Ethan Drake #5

Hell Patrol

Rate this book
Hell awaits for those who deserve it...and those who don’t.

So it’s finally happened. I’m going to Hell. Some would argue, including me, that it was inevitable. But I’m not going to Hell to be punished - at least not yet - but to save my daughter’s soul.

Wendell Knightsbridge has me over a barrel. If I want to save Callie’s soul, I have to go to Hell for him, and once I’m there, I have to find Lucifer and somehow steal the Devil’s energy to send back to Knightsbridge. I’m sure it’ll be a snap, like taking candy from a baby. Yeah right.

But before I try to mug the Devil, I have to negotiate the travails of Hell in all its horrific glory, and while I’m down there, rescue the necromancer, Richard Solomon, from the clutches of the sinister Hell Priests. Embarking on this hell patrol with me is Eric Pike, Haedemus, and Hannah, who has to become Xaglath to lead us on this nightmare journey, which will take us to Hell’s capital, Pandemonium, and the Demon Lord who runs it.

One thing’s for sure. If I ever make it back, I’ll never take my world for granted again...and Knightsbridge will know my wrath.

But in the meantime, Hell awaits...

I’m N.P. Martin and I’m a lover of dark fantasy and horror. Writing stories about magick, the occult, monsters and kickass characters has always been my idea of a dream job, and these days, I get to live that dream. I have tried many things in my life (professional martial arts instructor, bouncer, plasterer, salesman…to name a few), but only the writing hat seems to fit. When I’m not writing, I’m spending time with my wife and daughters at our home in Northern Ireland.

You’ll never think of Hell the same way…

In this, the 5th book of the Ethan Drake series, Ethan is extorted into going to Hell to steal some of Lucifer’s power. What could possibly go wrong? Don’t ask. Hell turns out to be just as barbaric and evil as you might imagine, but it is also a good deal more disgusting. Like all the other books in this series, the author will take you on a fast-paced, action-packed, never-a-dull-moment epic adventure replete with unforgettable characters facing seemingly insurmountable odds but never losing their sense of humor as they face each challenge confronting them. There are some major developments in the character’s lives that may change things forever but we will have to wait to see what the author has planned for them. I am already anticipating the next adventure….a war is coming….Ethan and his companions have been to Hell and back but can they survive what is yet to come? Awesome series.

I was provided with an advance copy of this book by the author and I am voluntarily offering my honest and unbiased review.

Helluva Time

So a Hellicorn, a Mercenary, an Ex Fallen Angel and Ethan Drake go to hell on a quest that just might save his daughters immortal soul and the lives of his loved ones. I do enjoy this series by N.P. Martin this starts a bit slow and might have just one too many hellacious puns but soon you will find the normal action packed stride. I was happy to find plenty of Haedamus smack talking but dropped I dropped a star for the oh so convenient Mary Sue scenario. However these stories are great and I will be back every time for the next one. If you are an Urban Fantasy with a humorous horror slant fan then I would checkout this series.

Drake is back in the fifth book of the Ethan Drake series. Nothing seems to go right for poor Drake. He’s been kidnapped at the beginning of this one/end of the last one, and he is tasked with siphoning energy off Lucifer himself to save his daughter’s soul. This book was a wild ride, and I enjoyed getting to know Drake’s friend Pike. Drake’s sojourn through Hell was action-packed and fun. Something happens to Hannah in this one which was a very interesting development, and I’m not sure I’m going to enjoy the fallout (no spoilers!). LOL! As always, this was a fun, adventure-filled book, and if you enjoyed the ones before, you’ll love this one. Recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

This is one hell of a storywriter, these books are brilliant. I cannot get enough of Ethan and his exploits. This one is particularly hellish in every way. Roll on book five, I cannot wait. Highly recommended.

I adore the hot mess that is Ethan Drake! He gets himself into situations like this latest installment, of going to Hell to save his daughter's soul. He is accompanied by his faithful crew, and there are many twists and turn of revelations that smack Drake down one right after another.

My biggest criticism regarding this series is there is a lot of telling rather than showing. When Drake is in Hell, so many horrible things are going on around him, but we as readers don't feel like we're there with him, more like observers. However, this isn't going to stop me from reading the next book because I'm really enjoying where the story is headed and will be pre-ordering the next book when it's available.

Follows on directly from Black Mirror (book 4), and Ethan, Haedemus, Hanah and Pike (bit character from other books - but great foil for Haedemus: Drake is far too serious...) are in Hell to drain Lucifer of some of his power. Yeah.

This book has probably the most unpleasant vision of hell ever - it's beautifully gross: I'll just say "sludgecocks" and leave it at that.

The story is darker and bleaker than ever and so is the humour- it's great! It's not a 5* book, but it's definitely a 5* 4* book.

Ethan is forced to go to Hell along with his friends and try to come back in one piece! Action, adventure, pitfalls, humor, betrayal, twists, and love are showcased in this remarkable storyline. You simply must read this book! I loved it. I voluntarily read an ARC and this is my honest review.

Very exciting!

I enjoyed the edition of the Ethan Drake series. The main character is funny, crude, and by the description, he is the perfect ladies man! I hope the series continues for awhile, I love this series!

Amazingly, Awesome

Love, love, love. The characters, the humor, and thru all the horror we do it all again in the name of love. Doesn't get better then that. Thanks

An interesting series, but...

The ending was strong the book was wishy washy. some good parts many iffy parts, but still curious where the author is going.
