"John Lindell’s book New Experiencing God’s Best for Your Life will challenge your status quo in the best sort of way. By unpacking the truths of Scripture and sharing powerful personal stories, John will guide you on a faith-filled journey that has the potential to reshape your future." —CRAIG GROESCHEL, NEW YORK TIMES BEST-SELLING AUTHOR, SENIOR PASTOR, LIFE.CHURCH
Too many of us visit the land of God’s blessing but never live there.
What if what you have grown accustomed to is far less than what God has for you? What if what you call “normal” falls tragically short of what you were created for? What if the difference between you living in God’s best and where you find yourself today is simply your willingness to rise up and fight to experience the new normal—He has for you?
The truth is far too many of us visit the land of God’s blessing but never live there. We spend much of our lives feeling like we are on the outside of His blessing looking in, but never knowing a sustained experience of God’s best. The reason for our sporadic acquaintance with the fullness of God’s goodness is that we are not willing to wage the battle necessary to inhabit that new normal. This book explores the pathway into the Promise Land that Joshua and the people of Israel trekked and provides spiritual principles for fighting the spiritual battles that unlock a life of walking in God’s best.
In New Normal , John Lindell invites you to join him on a life-changing journey following Joshua and the nation of Israel as they find out what it takes to live in the land of blessing God has prepared for them. Through these pages, you will discover an existence where you no longer view God’s best as a passing reality but as the place where you live.
Apparently this is the lowest rating so far for this book. That makes me feel kind of mean. But I’m also confused about why all the reviews are so glowing. I’m happy that so many people seem to have been blessed by this book, but I have to say that I just don’t get it. To me, it seems like so much fluff. The first two-thirds is mostly self-help advice with a Christian gloss. The last third is better, but I nearly quit reading before getting there.
Lindell begins each chapter with a passage from Joshua, which is good, but then often proceeds to make present-day applications which are not warranted by the biblical text.
It seems that many of these positive reviews are written by Lindell’s church members, many of whom have rated only this single book. I appreciate that his church body desires to show its support for their pastor and all, but some of you guys need to read more books. If you’re only going to read one book this year, you could do a lot better.
This wonderful book is about rediscovering God’s promises to deliver us into the Promised Land as He delivered Joshua and the Israelites after the death of Moses. Pastor John achieves his goal by drawing deeply on the life story of Joshua as they entered the Promised Land. In narrative form we follow Joshua as Pastor John addresses the hurdles we face when striving for Godly growth. Rather than focusing on the desperate struggles we face he points us in the direction of a Savior that has already conquered the Promised Land and is inviting us to the banquet table of celebration. Here is one of my favorite Quotes from New Normal.

I don’t think this generation has ever experienced a broken world more in need of the refreshing promises of God delivering us into the Promised Land than the one who has wandered through the wilderness of this past year. As a member of James River Church in Ozark Missouri I can tell you from personal experience that there is not a more compelling, persuasive, and capable leader than John Lindell to point us in the right direction and provide us with clear instructions to map our route.
This dynamic book has the power to propel you from ordinary living where you feel you are always standing outside looking through a window at God’s blessing into an empowered vibrant experience of God’s absolute best for you. Pull out your sword and get ready for a New Normal...
I had the opportunity to read an Advanced Reader copy of New Normal by John Lindell, and I must say I was motivated with each page turn. Need a book to challenge your faith and encourage you in the next step of your life? No matter what season of life you are in, this book is for you. This is a must read. As always, Pastor John Lindell has written a timely book for this season. New Normal is a gold mine of wisdom. I highly recommend and will definitely be reading this book several times over.
I'm reading an advanced copy of Pastor John's new book #NewNomalBook. Y'all!!! This book is a game changer for your walk in Christ no matter if you are a new believer or have been a Christian for decades. Pastor John has described a "new normal" as essentially a new and closer walk with Christ. In the #NewNormalBook, pastor helps you really understand what it means to "be strong and take courage" and how that is applicable in our lives. As a Christian for many years, I've never heard it more clearly as to live a new normal or how to reach a new level of growth in Christ. Here is an excerpt of one of my favorite quotes so far.
" If strength, as we learned in chapter 1, is related to trust in God, courage is what happens when God’s strength permeates your soul. Living with more heart has to do with the resolve and focus that flows from a convinced heart."
I highly recommend that you pre-order Pastor John's book
I've just had the privilege of finishing an advanced reader's copy of Pastor John's book, "New Normal." In this book, you will be challenged and encouraged to not only believe God has big things in store for you, but also to have courage to take the necessary steps of faith to see God start working in incredible ways. Pastor John takes the story of Joshua and the Israelites entering the Promised Land and draws out practical lessons that readers will be able to apply to their lives today. So often it can be easy to settle for a life where we experience less than God's best for us. In this book Pastor John calls on all followers of Jesus to settle no more, and instead seek to live a life that positions them to experience God's miraculous power.
An absolute must read that will ignite your spiritual journey. So many outstanding quotes that will make you think and also energizes your spirit. Great for new believers and also those who are spiritually grounded. If you want to learn how to grow in your walk with God, at any stage you’re in, this book is for you.
This is going to be one of those books you read every year to keep your mind refreshed. After just reading a few pages it's hard to put it down and not want to finish it. Pastor John has a way of educating you on what normality is and how we can find new ways to keep it fresh. This book is a game-changer when it comes to staying unstuck.
Throughout "New Normal", Pastor John Lindell took me on a journey with Joshua, scripture by scripture. I received encouragement and inspiration to achieve all that God has planned for my future through obedience and praise to Him. The book transformed my thinking about what I have to look forward to in my retirement years. God is not finished with me yet. He has so much more in store for me than I had dreamed or imagined. Thank you, Pastor John for helping me gain confidence to be like Joshua. I will be "strong and courageous" for God until I see Jesus face-to-face.
While Lindell is a new author to me, I have really enjoyed "New Normal: Experiencing God's Best for Your Life." Pastor of James River Church, Lindell has written one other book, "Soul Set Free: Why Grace Is More Liberating Than You Think."
In "New Normal," Lindell shares personal stories and experiences in seeking God's blessings in our lives. He weaves the story of Joshua and the Israelites into the book, creating a parallel between what God wants for our lives and what we're willing to settle for. While we know God blesses His people, often we are ready to take the least of what He's waiting to bless us with.
I am currently reading through the Old Testament, and this book fit right in--the focus is Joshua and the Israelites as they move forward towards the Promised Land God has for them. I think this is a book worth walking through, either alone or in a group. Lots of great stuff to discuss!
I was an early reader, thanks to Charisma Media Publishers. All opinions are my own.
Such an encouraging read! I was provided with an advanced read copy, I have completed reading the entire book. The Biblical insights and truths outlined from the book of Joshua will build your faith and prompt thought provoking introspection to help prayerfully guide you to 'A New Normal' - to live a life full of praise, humble, effective and bold for the Lord and for His glory. I am grateful for this book & plan to re-read it again.
This is an exceptionally good book that is leading the readers to experience God's presence and wisdom! I have read the prepublished manuscript and highly recommend it!
I received an ARC copy of Pastor John’s book and wow. He hit every note in how to grow your faith and change your attitude with the example of Joshua’s story of strength, faith and courage. It has changed how I view hard circumstances and challenged me to pray! Pray! Pray about everything. Also open my heart to the voice of the Holy Spirit and follow God obediently so I can live the life of blessing.
I love this book!!! It's definately one that I will read every year at least once! As always, Pastor John brings truth and its application to everyday life in a way that will transform your life and your walk with God. You don't want to miss this one!
A powerful guide book for this crazy world we are living in! John Lindell presents biblical knowledge that will help lead you into Blessings that don’t just last for a small amount of time but just continue to excel you in those blessings!
So good! It challenges our faith for the greater things God already has prepared for us! We just need to enter the new normal of audacious faith to take hold of that which has already been ordained by God!
New Normal was such a good read. John Lindell’s book spoke to me as I work through transitions in my own life. Through the Old Testament Book of Joshua a call to courage, boldness, motivation to step out in faith in all that God has called me to do.
I have been just introduced to who John Lindell is and the writing style of John Lindell. This book in my opinion is more than just another book, it is a book that takes you on the adventurous journey of getting to know John Lindell and getting to know God as John Lindell has experienced God! As you read the book, you encounter John Lindell's reality and the hurts, the pains, the anguish, the joys, the highs and the lows of being in a living and personal relationship with God!
Because you are on this new journey with John Lindell as you read each page of the book, John Lindell is cleverly able to clearly outline to you how the good experiences and the bad experiences of His life helped to shape Him for His new normal! John assures anyone reading this book that it is okay to be “Not” okay as you live life, do ministry and follow God because when God is on your side, He can change your “not being okay” to a new normal!
Additionally the book contains lots of experiences and examples of individuals in the Bible that also had good, bad, and terrible experiences walking with God and how they were able to get their not okay experiences turned around so that they could experience their new normal! John Lindell makes it clear in His book what is necessary for you too to be able to experience God turning your good, bad, and not okay terrible experiences around so that you too can experience the new normal that God has for you!
This book is an excellent way for any reader to be strengthened in their inner being and their outer being because as the book is read the Holy Spirit will be able to enlighten the eyes of understanding so that readers will be able to see what they need to do, so it is in this way this enlightenment will assist God in helping any reader of this book to be ushered into their new normal! This book is a must read for anyone wanting a new chance, a new start or a different reality with God as their guide!
Have you ever had something come to you at exactly the right time and you knew God was working in the background, making it all happen? Yes! That is what this new book A New Normal by John Lindell has been for me. I have always believed that God gives good gifts to His children; Scriptures even tell us He does. But my personal life didn’t always attest to that idea.
Using the story of Joshua as a template, Lindell defines how we can learn the principles needed to live a life where God’s best for us is our reality.
This easy-to-read book is a road map to get you to where you need to be to see God’s best unfolding in your daily life. This sounds simple but it’s not easy. There are things we need to do along the way and there will be choices required. But God’s best is always worth more than anything it may cost us.
Everyone can choose A New Normal and be blessed because you did.
Pastor John Lindell releases another amazing, life-changing word. New Normal is an incredible, encouraging page-turner that you will not want to put down!
Based on the story of Joshua, Lindell shares how everyone can live the continually blessed life by praying, believing, and trusting God at His word — God’s promises! “The only qualification for God to make a beautiful story out of our lives is that we trust the storyteller.” — John Lindell, New Normal
I’m incredibly blessed to be part of Lindell’s church and hear from his amazing teaching and preaching weekly, and I was very grateful to read an advanced copy of the book. New Normal brings exciting, new insights and challenges from the story of Joshua. I found myself underlining line after line, page after page. So excited to see what God has in store as we walk into the promises that He has for His Church in the new normal.
"New Normal" is a life-giving and inspiring book calling all Christians to step into the blessing that God has for them. It follows the life of Joshua as he leads the nation of Israel into the Promised Land and draws connections to our daily walk with Christ. It's so easy to get trapped where we are in the normalcy of everyday, but through this book, Pastor John Lindell encourages readers to step into a New Normal by finding our strength, our courage, and our hope by continually walking in God's presence.
John Lindell was my pastor for several years, and I still follow his ministry at James River Church. This is his second book, and he has a sermon series by the same title that covers the same lessons even more in-depth. Read the Old Testament book of Joshua first, and then read Lindell's book. It is an easy read and instructive to a degree. I felt intellectually stimulated and productive reading it, and I gained new insights on applying a life like Joshua's from the Old Testament to my own. Good stuff!
What a powerful book we can all benefit from especially right now. It is a book I will be reading again.
I think this says it best….

As each of us, in different life areas, begin to navigate our path towards and thru a ' new normal ', this book can help guide the journey. Very much appreciated this journey and took away much needed guidance and direction. The included practice questions became a welcomed journaling experience for me as well. Blessed to have been provided a pre-release copy from publisher.

This was an encouraging and inspiring look at the book of Joshua. Every chapter was challenging in its own way, building my faith as I looked to how God moved in big ways for Joshua and the Israelites. The New Normal sermon series by Pastors John, Brandon and David as James River Church went through this book was *amazing*. Probably my favorite series ever.
