Annabelle goes to the island willingly for 6 months, where she is to be a submissive and ends up being bought by the top guy on the island Mr. Woods. Mr. Woods degrade her and allows anyone and everyone to use her. There are degrading comments, some slapping. punishments and a lot of sex by multiple partners and kneeling, the girls are all naked in various forms of undress and different collars means different things. Annabelle gets a black collar which means any man can do what ever they want to her as long as it does not cause permanent harm. Mr. Woods even has Annabelle recite a demeaning mantra just so he can make sure she understands that she is nothing other than to be used, her mind means nothing and she is inferior to all men.
What I did not understand was the constant harping on women needs to happy so they will resign to stay on the island, yet they receive no real mental evaluation or follow up and only gets asked a few times if ok, so this lack of follow up with the women's who total life, outlook and perspective have changed does not seam realistic. Honestly I felt it was more a case of men in charge women are sluts to be used and nobody cares about what the woman thinks or wants. There are no consent other than the first consent before the women gets there and they are constantly told if they leave they will get no compensation and even medical visits needs to be approved by the owner. I would have liked a better explanation about the training used by Mr. Woods. Mr. Woods comes across as a man that has something to prove and gets off dominating, using and to an extend abusing women and found a way to create a world where he can get away with it as long as there is no permanent harm done.
The ownership and "love" with Luke and I use that word loosely comes sudden and out of the blue, there is no real chemistry or attraction as throughout the book Annabelle is is aroused by all the other men.
If you don't like degrading, dubious consent, multiple men using a woman without any real concern about her well being in your BDSM then avoid this book. Overall the book is mostly sex scenes and it feels like the story line was an after thought. The writing is good but the story line and plot did not deliver like I expected after reading the blurb.

Our heroine visits an island where women are nothing but property. She wanted to try this, but will she decide she is in over her head?
This is an erotic story featuring BDSM and D/S. The story is well written and the plot line intriguing, but this is definitely not for everyone. If you are looking for the usual safe and sane offerings, this is not it. Here the subs really give up control. To a certain extent, that is an enjoyable fantasy, but I could have done without the degrading talk. There is a lot of steam throughout, as one should expect. Overall, it was an intriguing read and I expect to check out book two to see where things go.

A whole island just for this group of submissives and their owners. Annabelle is bought by the top dog of a company, Mr. Woods, and later is introduced to his brother, Luke. There are a lot of BDSM scenes, even just walking around the town. The characters are strong and the many locales across the island were very interesting. The changing situations and surprises were continuous so you didn't see a lot of the situations coming up. A whole lot changes for her throughout this book. Her perspective, too.

This was a very interesting story! It is like BDSM but goes much more deeper than the DOM/sub relationship, so **spoiler alert** you must have a very open mind to read this book. If you can wrap your had around it, this book is quite entertaining. There is plenty of very erotic scenes, often with groups. But the love story of Annabelle and Luke can be quite sweet as they get to know one another.

This is my first time reading anything from this author and I have to warn readers that this book is not for the faint of heart. There are a lot of things that happen that could be triggers for some people. I found the book to be a decent read and is filled with steamy scenes.

Sweet Surrender is the first book in The Island Series and is the story of Annabelle, who decides to sign herself over to an unknown man for six months, and Luke, who obtains her from his brother Mr. Woods. This book is definitely not for everyone as there is dubious consent, abuse, and BDSM.

Scene after scene of sexual conduct does not make a story in my opinion. I took a chance on this story and finished with some disappointment. I felt like the females were abused by deviants hiding behind the facade of BDSM. Not a fan.

The book is amazing. And very explicit!! ( I wanted to get that off the table; it is the first info I would have looked for in a review of an erotic novel)
There are many different scenes and ideas but also an actual story with a golden thread and a character with depth and an exciting inner world. Because it is written from the perspective of Annabelle, it is very easy to feel yourself into the story and you get insight into her thoughts.
I especially liked the idea of letting it all take place on a remote island. This way it doesn't feel like some sort of role play. Women being submissive to men is the center of the lifestyle and the story and you get reminded of it just about every second.
I have actually had the luck to stumble upon the first half of the series in the internet before it was professionally published and then I was given an advanced copy of the complete book (in exchange for an honest review), so by now I have already read and reread it several times - that's how good it is :)
I am really looking forward to the other parts of the series that are still to come!!
