Encounters with the Infinite: Geometrical experiences through active contemplation

Rate this book
.....Here, at the outset, we should be very clear about our basis for The subtitle - Experience through Active Contemplation - is not only the motto, it is the method of our - encounters. There is no question that with the help of the drawings and sketches it is possible simply to absorb the text as reading matter and apparently to draw full use from it; for, as many tell themselves, - There's nothing that cant' be re-experienced in thought, and anyway, Geometry is not dependent on drawing. Everything can be presented in such a way that it is easy to picture mentally, and one's own drawings won't differ essentially from those in the book...... This very engagement with content and form of the geometrical figure is the nature of our encounters. Just in sketching and contemplating our own drawings we shall have the most valuable experiences.
