The Pippa Effect

Rate this book
In a world ruled by money and power, Philippa "Pippa" Browning "sings" her own song where love has the power to change lives. Tucked away in the IT department of Monroe Enterprises for the past seven years, Pippa is unexpectedly thrust into the role of interpreter for visiting Chinese business moguls. Suddenly immersed in the intrigue of multi-national high powered corporations, her gestalt comes into direct conflict with Adam Monroe, CEO and heir to the Monroe fortune who, forced to take up the reins of Monroe Enterprises when his father absconded, bitterly runs his company fairly yet with cold precision. Undeterred, Pippa draws from her childhood experiences amongst state department diplomats and her family's passion for world peace to shine her powerful light of love on the jaded and bitter world of corporate America causing Adam to rethink his somewhat harsh business tactics and broken familial relationships. But even a beacon as strong as Pippa's needs tending, and when the trauma of her past threatens to snuff out her light, Adam and the people closest to her must step in to remind her that love still wins.

Inspired by Robert Browning's dramatic poem, Pippa Passes, The Pippa Effect presents a modern day re-telling of the timeless theme where one person's love and positive outlook forever changes the lives of people passing by.

This was a really fun book! I loved the characters. Pippa is a heroine who inspires you to love others, and just be kinder all around. As Pippa experiences hardships, you'll feel sad for her. I thought this one was very readable, and I enjoyed it right from the start! Be sure to check this one out!!

Pippa works as an IT girl at Monroe Enterprises. She is charming and seems to have such a love for all around her. Adam Monroe is the Ceo and Heir to the company. He's brutal and cold with the way he runs the company. When Adam is about to have a meeting with potential business partners from Beijing, his hired interpreter realizes that they are speaking in Cantonese and not Mandarin. To Adams surprise, Pippa can understand what these men are saying. She became fluent in Cantonese and Mandarin as well as English, as her father was a US Ambassador, and she has lived abroad throughout her life. She warns Adam that all is not as it seems with the men from this Hu-Wang company, and tells him he must be careful. He's so impressed with Pippas language abilities, he offers her a job working as his personal assistant and interpreter. Eventually, as her troubled past starts to change her, and he notices that she's not the peppy, happy girl that she was, Adam must take it upon himself to to bring her happiness back!!

The Pippa Effect soothes the soul and encourages readers to embrace the fullness of their humanity. Reminiscent of Pride & Prejudice in some ways, this modern romance recounts a serendipitous – yet surprising – merging of souls. Pippa Browning and Adam Monroe are an unlikely pair, but they connect in their “broken places” and find intimacy within imperfection.

Corporate America finds its palpable beating heart as the reader is swept into Pippa’s “light.”
Zanders designed a beautifully simple yet complex story that feels hopeful in dark times and reminds us to keep faith in the restorative power of love.

This beautiful story captures the lives of complex and compelling characters, and paints how the actions of one can affect and influence many in meaningful and unexpected ways.

I truly believe "The Pippa Effect" can teach us all about ourselves, and how our light can spread far beyond those we've shone on personally. Simple acts of kindness and caring can make a world of difference, and understanding can open the door to forgiveness and rekindled relationships, even with those who have deeply hurt us in the past.

Highly recommend!

A terrific read!

Each character evolves through the narrative, warts and all, and help advance the arch of the telling. This book brings light and love to the forefront of life choices and decisions. I am eager to see these characters in future books.

Pick it up and enjoy!
