He carried her off. Now he will make her his.

When Ailith's village is raided by Vikings, it is the huge, fearsome warrior Ulrick who takes her as his prize. Though she does her best to fight him off and escape, Ailith soon finds herself over Ulrick's firm thighs with her bottom bare for a painful, embarrassing spanking.

A humiliating public display of her forced submission leaves her blushing crimson, but it is only when her new master claims and ravages her for the first time that Ailith begins to truly understand what it means to belong to a rugged brute like Ulrick. She is his property, his to use as roughly and shamefully as he pleases, and he has no intention of being gentle with her.

In spite of everything, Ailith cannot deny her body's response to Ulrick's stern dominance, and her need for him grows stronger each day. But when she is offered her freedom, will she take it?

Have you ever read a book that so bad it entertains you?
Has you in stitches at its sheer awfulness? Well do I have a book for you. I don’t know why my kindle hates me and recommends this kind of drivel but it does, and now you get to enjoy it too.
Let me share some of these gems in the dialogue with you:

“Yes, servant girl, I’m fucking you now,” he growled, thrusting vigorously. “I’m fucking you hard, and you will give yourself up. Surrender to me! Surrender to the needs of your body.”

Woof sexy stuff right? 🤣

And this one :

“Beg,” he demanded, sharply slapping her backside. “Speak the lewd words.” “Ooh, please, Master, please, will you fuck me with your big cock?” “Ha. You learn quickly, servant girl,” he retorted, clasping her hips and pushing his manhood into her slick channel.

Yup, this made it through an editing process (maybe)

How about this one?

“I’ll make sure you don’t forget. This milky skin and this furry womanhood,” he continued, placing his hand against her sex, “is for my touch only. You will keep your hands off!”

I mean, stop you dirty talking beast, amirite? 🙄 🤮

And it kept going:

“Ah, yes, servant girl, you love my big cock,” he grunted, slipping his hand to her breasts to tweak her nipples. “Ow, oh, I do, Master,” she squealed. “So much...”

And going:

“You are mine,” he growled, unexpectedly shoving a finger in her dark hole. “Your body is mine, and you will have your moment now.”

Ya, I certainly had my moment reading this, my moment regretting my reading choices.

So this was pretty much the book. There was lots more terrible prose, a crappy suspense storyline, a psychic heroine and a grumpy spanking Viking.

This is supposed to be a serious book *I think?* but I was laughing so hard at it’s terribleness.

Anyway, this just proves that you don’t really need to be clever or creative or talented or imaginative or even fully literate to write a book. Kudos to this author for proving that literally ANYONE can be a published author if they so choose and make it on to the USA Today’s Bestseller list as well (I’m convinced those lists are paid for).

While the h was more resourceful than many in this genre, the H ultimately treats her with more respect, and the discipline isn't as harsh, I couldn't get past the truly awful prose, which is of the "ooh baby, give it to me, give it to me now" variety (the h actually does say "ooh"). It would be laughable in a contemporary book and is ludicrous in an historical.

This also contains two of my pet peeves in this genre: an h who falls in love with her captor immediately, even though he's done nothing to earn her trust; and an H who punishes an h who reasonably objects to being kidnapped: "How dare you try to escape me when I'm enslaving you" is pretty much how this goes, and is a very old, very tired trope in these books.

Two stars. There's nothing new under the sun here and, even in a genre not known for its sophisticated and scintillating prose, this is one of the worse written books I've ever read.

Fairly tame and rushed domestic discipline type of warrior conqueror book. There was a lot of "mystical" elements and even more clumsy mystery devices used. "I have an idea, let me tell you what we should do" and then the action would move forward to see what the "idea" was. It would have been okay once or twice but it felt overused. Additionally, the heroine went from "I'll never surrender to you, you barbarian!!!!" to "Oh, yes, spank me, f*ck me, use me, Master" in a day. Just ONE day.

Subterfuge and sex are usually my catnip however I found this only a so-so read. There was a great deal of intrigue that seemed unnecessarily convoluted. The sexy times, while numerous, were repetitive. I squirmed a couple times as scenes of anal play were told without the mention of lubrication. And sometimes the author’s manner of speak slipped into modern lingo.

Ailith’s village is raided by Vikings and Ulrick claims her as his prize. She does her best to escape and resist him but the attraction they share is hard to deny. Even when she ends up over his knee for a punishment. This is a fast-paced read with lots of steam. Great characters and plenty of drama. I really liked it.

I love Vikings and I love Maggie Carpenter. A long time fan of her books, I was super excited to read this one. I really enjoyed this story. Ailith wasn't a passive captive by any means, which I thoroughly enjoyed. She gave just as good as she got. Ulrick was the embodiment of the dominant alpha male hero that we just absolutely love. I mean, what's not to love? Vikings, treachery, murder and magic. I'd recommend this to anyone who is an erotica fan who doesn't mind sexy Vikings who take what they want. The ending was quite sweet too. I do love a happy ending!

Missing a spark

The story is now part of a formula- raid, stolen bride who is willful, gets spanks, an al play, and orgasm control, all mixed with a tiny bit of a who done it mystery. If that's all you're looking for out of a novel, then you will find it here. The reason this made it past 2 stars is because the intrigue is a bit more complex than normal. But the writing lacked finesse and was anachronistic in its style of speech. A very quick read.

Rough Warrior

This book wasn’t my cup of tea. I didn’t like the two main characters. She was too wimpy. He needed more of a personality. I gave it a 3 because the Other books I’ve read of hers I did like.

Without the spanking and plentiful sex scenes, this book could have been a Boy's own viking romp.
Very unsophisticated writing and a disappointing read.

A simply riveting read, exciting and entertaining read
This is a splendid read and I do not want to give too much away about the story for readers that are about to enjoy the delights within it pages. Ailith is seen as a pariah by her villagers who forever point fingers and whisper behind her back and because of this she spends most of her time in her own company.
She enjoys spending her free time hunting along the shoreline, searching caves and in the forest scavenging for food or any other prize finds, she enjoys her own company and being away from the oppression of village life and those that live within its walls.
Ulrick is a Viking Warrior that is well respected beyond his own people, he has been thinking of finding a wife of his own and when he finds her and takes her as his prisoner she is crafty enough to manage to escape and he has to go on a hunt to find his runaway bride.
This is an entertaining read, once you begin reading it is impossible to put the book down until you reach the very last page.

So this started out with some Vikings raiding a village and part of their haul is a girl named Ailith. Ulrick, leader of this particular band of Vikings is looking for a female suitable to have his children. Ailith is first understandably hostile but quickly succumbs to Ulrick's persuasion. All the while, Ulrick knows he has at least one traitor in his midst and a mysterious trunk of gold becomes a temptation not easily ignored.

I actually really liked trying to figure out who the traitor was and where the heck that trunk of gold came from. Unfortunately I liked that part way more than the romance. The problem was Ailith, I really didn't care for her or how everyone treated her. To be fair I am generally pretty harsh on heroines...but still. I feel like she was mad she was happy, she was scared she was outspoken, I didn't love that. I like this overall though...it had some mystery, some fun and some sexy.

Wow! Just wow! This is now one of my favorite books by Maggie Carpenter. Once I started reading this book, I couldn’t put it down - I stayed up all night reading it! Thank goodness it was the weekend!
The world building is so detailed, you are immediately transported back to the era of Vikings and a time that is very different from today. The female character is strong, determined and feisty. Of course, the male character is alpha all the way! But he also has a softer, more understanding side. I liked that he actually listened to her point of view and didn’t dismiss anything she said just because she was a female.
Along with the elements of dominance and submission, the story is dramatic, exciting, and entertaining. The mystery of the plot keeps you turning the page, and the surprising conclusion is definitely a satisfying ending to a great book.

What a great story indeed this is to read. Its thoughly entertaining and its one of those wonderous stories that you just dont want to put down.
I loved how Ailith had those special insights like a seer, also how she was honest with Ulrick. That to me made her one heck of a wonderful women. As for Ulrick even though he was a dominant man, it was good to see that he didnt dismiss what Ailith had to say. Overall the exciting book has intrigue, murder and a mystery to be solved because some one is planning Ulricks demise, and even though Ailith was taken from her village she is the one that helps him out with solving who done it.
If your like me and like to read domince and submission with two wonderful people then this certainly is for you.
I havnt given to much away in this review because if you read the blurb of the authors it will tell you all you need to know

Enjoyed the story. It is well written, entertaining and holds your attention. Leading a raid, Ulrick captures Ailith and claims her for his own. She has the gift to sometimes sense when things are not what they are suppose to be. Ailith is a hand full and intent upon escaping, she successfully gets away but is unfortunately later recaptured and finds herself over his knees being spanked. Quickly Ailith cones to love Ultick and when he gives her a chance to escape she stays by his side. There is danger as someone is plotting to kill Ulrick and eventually all guilty parties are found out. There is a lot happening in this story which makes for a great read. I would highly recommend this book.

There's so much more to this story than just the dominating relationship between Ulrick and Ailith. There are a ton of mysteries - who stole the fortune chest from Ekrem and why, who stole the chest from the cave, who murdered the treasonous Gander, who was working with Gander against Ulrick. And all the action associated with these mysteries. Ailith gains Ulrick's trust quickly, having a special talent that he recognizes, and Magnus encourages her to not be afraid of her talent. I'm in love with Ulrick. He's harsh and rough, taking what he wants in life, but there's a softer side to him. The story moves right along, grabbing me at the beginning and never letting go.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this sweet historical domestic discipline romance and it is a bit softer than what I normally read...
Ailith village was raided by Vikings and she was taken as a prize for the Viking leader Ullrick. But Ailith is different she is able to feel or see the future, and because of that she was made an outcast, but when Ullrick finds that he has a traitor in in his midst he uses Ailith’s talents to find the traitor...
with buried treasure, action and spankings definitely made this a light entertaining read...

I love this story. It is so well written. We start with Ulrick taking Ailith from her village. He was intrigued by her when they were scouting the village. He wanted her and he was going to take her. Ailith is not the typical girl of the time. She knows things and is extremely smart. She has 'magic' and is very intuitive. I liked the story because the author told a full story. There was no quick run to the ending. Everything was thoroughly explored. Ulrick and Ailith have a HEA, but the journey there is well told.

Great read!

I've found a "new to me" author that I'm going to follow and read! MS. Maggie Carpenter shows she a consummate storyteller with ROUGH WARRIOR: A VIKING ROMANCE. The story has all of the feels romance readers demand along with the ability to create believable characters in exciting and stressful situations that both entertain and fascinate her readers! There is some dubious consent that when added to the violence and explicit sexual encounters only readers 18 yrs or older are encouraged to purchase. And encourage I do! ROUGH WARRIOR lives up to its name, and I will be reading more of Ms. Maggie Carpenter's work! Get your copy of this 5-STAR read, today! Happy pages! 😉

Viking Raid Captured Beautiful Enchanting Woman

Usually I like the Viking captures beautiful woman type storylines and this story had a unique twist.

However, I felt the main female character to inconsistent. While the male character role was consistent thru out.

She fell in love too fast and her character seemed too childish at times. The boldness and intelligence was there and you expected her to have it she didn’t and becomes a whimpering mess or childish. She submitted way to easy.

I was in the middle for this one. Loved the storyline, but with the main female character made me cringe.

This was an interestingly well-written book that I really enjoyed with well developed characters. The story and characters grabbed me from the beginning and I read it cover to cover without stopping. I liked the characters while watching them grow together and they worked well together. I found this book to have great word building which made me feel apart of the story as it unfolded. A must read for any fan of Spankings and Discipline and I can not wait to read more.

When Ulrick and his warriors invade Ailith's village, she is captured. Suddenly the girl who's always raken care of herself is forced to call this huge warrior Master. No one's ever held her down and spanked her bottom before, but this harsh man demands her submission. Then they discover that there is a snake among his men. Luckily for him, her second sight just may save them all. This is a historical spanking Romance.

So good. Wow, how do you describe something this good. Sexy, strong viking and an equally strong heroine. I love the action, adventure, intrigue, murder, danger, spankings, mystery and incredible steam. Ailith has special insight like a seer and she was honest with Ulrick. Since she was insightful Ulrick would listen to what Ailith had to say. I won't say much else as I don't want to give too much away. I highly recommend this story. I loved reading this story. I was captured by the main characters Ulrick and Ailith. Ulrick even though his custom to acquire a mate was barbaric he really was respectful, considerate and loving. He was used to having his own way in all things because he was the leader of the clan. But when he got to know Ailith all that changed. She made him change all for the good. Ailith had a sixth sense and sometimes visions. She was able to steer Ulrick away from danger and triumph over his enemies. They made an excellent pair. They worked together very well. A very good read.

Rough Warrior, but was Ulrick really? Ailith definitely smoothed his edges.

Spying her in her village, Ulrick knew, he had to have her! She's special, and he'll soon discover why. However, he won't let her get away with anything, or will he?

I smiled, I cringed, I enjoyed the mystery.

I loved how strong, Ailith really was. And the glimpses of compassion from Ulrick.

An enjoyable read.

Good read

I found this book on a daily e-newsletter, and was intrigued by the blurb. This isn’t a genre I typically read very often, but I’m really glad I gave it and this author a chance.

The story of a village girl captured by a raiding barbarian is more than it seems. There is a mystery surrounding a plot to betray the clan leader, the relationship between Ailith and Ulrich and seemingly the magical insights a few of the characters have throughout the story. Their is an
D/s element with barebottomed spankings, but nothing too dark or harsh.

A better read then I anticipated. Viking warrior, Ulrich, takes Ailith as his own when he and his warriors invade her village. Ailith isn't just a beautiful woman. She can feel and see things before it happens and was not accepted in her village. Ulrich accepts her help without reservation. One if his own also posses much the same gift that she does. A rival Viking, betrayal, a rich stranger, a chest of gold and very explicit sex with spanking makes this erotic read a little more interesting than I expected.

Ailith found herself the prize of the chief, Ulrick, in a Viking raid. But she was no everyday, run of the mill maiden. Ailith was blessed with abilities that tended to make her village fear her. The description of the book gives an accurate description of the domestic discipline in the story and yet when I started reading there is so much more. There's secrets, intrigue, murder, and even blessings from their gods. This is just an absolutely awesome read that I'd be proud to recommend.
