The Grove #2

Lost in the Silence

Rate this book
The final book in the Grove series…

Cara
A monster tore our lives apart. Left us in ruins.
I didn’t think I would survive.
None of us should have survived.
Life as I knew would never be the same, but I had no choice but to embrace it.
Failing isn’t an option when it comes to those I love.
Until I realize there’s a bigger monster lurking in the shadows, ready to tear our happiness and livelihoods into pieces.
I’m plunged into darkness, a living nightmare I can’t escape from.
I survived the first monster with permanent scars that are embedded into my soul.
What will this monster leave me with?
Maybe I won’t survive at all.

Jackson
She shines like a bright light in my dark life.
She pleads with me to live.
To fight through the chaos that I’m drowning in.
I’m lost in my own silence.
But piece by piece, she drags me out.
She breathes air into my lungs as I slowly come back to life.
Until I blink, and she’s gone.
It’s then that I realize, it’s not the air in my lungs that I need to live.
It’s her.

📚'LOST IN THE SILENCE'📚 is the second full length book in author A.R. Breck's 'The Grove' series. Spoken in 'Dual Perspectives.' Picks up where the previous book left off.

God my heart went from broken to mended simultaneously, this author quickly became a favourite of mine just on this series alone.

This is a continuation of Jackson & Cara, Jackson is a shell of the guy he used to be, spiralling down a dark tunnel with no light on the horizon, it's heartbreaking to read, but it just flows so real.
I didn't know if Cara would've been able to pull him through but her strength and their love proved otherwise. But just when you think life has finished knocking them down...

Think again..

Because...This author wasn't finished with them yet.

These two were so well matched, the love in showed in his actions radiated off the pages, you could feel it, the way even in the shadows how he protected her before he even knew what love was had me reeling in his wake.

This quote out of the book pretty much sums it all up...

𝐖𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐋𝐨𝐠𝐚𝐧, 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐩𝐮𝐫𝐞.
𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭.
𝐌𝐲 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮...𝐢𝐭'𝐬 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐞𝐥𝐬𝐞.
𝐈𝐭'𝐬 𝐫𝐚𝐰 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐟𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐛𝐮𝐦𝐩𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐛𝐫𝐮𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐬.
𝐈𝐭'𝐬 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐭 𝐨𝐧 𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐟 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬.
𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐞.
𝐈𝐭'𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐟𝐥𝐮𝐟𝐟𝐲 𝐨𝐫 𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐲.
𝐈𝐭'𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠.
𝐈𝐭'𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐈 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐭.

𝐢𝐭 𝐦𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐟𝐥𝐚𝐰𝐬, 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐢𝐭'𝐬 𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐲.
𝐈𝐭'𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥...

I loved this series, these characters, the grit, the feels, I’m just sad that I have to say goodbye to all of these characters.

Now that was much better than book 2.

First off the bat, the heroine. Ugh. What she did to her child's prospective mom and dad was cruel. It's a while debate I guess. It's easy to be ready to give your child up for adoption, but then you second guess things and make new decisions. What pissed me off was how adamant the heroine was to not keep her child that she even refused to have future communication with her child. But she immediately changes her decision after her child's birth and my heart broke for the couple who was looking to raise a child! And the way it was brushed off felt frustrating!! The only thing that helped was to see how perfectly the heroine took up the role of a mother.

And to make a fully functioning hero paraplegic was the biggest kind of tragedy I've read in a book! I've only read about a paraplegic hero in Me Before You. But the hero's experiences in this case were barely touched upon. Yes, his hardships are addressed but the intensity of the entire thing felt extremely underplayed. It felt like an extremely risky move for a writer to do that to her main character. Did it pay off? Not completely. But I wasn't disappointed.

I don't know if it was a me problem but I felt like there was way to much going on plot wise. We had the attack, the H being paralyzed from the neck down from said attack, human trafficking, h being kidnapped and assualted, and then finally the H walking again in the epilouge..I think I would of liked it more if it focused on them as a couple and his recovery🤷‍♀️

This is the sequel to the Mute and the Menace and overall I think this one was maybe a little bit better. Cara and Jackson are dealing with the repercussions of being stabbed by Jackson's father. Cara ended needing an emergency C section and Jackson ends up a paraplegic.

Cara begins to navigate life as a single mom while Jackson in stuck in the hospital attempting to heal from his injuries. Eventually he does end up leaving and has to deal with the anger he feels by not being able to do anything for himself.

I think Jackson was a little bit less of an asshole in this one. He still had his moments, but I guess if I was paralyzed from the neck down because my father stabbed me in the spine I would also lash out from time to time. The book takes kind of a weird turn with a sex trafficking ring being introduced, but overall there is a happy ending and sometimes that's all you need in a dark romance.

ARC IN EXCHANGE FOR HONEST REVIEW!!

This is the second part of The Grove duet - Jackson and Cara's story

This book starts straight after The Mute and the Menace cliffhanger, so basically starts off in hell. Once again A.R Breck takes you on one hell of an emotional heartbreaking ride as i knew she would. She takes you into a dark world of heartbreak, pain, torture and also unconditional love. A. R Breck takes you on a whirlwind of emotions, but in the end its all worth the tears the heartbreak, the love.

I still love the Bond that Jackson and Easton have and the same as Cara and Rose. When this book starts its a very dark place. Jackson especially is in a living hell and tries to push everyone away but those who love him will push just as hard to get him out . Cara and Jackson have never had it easy at all. I loved also going back to when they were younger and seeing that Jackson was always there for Cara in ways she never really noticed.

Jackson has to adjust to his new life but does Cara want that life? can she live with the huge changes that need to be made? will their love conquer all? or will it end in tragedy like everything else around them? well your going to have to read it to find out.

This book is not for the faint hearted as there is blood and gore and torture and much more. I loved every second of this book as i knew i would. Cannot wait to see what she writes next. If you havent read the start of Jackson and Cara's story The Mute and the Menace you better

Heart wrenching

This review for both books of the Grove series.

Cara and Jackson have known each other since teenagers growing up in the same trailer park. As Cara's first love and Jackson's best friend dies, it brings them to a night together that will set their relationship forward.

Once she becomes pregnant they go through battle of what to do with the baby. Jackson wants the baby but Cara knowing they are teenagers with no job, no family to help, wants the baby to have a better life and wants to explore adoption.

This duet was devastating but amazing. The life Jackson had to grow up with. The abuse he endured his whole childhood by the hands of his father. The scars he'll carry on him for the rest of his life.

Cara as well grew up with abuse from her step dad.

Going into book 2 they have to recover from their fatal attack by Jackson's dad. Him having to learn to live being paralyzed and having to depend on others to help him.

This was an amazing duet. Make sure to first start with grove high school book 1.

Cara and Jackson's love wasn't easy. The abuse of the past, moving on together without Logan, their son Wesley, new lifestyle of Jackson being paralyzed. Their love though conquered and they came out better.

I recommend this series if you love the alpha men, sassy and feisty heroines who don't take their crap.

This was a brand new author to me, but I will now be reading every book she writes!

Over the past week I've really read some interesting #darkromance books ,but these stood out. I was recommended by #booktok to read this series, and I'm so glad I did. @ar.breck hit the nail on the head when it came to writing dark romance. These books aren't only dark they are REAL. I went into this series thinking it was a high school romance, but it's far from that. I love when the author writes to fit a realistic vibe Breck does that. These 2 couples are so real I can actually picture the person in front of me. Rose, and Easton are such an amazing couple on how their imperfections compliment on another. Easton is gonna be a character you never forget cause he will be burned into your brain. The next couple is Cara and Jackson and they rock harder then the first couple ( my opinion) . Jackson is so deadly that he makes me tremble while reading. These 4 books have so much emotion, and pure raw beauty to them it hit home for me because I lived a life like theirs. I loved when I can connect with characters emotionally. I highly recommend these book, but know they aren't for the fainted hearted.

Omg

This book does take on some very hard and uncomfortable things Trigger warning.. I really liked this book .Read this book in one day. This is book 4 of the grove book u do need to read the other ones to get the whole story. Jackson and Cara relationship got tested a lot in The Mute and the Menace so in this book we c them living in the aftermath and trying to heal... Not wanting to give a lot away but this book wraps the series up nicely.. Jackson backstory was so sad in TMATM and you can see how much he had to fight just to get a lil happiest in his life and how he is still fighting in this book.. Cara I feel she grow up a lot in this book just from the first couple of chapter they both have a lot of bad things happened to them to sharp how they are..Love the closet that Jackson and Easton has . .

This truly was a phenomenal conclusion to Jackson & Cara’s story. A.R. Breck did a fabulous job writing this & I don’t think could’ve done a better job. My interest in their story really peaked when I realized Jackson was paralyzed, it’s not often you see a wounded/handicapped Hero in a dark romance book. This story was so raw & emotional, Jackson loved Cara so much, before he even realized it, & it was so painful to watch him adjust to his new way of life. Having a new baby, not being able to hold him, it was heartbreaking. I really really loved Cara in book 2, her growth & how she handled not only being a new mom, but also Jackson’s condition- & his darkness at times, was great to see. She didn’t give up on him, & when he wanted to, she refused to allow to push her away. There love is beautiful, & I really didn’t want their story to end. I was hoping for a baby #2 at the end!

Good plot, terrible writing

Good lord, did a child write this? Whoever edited this book should be fired. First of all… (spoiler alert)….
Jackson can’t shake the physical therapists hand if he can’t move said hands.
That irked me the most.
Terrible grammar.
Jackson is straight up trash. The way he talks to her and treats her?! If this is the authors idea of a dream male character, there’s something wrong.
There’s a difference between dark romance where the men are a little rougher around the edges and men like Jackson who are just scum of the earth.
Seriously… who hurt you?!
I’ve honestly never been so annoyed and completely frustrated by a bunch of words, yet here we are.
What a waste of time.

This. Book.

Y’all.....I am sad to see The Grove Series come to an end. But y’all....it has been soooo good. Another great duet from Breck. Another wonderful read. Full of suspense, heat, angst, and rip your heart out writing.

Jackson and Cara. Another couple I won’t be forgetting anytime soon. I received the ARC of this book and let me just say I’m buying it for my shelf. Because I will be re-reading this one.

I cannot wait to see what other stories Breck is going to break our hearts with next. Thanks for a great read!

Guys, if you need to remember what it feels like to have emotions, read this book!
Jackson and Cara take you through them all, I had laughed, cried, felt giddy and so much more by chapter 12.
Jackson's character development hit my soul something fierce.
Cara made my mama heart feel so strongly.
Their relationship growth just makes my heart so happy.
And this one scene... sweet heavens. 🥵
I'm so sad that this series is over because I'm going to miss these characters so much but I'm so glad that I got to go along on the ride.

So worth it

I'm so glad I pushed through the last book and read this one. Jackson isn't an easy man to like and reading his books was a struggle sometimes. However, I reminded myself that everyone's love is different. Every relationship is unique and Jackson and Cara work as a couple because they're both just a little different. I ended up falling in love with them and really enjoying their story. Praise goes to the author for writing their gritty truth and never shying away from the tough stuff.

Jackson and Cara for the win!!!! This book is not your typical romance. They can’t seem to catch a break. There are many lows and a few highs but where Cara is all heart, Jackson is all strength. They truly evolved in this book in the beat way!!! I’ve read all the book by this author and she has never failed to bring all the feels and present each story in the most realistic setting. Read this book!

As with book 1, I finished it in less than 24 hrs. I laughed and cried. I was holding my breath and clenching my kindle so hard I'm surprised it didn't crack. It wrecked me. I am so sad that there was only 2 books. I hope that later on, we can catch back up with the foursome to check on how everyone is doing. I will definitely read, and re-read these again and again. I absolutely adore A.R. Breck's HEAs.

Wow!

This book was so good! I'm still getting over the last book and this one was just icing on the cake! This book still had some spelling/grammar errors that I put notes on but overall it was still damn good! This book had all the drama and suspense that just draws you in! I feel like this book was a perfect ending to this series! I do wish there was some more sexy scenes but I understand with the plot that probably wasn't possible. I can't wait to read about The Seven now!

I loved this series so much.

After the devastation that cliffhanger from book one left me on I had to read this immediately to know what happened next.

This book was so emotional, it hits you in all the feels.

I’m soooo happy with the way it turned out, these two deserve the happiest of endings 😍

Read it! It’s so amazing!

Beautiful story

This story is beautiful and about 2 beautifully broken people who find each other in their darkest times. It's dark and a little messed up so read at you're own risk. Jackson is probably one of my favorite characters he's so broken and dark and just simply beautiful in my eye's. I sure hope there will be another book

But what a way to suffer!
I really liked this reading, its characters, the growth and development in general, but it's sad everything that had to happen (I even feel that it was more and worse than Easton and Rose) to reach that point of discovery and enrichment of a love that was always destined to be

Unconditional love

Wow Cara and Jackson got through hell, purgatory, and finally the light is reachable. Rose and Easton hold their friend’s up during the good and bad times. I really want more of The Seven and even Rich. His behavior in this book made me want more Rich Malone.

amazing

I loved Jackson and Clara so much, they bring out the best in each other. Jackson has always been the silent, broody type and seemed closed off to everyone but Clara got through his tough shell and it was amazing they both got their HEA after having such awful childhoods.

This series was so good! It was so different because many times you don’t expect Breck to go to some of the dark places she does. It is definitely a roller coaster of emotions. I hate to see it end.

If possible I would give this Series the entire Galaxy of stars, because it truly deserves the World! 😍

If you want your mind blown by a book, look no further than the Grove High School and continuation The Grove series by A.R. Breck! 😍
Angsty, dark, brutal, and oh so steamy! 😍🥵

If the Grove High Series wasn't already perfect, it sure as hell is now! 😍🥰
I absolutely loved Lost in the Silence and once I had picked it up I didn't (more like couldn't 😅) put it down until it was finished!
As with every other book of Breck's I lived and breathed every word and put the real world on hold to bask in my favourable world, kindly written by Breck!

I live in constant awe of Jackson and Cara's romance! Their love is fierce, unbreakable and a promise of death to anyone who dares trying to take that love away! Time and time again, hurdle after hurdle, they prove the lengths that they would go to to protect each other and I love that their bond is so indestructible! 🥰
