Sinai to Zion is an exciting study of how the Bible uses the Exodus story as the basis for its vision concerning the glorious and triumphant return of Jesus the Messiah. For the first time, this book presents a thorough examination of many often-overlooked, yet critically important Old Testament texts that the Old Testament prophets and the New Testament authors looked to as describing the return of Jesus. Particular emphasis is given to the Blessings of Moses, the Song of Deborah, the Prayer of Habakkuk, the Great Processional Psalm of King David, the Prophecy of Enoch, and several other fascinating prophecies. The reader will discover how both the New and the Old Testaments frame the coming of the Messiah as the greater or final Exodus. Readers will be reinvigorated with excitement for the return of Jesus. The same firey God who came down upon Mount Sinai in the thick clouds, in blazing fire, with the blasting of trumpets, and a mighty earthquake, is indeed coming back in the thick clouds, in blazing fire, with the blasting of trumpets, and a mighty earthquake to save His people Israel and faithful believers throughout the World. This is arguably the best book Joel Richardson has ever written.
Joel Richardson is a husband and a father committed to the pro-life and adoption movements. He is an artist, human rights activist, New York Times Bestselling author, internationally recognized speaker and recognized expert on Bible prophecy and the Middle East. Joel’s heart is thoroughly missional, with a deep love for Muslims and the peoples of the Middle East.
Joel has been also featured on, or written for numerous radio, television and news outlets across the world including the Glenn Beck Show, the Mike Huckabee Show, the Gordon Liddy Show, the Dennis Miller Show, Chicago Public Radio, the Steve Malzberg Show, the Sid Roth Show, Jewish Voice Today, Janet Folger, Jan Markell, Janet Parshal, Kirby Anderson’s Point of View, the New York Daily News, WND, the Blaze, Front Page Magazine and many others.
Joel Richardson has written a thorough and compelling book connecting the themes and imagery found in the Exodus and Sinai covenant to the return of Jesus at the day of the Lord.
Many Christians are woefully unfamiliar with the Pentateuch and don't connect with the full drama and sweep of the scriptures. Joel shows that from the beginning, history has been marching towards the day of the Lord and the redemption of Israel, and shows how God has woven shadows of what is to come throughout the books of Moses and the prophets.
This book is a wonderful resource that takes you step by step through Israel's wedding of Sinai and the wedding supper of the Lamb to take place on Mount Zion and all of the parallels between these two deeply related events. I highly recommend it.
An important essential reference work on the Second Coming of Christ Joel Richardson has written many compelling and provocative prophecy books over the years. His work identifying Islam and the Caliphate with the Beast Kingdom of Revelation 13 set a new standard for this interpretation of prophecy (and one I have long believed) while his book on Mystery Babylon being tied to Mecca/Saudi Arabia seems more of a stretch. In this, his latest book, Joel Richardson hits a home run. Starting with the "Desert Fathers" i.e., Old Testament Prophets who spoke of the Conquering Messiah and the judgement of Israel's enemies, Richardson digs deep into three largely ignored facets of Bible prophecy. First, he points out that the Covenant imagery of the Old Testament portrays Israel as Christ's Bride. This will bother some Christians who have been taught their whole life that ONLY the Gentile Church is Christ's Bride. But there is so much Bridal imagery in Isaiah and other books associated with the Israelites that a broader view of the "Bride" as God's entire people (who all inhabit the New Jerusalem "Bride" of Revelation 21) is presented... and it is important to understanding why Christ will comes as an all-consuming fire against the enemies of His People at the Second Advent. Secondly, Richardson dives deep into the period called either Jacob's Trouble or the Great Tribulation. Richardson writes what most people are not comfortable discussing: that Israel faces her greatest test in the days to come. That the modern state of Israel will again be overrun by enemies and God's people scattered is a prophetic truth modern evangelicals, Messianic believers, and Jewish people do not want to contemplate. Richardson, a Jewish Believer in Christ, tackles this truth head-on. Third (and finally), Richardson goes into detail as to the path Jesus takes at His Second Coming. Point two is important to appreciate the wholly scriptural view of the Old Testament that Christ's Return actually begins in Egypt with a "Second Exodus" of exiled Jews to be saved and an Army of Raptured and Resurrected Saints accompanying Him. Again, Christians who are only invested in Acts 1:11 will immediately rebel against this idea. But patiently let Joel Richardson lead you through the scriptures. It all comes together in this meaty, serious-minded, triumphant exploration of Second Coming scriptures both Old Testament and New. I cannot recommend this enough. It's such a great book. I pray it's not too late for the sleeping post-modern Church to see a revival of interest in Bible prophecy. We are closer every day. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
I really tried to like to like this book. I've listened to Joel Richardson before and enjoyed his wealth of knowledge and heart for God. So I had high expectations for this book.
I was disappointed though. It just failed to capture my imagination and cause me to become emotionally invested in it. It is full of Scripture which was a huge plus.
Also, I found way too many typos for a book that cost me $25. I expect a couple with any book, but this one has major typos (things like misspelling "throng" as "thong", repeated phrases, like "His people His people, etc). This might seem petty, but to me it shows lack of attention to detail.
I will definitely read it again to give it another shot, but my rating of 3 stars stands for now. If not for the information presented and the vast amounts of Scripture present in the book, it would probably be 1 or 2 stars.
Amazing book for all! The first half is revelational for newer eschatological explorers while the second half reveals mind blowing revelations to veterans. Joel writes with an authority beyond academics. He leads tours to Sinai and writes from experience and insight befitting those with a deep relationship and authority in the land itself. I highly recommend picking up this book and studying the messianic desert prophecies of the return of Jesus!
Didn't finish... I've read a few other books by this author but this one was getting to be a chore to read and since I'm not super heavily invested into either supporting or refuting his ideas, I would rather leave this for another day. Perhaps I'll come back to it.
Once again Joel brings a thought provoking view of scripture of which I totally agree with. Great bible study. So looking forward to his next book and revelation of scripture
Great insight about Jesus coming back and how it fits with Old Testament verses Wonderful explanation of how Jesus life fits with Old Testament teachings
