It’s a story about a woman Stephanie Harris, who calls Tracey Mark panicked for an appointment but is killed before she even meets Tracey. Tracey has her doubts and she decides to investigate the case. Tracey has a help from her boyfriend Jack and best friend Susie.
Tracey is back with thrilling and dangerous case. While investigating Stephanie Harris, Tracey finds herself at Stephanie’s school which leads to number of suspects and their secrets. During investigation Tracey has help from her boyfriend Jack – a criminal private investigator, and her lawyer best friend Susie, who gives Tracey a new perspective when she faces a Dead End.
This is second book in Tracey Mark’s Mystery series. Private investigator (PI) and Author Ellen Shapiro has done fabulous job of writing an intriguing storyline. I have thoroughly enjoyed the experience of thrilling story which kept me on edge until the last page. Susie is a friend everybody should have, intelligent brave , gives reality checks when needed and partner in crime. Jack is brilliant too.
I liked how Tracey’s Character has a growth from first book. Tracey’s character is not stagnant, it keeps on evolving during the storyline of the first book and in this book. Her character keeps on growing beautifully, I love her character, one of the most brilliantly written character.

Tracey Marks, Private Investigator, is back and this time the case involves murder! Shapiro serves up a lightweight murder mystery with enough tension to keep us nervous about how the case will end but not going past the edge of no return for a cozy. She has developed her characters into 3-dimensional people a reader wants to get closer to and read more about. Tracey is like a modern-day Jessica Fletcher, a strong, independent, woman who forms relationships with everyone she meets from the doorman to the cashier at the coffee shop.
When a potential client does not show up for her appointment, Tracey gets concerned which, due to all the reasons she became an investigator, leads her to start investigating what happened. Discovering that the potential client has been killed simply drives Tracey’s unrelenting commitment to determine just what took place.
This is a terrific read for any mystery lover. A perfect read for a rainy day or weekend break!

Shapiro is back with her second mystery featuring Tracey Marks. When a potential client turns up dead, Tracey is down the rabbit hole of maybe? clues, trying to get to the truth. Tracey’s independent nature with a drop of quirky humor leads the reader on another whodunit?
While this series has the feel of a cozy mystery, it also has enough gumption to be a light mystery, filling a void for the reader who wants just a little more. This is a book of multiple moving parts that are anchored by Tracey, her love interest Jack (also a PI) and her best friend, Susie. Keep your eye on the clues and maybe you can solve the mystery before Tracey (I doubt it, but it can’t hurt to try)!
