After what seemed like years, Harrison Baxter and Blake Harte are finally planning their wedding. On the day they are trying to choose their suits, Harrison does not have a care in the world. The sun is shining, plans are coming together, and throughout it all, he is holding the hand of the man he loves.
Then the sound of gunfire fills the air.
A masked man has opened fire, seemingly without rhyme and reason. The streets of Clackton are soon littered with the wounded and dead and, in the chaos, Blake finds himself being held hostage by the gunman – before one final gunshot fills the air, leaving Blake in a critical condition. Harmschapel police find themselves facing what appears to be an open and shut case – the man in the mask is revealed and he confesses to the shootings. As they wait for news on their colleague, they at least know that the culprit is behind bars.
Except Harrison saw somebody else underneath that mask before the shootings took place. Somehow, the gunman underwent a complete physical transformation before his face was revealed to other witnesses. Faced with the prospect of losing the most important person in his life and the only one he knows who could make sense of the impossible situation, Harrison finds himself surrounded by echoes of his own past in the case of the mysterious gunman, but would history be so cruel as to repeat itself and force Harrison to lose another loved one from his life?
