When a violent gang re-organizes, an undercover cop could lose everything…including the woman he loves.

Following a gang war, the undercover cop known as Patriot is forced to flee his hometown and assume a new identity. When the gang re-organizes and threatens a friend, Patriot—now a firefighter—returns to face them.

Chloe Swearingen confines herself to the fast pace of the ER and away from interpersonal relationships—for a reason she keeps to herself. But when she helps save a gangster’s life, she’s thrown into a cauldron of relationships from which she can’t escape.

Then a series of fires target Chloe, her church and her friends, and she and Patriot must risk their lives to bring an end to the forces of darkness arraigned against them.

“But it was that ease and that vulnerability that cinched his desire to know her more, to let her know the truth. She ran to save people, gave grace when none was due. How could he do less?”

This is my first book by the author and it was a unique and interesting novel with plenty of suspense and spiritual warfare. It is book 3 in the series that also crosses over with her previous series so there was some background info that I seem to have missed but the book can be read as a stand alone. The series looks like it has been dealing with gangs and restoration of those trapped in addiction so it was wonderfully encouraging and refreshing to see a church ministry focused on helping those out of prison embrace their fully forgiven life. The situations and emotions are raw, gritty, and real as ER nurse Chloe and former law enforcement officer Patriot/Travis dodge possible attacks from a gang and their church becomes victim of multiple bouts of arson. Through it all, the church’s prayer warriors form a shield around God’s people and enter the battle. If you enjoy romantic suspense with a good dose of spiritual warfare, you will definitely enjoy this book and the series.

I thoroughly enjoyed this short novel. Rodante is a master at creating a plot that contains engaging characters, spiritual warfare, forgiveness and restoration, action and suspense, the power of prayer, a good romance, and an excellent gospel message.

I like the idea of a church having a ministry where ex-convicts and ex-gang members are helped to get their lives in order to live well. I liked the plot including a pushy church donor who thought he could tell them what to do. I really liked the group of prayer warriors. I liked the married couples and their well crafted relationship interactions. I like the characters too. Chloe and Travis, the main characters, had hurts in their past they had to deal with before they could move on to God's best for them.

I really liked this novel. It has an exciting plot, engaging characters, good examples of faithful Christian living, and a great gospel message.

I received a complimentary digital copy of this book through Celebrate Lit. My comments are an independent and honest review.

This is the third book of the Spiritual Warfare series and it is very inspirstional.
We see a church community band together to help and provide guidance while donning the armor of God to take up the fight against Satan and his minions.
The storyline and the characters were awesome.
This book is recommended for those who love the Lord and fight the good fight.

This book is an adrenaline rush from beginning to end. I felt my heart beat faster the more I got into the story. The author does a good job of presenting characters that are faith filled and determined to stand against the enemy. I remember reading this one time when I was having a hard time, “If you have done all you can do, then stand.”
I liked reading how a church opened their hearts up and invited a group that was lost, unloved, dangerous and in need of spiritual warfare . We as the body of Christ are to reach out to everyone including the ones that have turned their back on God. I love how the church has a ministry that reaches out to ex gang members. You can see the change in those were are willing to surrender to God and change their lives. The presence of prayers warriors in the story brings power that will fight against the enemy who tries to deceive people.
The story deals with white supremacy, gangs and spiritual warfare. The character that stood out the most to me was Miss Eleanor. This woman has been on her knees crying out to God everyday for people and her compassion is undeniable. To me she is the heartbeat of the story as she intercedes for others.
There is no lack of danger in the story as an undercover cop exposes the ugliness of a gang and takes them on in a battle that draws a line in the sand. The author does an excellent job of exposing the enemy in this story and uses characters to fight a spiritual war that will leave you breathless. I love when an author takes a story and exposes the ugliness of sin. Will truth and wisdom prevail or will the enemy consume those who are weak and without faith?
I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.

Fire, by Linda K Rodante, is book three in the Spiritual Warfare series. Even though this is part of a series, it makes a great stand alone story as well. I have not read the first two books in the series and did not have any issues connecting with the story. Chloe and Patriot (Travis) meet one morning while she is jogging in an area where a man is shot. Travis was an undercover cop that has returned to town to testify in a gang trial. Chloe works in the local ER. Chloe and Travis are connected to a church that helps ex-convicts and ex-gang members get back on their feet. Their church has come under fire from the outside world, literally.

This is such a good book. There is mystery and suspense with mild clean romance. The story is full of action that never stops. There are several things that stand out to me in this story. When the church suffers from the fires, a member in the construction trade helps to work up rebuilding plans and pushes for the new build to be what he wants. The story gives the impression he is doing this for his gain, not for the church's best interest. The pastor is such a loving person, just reading the story you can feel the love he offers. I like how this story shows that a church is there to heal and help everyone.  People were not looked down upon or expected to get their lives in order  before attending.

I received an e-book copy of this story from Celebrate Lit. This is my honest review.

There is a belief and a saying amongst Christians that "the devil attacks when he is unhappy with what you are doing. More attacks means  you must be inline with your walk with the Lord." Because if you are doing what the devil wants (anything God does not) then there is no reason for him to attack you.And when your church is in gang territory you know that you must keep your people safe and praying. That is exactly what Pastor Alan & Assist. Pastor Reece have been doing. After Patriot called Reece to let him know what he heard over the phone with GreasePaint, the fact that a gang fight may start momentarily, he implored Reece to keep his people inside.
Patriot could not believe this was happening again. He had just returned and was staying low until he had to testify but he could not turn his back on his friend GreasePaint  when he heard the screams  while talking to him on the phone, he hung up called Reece and notified him then presented himself to the leader of the gang since he was the one that J-beck really wanted. At the same time a woman was on her daily jog around the pond where all of this was taking place behind the church, Patriot started waving his arms & hands at the woman to tell her to stay back but she either did not realize or was ignoring him. Then GreasePaint ended up shot & in the pond. Both Patriot and the woman reached him and brought him out of the pond.Chloe just wanted to take her morning jog but when she heard the screams and saw the man go into the water she just reacted and met the guy at the pond that had been waving his arms wildly a moment ago. They got the man out of the water and she began applying pressure on the wound. Reece then showed up next to them and told them that the ambulance and police are on their way at the same moment they all heard the sirens. While at the hospital both Chloe & Patriot kept thinking (silently) how crazy the other one was to put themselves in the middle of danger. They each knew that they could handle it but thought the other one was nuts with maybe a dash of courage. But there was definitely a spark of interest on both sides.
I have read all three books in this series and enjoyed each one independent of each other and together as the series. Thank you Ms. Rodante for allowing me to be apart of your early readers, "Street team". I did not want this book to end and I cried at the end. Happy tears!

This was a short book but it was completely packed full. It is also in a series but I haven't read the previous books and had no trouble following the plot, it can be read as a stand alone. I loved that it caught my attention at the very start and didn't let it slip.
The spiritual warfare was what stood out to me. It was very well written. The church and all the issues it was having were heavy and the fact that church members may or may not be working for their best interest instead of God's. The romance was there and good. All around, this was a really good book.
4/5.

Thank you to the author/publisher for the review copy of this book. I received this book in exchange for an honest review and the opinions stated above are 100% mine.

What a suspenseful tale!  This is a great book that will keep you reading.  This is the third book in a series.  I have not read the first two but don't feel that I'm completely in the dark from not having read the other two but I do occasionally wonder about things and if maybe the backstories would be in the first two books.

This is a new to me author and I have to say I will be following her and reading more of her works in the future.  Starting with books one and two of this series!

This book has suspense and it has passion.  It also has a strong Christian base which is wonderful when you're reading a book.  You're going to see some hot topic issues being discussed as well but that is done with grace and the books reads better for it.

Definitely a book, an author, and a series that I recommend.  Now I'm off to read the rest!

I’m finding myself drawn to spiritual warfare books almost with an obsessive need to see deeper into this subject. Fire is one of the few novels I’ve read that allows me a direct look into what people might face and how they might overcome spiritual warfare.

The characters are honest, vulnerable, and expertly written. I could spend all day with Patriot, just to hear the stories he harbors and the insights he might give.

The prejudice against the men and women who have turned their lives around struck a deep chord of reality and made me sit back and think about the labels we place on people because of things they’ve done in the past.

Loved this book. It is part of a series, but I have not read the previous books. I was able to pick up Fire and read without any context of the other novels, but I do wish I’d read them first simply so I would know these characters better.

Fire is the first book I have read by Linda K Rodante. It is, also, the third installment from her Spiritual Warfare series. Even though it is part of a series, I feel as though it can be read as a stand alone. I did not feel like I was missing anything by not reading the others. I thought this book was a pretty good. It had a lot that I like to read in a book: mystery, suspense, romance, action, danger and inspiration. I did not find the story to be predictable and I was engaged most of the time.

I am giving Fire four stars. I think readers who like to read clean contemporary romantic suspense will want to read this one. I would love to read more by this author, as well as, the other books from the Spiritual Warfare series.

I received Fire from the publisher. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.

In Fire, a friend from the past joins Reese and Katie in their fight for freedom and justice. Together, they face their hardest battle as they go head to head with gang leaders and unseen forces.

This is the third and final chapter of this series, and it was well worth the wait. While being introduced to new characters, the reader becomes better acquainted with old friends from the previous stories. The emotional side of this story was relatable. Through the lives of her characters, the author showed love, compassion, and prayer can truly make a difference. I think it's Rodante's best!

Oh my heart. I am still recovering from this powerful book (and from sobbing at the end lol). And I know that this series is about so much more than romance but I gotta say that Patriot is one swoony hero & the sparks going off between him and Chloe?? Whew. Keep a fan handy! (My fave romance of the series, hands down!)

In Fire, the last three years have been relatively quiet as far as gang warfare goes. New Life Church has made great progress in their work with former gang members, and everyone seems to be breathing easier. Luis, Reece, Katie, Miss Eleanor, Becca and other familiar faces are moving on with life and ministry without always feeling like they are waiting for the next shoe to drop. And then it does…calling these prayer warriors back to full alert.

One of the characters who intrigued me most in Roar was Patriot, and I was delighted that he factors prominently in Fire. I loved the instant attraction he shares with Chloe, the flirty side of him that she brings out, the warmth in his face & voice when he’s around her. He is just as layered as Luis or Reece, for slightly different reasons, and did I mention how swoony he is? We also spend a lot more time with Rich & Lynn, and we get some insight into Rich’s past and his family – which makes a lot of things make so much more sense. Once again, Rodante keeps each of these characters (and Chloe too) from becoming a stereotype, and instead reminds us that there is almost always more to the story than what may first appear on the surface.

Bottom Line: Fire is another breathless suspense novel from Linda K. Rodante – with some breathless (and grin-inducing) romance too. (Those kisses!!) But at the heart of this page-turner is an important message for believers – we are in a battle that is not against flesh and blood enemies; we are fighting a spiritual war and it requires spiritual weapons. This book hit me in all the feels. I chuckled, I grinned, I swooned (often), I cried (a lot), and I almost started praying for some of the characters haha! This has been such a captivating series which spoke to my heart as much as it entertained me. It’s almost like In His Steps meets War Room meets a romantic suspense novel. While each book could technically be read as stand alones, I highly recommend starting with Warrior and reading all three!

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6:10–12 KJV

The importance—and power—of spiritual warfare rises to the front in this gripping story. Whether prayer or discernment or taking action, Ms. Rodante knows her stuff, and brings spiritual Truth to light in her stories.
Whether hiding behind a façade of indifference like Chloe, or a false identity like Patriot, Holy Spirit not only sees who we are but knows our needs and draws us from our cocoon—our comfort zone; He calls us to our purpose.
Double entendre is a favorite literary device of this reader, and the title of this book is quite a heated one. The utter and sheer destruction of a blazing fire brings images of charred timbers and heaps of ashes and blistered flesh.
But fire also purges, as with precious metals, removing impurities. Even more so Holy Fire upon the heart of the believer.
Ms. Rodante has portrayed this in her story, the juxtaposition of destruction against the cleansing of Holy Spirit.
The story is packed with a plethora of storylines and threads, with characters whose lived intertwine, and with clashing action and palpable emotion. While I felt the story jumped from scene to scene, it did not detract from the battle that rages, both on the page and around us.
Once again, Ms. Rodante had scripted an inside look at the very real spiritual battle we all face. She “gives us Truth in her stories, the Truth that is written from Genesis to the Book of Revelation. The Truth that this life is spiritual and not flesh only” (taken from my review of Warrior, 16 October 2018)

My review today is on the Contemporary Christian Romantic Suspense, Fire. This is book three in the series Spiritual Warfare. I really enjoy Linda's books and I'm always thrilled when the next one comes out. This one didn't let me down, it is awesome! The story is well written, action packed, and full of faith. It definitely shows the battle between good and evil. I know you are going to love this one.

Patriot, (Travis) was an undercover cop. He broke up a white supremacy gang but almost died. He now lives in Denver and is a firefighter. He comes back to Florida to testify against the gang members. Today he is back to save his friend GreasePaint. He's to meet J-beck at the church. He called Reese, the Assistant Pastor and tells him to keep everyone inside. As he arrives he calls out to J-beck but a woman drives up to the jogging trail. He yells for her to leave but before he can do anything J-beck comes out of hiding and throws GreasePaint into the pond. Shots ring out and sirens squeal. He goes after his friend but the mud makes it difficult. The woman comes in the water to help him. She asks for his shirt and tries to stop the bleeding of multiple stab wounds.

ER Nurse Chloe Swearingen went out to the church property for a run. She rushes in to help the man save the other man that has been thrown into the pond. He has multiple knife wounds. When they arrive at the hospital she gets them both scrubs. She tells Reese and Patriot that he will live. The police are now their and want to talk to her. Patriot reads her the riot act for putting herself in danger. She is not impressed with the arrogant man. His friend would have died if she hadn't helped.

A difficult journey as J-beck tries to rebuild a gang by taking the lives of the three men that broke up the original gang. He will use anything to destroy them and cares less about collateral damage. God has a plan for these two and the church; a plan for a hope and a future. God has a plan for you too, a good plan and not for evil. Even in this trying time we live in God can make a way for you and your loved ones. Give Him your heart and watch Him turn your world around.

Fire gives us a look at what could happen when a church goes under attack due to some of its members. Members such as a police officer and an ex-gang member.

This story starts out rather hotly and shows characters like Chloe who refuse to back down when there is danger. The author shows how well a church can work in the community, even when some of the church's policies are not favored. Even with those in the church.

Prayer was a big subject. Not preachy in anyway but they needed God's protection and help when they were going against people who did not care for anyone and only wanted to fuel their sense of revenge and feed their evil desires. I appreciated the Bible verses at the beginning of the chapters that helped move the story along.

Not only is the church family going through a trial, but the individuals (which we get to know a few of them) are also dealing with a lot of personal stuff. From infertility, guilty pasts, current temptations, and even attempted suicides. This was a very human look at a church doing God's work and fighting a real spiritual battle.

I was provided a copy of this novel from the author. I was not required to post a positive review and all views and opinions are my own.

A violent gang re-organizes. An undercover cop known as Patriot (Travis) could lose everything when he faces the gang. Chloe Swearingen helps save a gangster’s life, then is thrown into a cauldron of relationships from which she can’t escape. A series of fires target Chloe, her church, and her friends. She and Patriot must risk their lives to bring an end to the forces of darkness arraigned against them.

This book is filled with real-life people working out their faith. Also packed with Bible verses that build faith. A win-win. The plot is tense with ever-present danger and a budding relationship. Love ignites during tough situations. The question lingers throughout the book: Will Chloe and Travis get together?

Wonderful to see positive actions in a negative world. The church under fire, literally and spiritually, steps up to fight the darkness. Pastor Allen, not perfect, proclaims the powerful word and gives the command, "charge forward." Bad things happen to Christians, but God causes all things to work towards good. I felt the presence of God throughout the story, growing stronger as I neared the end of the book. So good an ending. 5-Star Read.

I have read several of this author's books and have always enjoyed every single one of them. This book is the 3rd book in the spiritual warfare series. While I have not read the other two, I did not have any problems following along. The author brings biblical truth to modern day. In this book Chloe Swearingen enjoys working in the fast pace of the ER. However, she is thrown into suspense when she helps save a gangster's life. After that Patriot (an undercover cop who has had to get a new identity as a firefighter) and Chloe are literarlly putting out fires that have consumed her life.

I love the modern retelling of a Bible story. It helps bring it more into perspective. The author has written amazing characters, they are real feeling, have flaws and I can see myself in them. The storyline is full of action and suspense. (I could hear my heart pounding while I read). This book has Faith, Love, and Suspense all in one!

This is the third in Linda K. Rodante’s Spiritual Warfare series, and I’ve read all three. As anticipated Linda has written a tightly-plotted, fast-paced book. Characters from the first two novels appear as well as some new ones, with the story being told from multiple points of view, offering a rich, multi-faceted plot. The relationships of the three main couples are complex and realistic as they struggle with their day-to-day personal issues and those of their church family. The people are somewhat flawed which makes them relatable rather than unlikeable. Prayer is an integral part of the story as each character tries to come to terms with living out their faith in the face of physical and spiritual danger. Difficult topics such as infertility, prejudice, and attempted suicide are handled sensitively and gave me much food for thought. Even though Fire is part of a series, it can easily be read as a standalone. Highly recommended.

I recommend reading this series "Spiritual Warfare" in order as "Fire" by Linda K Rodante is the third in the series. I also think if you don't read the others you will still enjoy each book as a standalone. I just think reading them in order gives the background because all three have some of the main characters. All three books have plots with characters, that are real, spiritual warfare, forgiveness and restoration, action and suspense, the power of prayer, romance, and the gospel message.

Yes, these books deals with gangs and drugs and crime but the author writes without a lot of graphic details, I wasn't tempted at all to put the books down and stop reading because I had to know what was going to happen next.

After reading this series I definitely want to read her other series.

I was given a contemporary copy by the author and Celebrate Lit and they opinions are my own.

Be an Eleanor

Miss Eleanor is a soldier for the Lord and she is training others to be one too. @Linda K Rodent out did herself again. If you are born again in Christ Jesus then you had an Eleanor in your life if you knew it or not . It is our responsibility to train up the next generation of soldiers for Christ. I had many Eleanor's in my life and now I am one it's important for the body of Christ to understand that we don't fight Flesh and Blood but principalities. If we don't train people up then nobody will in the next generation won't know how to fight the war that the enemy is fighting God has the answer in Jesus Christ Our Lord and Savior the Holy Spirit will guide us in each and every way so thank you Linda for your following of the holy spirit in writing the books that you have written

I had mixed feelings about this book. The primary storyline involves spiritual warfare, which is an important topic that isn't covered in enough Christian fiction books, but... there were some things in this book that bothered me as a conservative Bible believer (i.e. women deacons, dancing in Church, boldly challenging Satan [Jude 1:9: “Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.” KJV]., emphasis added.)

If you lean charismatic or liberal in your faith, this book might be for you. It was well-written and edited. Just not my cup of tea.

Wow! What a Story!

This book picks up three years after the previous one. It's just as power-packed, but I think it kept me more on the edge of my seat than the last one. I love the way the characters interact with each other. I could root for them and hope they would do the right thing. I've known too many people like Dennis (and have been like him at times, myself) and not enough people like Ms. Eleanor, who reminds me of my grandma. I ended up in tears during the last chapter. I'd recommend this book to anyone looking for a suspense romance that's more suspense than romance. I'd also recommend it to those looking for good, solid inspirational fiction.

Clean, Christian Romantic Suspense.

This series is a great, fast paced one with mystery and suspense, clean romance and the life of the church a focus of the stories. I really enjoyed the story line of the church reaching out with God's love to those that "could" be considered unlovable.

I didn't necessarily agree with every (nitty gritty) scriptural interpretation in the story, but it that did not leave a negative impression. In fact it was written in a way that those disagreements aren't an issue. And there was much that will challenge and draw one close to knowing God more.

This is best read in series order but can be read as a standalone.

BRILLIANT! I enjoyed following along as Detective Rich Richards investigates a violent gang. The danger and suspense kept me engaged in the story. I so appreciate the spiritual truths woven throughout. Fire is a fast-paced, heart pounding conclusion to the series.

I was blessed to be able to read this book a bit early before the publication. This is the third installment of her Spiritual Warfare series. Fire is a fast paced novel with rich characters. I love how Linda digs into the spiritual warfare that surrounds all of us. This story has characters with grit, brains, brawn, and beauty. The female and male characters are strong and act the way real people do. Men would also like this read. I highly recommend this book and Warrior and Roar for all ages. Grab another copy for your teens as well as your mother and father.

There were so many things I loved about this book. The characters were all distinct. And the hero and heroine were very likeable and yet real. The dialogue was very natural and carried the story along. The story is filled with conflict and high stakes and it boosted my faith as I reflected throughout the book in the importance of prayer and the reality of spiritual warfare. It was hard to put down the book at the end of each chapter. I wanted to continue to read on. It was an enjoyable and fast read.

Fire takes the reader on an amusement ride with twists and turns, hills and valleys. The characters are believable in their roles. The plot is new and original. The power of prayer and faith shines throughout this book. “God often has bigger plans than we do, or we can see. We still pray. Still stand against the enemy.” Life has opportunities and challenges. Prayer helps us maneuver through the mine fields. This book was supllied through Celebrate Lit and the author fot me to read and review. The opinions expressed are my own. Worth the read.

Another good book to read by this author. There's loads of action, prayer, suspense, gangs, and romance. It's a fast ready, but part of that is so much is happening. There's enough warfare to feel like these people are in my real life because there's plenty of spiritual battles to go around! The former gang members and ex-cons were all fantastic and strong characters. if you're looking for a strong read, that doesn't hold back, this one is it.

Thanks to Celebrate Lit for my copy of this book. This review is all mine, left freely. A positive review wasn't required.

Danger meets faith

Rodante has a gift for writing inspiring spiritual stories that move readers to dig into the Bible and pray with zeal. From the start of this book, readers are launched into danger and suspense that kept me reading past bedtime. The characters are well developed and relatable. Fans of Christian fiction, prayer warrior stories, and (clean!) Christian romance will love this can't-put-down book. Because of the heavy topics of gangs and crime (which the author handles wonderfully), I recommend this for mature teens and adults.
