I received an advanced reader copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I am also a member of the street team for this book, but as you can see from this disclaimer, I am here to write my honest thoughts.

Savy Leiser has a unique style of writing that I got to know from her fiction books; very conversational and casual. Listening to her usual writing voice in a non-fiction book about starting your own business was a very nice touch.
She has the credentials to write such a book, and it is easy to research and find out about all the things she does for her author career and her Furever Home Friends business. This book is as honest as they come, full of helpful tips and useful information for those who are looking to create their own small business but maybe don't know where to start. This is not a motivational book with affirmations and prayers and dreams. Here she details how she did it. Things may vary depending on the kind of business the reader is looking to start, and also, depending on which country the reader lives in, if outside of the United States, things might be a little bit different with some of the chapters of the book, but that is just common sense.

I'm giving it five stars because I read this book in one afternoon, with a robotic text to speech software because I am almost blind, and still, I was never bored or confused. I've read it twice, and gone back to specific chapters from time to time and took some notes. I fully recommend it and I hope this helps people to start their own thing.

Still debating whether I should give this book 4 or 5 stars. I’ll post a full review tomorrow after I’ve slept on it. Either way, it was an amazing book.😌

Okay, so I don't review many nonfiction books so bare with me. I genuinely did love the book. It provided amazing advice and I appreciated that it wasn't a motivational book. I already know I want to start a business in the future and I only wanted to know what to expect.

My favorite section was The Myths of Boss Babe Life, which was mostly talking about how MLM is a scam, but it was helpful to see what I'd be getting into when I do start my own business. It was exactly what I needed to hear and then some. It dealt with the personal side of starting a business and the actual business part. It was good to familiarize myself with these strange terms that I'll eventually have to get more comfortable with.

My gripe with the book was that I felt it glorified hustle culture. I understand starting a business is difficult and will take a toll, but I reject the idea that anyone should work that much. This really stood out to me in the networking chapter. Savy calls networking her only hobby and that did make me feel uncomfy. I love Savy and we've talked about this before, but I really do value creative play. Doing something just because it's fun and for no other reason. I dislike the idea of everything about your life being tied to work, even your "hobbies". This combined with the her saying she worked 100+ hours a week all combined to create a lowkey glorification of hustle culture that me feel uncomfy. The networking chapter wasn't all that bad though! It inspired me to join my entrepreneur's club at school, but I still think the networking chapter could've been written in a way where it didn't encourage readers to rotate their whole life around their work.

Overall, I did love this book and I'd rec it to anyone who is thinking of starting a business. I won't be starting a business anytime soon, but it gave me a better view of what I'll be getting myself into. Also Savy is just an amazing person and I love them so much. Just by reading this book, she offers her email and actively asks the reader to email her for questions. And as someone who considers Savy a lowkey mentor and knows I can go to her with any questions, she's a good person to back you up.

I was given a free ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Was so impressed by this book!

I originally found Savvy through her YouTube channel and really appreciated her book reviews. The world of business books are saturated with positive thinking, vision boards, and get rich quick schemes. So very few talk about actually how to run a business, let alone admit to the fact that they either came from wealth or had insane connections that helped push them to success.

I really appreciate Savvy's honesty, showing that yes it is hard work, and it will take time, while also giving the reader real insight into how she ran her own small business.

While all the tips may not apply to everyone's situation, I feel that it is a great read to not only generate ideas for your own small business, but also to shake up the genre and give the reader a dose of reality. It's not easy, but that doesn't mean its not doable or worth it.

Also can I get a, "HELL YEAH" for small business!!?? Not everyone wants to be running a million dollar company, some of us just want to be able to pay our bills and enjoy life a little! Can we get more books that shoot for that please?

I found Savy on YouTube a while back and decided to read her new book. I’m currently at a crossroads in deciding if I want to drop my current standard life track and jump into entrepreneurship, so it was a very timely read!

I enjoyed the book and found it way more useful than the typical motivational books geared towards people with dreams. It gave me some ideas that I would have never considered and made me feel like my ideas could be put into tangible action. I would recommend it to anyone who is thinking about any sort of business venture (except, of course, an mlm because Savy will come after you).

My only gripe with the book is more of a personal one and it’s just that I’m not super into the excited, conversational tone of the book. It’s written exactly how she speaks in her YouTube videos, and I don’t mind her videos, but I prefer non-fiction books that aren’t quite so conversational the entire way through.

I love Savy Leiser's work and have followed her for quite some time now. As a fellow business owner, I've been wanting to check this out. While it can be helpful for many small business owners, if you are in the writing/publishing field, you'll especially find this helpful.

What I love about this book is the honesty Savy has. While she did have some monetary help from savings she had, she's honest about the privilege and "luck" she's had. And with that, that doesn't mean she hasn't had to struggle to get her business started.

Looking to expand my own business further, I feel like I was able to take some valuable information from her and actually use that for my own business. While I feel motivated after reading other business books, I find I never have proper steps to take, whereas I found myself taking notes, highlighting information, and pausing my reading with this book in order to make sure I planned my business properly!

I loved this book! I've recently launched my first self published book and have been struggling to get my small business off the ground and this book had a lot of tips I cannot wait to try along with a lot of wonderful shifts in perspectives that I really appreciated. Despite the book insisting it's not motivating, I found it incredibly motivating. It's such a relief to know that slow growth and the feeling of screaming into the void of social media does not mean I'm doing everything wrong! The author's voice is just like her voice on her YouTube channel and make it a friendly, accessable read. I'm not usually a fan of non-fiction books, but this one grabbed my attention and held on through every page! I recommend it to anyone starting or still in the early days of a small business!

I really enjoyed this book, which is rare for me in the self help genre. The advice is blunt and to the point, no frills. Savy is funny and relatable with her stories. As someone who watches her YouTube channel, I had high hopes for her book and it definitely delivered.

I also thought the advice was highly actionable. This isn't some pie in the sky 'mindset' help. It's real step by step advice you can do right now.

Very Good info!

I want to start a business related to herbalism, so after years of following Savvy on YouTube and Instagram, I decided to bite the bullet and study business tools beforehand to gain some perspective. Gotta say, I love this book! Breaks down realistic planning steps instead of that fluffy feel-good crap that often plagues this genre. Thanks Savvy!

This might be the only book about small business ownership I've ever read that's full of good and applicable advice. I love Savy's down-to-earth, realistic approach to a topic that's often overburdened with meaningless platitudes and fluff. The book is so refreshingly honest and authentic. Reading it felt like sitting down with a real human being and getting some much-needed business mentoring.

I love nothing more than actionable advice from someone who's done it themselves and this book delivers! Not everything applied to me but it was helpful, funny, and gave me new ideas.
