, and is intended for mature readers only.

Omega’s Savior is the fifth book in the Guardian Dragon series by author Aiden Bates and Jill Haven. This series is best read in order. The politics and world building are necessary to understand this story’s plot.
This is Collan’s and Jake’s story.
This book is choppy. I am not a huge fan of time jumps. This one starts three years before book four when Collan is 16. He finds out through a fight he has superpowers.
Then we meet Jake again two weeks before book four starts. Collan has been on the superhero gig for three years now. He knows he cannot tell people who he is and what he can do. It would put them in danger.
I will say what was jarring about this story verses all the others, the tone of this story is vastly different from the others in this series. The political climate is also confusing. It is like the authors were trying to have this book be totally different and it feels out of place.
I felt like something was missing from book four to this story.
Jake doesn’t think the ghost of Detroit is real. He thinks it is a hoax. But then he gets kidnapped and everything changes for him.
This is a great story. But in the entire series it just doesn’t fit. So I would say yes read this one but know it has a drastically different feel to it than all the other books in the series.

I definitely feel that a reader would get a lot more out of this book, if the previous 4 have been read - but it could probably stand on its own.

For a reader who has read and liked the previous ones, then this should be a good choice. The author keeps all the essential elements of the series, but has managed (so far) to make each couple and their circumstances unique. This one is especially different in multiple ways, but it never loses its focus. They do not feel as cookie cutter as many series do. The overall storyline has progressed in each - as more and more questions are being answered and some of the various story threads are starting to tie together.

I found the premise of this one interesting, possibly even more so than with the last one. The author has taken the time to lay a foundation during the development of the series that should lead to a satisfying resolution and conclusion- which as a reader, I really appreciate. I dislike resolutions that seem forced, too easy, or sudden due to a lack of foreshadowing and development.

It's a nice, stronger than average, m/m series - that is entertaining. I will most definitely move directly on to the last in this series.

Though I did enjoy this story, it felt like a giant detour away from the main plotline of this series. From the superhero angle to the younger main characters who had no idea what they were, this story felt strangely separate from everything else going on. Don't get me wrong, Collan and Jake were incredibly sweet together, and it was a refreshing change to see a virgin dragon with a more experienced omega. The pacing was great, the storyline was nicely written, and there was plenty of satisfying action and adventure, but the tone of this story was very different from the other books. I'm also not sure I like that Collan is some sort of "chosen one" with a big dragony destiny--it feels very unsatisfying to have this random character swoop in and be expected to save the day when I've come to love the dragons on the ranch so much. Unlike the other books in this series, I think this book could be read as a standalone because it's so distant from the ranch plotline until the very end.

**I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this series. This review expresses my honest thoughts and opinions.

I love this series, but this time it just didn't work for me.
This story is different than previous books, everything is more mysterious and it seems like no one understands what's going on. The Omega - Dragon pull seemed more real, believable but for some reason I didn't like MCs. Maybe they are too young?

All in all, this is definitely not what I had expected. MCs get to the Comfort and meet all characters from the series in the last chapters and there is a huge surprise for everyone in the end. This is not a bad story, it is an okay read, I just expected something different, something more similar to other books - old dragon and an omega who needs to be rescued or kidnapped. The idea of a shape-shifter trying to save a world is really nice (I mean, wouldn't it be great!?)

The story is well written, but the writing style is slightly different than before. It is fast paced and there is a lot of new characters and the same organization trying to save the world from dragons.

* I received an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review *

I have been saying all along in this series that one of the top things I like about it is that information about how this world works now, its history, legends, politics and feuds is not just dumped out in chunks but delicately scattered through each book like puzzle pieces. Well this book really tested that premise because it isn't clear who these guys are, what is going to happen with them, why they are drawn together and what is going on with those at the ranch. I loved it! I liked the non-sequential time and the fact that the authors trusted their readers to be intelligent enough to follow the story and figure some things out. The world feels more modern and real here than in the previous volumes. The Ghost kind of reminded me of the Andrew Vachss novels where there were avengers out there in a gritty, urban landscape that you didn't totally understand. The hot romance continues as always. Only one more book to go, can't wait to read it but will be very sad to see this series end.

Jake suddenly finds himself the victim of a kidnapping. Who would want to kidnap a 19 year old college student on scholarship?
Collan, a young man, orphaned, raised by strangers, develops powers he can't explain. He only knows his role in life if to do good and help as many people as he can. So he prowls the streets, an unlikely super hero.
When Collan interrupts what seems to be a drug deal gone wrong, only to find a kidnapped young man, he knows he needs to protect him.

So starts the story of Jake and Collan. Fast paced and well written like all the others in the series. It was nice to see a very young dragon get together with an equally young man, rather than the typical much older dragon/young omega story.

Exciting

4.5☆
Collan has strong abilities and a need to protect people but has no idea who or what he truly is. Jake is an intelligent university student and has no idea he is anything other than human. Their meeting is the beginning of a lot of dangerous encounters, shocking revelations, steamy passion, a genuine connection, and a sweet, die for you love.
This story is exciting and grabs your attention right from the start. The main characters are personable and well developed, the storyline is unique and ties in nicely with the other books in this series, and it ends with a cliffhanger that has you eager for the next book.

I think this is my favourite so far in the series

It just felt satisfying. Collan was abandoned as a baby, which is something to which I can relate. Jake grew up in foster care. Neither is equipped for the changes they are experiencing. Then there is Lena of the Templars who taunts them about their nature, which is rather a harsh way to learn that one is a dragon and the other is pregnant. It is still hard for me to suspend disbelief on that one, so I have to remind myself that dragon magic is involved. Odd that I find it easier to suspend disbelief about magic than male pregnancy. Anyway, Lena really needs to die(horribly).

An important addition to the series

This book was great but feels very different from the rest of the series. Collan, for one thing, is a VERY young dragon that doesn’t know what he is. He and Jake mate without knowing the ramifications of what they’re doing. Most of the book is about them being confused about what they are and what’s going on or action sequences. I feel like this book is a lot more about setting up certain plot points for the overall story than the relationship between Collan and Jake, though. I’m super looking forward to the next book!

Ah! I love it!

It's a risky move to veer so far from the direction of a series as this story does. It definitely keeps to the Gardian Dragons canon, but it's a very tangential installment of the series. And it absolutely works! The deviation keeps the series fresh & perfectly fits into the series storyline. So well written! These authors have done such a good job of pulling me in further & further with each book. It takes a lot of skill to keep me from losing interest by the fourth book of a series & I'm excited for the sixth of the Guardian Dragons!

It grew on me

Okay so eventually the difference in Collan and Jake’s story compared to the other grew on me. It was interesting to see such a young dragon flopping around. What pissed me off though is the ending. I wanted more from them after they meet up with everyone else and it just ends just as it’s finally coming together and now will switch to another couple. The pacing was off. I wish they had gotten to the ranch sooner. I don’t like that we won’t see more from their perspective especially since Collan is apparently important.

Lots of answers here. Best to read these stories in order. Mr Bates keeps raising the bar with each series he starts. Collan meets Jake when they are both 19. For whatever reason, Jake is kidnapped and Collan saves him. This story approaches the series from a perpendicular angle. The character development and the supportive characters are well laid out. This story ties everything together. Jake and Collan are great guys and mature, with not a lot of superficial nonsence to cloud their story. Excellent read. Can't wait until the last story. Well done!

I found this completely enchanting.

The narrator overdid his job in parts, his voice booming where he found it important, but I still loved this listen. It's not often you find a dragon shifter who has no clue he's a shifter, then an omega who thinks he's a normal human, who find each other. And not just that, it's like the start of a comic book with super hero powers and a man saving the city. I loved the fluffiness of it and how well the MC's communicated with each other.

The end was a cliffhanger, but not in a terrible way! I just need to keep going with the series!

Children having babies is just not my thing. Beyond that, I struggled to connect with these characters. I didn’t feel like there was any character development. I stuck with this one because I wanted to know what their contribution to the overall series arc was, but I kind of wish I’d just skipped it because it was not a book for me, and the last chapter or two were the only ones that explained their part in the overall arc. If YA books with A/O sex thrown in is your thing, you’ll probably enjoy this.

Mixed Emotions

This was definitely a new plot twist from Aiden Bates. There have been many instances of one of a pair not knowing their true identity, but this was a first because both characters did not know who they were. Well done!
That said, the story is left open and unresolved at book’s end and while the reader is given hints I was left unsatisfied. Maybe book 6, if we are lucky?

The fifth book in the Guardian Dragons series by Aiden Bates and Jill Haven, this book continues the overall series arch but also delivers it's own lovestory. This one is fun, funny, sweet and interesting. Well written, great world building and fantastic, relateable characters that you just start to really like. The story is a bit different than the rest in the series but no less fantastic. Definitely recommend.

An unknown dragon

This time around we are with a man Collen who doesn't know he's a dragon, just that he had some abilities, so he becomes a superhero which puts him on the path to meet Jake a man hunted by Templars.

This was an interesting segway in the series to bring in some new characters and maybe herald in the inevitable final showdown, making this an interesting read. Can't wait for the next book.

Good book

This was a nice book. It had a lot of action, was fast paced and sweet at times.

I liked Collan and Jake. They are both nice, sweet, clueless, and the chemistry between is hot.
I quite enjoyed their story but it felt like something was missing compared to the other books.
The overall plot was interesting in this book as you see it from a completely different angle and it pulled new threads of the story forward.

I can't wait to read book 6 and see how this all ends

This is the fifth book in The Guardian Dragons Series. A fascinating book with good writing. The plot was entertaining and it was steady throughout the book. I found the story and characters great. The characters were developed and thought out. Jake and Collan are the MC’s of this book. I can recommend this book as a good read. Loving this series more and kore

The cast of characters grows, the enemy is too close. When a poor boy discovers new talents, he has no idea what he's in for. Discovering a Male that is his compliment makes things even odder. Can they find their way together?
What a great story and fun ride!

I loved it!!

This book is different from the others in this series but that's part of what makes it amazing. It's about two young men who don't really know what they are and their journeyto find out. I loved they way they worked together to try and figure out what makes them different. This book was awesome and I can't wait for the next one.

Another great add to the series. Jake and Collan's story is up next with action and another intense couple who have a attraction that can't me beat. With each book we get more and more of the Universe which I love. Exciting adventures and at the core is two men who overcome so much to be together. Can't wait for the next.
