Christmas is my favorite holiday, but is Santa stuffing my stocking with ghosts?

It seems Thornhollow has more secrets to reveal. After ridding my family of an ancient curse, I’m hired to break another.

A two-hundred-year-old hex is about to expire and release a ghost from Christmas past. The witch trapped by the hex is seeking revenge and coming after my boyfriend. (Like I don’t have enough issues in the relationship department!)

Add in planning for the Mistletoe Ball, the biggest event of the year in Thornhollow, launching my new wedding dress line, and an unexpected, yet welcome, visitor, and it all spells trouble.

Something is brewing this Christmas, and it isn’t just hot cocoa. Murder and magic are in the air and Santa has stuffed my stocking with ghosts!

It's Christmas in Thornhollow, a small town in Georgia, and Avalon (Ava) Fantome is excited to be back home for the holiday. She has been hired to break a 200 year old curse that will put her boyfriend, Logan, in danger and she doesn't have much more time. She's also busy planning the annual Mistletoe Ball as well as the upcoming launch of her wedding dress line. Add in a body and things really get interesting!

This is the second book in the series and I really enjoyed the read. It was well-written and the characters are wonderful. I was drawn into this engaging story from the beginning and kept hooked until the end. The mysteries will keep you guessing and on your toes throughout. I loved how Ava is starting to accept her gifts in this book and I'm looking forward to the next one. I highly recommend both book and series which I suggest you read in order.

I'll be honest, the first book was forgettable, and so is the second. There's nothing inherently wrong with it, it's just not a book that will stick in your memory.

The characters were OK, the story somewhat predictable, the ending felt rushed and the outcome similar to the previous book - congratulations on beating this ghost, but here's a mild threat of another one to make you want to read the next book. It feels like this whole series will follow that formula, and I think 2 books of it is enough for me.

If you're looking for a pleasant, easy read that doesn't take much brain power, then this may work for you.

Suspenseful Christmas Mystery

I enjoyed the suspense, romance, mystery, & small town charm in this book. The small town charm was even more pleasant this book since I love Christmas, and the town is all decked out. Ava is spinning a lot of plates in this book, as she dates Logan, tries to protect him from a cursed necklace, keep her business going and have enough money, solve a suspicious death, and more!

Magic &Mistletoe is a wonderful Christmas story!

I love reading books about the holidays, especially Halloween and Christmas. This one follows perfectly from Book 1 of this series, but is a great Christmas too. These stories have so much heart that you feel like they are part of your family (only better!). Love the cats and of course the spirits and witches etc. Come share the fun!

I'm enjoying this series immensely!

This is a delightful series that really captures my interest.
I love the characters -- human and feline. It had great story
lines with lots of twists and turns that always keeps me
guessing. To me a fantastic mystery or story line that
grabs my attention at the very beginning and doesn't let go
throughout the entire book is extremely important. I do
love this series!!!!

2021 bk 112. The characters are growing on me - I will say this - Halliwell is good at leaving us with a cliffhanger of a last paragraph, thus sucking the reading into the next book. At the same time I am left wishing there had been more - explanations, relationships, descriptions of the town (I have not been able to develop a map in my mind of this place, most unusual for me).

I feel sorry

Poor Ava never gets just a single or even just a double problem they always come by the truckload. Can the poor girl ever get good news without a rider of bad, usually a ghost problem, attached.

I completely enjoyed this book. I think the who killed Sean part of the mystery was a bit stronger than the Cocheta side of the mystery. It might have been a fraction weaker than the first book. But it kept my complete attention. Since there is no 4.5 rating I'll give it a 5.

A good read for the Christmas season. It's a bit of a cross between cozy mystery + Halloween vibes + Christmas vibes, so it will give your Christmas reading a little extra variety.

Another wonderful paranormal cozy mystery from Nyx Halliwell! Mystery and magic come together with a small town and some romance, delivering a great story that I couldn’t put down!

Ava has become one of my favorite heroines. She may just be learning about her powers, but that doesn’t stop her from doing whatever she needs to protect those around her. She’s humble but fierce, always helping everyone around her, and is just the person I would love to have as a friend. And with an unreliable guardian angel, talking doorknobs and gargoyles, an ancestor who is a shapeshifting cat, and all the ghosts that she attracts, she certainly faces her share of challenges just getting through the day, never mind trying to break a curse or solve a murder! I love her relationship with Logan and seeing that develop and deepen made me very happy - and I loved her little insecurities that that she had about their relationship, they really gave her character such a sense of realness and relatability.

All of the characters that are brought to life in the pages of Magic & Mistletoe are wonderful! Nyx Halliwell has put together a cast of quirky and unique individuals, animals, and spirits that all come together as part of the story. From the unreliable guardian angel to the shapeshifting cat of an ancestor, you never know exactly what is coming as you turn the pages. I also love having some of her characters from one of her other series show up to offer advice and help, I love a good cross-over!

This is a very easy to read book that was fast paced but had enough details to keep you invested in the story. I love the world that Nyx Halliwell has created and the diversity of characters that are built into the story. There were some laughs and some romance, which were the perfect offset to the mystery that was going on. I can’t wait for the next book to come out!

I can’t say enough about this book and series and would recommend them to just about anyone!

This was a delightful story full of twists and turns that left me spellbound, wondering what was next and how Ava would figure everything out while saving her boyfriend, Logan, at the same time.

Of course, as in real life, fiction isn't that easy either. Ava was worried about normal concerns such as paying her bills, trying to get her parents back together, dealing with an unexpected visitor, and breaking a curse involving her beau. Okay, so that last one isn't your run of the mill issue for most, but when you have certain abilities...

I am loving this author and the variety of stories she's giving us. I can't wait to read what Logan and Ava get into next.

Loved this book! Ava continues to try to make a go of the wedding business while desperately trying to solve the problem of the cursed necklace before its too late. Add in an odd death her recently returned father is suspected of and you've got a very entertaining book.

I love the quirky characters and crazy situations that this author has created. If you enjoy the genre, you will love this book. The author is on my must read authors' list.

I’m back in Thornhollow and loving it especially at Christmas time...
Ava is juggling again...lol so many tasks to complete in very little time and trying to keep people alive on top of everything else, it’s a wonder she is still standing herself!!!
What a great story and set in a wonderful town I absolutely love to visit, filled with the most delightful and charming characters, I am looking forward to more adventures in Thornhollow.

Another extremely fun read by Nyx Halliwell. Ava keeps trying to get her Wedding Business up and running but it seems that life keeps getting in the way. Her attention keeps getting drawn to other things like mysteries to solve, ghosts to deal with, talking cats, family issues, and a blossoming romance. Mix in a holiday party to plan and pull off and add some ghosts in the mix and you have a great story.

Definitely a must-read in my opinion!

I have a love-disinterested relationship with this series. On one hand I want to see what happens with the characters and other the other hand I feel the books are so short you don't get enough depth in the story or characters. But I think if you are starting out with cozy mysteries this is a perfect on to start off with. I will be reading the next book "Hearts & Haunts" but it isn't something I am rushing to read.

Magic & Mistletoe is delightful read with the edge of a paranormal and the mystery of a cozy. Readers can count on Nix Halliwell to bring us wonderful characters and exciting stories that are just plain fun to read. This second book in the Confessions of a Closet Medium series is as delightful as the first.
