A great series

This is not one of the more elaborate murder plots but the characters are so lovable and enjoyable that it’s still a nice read. This series is great for reading that lightens stress. I always feel more relaxed after spending time with Mrs. Wakefield and her entourage. I put each book release date on my calendar and look forward to it. Thank you Ms Byers❤️❤️

Not that good to be honest

Nothing much happened until over halfway through the book and then Violet simply guessed who had done it. No clues, no investigation to be honest, but hey presto! it was solved. I'm glad I read it via Kindle Unlimited, I would feel cheated out of my money if I'd paid for it.

Satisfying...

It's nice to see Vi's father give her the words, backed up by actions, in conveYing his pride and love for her. He made so many mistakes with both twins, and that oldest brother's not much better, except he came to her when he needed help with his last love, whom the Lady Eleanor tried to intimidate into backing away from Gerald. I can't fathom that kind of thinking - helpless in the face of reality. This episode showed the earl stepping up as a father to Vi, Victor and Ginny. Even Geoffrey got some closure as Vi's close st friends all reassured him that both twins did in fact love him. That Eleanor, though. I wish she'd go away. She's not the one Henry deserves in his old age; he needs a quieter, less abrasive and less nasty female to retire in peace with. She's truly a narcissistic pain in the behind. Four stars

Another enjoyable Violet and entourage cozy

I have all of Beth Byers' book release dates on my calendar.
Delighted to continue following my favorite characters on their adventures! This one was especially enjoyable because Ginny was in the spotlight of the investigation. Starting this series with the first book is important to the enjoyment of the character building, but Ms. Byers installments are frequent and characters memorable. I find I don't have to reread previous books like I do with other authors. This particular one will be one of this series I will revisit, it was satisfying like dining at first rate restaurant.

Such a satisfying series

I have enjoyed all the Carlyle Mysteries. As each one unfolds, our heroine and hero, Violet and her twin Victor, with their entourage, try to balance the injustice of a wrongly accused person of murder during the 20s. There is still a distinct line between the classes, and each case finds Vi having to balance the resulting dark affect of crime on her psyche with the buoying affect of love and happiness gained in always becoming a better person. With lots of banter, snark and hijinks, the lessons do not overwhelm the fun.

Loved it!

The emotion that always affects me is gratitude, when I read these stories. Gratitude to be able to read about the everlasting love of family and the loyalty that love brings to the individual as well as every member of that family group. In this story, Violet is a lioness in her ferocity to protect her ward from the charge of murder. True family is whomever you choose beyond blood, bone, or genes. The plot is easily followed and the true killer revealed. I most certainly highly recommend this book and any others in this series.

Interesting!

Sadly, the murder of a classmate of Ginny's occurs on New Year's Eve and Ginny is the prime suspect. I did not fully enjoy it because entire scenario happened due to nasty Lady Eleanor's inviting herself and other uninvited guests to dinner and the party. Violet and Victor need to stand up to their obnoxious, self important stepmother! I obviously do not like this woman!

Everyone rallies around a beloved person.

This was a typical Vi Carlyle Mystery. I do not mean that in a derogatory way. All the boxes were checked. Gather friends, family and some unknown people✓ Have a murder✓ Have someone close to the young things group be the main suspect✓ The group join forces to prove the suspect innocent✓ In addition this installment moves forward the relationships between all the important parties.

She did it again! A great read. Highly recommend !

We know the family, the friends, the servants.....and everyone’s history and
Relationship with each other. So the
Centerpieces are the murder and what
leads up to it. When I finish each book I wish
the next one was on my table. I recommend
the entire series.

A great read. My first book by Ms Byers and I really enjoyed. The death didn't occur until half-way through the book but the exposition to that point. The characters were very believable and likable. I am considering reading some of Ms Byers books. My recommendation to read this if you are a mystery fan.

Murder Mystery with Heart

Im on book 28 of this series by Beth Byers. Her writing and stories get better and better. I was so tired of Denny and Violet's other spoiled friends who do nothing useful, so especially loved the developing relationship with her father and her adopted daughter Ginny. Who hasn't felt out of place in this world? Only those without a heart.

Exceeded Expectations

Once you get past the typos and grammatical errors (Beth, you well and truly deserve better proofread), the story I expected after the beginning was not the one I got. Thankfully! I expected pedantic and instead the plot was involved and the sequence of it was delightful. Well done!

Lots of honour, loyalty, friendship in a world of greed, hatred, and love

The protagonists are imperfect, entitled, but decent and kind with feelings. The villains are not. Easy to read stories with no obvious solutions to the mysteries. I, who am in no position to judge, feel like the stories are getting even better perhaps.

Another Winner in this Period Mystery Series

This series just keeps.getting better, covering the mid 1920s among the rich young things.
A major addition to this mystery is the nastiness in girl's boarding schools, which erupts in a new way at Lady Vi's New Years Eve party.

Murder at Midnight

Once again a Murder mystery with all the entanglements of relationships. Where good does prevail and injustices are made right. I love all the characters and how love always trumps every tragedy.

What a great series!

Love these 1920s mysteries. They have mysteries, lovable dogs, cute babies, evil doers doing evil deeds, and rollerskating parties. So, curl up in a comfy chair and enjoy solving the mystery with Vi and her entourage.

Short

This book seemed to be incredibly short. Ginny finally makes an appearance , Lady Eleanor shows up and there is a dead body.
