Omega Force #12

The Pandora Paradox

Rate this book
It started with a revolution nobody had even realized occurred…

Its cruelty sparked a rebellion that everyone refused to admit existed…

Now, the Machine—a terrifying and relentless enemy—reigns supreme in the galaxy, and the real fight is just beginning.

Omega Force keenly feels the weight of responsibility for the Machine's arrival in the quadrant, but even with the resources of the Blazing Sun organized crime syndicate backing them, there's only so much the small mercenary crew can do against the malevolent AI that has already usurped control of most of the government.
With the Machine now firmly in control of the ConFed's military, they are out of time and out of options. Captain Jason Burke knows that along with the Machine, something else came back from the outer regions… something he's kept a secret from everybody, even his own crew. He knows that he likely has the power to stop the Machine in its tracks, but it means unleashing an equally uncontrollable force. As he struggles to know what the right thing to do is, he can't help but fear that the cure could very well be worse than the disease.

The Pandora Paradox is the 12th installment of the bestselling Omega Force Series.

Look, this is brain candy in it's purest sense and, in my opinion, it holds up better than many of the other similar series out there. This is an excellent installment and, without being spoilery, we now have 3 major plotlines with major stakes involved. If you're a fan of the series, I think you'll find this to be one of the better ones, though it's a cliffhanger (like several of these later volumes)

I love that the dialogue and reactions of the characters in Dalzelle's stories are believable. I don't have to press the "I believe button" quite as much, even though these books have some intentional silliness.

So is this the end of a trilogy? It was a fun read, but in the end pretty much more of the same. The reason for the extra star was because there actually was some character development. I know, you are saying "in book twelve?" It has been a while, but Jason seems to finally be growing up and having some adult level relationships with the rest of the Force. It's all for the good and a good story to boot.

I read it slowly

I read the Pandora Paradox more slowly than I have the prior eleven Omega Force books. I knew I was up against the end of the series to date. Fortunately there is another book in the series in the works. I want to thank Josh for keeping me enthralled in the characters and the story. There seems to be no end to where the Omega Force will journey and what challenges. Josh, please keep them coming. Thanks again. JWMIV

Main complaint is that it was too short! Or was it just I kept reading it rather than anything else.... A while coming but worth the wait but now another wait as the story continues but also develops. What is great is that it is not more of the same like some series. Here characters and plots develop and change providing new stories keeping the interest and above all great enjoyment.

Awesome

Glad to see this was out, instantly downloaded and started reading, and shortly thereafter was chuckling to myself like some sort of crazy person. These are all pretty excellent, plenty of everything you're looking for, get it, read it, enjoy it, looking forward to whatever happens next.

This Cannot be the End

There are too many unanswered storylines. The Omega Force series is great and each book satisfies, but book 12 just stopped, no conclusions, no resolution. The supporting cast had a lesser roll in this installment, which was disappointing, Jason’s role expanded, is he finally growing? Overall a good read (still), but
Joshua please do not leave us hanging.

Doesn't disappoint once again

Wow, is all I can say after reading this entry. I've loved this series from the beginning and each subsequent book revitalizes my interest in the while lore of Omega Force. This book was different the the usual hit em style of previous entries, but I love the direction it is heading towards and am amped about the future of the group. Without giving anything away, I'm pained about Luckys situation, however, the epilogue leaves it open for his own adventures to come. Once again, a great read and addition to the series. And once again, mad at myself I read it so quickly and have to wait once again for the next entry.... Whenever that will be released, but I'm standing by for it.

Jason and his team, minus Lucky, are still trying to stop the Machine, and failing miserably. Now he's about to take off after his wayward son, who stole Jason's ship. Mok, the so-called King of the underworld, who's part of the band of outlaws who are trying to save the galaxy, is devastated over the eight million people that lived on Mok's planet that were all killed by ConFed. Needless to say Mok is filled with rage and plans on getting even ConFed for the innocents killed.

No romance and the F-bomb was used 14 times.

As for the narration: Still enjoying Paul Heitsch. He is one awesome narrator.

I use ratings to decide which books I am going to buy, and I recently decided I am partially responsible for inflating the ratings on books. Either they were 5 star or 1 star. I decided to use the star rating more objectively as follows:

★★★★★ Great book! Can’t wait to read it again (and I will).
★★★★☆ Good book. I am glad I read this.
★★★☆☆ OK book. Nothing special but not bad.
★★☆☆☆ Not good. Why did I waste my time?
★☆☆☆☆ Lousy. I didn’t finish.

Another great installment in the OF saga. I look so forward to each new release. I hope Joshua never grows so tired of these characters that he stops writing about them. I look at this group as his version of the marvel universe. The perfect blend of action, character development, and humor.

I am heading back to reread the Black Fleet series while I await the next release.

As Admiral Ackbar said, it’s a trap!

Jason is very conflicted about his best response to the situation with his nascent rebellion against the Machine plus some personal issues that he’s dealing with. Alongside that, he’s worried about how Lucky is handling his “rebirth”. Plenty of action going on yet we are still waiting to see how it all shakes out.

Lucky and not Lucky

Exciting and complex. How to overcome the machine who is always one seeming step ahead of Jason. Doesn't look like this universe has ended.
All of Jason's friends, AI's, friends come together. But his son, Kellea and the augmented female hired to kill her, and the unlucky one have threads to be explored and enjoyed.

Jason and the team return, as the rebellion against the Machine continues. Always good to catch up with Omega Force, although it is much more expansive now, not just the team. Interesting couple of side stories developing, the hunt for Lucky and the inevitable meeting with his son.

Very good!!

A most excellent read! Continues the stories from where It left off. And it tied into the other books with his son very nicely. Can't wait to see where this goes, keep up the good work.

Awesome !

I’ve read everything Joshua has written up to this point. This is some of his best work, which is saying a lot. This book adds more directions this space opera can lead to in the future. Cant wait for more !!

Superb read, the story is well up to Jushua's usual standard. Really cannot wait to see what happens next though I did wonder if we would be jumping over to his son in the book so that left me wondering what was going on with them. Cant wait till dad meets back up with his errant son. I think Mok is going to have his hands full sounds like Lucky is after him

What took so long?

About time. This episode combines the action elementals we like most with a really scary upgrade to the bad guyssssssssssss. No spoilers here, but finished in a day. Hope the next comes a little faster as I am ready.

This series is a ton of fun!

I really like how the characters have developed. Like a ship full of guys would, they give each other a bunch of crap. The story is good, the bad guys are bad, the good guys are good and it is all entertaining.

The series has had ups and downs. But this is on par with the top three

Great addition to the series, well thought out plot and narrative. I seem to be spending way too much money on kindle books, but Joshua Dalzelle never dissapoints. Solid 5/7 (memeopedia it.)

Another fun romp,as Dalzelle ramps up the scale and the stakes in his ever expanding universe. It is easy for sci-fi author’s to trap themselves in increasingly silly twists, yet this author avoids such perils with real skill - producing deceptively simple tales that are rich in hidden depths.

A good book in the series

This was a good book in the series. It built on the need that the main character feels to fix the situation that is happening. It shows the guilt he has on a number of situations and how he is trying to fix them.

One more time, a group of spacers is trying to take down a malevolent artificial intelligence (AI) called the Machine. For some reason, this story did not have the zip and zing of some of Joshua Dalzelle's other space related science fiction. It just seemed to drag on and on.

I hate long drawn out senerio based books. I liked the Omega Force but it would be better if each book had an individual story line. I was really excited to read them but it just drags on and now we must wait again to see what happens. Twelve books an no end in sight.
