When a Human chid is kidnapped in the middle of the night, everything points to a member of the Other society. This could have devastating consequences on the law they hope to pass, one which would give all Others the right to freedom, a chance to shake off the shackles the Humans insist they wear.
To date, Detective Cade MacDonald has dealt with thirty-five cases where Others were proven to have ruthlessly killed Humans. Now, it seems, case thirty-six may have landed on his desk.
Casey Mire is six years old when he spots a wolf in the woods. Unaware of the war between his species and the Others, he sneaks out in the middle of the night to find the elusive wolf.
But little Casey never returns.
It is now Cade’s job to uncover what happened to the young boy. At the same time, he has crucial decisions to make—about himself and about the rest of his life.
My name is Mason Sabre. I have been writing since I was a small child and discovered I could have a million adventures at the stroke of my pencil (I wasn't allowed to use pen back then). I have written more stories than I could even publish, some of them I wouldn't ever put out, but I have had a blast writing them. I love writing, I love reading. I love to have a fictional adventure. When I am not doing that I am with my children or studying. I have a lifelong love of learning too.
I live in the North of England. It's a little chilly here and a little wet, but it is what I call home and where pretty much all of my stories are based.
Another of Mason’s companion novellas in his Society Series, CASE36 will have you utterly intrigued from the very first page.
Cade is determined to solve the mystery of the case he has in front of him, but at what cost? A little boy is missing ... what has become of him? Will he be found before something sinister happens?
Mystery and suspense had me gripped. Mason’s attention to even the most minor of detail, had me wanting more. This is another brilliant read from a very talented author.
For die-hard Society fans, the ending will leave you gobsmacked.
Besides the ongoing issue about Cade and his life with Gemma and Phoenix in danger, Cade has a case of a missing child. This was so dark and heartbreaking. Seems like Others aren't better than Humans.
I love it when Mason surprises his readers with a story that was unexpected. Case 36 is a companion story to his Society Series. I was thrilled to read about Cade, Gemma, Stephen and Phoenix when times were simpler for them, if you could ever call being an Other and living in a world of Humans who dislike you, simple.
Case 36 is a mystery that is written in true Mason Sabre style. He takes the reader on a gripping story that is the perfect blend of paranormal and horror which one would expect from such a gruesome crime. I was sure I knew answer to the mystery and then in true Mason Sabre fashion he took me for a spin I did not see coming.
What truly makes this story for me is getting back to the friendship these characters have with one another. So much has happened to these characters throughout this series and it was nice to be able to read about them when times were not so tumultuous. I can only keep my fingers and toes crossed in hopes that these characters will have a happy ending once this series is complete.
Case 36 is a fantastic revisit to a bygone era in Mason Sabre's Society Series. Cade and Gemma, while in a precarious situation, are still in the grips of late pregnancy glow, making plans, and looking forward to their future.
Sabre's latest installment in the Society Series stays true to core values, juxtaposing Humans and Others, while reminding readers to be careful who you trust and nothing is as it seems. Answers to long asked questions are revealed, but they come with a price.
Brilliant as ever, Case 36 is a must-read for any fan of this series or author, containing a little bit for everyone: romance, mystery, action, and horror. I simply loved this book.
This story helps us learn a bit more of what was happening between Gemma and Cade between Dark Veil and Hidden. There are some steamy moments between them that will leave you breathless! If you are new to the Society series then get ready to dive in to a fantastic story! I expect to enjoy everything the author writes and he did not disappoint me. This is a mystery and just when I thought I had it all figured it out - I was wrong! The story takes twist and turns that I did not see coming! Be warned, don’t start this book and think you’ll read a chapter or two then put it down. Once you start, you will not be able stop until the mystery is solved! I’m excited for everyone to read this amazing story!
This was a little rough storyline but was written well and told in a manner that you got what happened.. without all the dirty details. Not to say there wasn’t some graphic scenes but some was left to the imagination. Bad things happen in this world like no Other.. but the connection between some of these characters is what brings the story to life and that keeps me coming back for more.
Wow ! This is powerful stuff! Mason Sabre takes us, the reader, back in time and gives us a further insight into Society series fan’s favourite characters. The predicament of the situation that Cade & Gemma are in, together with the mystery of a young child missing, really made gripping reading.
Mr Sabre shows us that he really is a master storyteller and difficult topics are handled with skill and care. A must-read for all the Society Series fans.
It was great to revisit these characters we love back before everything happened. Back before so much changed. Just like with all the other books in this series, the story will suck you in and have you guessing what will happen next. Your reader emotions will be on high alert. Your mind racing to try and put the puzzle pieces together. Case 36 is one you need to experience.
Magnificent Society-novel filled with tension fear, anger, love, danger and heartbreak. In ‘Case 36’ there is a Human child missing, and that always tugs on my heartstrings, being a mother and a schoolteacher. Each novel in this series makes me desperate to pick up the next one and continue reading. Splendid, all around.
While I am glad to finally hear more of Cade and Gemmas story. This book falls back on the time line a bit and I would really like to know where they are now.
When the most horrific thing happens the race is on to solve the crime, find the culprit and stop an even bigger rift between humans and others. A great read dark, raw and disturbing but a compelling read, couldn't put it down!
