It was tragic and wholesome. It made me cry and laugh at the same time.
I did feel that it didn't need to be this long and could've been shortened. But I enjoyed it nonetheless. The lead characters went on adventures and it was like I was also with them.
There were so many arcs. I couldn't even recall all of them. They seem a bit repetitive sometimes but these arcs served their purpose alright.
The thing I appreciated the most in this novel was the way the author gave all the characters grey morality. None of us are all good or bad. Most of the time, in the web novels, we see only the good lead characters and the bad villains who were bad just because it was in their nature. But here, it was so much different. Every individual got their own backstory and the motivation behind their agenda except Tu Shan. It highlights this novel from other same cultivation novels.
The struggle shown between humans and the demons were shown beautifully. Both sides were in constant skirmishes. Sometimes, humans slaughtered the demons and other times, demons harmed the humans. This part really impressed me more than anything else. The leads did not choose sides just because.
The title may be a bit misleading. I mean, it's kind of true, but also kind of false. Only if you read, you'll know.
There were some characters that died and my eyes were sweating nonstop. There were also the couples who I shipped, who made it to the finale (thank God). There were also so many wholesome content and the kindness showed from both the human and demon side. The backstory of the characters were often tragic and it made me cry so much too. There were so many dynamics explored. The diversity of the relationships here is one of the best I've read in awhile.
This novel kind of has the found family vibes. And I wasn't complaining one bit. I loved the way the female lead met her friends throughout the novel and how they stuck out for each other.
The romance in this novel may be a bit underwhelming, especially during the last third of the novel. But it also had its swooning moments. After reading this, my obsession about werewolves has taken to a new height. Alas, only if we could get a Sirius like Nan He😩😩😩
The world-building has some tiny plotholes. But if you look past those then it is a great novel for binge reading.
