Wow, I am blown away by this book. It's beautiful, raw, and gripped my soul. Our Shadowed Souls is a standalone, Contemporary Romance. Read the trigger warning; there are some serious subjects.
The book starts one year after Our Naked Souls. Mignon is still struggling with the trauma caused by Salvatore. She is at her wit's end and is off to find herself and goes camping. Right here is where I laugh hysterically. She knows nothing about camping, and of course, her foul mouth is at full force. A storm hits, and she is off to find shelter. She does find shelter along with a Grumpy handsome man Named Foxx.
From the beginning, with Mignon's fierceness, foul mouth, and Foxx's stubborn, grumpy self, I knew they were perfect for each other. I was waiting for them to kill each other or rip their clothes off.
Both have trauma and fighting their demons to try and move forward. Foxx is focused in the past, and I don't blame him at all. His story brought so many tears to my eyes.
I swooned and fell in Love with Foxx. He has a special place in my heart. I am tearing up writing about him. Everything he went through, my heart bleeds for him. When he loves, he gives it all plus more. He does what he thinks is right even when he is hurting himself. All I can say is he is a gentle giant.
This book is about grief, trauma, struggling, PTSD, healing, finding yourself, and most importantly, love. They have such a special unbreakable bond. The author wrote about a series subject; she delivered it with exact precision with tact and delicacy.

Epic Tale of Love and Healing together 😍😍
I'm still feeling overwhelmed, so full of beautiful, deep feelings after finishing this one. Not expecting where this book would take me but loving every turn and every moment of this journey with mignon and Foxx.
I have to say there's just something about Ms. Vitale's writing that makes me smile and gives me cloud nine feels while also squeezing tears from me because the words evoke awe in knowing how something beautiful can also come from pain and suffering.
I'd liked mignon in book 1, which was such an extraordinary book in itself and I was so excited when I found out mignon's book was coming.
Nobody really understands what she feels now after what happened with her ex-boyfriend. When you love and trust a person who you have known almost all your life and then to find out that how horribly wrong you were about them, it affects you deeply and changes you for sure.
Even though mignon had come out of that incident with a few injuries and not something that could have been worse, she is still hurt and her family thinks just because it was not something severe, she should just get over it.
Mignon feels suffocated and so she escapes to somewhere where she thinks she will hopefully be able to find healing.
But what she didn't expect was the unexpected storm where she'd camped and curses for the bad idea of this escape.
Those scenes were just so good. I felt mignon and I were together, in the storm searching for shelter and then never expecting to stumble into someone who'd change their lives completely.
Foxx is irked and annoyed by this girl who first trespasses into his cabin and then now when he's going out of his way to help her she still wouldn't take it.
Foxx is such a softie under all that hard exterior. With the way he leaves his camper for mignon so she would be safe in this weather and then helping her in the blizzard.
But Foxx has gone through something painful himself and is battling a severe case of guilt. But this city girl seems to have shaken him and he can't seem to stay away from her. Life looks more different in a good way when she's near.
Let me say though, the back and forth and sexual tension between these two... OH my goodness... I JUST CAN'T.. I WANTED TO SCREAM AT MIGNON LIKE GIRL JUST GET IT DONE WITH.
ESPECIALLY THAT SCENE WHEN THEY ARE BOTH FRUSTRATED & FOXX IS OUT, SEES MIGNON THROUGH GLASS IN A BATHTUB & WHERE SHE IS PLEASURING HERSELF AND RUNS INSIDE ONLY TO DIND THE DOOR LOCKED.. SO HOTTTT BUT FRUSTRATING 😏😏🔥🔥🔥🔥
This book was definitely a lot of things filled with so many amazing varied flavours of Joy, Love, Pain, Healing, Smiles, Laughter, Happy and sometimes sad Tears but also Happiness and friendships and Togetherness. Also, Oh my... The Steaminess too.. 😍😍😍💋💋💋🔥🔥🔥🔥. An Epic story for sure.

Another heart wrenching tale by Alessandra Vitale. This time we have Mignon dealing with the aftermath of devastation her ex had wrought. Mignon decides to go camping by herself and ends up trapped in a snowstorm with Foxx, A man who is dealing with his own pain. Our Shadowed Souls would best be enjoyed after reading Our Naked Souls.
Another super angsty, emotional rollercoaster ride! The chemistry between them is great. They're polar opposites. She's the spunky city girl and he's the moody mountain man and their personalities frequently clash, setting off tons of sparks with super hot smexy times. With that being said, this is really not my type of read I enjoy. Both of them are dealing with severe issues of self hate and guilt and both tend to pick the most difficult path. Every time. Just a little too much for my reading tastes. But the story is well written and the characters are well developed. If angst is your jam, this is likely a book and series for you ❤.

A brand new contemporary romance, full of angst, and with HEA, the second book in the series, can be read as a standalone but I recommend reading book 1 also, you will love them both.
Just a little peek into the story -
Fate brought them together. If she had watched the weather forecast she would have never gone into the wilderness, camping in the time of the coming rains and coldness.
Spiritual wilderness retreats they ay will be good for her.
Yes, but on her own terms.
never in her wildest dreams did she thought she would meet him
Both with heavy pasts, forced to spend time together due to unpredictable blizzard, Foxx and Mignon will have to have faith and help each other in the time of grief and hopelessness.
If you like age gap romance (yes, the sparks and hotness between them is sizzling) angst, and a little bit of drama this is a perfect weekend read.
I truly enjoyed this wonderful story!

Ahh what an emotionally compelling story from Alessandra Vitale. This novel takes us in the journey of Mignon and Foxx. Mignon is trying to recover from the trauma with her ex who had broken down her spirit while Foxx is trying to heal from skeletons (and family issues) from his past. Mignon looks to the wilderness to try to rebuild and encounters Foxx, the mountain man. These two definitely sparked from their initial meeting but had hate vibes as they each tried to stay away from each other. I just loved the banter from these two opposite personalities and it was a joy to see their walls break down as they fell for each other. Foxx definitely captured my heart as he was all in once he accepted his feelings for Mignon (and he tore at my heart with his past trauma). Also enjoyed all the interconnections to the first book. This story had steam, angst and hope interwoven together in a such a beautiful way. Highly recommend this story of healing through romance!

What a enlightening story! When Mignon began to lose herself to the anger she leaves her home to discover herself in the woods but she discovered a Cabin man who sees her better than anyone. Foxx lives away from people for a reason but when Mignon shows up on his land he is attracted to her fierce personality while trying to find herself, great story!

Mignon goes on a trip to try and find healing from past trauma. When a rainstorm comes through the area where she is camping and rips her tent apart she is forced to find other shelter. After trekking through the forest for some time she stumbles upon an empty cabin.
Foxx has returned home for the first time in two years and is staying in his cabin before having to face his family. After finding a strange woman in his cabin in the middle of a rainstorm he offers to let her stay in his camper so that she is not staying in his cabin.
During a blizzard about a week after Mignon and Foxx met they end up stranded in his camper together until the snow stops. Can they learn to trust one another and open up about their pasts to move forward together?
Alessandra has done it again making me feel all the emotions while reading Our Shadowed Souls. Be prepared to have tissues on hand!

Again, I am blown away. Alessandra continues to enthrall me with her writing and her subject matter is handled to perfection. This book is a standalone and can be read alone but you will get much more out of this book if you read Our Naked Souls first. But be warned, this book deals with intense subjects such as grief and trauma, and Alessandra does not shy away from the hard details.
Our Shadowed Souls is Mignon’s story. She was introduced in Our Naked Souls. Her story continues a year after the events in Our Naked Souls and we find her struggling. Her first love, she thought her ever after was indeed a monster and she has the scars to prove it. Mignon’s friends are worried about her and she is at the end of her rope trying to act normal. With a suggestion from one of her friends that sounds crazy, Mignon decides it might be the best thing for her – so she goes camping.
Mignon reaches her spot, sets up camp, and bam – a storm hits leaving her stranded. As she finds shelter at a nearby cabin, Mignon runs into its owner, the very allusive Foxx, and her anger (her armor) takes over and their first meeting does not go well.
Mignon and Foxx are both suffering from trauma, grief, and guilt. As they get to know each other Mignon lets her guard down and tells Foxx everything that happened to her. Foxx does not do the same, his guilt is all-consuming. Both struggles with their demons and as the relationship progresses and they fall in love, neither discuss the future. Foxx makes a judgment call that will change it all. Can they overcome? Can they find their way back to each other? They will, but it won’t be pretty.
This is a tough book to read but oh so worth it. I felt for both Mignon and Foxx. Their stories will tear you apart but the road to their healing, finding their true selves, and moving forward is such a beautiful thing to witness. Alessandra has again written a wonderful book and I was not disappointed in the least.

What an amazing, heart-wrenching and emotionally charged journey this phenomenal author takes us on. She give us two broken and damaged characters that just want to move past their trauma and live their lives happily. But sometimes healing from such painful tragedies is not as simple as just moving on. There needs to be some extensive healing first and both Mignon and Foxx take us on their whirlwind journey of grief, pain, healing and hopefully finding the love they both deserve.
This is a beautifully written story that will have you captivated and enthralled by the profound words the author uses to describe the pain and anguish both Mignon and Foxx are going through. Their story is not an easy one to read at times. They had me laughing and gushing with love over this amazing and crazy connection that they have forged and then crying uncontrollably over the intense grief and uncontrollable pain that both of them hold deeply in their hearts. Their journey was a beautiful one to witness!
Filled with beautiful poignant words, phenomenal characters who you just can’t help but fall in love with deeply and packed with so many emotional ups and downs that your heart will break and then it will soar with love.
I absolutely loved this story. At times the pain and grief the characters went through hit me hard and brought me back to times when grief was my enemy too! Words have never spoken so deeply to me as when I read this:
“Grief,” he said, “is carnivorous. It feeds whether you’re awake or not, whether you fight it or you don’t. Much like cancer. And one morning you wake up and all those other emotions – joy, envy, greed, even love – are swallowed by it. And you’re alone with grief, naked to it. And it owns you.” - Denis Lehane, Sacred

Book 2 in The Seasons of The Soul Series which takes place one year after Our Naked Souls (and although this can be read as a standalone, I think you'll enjoy it more if you read book 1 first!)
Mignon is struggling! When we see her last in Book 1, she is in kick-a** mode and has taken a baseball bat to Sal! BUT we seem to forget that she had spent a lifetime thinking she was in love and several years believing that love was reciprocated, when it actual fact, it really wasn't!
This is her road to recovery - and how does any new-age modern woman go about finding themselves?...they go camping! In the mountains! Not knowing how to camp! Or that they're in blizzard season! 🤦🏻♀️
This is when Foxx appears and although he's a grumpy, unsociable and handsome rude man - they are drawn to each other.
But when two people who are emotionally damaged the way these two are, there's no a chance it's going to be straight forward!
Let their road to recovery and each other commence.....
A good read.
Did I like it?...yes.
Did I love it?...no, a few things just didn't work for me.
Would I recommend it?...most definitely yes!

There are just not enough words to capture this beauty.
I was first introduced to the captivating words from this author with Our Naked Souls at the beginning of this year. I was not disappointed with the second of the Seasons of the Souls.
Letting go of pasts and learning to love again…Our Shadowed Souls will lift your soul and leave you breathless. The aftereffects of pain and trauma of two lost souls are given hope they will heal. Each carrying their own weight of tragedy, coming together by chance, healing, trusting, and learning to love again.
Such a poignant story filled with so many emotions, real-life experiences, and characters you can’t help but fall in love with.

‼️ 𝗕𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄.‼️
After reading and loving “ Our Naked Souls” , I just had to read this! And like with the last one I was not disappointed! Alessandra Vitale did it again! I’ll try to keep this review as spoiler free as possible. Story starts off with Mignon, who’s trying to live her life as normal as possible after being attacked, almost raped and shot on the leg by her own boyfriend. Years later she meets Foxx, and let me just say when they first meet!?Oh , goodness gracious ! Foxx is a solitude loving man who lives in a cabin all by himself in the middle of a national park wooden area and while camping Mignon accidentally enters his home, obviously uninvited. They get on each-others nerves making the slow burn 🔥 of the story go up in flamessssss. The dirty things he whispers in her ear 🥵🥵🥵. Even while battling their own demons, the chemistry between them is too much to ignore. Both learning to cope with their traumas, learning to trust and love ❤️. I absolutely loved, loved, LOVED this book! ❤️❤️❤️

Mignion and Foxx are both suffering with the lasting effects of grief, guilt and trauma. As their relationship develops Mignion slowly let's her guard down and bares her soul to Foxx confiding in him everything that she has been through, however Foxx is unable to let go of his all consuming guilt. As they both grow closer and fall in love whilst still battling their demons, neither of them can face discussing the future and what they will become.
Eventually Foxx makes a judgement call that will change everything and bring their world crashing down. Will they be able to overcome the past? Will they be able to come together and rekindle what they have lost?
This book is emotionally deep and raw, they agony will draw you in and tear you to pieces. Their healing and growth is nothing short of beautiful and heart warming

This is the second book in the Seasons of Soul series and it has the same recipe for heartbreak as Our Naked Souls did.
Foxx and Mignon are 2 people that are so damaged and carry so much guilt, they are convinced they don't deserve a chance at happiness. A chance encounter followed by a fight for survival brings them closer than they expected and the tension and chemistry between them gets suffocating. When they finally give in they realise how much they need each other to heal.
Mignon is a true fighter and I admired her strength and resilience. Foxx is such a layered character I enjoyed immensely seeing him slowly opening up to a new chance at happiness.
Some of the subjects addressed are truly painful to read about and some moments squeezed my heart tightly.
I loved seeing old and loved characters and the sense of family and support net they had.
Thoroughly enjoyed this book and can't wait to see where this author will take me next!

Our Shadowed Souls is a beautiful story of two broken souls, hunted by their past who try to heal and move on.
Mignon is a proper bad*ss and I just love her. She is such a strong and indipendent woman.
After being betrayed by her boyfriend Mignon feels so lost and she decides that it was time to work on herself. To heal and to enjoy life again. And so she decides to do a camping trip where she meets Foxx.
This man, gaaaahhh! I love him. He's a grumpy, rude montain man but with a heart of gold.
I loved the pull and push, the banter between them, and the hate vibes as they tried to fight their feelings for each other.
If you are looking for a closed proximity age gap with a strong heroine and an alpha hero then this may be the book for you.

Devastatingly beautiful

I am more and more in love with this authors books. They are so gripping and powerful. I loved every word. I must be honestly I had to stop reading for a while and compose myself then come back to it. It was such a powerful story if gripped my souls and felt like I was experiencing the pain right along Foxx. Oh poor broken Foxx you are going to love him so much. The author does an amazing job at writing his pain and grief to the point where you will go right through it with him. When I first started reading the book I was sure Mignon was the focus of the book and yes her journey is so painful and important but to me Foxx was the connection and the heart of the book. His journey was so painful and yet beautiful. I won’t say much because I promise you it is better if you read it for yourself. It is so emotionally good. It will definitely break your heart yet heal your soul. Definitely a must read.

Alessandra Vitale has a way of writing that feels so real and personal. It never comes off as overly dramatic or sensationalized. It just feels authentic.
Mignon and Foxx broke me and put me back together multiple times during this book. They pulled at every possible heartstring. Their chemistry was intense and HOT, and bickering was very entertaining.
This was a story about the different ways that people deal (or don't deal) with grief.
As heartbreaking as Mignon's past was, it was Foxx's story that affected me the most. My heart ached for all he went thru.
There are some very serious issues tackled in this book. So be prepared. And heed the trigger warnings. But it's a love story at its core and Foxx and Mignon are a wonderful couple. They are both fierce and brave, but also scared and vulnerable. I loved these very complex, very broken characters.

If you're a sucker for age gaps with a heap of angst, fire and emotions packed in close proximity well you're in the right place.
This is beautiful tale of two damaged souls tormented and haunted by their past, ridden with guilt and pain. They try to find a semblance of who they were before while trying to survive, heal and discover each other as time passes.
I loved Foxx, this man has been through alot and despite being a grump, he's caring, protective and thoughtful. Mignon was a little spitfire with a bold, stubborn streak and prideful. I loved her independence even when she was stubborn as hell. The push and pull of these along with the pent up angst, were the perfect fit for each other.
I don't want to dive deep into this book but i love it. It was filled with so many emotions and my only regret was reading it in public and getting teary eyed. (Damnit Alessandra)

Just like the first book, I'm in shock and awe that this was written by a brand new (this is her second ever book) author. The topics within her stories may be tough for many to read but trust me they are worth it.
This definitely won't be the last time I read this author, even though I'm a self proclaimed suspense junkie, the characters and plot within her books make it impossible to look away from until you've read the very last page.
I won't say anything else as this book, although rough at times, needs to be experienced first hand.
Yet again every emotion was wrung out of me and I definitely recommend both books in the series thus far.

Our Shadowed Souls by Alessandra Vitale is the story of Foxx and Mignon. Both of these characters are suffering from issues and trauma from the past. Both are struggling to come to terms with it all. When they meet each other, there is the possibility of survival, healing, redemption, and love???

You did something incredibly beautiful by immortalising your friend. Having us readers, bring a part of her back to life like something from the Never Ending Story was enough to bring me to tears, however you opened the flood gates with Foxx and his inner demons with survivors guilt.
You manipulate pain into something beautifully raw, as a reader is seems effortless having read Our Naked Souls too.

Mignon is at her breaking point when she decides to get away. She packs a tent and everything she needs and leaves to try and heal. Foxx is trying to deal with his own demons when he meets Mignon. Can they both be what each other needs to heal? They are both attracted to one another, Will they act on their feelings?
