While Reese and Jo continue their march to the south, the Lavelle's quiet neighborhood is becoming decidedly less so as survivors of the wave begin to grow desperate in Broken Tide Book 2.
*****
When a massive landslide in the Canary Islands sets off a megatsunami, the east coast of North America is square in its path. On a fishing trip off the coast of Maine, Reese Lavelle barely manages to make it to high ground when the wave hits. His only thought? Getting home to his wife and daughter in South Carolina.
Cami and Amber Lavelle barely escape the wave in Charleston, they retreat inland, watching the city as it's wiped out by the wave in one fell swoop. As those who survived slowly sink into madness and the country succumbs to chaos, Cami's goal is simple: survive at any cost.
There is a lot of good action in this book as well as character development. I have come to really like Jo as a good strong woman with a quirky character. I also like that she and Reese are a solid duo but based on friendship and respect and no romance etc. I also like Marty in South Carolina and wish that his neighbors would pay better attention to him. Some of the plot is on the formulaic-been-there and done-that, such as, gangs/criminals taking over, absolutely no real response from authorities from outside the impact area, and, of course, the weak and conniving HOA neighbors. Even so, the story flows well and I look forward to book 3.
It is amazing how quickly our society can crumble. The rippling affect of one disaster quickly turns into many more. There are people who are prepared but many more that are not. Hard questions will be asked. What do you do? Do you help those who wouldn't or couldn't prepare? Do you jeopardize your own family to help others? Can you defend yourself? This book keeps you on the edge of your seat. What next as Reese and Jo try to make it home?
This was a pretty good book. It didn't have the Wow factor for me but it was still engaging. Sometimes the dialog is a little stilted but for the most part the characters are interesting. I like that there is two storylines going on at once because it keeps it from being boring.
It’s so easy to read this series. Pretty much like you are there with the characters. You follow the ones that have a long road to travel and those who just want to survive. And you (I did) wish you could stop those with evil intent. This book made me wonder what I would do if faced with such an apocalypse. It feels almost too real.
Fractured Coast: Broken Ride Book 2. This book is amazingly interesting. Both authors have kept characters straight, meaning the same persona as book one and not getting characters mixed up with each other. The book stays fixed in three main themes the same ones from book one. All this is good in fact excellent.
Reese and Cami have their hands full, Cami with low life’s trying to take over the neighbourhood and having to protect her friends and family. And Reese still fighting his way to get home to his family.
Wowser. Seriously good read. Good. Bad. And downright brilliant. Roll on book 3. Who’s going to win the survival of a life in an apocalyptically world.
Reese and Jo are on the move. Cami and the survivors are kicking ass and taking. Harriet and Darian are going to be trouble, but they have know idea what is in store for them. Waiting on the next book.
The two main characters are trying to take care as they each deal with problems. Like the way the plot is developing. Book three is on my kindle so am looking forward to it.
Buckle your seat belt as the ride hasn't gotten any easier! w comes the problem of dealing with the aftermath of a traumatic tsunami. Told from two view points the reader will begin to question how much more each can endure.
These people do such stupid stuff. You have a house full of supplies- supplies others are desperate for. So what's they do? Leave the house empty and go camping to practice shooting guns in the forest! And what is with Reese's need to keep turning down help. He has nothing, and someone offers him something and he's like " oh no. I couldn't possibly!" Stupid!

Well this book is as good as the others. I had to go back and read book one and two because I started with three. Don’t stop they are all good. I just wanted to fill in a few blanks from the story and I’m caught up now. This series would make a great movie.
Finally a woman making the decisions to help them all survive! No testosterone b.s. from the men, other than the typical gang mentality from the bad guys. Enjoyed the book & read it in one night.
Cami is a more than apt hero for the apocalypse that Charleston has become, but even in the midst of all the warfare we never lose sight that Reese's return is her real focus!
I loved Fractured Coast there was never a dull moment. It's certainly not a boring book, you can't jump pages or you would miss a storyline. It's a brilliant book. I have Maelstrom the third in a series of six on my kindle ready to read.
The two halves of the Lavelle family have been separated from each other by a freak megatsunami and its after-effects.
Now they must overcome the deadly dangers of a long-suffering Nature, which can bring out the best - and the worst in survivors and survivalists - and get back to safety, before another national disaster prevents them from having a happy reunion - forever!
Marcus Richardson and Mike Kraus' Broken Earth series' second novel, Fractured Coast, is a fast-moving, riveting action-thriller, with an outstanding storyline that will keep you on the edge of your seat throughout.
