Blackstone Ranger Rogue

Rate this book
The one she’s been searching for

Darcey Wednesday’s been looking for love her entire life, with not much luck. Every guy she kisses turns out to be a frog, and not her Prince Charming. But she and her inner swan know that there’s someone out there for them. When her sister’s wedding brings her to the shifter town of Blackstone, she runs into her fated mate, forest ranger Anders Stevens. But when he rejects her, she decides she’s done looking for love. No more kissing frogs, no more chasing after unavailable men--she’s keeping her heart locked in a cage from now on.

The one he’s been hiding from

Tiger shifter Anders Stevens knows fated mates exist--and that’s the problem. Mates were nothing but heartache, so he carefully crafted his status as the town womanizer, playboy, and all out tomcat, never letting anyone close enough to see beyond the surface. So when his tiger declares that Darcey Wednesday is his mate, he knows he has to do everything in his power to repel her so she never gets the chance to see past his roguish reputation.

But fate refuses to be thwarted, and the more he resists her, the more his desire for her grows and he finds he can’t stay away. And as Darcey starts seeing the real Anders, she’s finding it harder and harder to keep her emotions in check and her heart locked up.

Will these two lost souls continue to fight to protect their hearts or will they succumb to what fate has brought them?

Okay I’m officially obsessed with this series. This book was everything I hoped it would be and more!
We’ve only gotten to know Anders on a superficial level in the previous books, and it’s gradually revealed to us that there’s a lot more to him than meets the eye. He’s got a tragic backstory, which explains why he pushes people away and why everyone hates him so much. Darcey, on the other hand, is a complete sweetheart, and she’s spent the majority of her adult life searching for her mate. Alicia Montgomery is definitely the queen of the trope of opposites attracting. Darcey and Anders’s love story is incredibly compelling!
One thing I love about this series is that while it’s “fated mates”, the couples don’t get together immediately, for whatever reason. This book doesn’t disappoint on that front, and there are a lot of obstacles--these ones mental--keeping Darcey and Anders from professing their undying love.
We meet a new ranger in this book--Cam--who’s a reserved scientist who seemingly has no sense of humour. I’m looking forward to the Blackstone Ranger Scrooge, which will feature him!
As with the other books in this series, we get a sneak peek of who the couple will be in the next book. So, of course, I’ll be reading that one immediately.

💋💋

Anders finally gets his comeuppance thanks to Alicia and her talented pen.

Both Darcey and Anders seriously need their heads banging together, that was my initial thought by halfway through the book, I wanted to shake them both.
As usual there is a reason for all things and it becomes clear in the end. All is sorted by the conclusion of this wonderful book though it’s very emotional and in places heartbreaking for these two, so get ready for a tissue break.

I’ve really enjoyed every page, if you know the series you’ll know what a Ladies man Anders is also what and unmitigated fool he is to. More to that is revealed.
As for Darcey who is a foundling and grew up in foster care, we get to know her story and background too.

There is some dynamic characters and brilliant chemistry with this book and I think it’s probably my favourite of this new series.

I received an Arc copy of this book and chose to post this review

3.5 meh stars. What can I say? I’m sucker for hot hunky covers and I never learn my lesson.

This is a story about rejected mate but it’s so boring and predictable towards the last 50%. Anders only started his groveling act and accepted Darcy after he found out she’s pregnant. So I wonder if Darcy is not pregnant will he continue rejecting her? Meh…

The characters; Darcy wants to be loved and Anders is fighting the attraction until they know this is FATE - no point in fighting it!! The dialogue as always is fast paced and such fun!! the other characters dropping in just add to the fun!!! Love this story and cannot wait for the next one!!!!
I received an ARC in return for my honest opinion - and I went ahead and purchased a copy as well - need to keep her writing!!!

Fantastic black Swan and tiger shifters romance

Darcey is a black Swan shifter and an orphan.she meets her mate, a tiger shifter named Ander, who reject her. They can't keep away from each other. One day Darcey is attacked in her store. Why?

This fast paced mysterious drama has characters that fiesty, misunderstood, and have emotional baggage. I like the way Ander tries to grovel to Darcey. It hilarious.

Highly recommended for a quick engaging read.

Darcey is Sarah's sister and she is celebrating the wedding of Sarah and Daniel. She does not feel happy to celebrate such occasion and her swan seems to keep looking for a mate. She had numerous relationships but it all ended disastrously and she cannot help herself that she wants to look for love despite of her failed relationships. Suddenly, her swan perks up and it seems to find something that leads her to see a man. As soon as he turns toward her, Darcey is surprised to see that she found her mate and she is ecstatic about meeting him. However, she does not expect the rejection coming from him as he says he is not the type of man to do a relationship. Anders is known as the town's playboy and has a reputation he maintains especially with women. Darce was heartbroken that her mate does not want to accept her and pushed her away from him. The story is well-written, I like how Anders' past was explained, and the plot twist is good. Darcey is a strong, beautiful, and brave woman and I like the character development of Anders as he tries to become a better man for her. I enjoyed read the story and how they finally accepted their mating. I am glad that they have a HEA ending and Darcey found a home with his mate.

What do you do when the mate connection isn't enough?

Oh, the pain and heartache in this book! Darcey has been looking for her mate for years, and when she runs into Anders at her sister's wedding, her hopes are joyously confirmed for a hot minute before being resoundingly denounced by the man who absolutely, without question, never ever ever wants to be in a bonded, mated relationship.

Of course Anders isn't the playboy jerk he wants everyone to believe he is, and the story behind his sealed-up heart is a real tear-jerker. Even so, he can't keep his distance from Darcey for long, but just as it looks like things are working out he's reminded of the cost of love and sets fire to everything only to realize minutes later - but much too late now - that he's been so very wrong about so very much.

I love the way the author started with two characters that we've known for a while from previous books, but now we get their full backstories and can really understand why their relationship is fraught with so many angsty obstacles. All the details are eventually revealed and the intense action scene blows all the secrets wide open. Their HEA was at the end of a very sweet redemptive journey. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know both characters.

A nice bonus was getting hints about a future couple, two people we've known through several books yet I couldn't have guessed that they'd be matched together. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

A fascinating rogue but irritating details
4 stars overall, 4 stars story, 4 stars narration

I have sung the praises of the previous three books in this series and gave them all 5 stars. The interesting obstacles in the plot of this shifter romance kept me glued to the book. I was surprisingly pleased by the angsty rogue hero. From what I knew of him from previous books as a minor character, I thought I would dislike the guy, but his backstory made his moody hot/cold attitude toward the heroine very understandable.

While I think this audiobook is worth listening to, it has a few things that decreased my enjoyment. My two main problems were with the narrator and heroine. The narrator makes the heroine sound like a wimpy version of a Marilyn Monroe character, which I find irritating. Also, the heroine doesn’t take her own safety seriously enough to think about possible threats. She ignores some seriously strange events instead of thinking about them or telling someone else who could help her figure them out. I found that so irritating that I had to give the book 4 stars instead of 5.

I requested and received a free audiobook copy via #AudiobookObsession and the Flock VIP Review Team, and I voluntarily wrote this honest review.

After Darcey moves to Blackstone, her life will never be the same. For the first time she is living among other shifters. She realizes that her swan has spent years looking for her mate. When she meets Anders at her sisters wedding, she thinks she has finally found him. Until he immediately tells her he will never be anyone's mate. Darcey gives up the dream of HEA and works on happy for now. Anders soon realizes his tiger quite as willing to give up his mate. I wasn't sure Anders was redeemable. His antics in previous books made an impact. Without spoiling it, I will just say, I forgive him. Their story begins with heartache. But their journey is filled with soo much more. With forgiveness and healing, they will find their HEA. I thought it was wonderful! Ms. Montgomery continues to amaze me with her talent to create characters that I truly care for and will never forget. I was lucky enough to receive an early copy. This is my voluntary and honest opinion. The town of Blackstone is a remarkable place I have come to love.

Blackstone Ranger Rogue by Alicia Montgomery is a paranormal romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Tara Langella.

This is the forth book in the Blackstone Rangers series and can be read as a stand-alone. However, I would recommend reading in order since the books are interconnected.

This is the first series of Alicia’s that I have read and it definitely won’t be my last. She does an amazing job pulling you into the story. I absolutely loved the relationship that bloomed between Darcey and Anders.

I can't wait for the next book in the series Blackstone Ranger Guardian to be released on audio so I can get John and Dutchy story.

Tara did a great job on the narration. I liked that she used different/tones voices for each character. It really brought the story to life. I look forward to listening to more of her work in the future.

I would recommend this book if you like paranormal romances or romantic suspense.

When I read Sarah’s book, Blackstone Ranger Hero, I hoped we’d get Darcy’s book and here it is! She’s a swan shifter, so this was a first for me … not just the swan itself, but reading in the perspective of a non-predatory shifter. Interesting for sure. And let’s face it: interesting and different are hard to come by these days so kudos to Montgomery!

Darcy’s inner voice is distinctly different from that of other shifters I’ve read; it seems the author did a good job here. This installment brings a ton of drama and a few mysteries so it’s very fast-paced and a fun read. Will seek more from this author. Perfect listen for while I work.

4 stars.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Note:
I listened to the audiobook. Like the rest in this series so far, the narrator’s voice is smooth and pleasant. Hope to hear more from her. Really nice job with the different voices and accents as well, which enhanced the reader experience. A 4.5-star performance.

I found my favourite Blackstone Rangers couple, I like Darcey's sweet and naturing nature that conflicts with Anders's dominating womanising personality and his internal trauma that makes him deny love. The sweetest part of this story is when Darcey rather have Anders snarky personality instead of I laughed a lot at so many things that happened, one memorable moment was when Anders met his match! I really love Adam in this story and I hope that he makes more appearances in the remaining two books in the series, him and his smart mouth will be missed if he doesn't make another appearance before the end. Another favourite moment is

I really enjoyed this story! It pulled me in from beginning to end and it was really interesting getting to know Anders behind the mask that he puts on for the world. I loved Darcey and Anders together. It takes them quite a bit to get to where they need to be but it was a good journey for them. They have to deal with figuring out who they are and how to be true to themselves. There was plenty of action and intrigue to hold my attention. I really felt for both of the characters though Anders was a hard nut to crack at first. He comes off as this manwhore that just cares about partying and nothing else but that is very far from the truth. This story was also fun for me. It was entertaining and I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

As Blackstone Ranger Hero ended, the mystery is, who or what caused Swan Darcey Wednesday’s tears? Well, Darcey’s mate, determined to be alone tiger Anders Stevens, has both a lewd suggestion and a rejection to Darcey’s mate claim, leaving her bereft and aggrieved. When the other women find out, they make a plan making Anders miserable.

Little did they know, Anders epitomizes miserable since before they met him and only fake Anders is suitable for people. Though he’s still quite a jerk, meanwhile, Darcey gets information she’s been searching for, for quite a while. And she’s being stalked.

Even though Darcey and Anders are mates, when they first met he rejected her. Due to his upbringing he is determined never to have a mate and tries to keep Darcey at arms length. No matter how far he runs, he can’t get her out of his mind. When trouble comes calling all he can think about is protecting her. When keeping his distance is impossible, Anders must make peace with his past if he is to have any chance of a future with Darcey. But will it be too late?
It was good to discover with Anders what you see is definitely not what you get. Although he is kind, caring and protective, there were times I felt the man does protest too much! This is a good, sometimes sad read of a mate in denial.

If you have read previous books of the Blackstone Rangers series you may already know both protagonists, Darcy and Anders.
Darcy comes to Blackstone after her sister had accidentally married - and later fallen in love with - Daniel, and Anders is the ranger known to always look out for another woman, taking nothing seriously.
We meet quite a different Anders now,, vulnerable, insecure and with a very serious side. Because of his insecurities he rejects Darcy as his mate, but when she is in danger, he steps up. But there is a long way to go for him to believe he deserves a mate.
A lovely story, despite the shifter background the feelings seem very believable as is the struggle both have to face. A book that is difficult to put away.

Oh Anders, be still my heart! I'm such a sucker for the alphole who's really a sweetheart underneath the facade.

This was shifter fated mate story which I enjoyed because even though they were shifters this was not an insta love or match!
Darcey is Sarah's sister who we met in Blackstone Rogue. She's soft spoken, sweet shy and always on the look out for her fated mate.

To her surprise she meets him at Sarah's wedding! It's none other than Anders, the Jerry, obnoxious Ranger the other guys are friends with.

This book is my favorite in the series!!
I loved how indifferent Darcey was to Anders and it drove him nuts!!

Tara Langella narrated this entire series and she does a great job, but I do wish there was a male narrator as well with this series.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. Wow, that is mit quite what I expected. Anders is trying very hard to have everyone around him believe he's just an ass and has dates every other night - just to not be getting close to someone. An then there's his mate he recognised from the first second their eyes met and he's about to so anything to stay away from her. Even though it's hurting the both of them. But when danger comes way to close to her, he has to overcome his past or there won't be a future! Wow, that one is the best in the series yet, though all the others are just as awesome.

Can a tiger change his stripes?

The first four books give an unfavorable depiction of Anders Stevens. He is a jerk and womanizer, which is exactly how he wants it. When Darcy Wednesday meets him she knows immediately that he's her mate and he does NOT do relationships. It didn't take long for me to change my mind about him even if I wanted to smack him. They will have to fight some pretty harrowing family issues and will discover new family ties. This is a heartbreaking and heartwarming story all in one. I requested a free advance copy of this book and am under no obligation to write this review.

Holy sushi rolls!!

I am totally in love with Anders! I have a new book boyfriend and he will take a lot to beat! This book totally flipped my preconceived ideas of him from previous books and as for Darcey, what a sweetheart. This book flips everything you know about the rangers on its head and I literally can't wait for Kreigers and Duchys story to come out! This has been my favourite book of the series so far, such great plot twists and revelations, loved it! Please Alicia write JDs story soon and put us out of our misery!!

💢What do you get when you fall in love? Double wow I’m telling you this series is absolutely phenomenal.
🔹️A Tiger Shifter Anders and a Swan and ugly duckling to boot, Darcey. And of course someone always wants to get richer and more powerful. But the truth will prevail!!

I was gifted this book In exchange for an honest review. I was totally absorbed in this story, Alicia at her very best. Dealing with two complicated mates, who keep missing their opportunities, to the plot twists, it will keep you entertained and satisfied with each page. The shifter sex is hot but doesn’t overwhelm the pace of the story. This is so engaging, to me the true talent of an author is when I can visualise the story as I read it. Another talent is to be able to write a series of books with each one being individual enough that you can read as stand a alone. You won’t be disappointed

Stalker??

Anders isn't exactly who he proclaims to be. When Darcey and he realize they are mates, he says some mean and rude things and walks away.
Her swan may say they are mates but since he doesn't want her she is willing to date others to find her happy ever after.
Now someone may be stalking her, but who is it? And why?
I love this whole series starting way back to the first book centered in Blackstone. I believe that I would even live there if it was a real place. Who wouldn't want a strong sexy shifter as a mate?
Read this series to find out exactly what I am talking about.

Pure love

Anders has been misleading folks all his life. Making people believe he's a womanizing jerk, who cares about nothing but himself. But when Sarah walks into his life his charade is sorely tested. He doesn't want to admit he's really a good guy, cause he doesn't believe he is. Sarah has been searching for her mate her whole life and is devastated by Anders initial response to her. And there begins two shifters fighting their nature, which is virtually impossible. Add in friends, family (good and bad) and awkward situations and you have a charming, touching story of love and redemption.

Kindest Rogue and the orphan

This story was interesting with several twists and turns. I think most of the story takes place with great flow and intrigue, but there are some parts that seem left unresolved... I would have thought that part of his story would be to have perhaps his mother's mate insist on acknowledging her son... Especially as his son has met him and wants to get to know him. I enjoy the parts of both the adopted sisters stories that includes Adam he's very smart... the trip to Australia was interesting... too who would have thought a mute Swan could be so vindictive...
