Rising Son offers a huge improvement over Origins. The story isn't so reliant on linking to the CW series and events/references/characters that do link aren't delivered with the subtley of a kick to nethers and a cheeky wink to camera.

Slightly convenient in its plotting with a couple of cheesy moments. We get to see Dean and Sam develop as characters, and John is now the hunter we are familiar with. The body count is incredibly high. There are some fantastic panels showing John in full hunter mode, samurai sword slicing and dicing.

Writing is much better here, and the art is often gorgeous.

Rising Son is the Supernatural comic experience I wanted.
